Who here watches Ghost Hunters? Who else thinks it's a crock? They visit some the most haunted places in the world and always come back pretty much empty handed. They make claims to have seen or felt something but all they do is claim. It seems that it's all just for dramatic effect. They went to the Hannum House in Glen Mills, PA not too long ago where my friends, Kim and Eric live with their children. The place is indeed very haunted. I stayed there for a week with my mother a few times. There was definite activity there.
I'd say it's bs, 'paranormal state' seems more buyable though...
Indeed, Paranormal State does seem to be more truthful. At least they use actual mediums rather than just a bunch of junk which can be made to go beep-beep by pressing a button.
Yeah but some time i get the weird vibe that this people study the Ancestry of the house and possibly be making a stage show, as if " i sense a little girl, possibly blond, who died in this basement" and then they look the historical documents or synk in police cases and they are like "wow how startling!", who knows could be, could be not, but they seam more buyable than 'Ghost Hunters', But you are right when you say; they go everywhere and never come out with anything..
TAPS is the show that I really enjoy. They will try to test what may make a door open by itself as a draft or another door on the other side. They check vents for air that may be blowing, when people say that they feel a rush of cold air. They try and see what people who consider themselves in a pararnormal situation, if it is paranormal or there is a explainable reason.
Paranormal states in which the ghost hunters show is about deems without positive proof than no claim can be made. We see they say something hat may be a ghost or presence yet in their logical minds know that others will shred the proof if presented as proof. Reflections of lights , wind something.
Proof is a two side fence, if they believe that it is, theirs others on the other side of the fence will ridicule them and debunk the proof presented.
Haunted or not, speculation on ones mind in the event of the incident.
Yeah. Both Kim and Eric were plenty pissed at how fake the TAPS team was. We all know there is something there. They used to rent out rooms. If they still did, this could've really boosted their business. Since they don't, it was just a waste of their time.
Well how sensitive, you are not to hard to scare then... In Paranormal state, the scholars, they dont perform those exorcism (they bring priest, mediums, psychics, historians, records anything that require the reading or expulsion of "entities") they dont say they have experiences anything either without the proof, and they pretty much do the same as Ghost Hunters in the recording; things, voices, shadows, images and weird feelings, they as well as the crew from Ghost Hunters say that there is no real thing until is proven, thats why the guy at the beginning say, "It gets me closer to find the real explanation of things" telling all that BS that when he was little he used experienced some things and he is looking for answers and each time he does "his job" he gets closer to finding out what happened that time. I think he pretty much say it in every show if you have seen any to judge that is. They all are the same bullshit wih addition of Destination truth and Monter quest and all those related shows but i suspect less from 'PS'. Any of them dont affirm they know it is a ghost or spirit in TV, 'cause they know is suitable for scrutiny if they do, so they go with the old "we dont know what was it but we catched this images and sound of something" to not directly say there is fucking evidence of a ghost, cause they dont hold any validating one.
Speculation of the show, whether in paranormal looking for ghost or what, without this and other shows we still may be in the dark ages looking for the existance after life and iff such things are possible.
The show shows some scince in the ways that we must to look for the spirit after death. Whether Our science is not to safisticated to do such a thing or not. yet some proof with picuters or things moving on their own we do question. for it breaks the boundaries of what we logically thought.
Well when I posted a thread on the topic I said the show was a joke.Ghosts do not exist nor do demons or haunted houses...and all that goes with the genre. You can believe what you like...that is what makes the world...but to my eyes there is no proof.
If this is true, DarkWolfman... how is it that you could possibly enjoy being on VR?
I liked "Ghost Hunters" for the willingness to look at all possible explanations, and there have been plenty of times where they did catch some interesting things on film. To me, they're far more credible than "Paranormal State", which I find to be highly sensationalistic in nature.
Not really surprising though..."Paranormal State" is connected to Lorraine Warren, one of the investigators involved in the Amityville Horror hoax, also, last I heard, being sued by a pair of brothers, featured in a book titled "The Devil In Connecticut" (and a recent feature film..) The brothers sued on the grounds that they were all but cult indoctrinated during the time of the so-called investigation of their case, ultimately frauded by the Warrens.
Just my two cents.
The show is theatrical and could be enjoyed by believers and nonbelievers alike. There are too strange occurrences in this world for me to believe that what they catch on camera is all fake. Countless people have described seeing, feeling, or hearing ghosts at these sites long before the crew of Ghost Hunters showed up.
I personally believe it should be a combination of sensitives with mechanical devices. I use to have long discussions with someone from Haunted Times and won't say who he is but its not the editor I submit to, lol.
He said that the guys from TAPS don't know how to use their equipment properly. In the circles of professional groups that do this sort of investigations, TAPS is laughed at by most. They are plummers which is ok. I mean everyone starts somewhere but they aren't really ghost hunters. They don't go in with an open mind. These guys are debunkers. Many people don't believe ghosts exist. Many people believe they do. I don't think there is enough information to the negative to dismiss it but we really don't know what is happening. I watched TAPS last night and they got some EVPs and other things and felt where they were was haunted. I don't think whatever it is acts just because someone comes in to try to varify activity. I think they would need to live there a bit to be able to say, no, nothing is here.
I love ghost hunters. They don't always come up empty handed, they went on board that haunted boat and came up with a decent amount of evidence. The same with the Penn state penitentiary(sp?) They don't always come up with stuff because they don't always experiance things in places that are supposedly 'haunted' they investigated a fort and caught apparitions on tape.
Yes I watch that show. So what? Even if it is fake, it's still entertaining.
I personally enjoy Ghost hunters! Perhaps the TAPS crew is on target and everyone else is delusional? Just a thought
If it is on target to get paid to travel the country and still find nothing, yeah. They're on target. I wish I worked for people like that. Achieve no results and still get paid to be on TV. They've got it made.
~grins wryly a moment~
With TAPS though..there have been several episodes where subjectively, they felt something was there, but had to go with the lack of evidence gained from that particular investigation. They do offer to return on other occasions, as even they know that one night, often just a few hours, is not really ample time to catch anything.
I did use to watch it a little bit more than cursory level...on the basis of one or two episodes, sure it doesnt look like much. Watch it a full season though, and you get a better idea of what they're doing and why, and why they dont necessarily rule a location as haunted, despite it's reputation.

You don't have to believe in ghosts or any other supernatural being in order to be goth, or enjoy this environment. It's a preconception - being 'goth', or anything else for that matter, doesn't necessarily dictate a person's beliefs.
For the record, I'm not a fan of the Ghosthunters show, I personally prefer Ghost Hunt (the one done by a New Zealand team) or Living with the Dead which is a UK show and goes to the haunted houses of ordinary people. I find shows such as TAPS and Most Haunted a little OTT - too much equipment, too many people, and too much time pointing the camera at someone's face and not the places they're investigating.
Humans quest to finding eveidence after life, we all want to see that after death we still have some meaning in our life.
A great show, and some times eviedence does seem promanant, yet with out any real proof they can only speculate on their findings and consider it non conclusive.
there is an anime series of the same name which is very good but scary
I am open minded about this subject but this show ghost hunters is to soap opra style to me.
I've noticed on a bunch of shows like that, they have strange angles on the cameras and never focus on one thing. It gets annoying, but entertaining to watch grown people freak out over things, then leave the place. Makes me wanna go to the places and make my own video to see if they are close to the truth or far from it.
Might I direct to several other threads that are still open on the topic of Ghost Hunters and Taps. Just search them out.
I believe that there are those that can see paranormal activity but I am not really certain about the shows that are on TV. I have watched TAPS before but didn't really get anything from it. There are several places that I would consider to be paranormal because of the things that might be seen out of the corner of ones eye.
Just my 2 cents worth...............
I saw them find a ghost once but that was just about it. what gets me is the way they try to talk to the ghost.....like they are really going to answer.
Honestly I love the show. I love how they try to debunk things. It all depends on you the viewer. When they go into an investigation they go with an open mind. I love how they listen to people about what they have incountered. They don't prejudge people and I think that is awesome. It is a good show. Just my opinion.
I love ghost hunters! Although Paranormal State is a little more believable. I don't think that they have any special f-x going on.
I found a good ghost hunting site, it comes from the haunted library.
www.willardghost.com
Just because a place has claims of paranormal activity does not make it a haunted place. I am a paranormal investigator and there is times I have gone to places that are active beyond belief and not come out with anything and then see other groups go in after me and come out with evidence, it all comes down to being in the right place at the right time and your not always going to come out with something every time. The you also have to take into consideration of the property owners not wanting all or any of the evidence that may been found to be brodcasted across the world.
I think some of them are trick sites, and there was a strange effect on the screen, it's a fake figure of a ghost. It's on www.darkartsmedia.com/LIVEFEED
Im a firm lover of both shows: Paranormal State, and TAPS
I find the suspence captivating and not to mention the guys on PRS are very attractive..
I really enjoyed A Haunting. It was a dramatized, storyboard series but each episode was based on a true event.
In search of the truth, real TV, a new phase of humans veiwing pleasure.
I think TAPS is a reliable source.
Their mission is to debunk the paranormal, but they have come across true hauntings.
If you have to criticize somebody's job. Then YOU do it, and see how it feels to be in their position. When you experience something, and somebody calls you a liar a million times over.
The reason I criticize is that they never know what to do when they actually face something real. They get paid to do something they fail at like 80% of the time. Last time I checked, incompetence was a shortcoming.
Becuase people search for the unknow proof of life after death. And to say that you are haunted will bring in tourism to known spots. So we must look at it from to objective points
1. proof of life after death
2. monatary to the places to draw in the crowds.
Incompetence, maybe a shortcoming.
But not every shortcoming is due to incompetence.
i think some of thier stuff is hoaky and some is fact , but it boils down to people all have a differant level of site into the other world and what crosses ours.
When Ghost hunters started they did find things. But after awile the show seemed to be just for entertainment purpose
You claim to have witnessed activity as well, yet you are empty handed. Would you have us believe you, and not the Ghost hunters?
I personally enjoy Ghost Hunters and think it's a far more credible show than Paranormal State. PS is far too dramatized and full of hokey narration and the occasional needless ritual to "summon" the entity. As far as the TAPS team always being empty handed, what about the EVP evidence that they come up with on numerous cases? The video footage of the unexplainable shadows from Eastern State Prison or the lighthouse in Florida. I also recommend watching the live investigations they conduct during the Halloween season.
And in response to an earlier comment about being on TV and producing no real results (in regards to TAPS), you could say the same thing about TV weathermen.
I like to watch Ghosthunters. They do approach the paranormal very differently from Paranormal State or the guys on Ghost Adventures (Travel Channel). I personally like Ghost Adventures better. 3 guys, locked in a location overnight. Gets pretty wild sometimes.
I agree with you VenusFire. Each show has a different approach and different ways of doing what they do best. By far Ghost Adventure is the best show on as of now.
hey, I watched them tonight and although the program is in reruns I stll enjoy it.
I like Ghost Hunters.. I do think some of the stuff on the show is kinda blah.. but I still enjoy watching it. I dont believe that ghosts exist but I am open minded. I think if I had a personal experience that would sway my view
I think by them not always coming up with conclusions is a good thing. How can they actually say a place is haunted when they have no proof..and not to mention they only stay there one night.
I almost hate to comment on this thread. No one can say ghosts don't exist, etc. There are records of hauntings that go back hundreds of years. TAPS is Ghost Hunters, lol. They are just amateur guys who have gone out and somewhat figured out how to use their equipment. Just because they have equipment doesn't mean that it will be viable in use. Most just want something, anything they can call scientific but I think we don't know the science on this in all actuality. Someone I know that does this professionally says they do not handle their equipment properly and Hans Holzer the Father in our age of Ghost Hunting laughs at all the equipment, unless he has suddenly died like many people these last few days he has been around for many years and investigated many cases.
TAPS are debunkers plain and simple so they come from a different frame of reference than some. Others are religious people like the Warren's were who come from that frame of reference; they will see demons all the time. Most of these people have different views on orbs even. Some think they are nothing and others think a whole range of things. IMHO TAPS is for entertainment purposes only like all the other shows they now have on television of this type.
I like GH and GHI.. the GHI team is better though. I think Paranormal State is better, but Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel on Fridays at 9 are the best!
However there is times I think GH dismisses evidence when they shouldn't and they hardly ever say a place ia actually huanted they just say theres paranormal activity.
I agree 'paranormal state has more truth to it then the othere one dose
I like both: Ghost Hunters and Paranormal State.
But I imply my own invetigation onto theirs. I prerecord their shows, then slow the DVD to pause and veiw only area's where no one is at(Empty halls) to see if I can see images of people.
Try it some time, you might be shocked at what you see. May only be one or two 18th of a fragment of film, but it's worth doing.
The best one is Ghost Hunters at Eastern State Penn.
When they caught that black figure on the catwalk.
Shocking images appear through out the paused frames.
I have to agree with Azuredark.
GH does take a different approach towards their findings. Just because equipment supports evidence of some sort of activity, does not mean a place is "haunted". It's like the Judiclial System using "Not Guilty" as opposed to "Innocent". They don't outwardly put theirselves on the line to say the House is "Haunted", but there is not enough evidence to prove there is anything more than some kind of "Acticvity".
I happen to like GHI more than GH, though.
In the past year or so, there seems to be some conflict growing and difference of opinions between the people on the GH Team.
The Members of GHI seem to have a more positive attitude towards the probabilty of hauntings and are starting to incorporate some new technology.
And, "Paranormal State" is entirely different. They are using psychics & sensatives accompanied by the use of technology. Perhaps it is because the PS Team works closer with the families (rather than just acticvity of the House or Location) and make it more personal that it comes across as more realistic, sincere and probable.
i think that for the most part they are nothing but crocks
The main problem I have with Gh or GHI is the way they assume all spirits speak and understand modern English. Why would a 13th century prince of Sweden speak or understand English? As for paranormal state, why would a Demon of the caliber of Belile( ?) want to haunt a collage kid? You would think he'd have bigger things to do! I also believe there is a fine line between being "possessed" and just being schizo! Don't get me wrong, I'm like Maulder, I want to believe. But they need to do a better job of convincing me!
As a TV show I think it is slow moving.
As science, I think they use technology that hasn't been proven to measure paranormal activity. Just picking up an electronic instrument, watching move or beep doesn't really prove anything.
Let's say that you believe in ghosts. Let's say that you have witnessed ghostly events. Why would you believe that ghosts emit electormagnetic fields that can be measured the instruments being used.
As far as Paranormal State, they are a student club at Penn State. It is a more interesting show, but just that a TV show.
All the shows are crock...although yeah I have to agree I like taps they are funny to watch!
Most haunted is faked...well one of them is 100% for sure and yes this is a very bold statement!
As I investigate things I have to say that the hardest thing to do is prove that you have found something...whether it is a fellow team member who spoils it, or a member of the public during investigations.
I now like to work alone, or if that's not possible then I work with a friend
As to taking a medium with the team, I don't tend to for reasons best not mentioned here!
To get a true picture of what's going on in some of these places go out to them yourself, unless your scared!
One thing here that has to be mentioned is it is a TV show and what makes these shows profitable. Some like the way ghost hunters debunk hauntings while Paranormal State proves them or tries to. So to each his own and what they want to watch and to believe. Personally I don't trust anything unless I see it or experience it myself.
You hit the nail on the head deadlyxdesires. That is exactly it. It is a for profit show, this is what brings in viewers and advertisers.
Exactly 10241024. How can we believe media when it is generated by profits..hell they could tell us anything or show us anything in order to satisfy their greed and lust for money.
