I'm trying to compile a list of good sources for occult materials and books/information
feel free to list any good ones you have come across....but please if a source is already listed....don't re list it.....
books/websites/stores...that sort of thing...
please give locations(at least city) for the stores
i'll start it off with these stores in edmonton
Sanctuary(darker occult), Ascendant books(good general info on most non dark occult), where fairies live(mostly for herbs), Amethyst beginings(gems and semi precious), thats all off the top of my head
Borders has a good selection of occult material, and you know to stay away from silvertwit. www.chaosmatrix.org, www.whywiccanssuck.com---don't take it offensively, it's good. Ask FraterRath as he just bitched me out for "using his websites" apparently I'm not allowed to help out a fellow raver.
Waterstone's bookshop in the Old Brompton Road, London UK is a fabulous resource centre for any kind of reading material including the topics Daermon mentioned :)

I have a question, and forgive me for asking ('cuz 'till now, I've never given it much thought); but, does the vampire community have a (dare I say the word) "bible," like the withches have "The Witches Bible" (by Ferrar)? I mean, a work of NON-FICTION.
The Field Guide to Demons, Fallen Angels, and other Subversive Spirits is a good source for some occult stuff.
Meritet, I know there's one, but I don't know if it's any good...
You have to buy it online, but I don't know anyone who did..
Here's the link:
http://www.vampiretemple.com/
I hope it is of any use to you..
Meritet was after the same information as I was, and thank you LadyC.
Vancouver Island, Canada is a budding centre for the occult. I highly recommend House of Indigo, Nanaimo.
Your welcome, Alilyanna..
Does anyone know something good in the Netherlands?? (or should I stick to the net??)
In the Roosevelt district of Seattle there is East/West Bookshop
http://www.eastwestbookshop.com/NASApp/store/IndexJsp?s=localbestsellers
i've seen the vampire temple books....
interesrting read....does take a few large leaps of faith tho...
Alilyana... Vancouver... no way... I am spooked... I have been making plans to move out that way.. very soon. cool. Thanks! lol
Ok, Stuff...
An author, Aldous Huxley is one I have not seen listed here.
Also Erich Von Daniken (who is a little out there for me, personally).
Isreal Regardie has done some good works.
Books...
'In the Sanctuary' - A. Van der Naillen.
'Magick' - Aleister Crowley.
Online:

A word of warning on Demons.
Sounds to me Daermon is a poser who wishes he could have the strenghs of us
A baby cries in the wind , and it has more power than him. SWEET DREAMS. wouldn't sleep if i were you!!
I think the books are better because you can have them at hand much easier than going on the web. . .but that is my opinion. . .
Not sure if this was said but
www.darknessembraced.com is a good spot and EastWest Book store is another great place. Been one of my favorites since I first found them my sophmor eyar of high school out here in Sacramento.

bloodbaby..grow up....
your infantile input isn't welcome in my thread....
www.whywiccanssuck.com don't take it offencively it's actualy realy good you should read it.
COOL!! Thanks everyone for steering me in a more fixed direction. I will check each suggestion and link out. Again, thanks!
www.qpb.com actually has several good selections, although it is not extensive...and vancouver-is everybody from here migrating up that away?
That's a great listing of sources, guys! Well done! One day I'll sit down and check them out, as I haven't taken the time to do any real research yet!
I wish that there was "Research Links" section here on VR that listed such sources, though they'd have to be looked over and judged to be of high enough quality to be directly included on VR's Menu! It might be worth suggesting!
now that is a good suggestion...
I think I may bring it up with the mr. cancer guy
i have no idea but ill be sure to look around for you too
I don't think i could ever stress this to much but, the book by "Konstantinos" entitled "Vampires The Occult Truth" Is very informative. there is an article of it in the Database section of the site. Also another place I recommend is www.vampire-church.com.
check out the Holy Graal (yes, that's how it's spelt) on 107th ave and 116 ave (i think)....it's near the graveyard at any rate.
I was raise with "Man Myth and Magic" encyclopedia of the supernatural. Hard copies may be found at some libraries. The same for "Encyclopedia of The Unexplained." Both were by McGraw-Hill Book Company. @1970
You can then check their orignal sources.
Vampire Church is an okay place to go to, yet some of their methods and means of training remind me a bit like the Sanguinarium in nature. So expect some RPisticness from some of the people. Yet, Its been ages since I've been to the site, so I do not know if its changed any.

That's an awesome site that a friend of mine has created (He's also here at VR). Great material and knows his stuff - check it out..
most good book stores have sections with some informative books in
Please remember when reading anything from the vampire temple that not all vampires believe the same as they do. The vampire community is as diverse in their beliefs as the rest of society is.....

Why Wiccans Suck is awesome!! :)
It cracks me up.
One of the things is a game idea. Two partners go into a "Wiccan" chat room and ask assanine questions to get the most condescending answers, worth variable points. Whoever gets the most points wins.
Anyone wanna play?
I figure the occult stuff is going to help you where you want to go. Chaos sites like chaosmatrix are going to be good if you like the general direction they are going into.
I would look at the sites mentioned (thanks Nyx for sticking mine up) and see what you think fits in best for you before you go buying all sorts of books, might save you a little cash that way.
Aliester Crowly is a good source to look into. So is anything writtin by Israli Regardie and by the Ciceros. Most stuff done by Regarde has to deal with the Golden Dawn, which is an Occult Society revolving around Theurgy and Qabalahism.

These all seem to be extremely helpful. I agree that there should be a Resources link available... It may take some time to go through but it would be worth it in the end. I would love to have a one stop place to answer any spiritual or occult questions I may have.
www.darkness-embraced.com
Its an Occult and Vampyrism Community, very realistic veiws and its a no rp no bs site. You will have to register and such, but once you get in, the people are helpful and will do what they can to address your questions or send you the right info to help push you alonge to the right spot.

I am surprised no-one has mentioned work by Paul Huson or Micheal Craig.
I never heard of them. What type of work do they do?
- Sin
Paul Huson wrote a book "Mastering Witchcraft" which is much lamented by "lighter" practitioners of Wicca.
Micheal Craig has written several books and is heavily Ceremonial.
I am at work, and away from my library, or I could post further information.
even in reprints weiser/red wheel publishing still is putting out good occult stuff.I have some ebook grimoires I would not mind sharing.
Here are some sites that may prove useful.
