OK folks, some of you may have seen that I'm researching Non-European Vampires and posting my findings as articles in the database. I've found many different types of vampires, outside of Europe, yet there seems to be many more. As I did, I find other references that I've never heard of. If any of you feel like helping out, then simply post the names (reference names, example: China: Chinag-Shi) and I will go an look them up.
I plan on adding some threads in the coming weeks that let you all discuss the different types of vampires, so by helping me, you're helping the discussions.
Interested? Post some info. Thanks.

I know I am extremely far behind on reading the boards the last few days. I can't seem to see where you have any other types listed so far, so I am not sure just what you have already, but I will go dig out all my dusty old vampire lore books and articles and see what I can find for you.
Writer, I went ahead and pulled a couple of the pieces I had in my files on world vampire lore and emailed them to you at the address on your profile page. Hopefully there will be some in the lists that you haven't already come across.
Wow TD you got that one right. How did the rest of us forget that lot?
*grins*
Go to my journal and look in Vampyre facts, I have information on the majority of Vampires around the world.
Im afriad I dont know any information youre looking for but I do find it very interesting all of the post and all.
I would like to thank everyone who has contributed here. I will be getting back to you when I have more articles.
The ancient Greeks had the Lamia. spectral female creatures that killed babies in their cradles if i remember correctly.
Southern Asia has the Viscera, an undead floating head with entrails for a body.
I can't believe I forgot the lawyers, ploiticians, etc. They truly are bloodsuckers.
I'm very thankful to all of you who have added info here and I hope that the articles I write serve you all by expanding your knowledge of vampires. I know that reading the source materials is certainly broadening my scope.
I will have an article coming about greek vampires in the next few weeks and I have found stuff on the Lamia. Thanks for adding that one to the list.
ill do as much research as i can and ill get back to you ok

Paige, there's no need for you to do the research. I was simply asking that people share the names of what vampires they have found outside of Europe. I am assigned the task of doing the research so I feel like I would be cheating were I to have someone else do it for me. With the current list that members have provided and the list of A-Z, I have more than enough info to do about 10 more articles.
hey writer, i have the perfect book for you to either get or check out- i got it as a christmas gift, and so far its been great!
Vampires by Dr. Bob Curran, New Page Books. Its a field guide to the creatures that stalk the night.. they go by country and the different names they're called.
hope that helps!
yeah have you come up with anything that you know isnt a lie. and come up with some hard facts?
It is nearly impossible to come up with "facts" as there is no scientific evidence that vampires really exist. Therefor, everything that I have found, research wise, can only be called specualtion. You either believe it or you don't. In researching, I use more than one piece of source material as the basis for the article and list several perspectives if they are offered. You can read the two articles I've previously written in the database. They are under Non-European Vampires.
AS far as Scottish Vampires.... I will pass the information along to the person who is researching European Vampires. Thanks for adding it.
As a small correction to my last post......
You will need to look in the section listed as member articles to find mine, instead of looking at the ones in the database. They are separate categories.
I do not have any info at this time off the top of my head, however I'll go through my stuff and send you what I find..
I'd like to keep the thread open, and I'm tahnkful for all of the info., but I really do have enough right now to do at least 10 articles. I will be looking again in about 2 weeks, after these ones are done.
i know this is no your typical (human form) vampire but is still "labled as a vampire" Chupa cabra mexico and Puerto Rico if you want more on reports go to http://puertorico.20megsfree.com/custom2.html
I don't really know, but if it'll help, I can help serch some for you.
Blood suckers.
Blood drainers.
Hypnotic Vampire.
Energy drainers.
Heres all the help I can give you my Kind Sir..
Vampwriter: If the articles you write are of a good standard and all your own work why dont you submit them to the members articles section also?
Alternatively if they are well researched, written, and offer educational material meeting the required standard, I could maybe include them in the Vampire Database :)
From my reasearch it looks as though south America and middle America and Australia have the most vampire-like creatures so i would just search that on yahoo
I will do some research myself, most i can tell you is to keep checking legends to find some truth were to look.
Thanks for all of the additional posts guys. I'm not sure that the one that just says ????????? warrants staying on the thread though.
Emerald, I have submitted two of my articles and they are in the members articles section. Check them out as they are under Non-European Vampires I and II. More are to follow. I have to email you about another type of article to see if it belongs there or if it would fall strictly in my house forum and journal areas.
Hey it is true the FBI , CIA, GOV. dude all them are vamps of unknow sorts!lol
just wait about 2 weeks ang we'll get u plenty of subjects vcampwriter
Bloodgod,
New subjects are always welcome. Are you a member of a hall? If not, I can induct you into mine and you can help with researching subject content. Let me know.
Forgot to add that these are the direct links to take you to the articles I wrote for the database.....
