For anyone who has knowledge of Wicca or dark magic, I have been trying to find out what spiders mean in both Wicca and dark magic but I have found 15 different meanings about them. Is there any one meaning, if there is, what is it?

The only meaning that I know of in the practice of the esoterics, is: a familiar.

In other practices, the spider may denote that an individual may be being watched and should be careful about who they can trust.

okay the real reason im wondering is i was in my room and felt many many spiders crawling on me and when i looked at the floor it was completely covered and lasted that way for bout ten minutes then they just all disappeared

spiders can mean may things depending on the traditions that your dealing with. i know that i can't speak for all of them. but i do know that many times the spider is viewed as a representation of mother goddesses and other powerful beings. she is also, to some, viewed as a creator god.

I think you should watch Hunter x Hunter, the anime.
A group of Satanists formed a gang of thieves, and also charity doners, and called themselves, the Spider.
I think youd find the spiritual meaning youve been looking for there...maybe.

If you are in a private group or sect, the elders and leaders use spiders to watch a member they may suspect as a power threat or someone looking to cause mutiny or anarchy in their midst.

But the spider is a symbol of the mother goddess and she uses them as a protector.

So either you pissed someone off and their spying on you, you needed protection, or you just had a mental episode, due to fatigue or EXTREME paranoia.

Well we can see there are lots of interpretations, depending on what you've been taught.

My tradition taught the story of Arachne, and told that if you dreamed of spiders who did you no harm but inflicted fear, you were being warned of someone's jealousy.

This is a little from an article I wrote which is quite long on the spider. It is intermixed with legends and facts about them in general. Mostly they are connected to fate and dreams and Native Americans have a lot of lore concerning the Mother Spider. Wicca I don't know because it isn't that old. It would depend on what form you were involved with and cultural influence and belief. Those in Europe had all sorts of beliefs about women who knew herbalism and healing, although there were those that were Traditional Witches but they wouldn't have used that name. The religious groups believed besides the cat and other things the spider was a familiar or some that the spider was a shape the witch could turn into at will. Magickians can create servitors in whatever shapes they want but spiders seem to me to be one choice they wouldn't make unless it was a tarantula, something big IMO.

There are some good posts covering the magical side of things. If these spiders came for a magical purpose, someone must be out to get you.

But on the other side, I see two possible meanings:
- you had a nightmare
- you need to call an exterminator

Spiders crawling on you in bed and covering the floor is not a good thing.

I have aways known them as a familar... In some cultures they are known as bad omens.. Also they symbolize untrust.

i have ruled out nightmare because i was having a great dream prior to that and i make sure that there is no spiders in or around the house because im alergic to them and i use copious amounts of spider killing sprays but thank you all for all the input you have helped me with

What if You arent Wiccan and Spiders appear at Your home? Could be One cast a creation spell on You, least I think this way...And SoulShroud made a good point as well...I do not like them at all and do not care what they represent...

Perhaps it is more of a mental thing....an inner distaste, a fear.....

one person may hate spiders while another loves everything to do with spiders. it's all about perceptions and how they make that one person feel. interpretations of animals and insect and otherwise is best left explainable to the person having it. not so much everyone else. each of us have a particular draw toward certain things and of nature.

as for you seeing spiders crawling on you and covering your door.......I wouldn't read too much into that esp if it isn't a constant occurance for you.

fnny i came upon this thread as just today while driving there was a tiny yellow spider on my windshield on the inside my sister freaked and said kill it ...i was like hell no and i named her charlet

now my mother always told me if you kill a spider in your home you will have bad luck it will rain there will be a death in the family i do not know where she got her info but i allow spiders in my home i get some pretty big ones and tiny red ones hairy ones transparent oh man the list goes on they are beautyful

personally i dont mind spiders the only thing that would cause me to kill them is i am highly allergic to them
