You dont become a vampire. You either are or you aren't. No chaning into one. Sure you can lead the lifestyle but you aren't ever CHANGED into a vampire, dont ever BECOME one.
I believe you can learn psychic feedind as for blood drinking you might develope that liking in your life.
However when I see the phrase:Become a vampire,I beleive it's referring to the movies way.If taht was it,I don't believe such thing can happen and exists.
If it was like the movies I would accept it as well lol.
Ay, I desperately need a vampire!. I want to be young and beautiful FOR EVER!
Ok...So ARE you talking about the movie/book vampires or real vamyres? That makes a difference. Movie wise, I would want to be, immortality, super human abilities, the dark and mystery. Real life, I like it well enough.
Heh to darkthorne....
For those that are actual vampires....Its not a choice....You dont become one you are one....
Maybe if you look into Human Living vampires {H.L.V's} we dont choose it, we dont glamourise it and we wonder why others feel it is romantic and want to be it....
Try walking a day in the life of a H.L.V. then tell me its sexy.....
exactly...u dont BECOME a vampire, its either that u ARE 1, or u ARENT... and we can help the fact that we were born vampires, its just THERE
There is a little article on my profile about H.L.V's if you want to read more

There are different opinions on this subject. Some believe you cannot 'become' one- yet there are people on this site who are vampires that are mentoring people who are interested, and in the end- there is a ritual 'embracing'. It is not meant to immortalize them, but to initiate for lack of a better word. This of course is not everyone's practice, but one of many. Some do in fact find this path, that never lived it prior.

there are 2 constants in this world: Love and Death.
the vampire is immortal and so death does not exist in it's life, therefore the vampire is filled with love.
this is a romantic point of the vampire,
this may be why people want to become a vamp, they want that love to surround them.
Um....vampires aren't immortal except in the movies. NO ONE is immortal. And I am not filled with love. Many vampires have been shunned or, back in the older days, tortured and killed. How can people be filled with love after that? And if you ARE immortal, please let me know how you do it.
i refer to the fiction of vamps.
the fiction is the romantic idea of the vamp and that draws many to it.
I agree with the theory of being a vampire or not...you don´t become one...but besides the beautifull things the vampire world has there are others which aren´t so beautifull...seeing the ones you love dying...
To become something so much more than yourself . . . to be the shadow in the alley, the cry in the night. To finally embrace life by turning to death.
Its not somthing you choose to become... Its somthing you relise.
Movie wise who the heck wouldn't,.. super power,. ability to mesmerize members of the opposite sex,..
I do have to agree though that the becoming thing is the fiction side and that you realize that yiou are
everyone has said what a real vamp is and you CAN become one in my personal opinion... it's a matter of the teaching and embracing... and either movie or (R.L.V) i would love it ;-)
Well, by my definition, the only vampire you can "become", is a sympathetic vampire, and you don't gain any of the powers of a real vampire by becoming one. In order to have the full potential and abilities of a psy/sang vampire, you must be born one.
Through teaching and embracing, a person can learn to mimic many, if not all, of the powers of a vampire, but the requirement to feed is simply not there, making them, by most definitions, NOT a vampire.
But this is just my opinion.
I myself was born a vampire and it has been hard in the past for me but now i don,t hide what i am i embrace it,and all
the vampires i have met have been born as vampires they haven,t become but who knows maybe its possible.
why is this thread still going? the person who started it isn't even registered anymore!
As in the movies, I believe my main fascination with vampires is that they heal quickly, are very strong, have a lifetime to experience the world and they have a seductive side to them which tends to be rather appealing I guess...
They also have a tragic side to them, as they can not longer be in sunlight, and they live so long, any friends they make will grow old and die, unless they bite their friends, but they can't turn everybody. Not everybody is suited to be a vampire and not everyone survives the attempt to be turned...
Here's a letter I found on the sanguinarius website. It should discourage those who wish to become a vampire:
An Open Letter to Any Who Would Wish to Become a Vampire
I wrote this to someone in an email, and I think it bears repeating for any and all to read.
Hello,
I saw your post on the Vampiric Community Message Board [about wanting to be made into a vampire]. What are your reasons for wanting to become a vampire? Have you read any of my website?
It's not at all like in the movies or books. Sure, I understand. I'd like to be THAT way, too, but I'm not. You are young; you have the whole world open to you. You can be anything that you choose if you apply yourself and try hard to work toward that goal. But being a vampire is not what it seems like. It's a life full of frustrations, and complications, stress and worry. We are as human as you are. Our lives are just as ratty and boring as anyone else's life. It's not what you are that counts, but how you choose to be. Do you want a life full of interesting things? Do you want to have power and influence over others? To be charming and desirable? To have wealth, health, and longevity?
Being a vampire won't automatically cause these things to happen. You, yourself, must strive to obtain these things for yourself. Do you want to be interesting and different? All you'll be is different. People, if they know, will think you're a freak, or that you're just a mental case; they won't believe. If they do believe, they won't understand. It's a pain. You lose friends, not gain them. You go through life struggling with yourself. There are times when you would be without any sources, and what will you do then, but suffer? You can't just go out and "take" someone, or hypnotise them to give you blood.
It doesn't work that way. You mess up, you have the Law after you, wanting to put you in jail, or a psychiatric hospital, where your needs DEFINITELY won't get met. So you suffer, and hate the one that turned or awakened you. I don't even know if "turning" someone is possible. For all I know, drinking blood itself is addictive. You have all sorts of unpleasant problems that go with it. Migraines, sensitivities, gastric problems. You'll be late for work on more than one occasion because you can't leave the house til you find your sunglasses, or you are vamping out too bad to make an appearance at work. That doesn't look good on your record. Bosses don't like that. They put little black marks by your name in your employee file.
And should you become tired of being this way, then too bad. You're stuck with it. Once the novelty wears off, or you decide that it's not the life for you, after all, then what? Life goes on. And you hate it worse than you may have hated it before you were a vampire. Do you really want to feel strung out, shakey, ill-at-ease and constantly, endlessly thirsty all the time? Do you want to place value on another person by how much blood you think they have in them? That may sound funny to you, but it's not. It's not funny at all. It's sad. Listen to me, I know this stuff. I live with it. It's not cool.
Ahhh, you're young, you won't listen to me. I know. It's the way of the young not to listen to those who are older and have lived through the things they speak of. I don't know what else to say. Either you will listen to me, or you won't. I'm not telling you this stuff to be a spoilsport, or to be mean and nasty, but so that you won't: A.) ruin your life with it, or B.) spend your life wishing to be something that you think is great, but isn't. If you never get to be a vampire, then you have not missed out on anything great and wonderful. Count yourself fortunate.
Please feel free to write me back.
With utmost sincerity,
Sanguinarius

to stay young and beautiful, also be able to keep fighting with my swords
The movies glamorize vampires. As stated before, who wouldn't want to be rich; beautiful; hold power over others?
I'm interested in vampires but I don't want to live the life of a real vamp. I can't deal with my own life 1/2 the time, why would I want to add more stress to myself? Sure, if they were like they are in the movies, I'd be all for it. If the male vamps in the movies were how male vamps really are, I'd say "where do I sign up?"
people think that being a vampyre is romantic and sensual...they dont really know what it truly means to be one and what you have to go through as one...thats why they are so keen to want to try to become one even though to become a vampyre isnt what they think is.
vampyres are born who they are and what they are.
they can transfer some of their energy to another person, but that person is never truly a vampyre..i guess you can call them hybrids
it is something that is either you are or you are not,it is a lifestyle that is misunderstood
OK, now some of you peaked my curiosity. You say you are born a vamp. Can you give more detail?
Being vamp whether sang or psi is something that is in you from infancy.... Most of us who are don't even know it when we're really young, you just feel, act, and think differently than "normal" ...."If" we find out, we ususally do in the teen years.... Some are lucky to have a family of vamps, to guide them, others are loners. Some people get too caught up in Hollywood and think they want to be a vamp... Bring them a goblet of blood to drink and I assure you they'd probably vomit!!!
La Muerte's letter certainly has many good points, though I believe the final choice has to be a personal one. Some people really are better off after embracing a vampiric lifestyle, instead of suppressing one.
Just to clarify, in case some get the wrong idea, I just copy/pasted a letter from sanguinarius. It's not technically mine. That's all.
And yes, it is still up to the individual. The letter was concerned with those who think they want to be made into a vampire. Firstly, that's not possible, secondly, it's not all it's cracked up to be.
Saying that you have to be born a vampyre is a whole lot of elitest nonesense. An unthinking way to separate fact from preferred perception..just think of the people you consider "real" vampyres..funny about how that works eh? A person can learn to be a vampyre as easily as he can learn psychic probing..it dosen't take a genius.
- D
No, mrd. One can only learn to mimick a vampire by learning psychic probing. What makes us different is our need to feed.
The difference between a 'psychic vampire' and a vampyre is indeed in that distinction. I don't believe that anyone needs to do anything however...that need is psychological or spiritual. Either way, no one is going to wither into nothingness without visualizing a tendril drawing the life from another..that is simply absurd.
- D
You are free to believe what you wish, but visualizing a tendril is but one of many feeding methods. Bottom line, if a vampire, despite the numerous opportunities to feed, doesn't do so, he/she will eventually die.
However, when any vampire's need gets too great, he/she will feed whether or not they want to, generally performing an ambient feed.
Have you ever seen anyone that died because they didn't feed LaMuerte?
- D
As I already stated, whether he/she wants to or not, when a vampire's hunger gets too great, they will feed unwillingly from the closest available source. Even if it is undesirable, like the earth, the sun, trees, etc. So to answer your question, no. I don't believe anyone ever has. But who knows?
Thats all I'm really saying..since no one has seen it. We cannot assume it is true..but since we have much evidence to that suggest otherwise..we can be fairly certain it does not.
- D
Well, we also know that when a vampire doesn't feed, whether they be psychic or sanguinarian, they do suffer the same symptoms: pallor, lethargy, depression, and in some cases, receding of the gumline. A doctor would attribute these to various diseases or disorders, but they cannot provide an explanation for why the syptoms stop suddenly when the vampire feeds again.
But I say again..we don't know that. Saying that someone is feeling mental pain is one thing..but when you start saying they have physical symptoms like a receding gumline..you are moving into medical phenomena. If we are to assume that it has any validity..we would need valid references. Thing is though..I can promise you wont find them.
- D
True, but one still can't assume either way. Again, anyone is free to believe what they want. I have seen someone suffer the minor effects of not feeding. And this was how both friends came to the realization that they were vampires. Whether a vampire has come forth and presented their case to a real doctor, you can be fairly sure the doctor would be hesitant to document the case. How willing would the medical community be to accept something they can't measure? Even if one doctor could be convinced, how is he/she to convince the rest of the medical community, with only one known case? This is hypothetical, obviously, but you see my point.
All beliefs in this should be respected, but I'll agree with La Muerte. Not all people can "learn" to become vampires. There are special traits that unawaken vamps have. And yes, the medical phenomena of a vampire needing to feed have yet to be explained by the large medical community, but they also have yet to explain things like telepathy, precognition, and other unconventional things.
"Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it." - Andre Gide
This is a run-on conversation that goes nowhere really. The fact is that they have yet to explain it because there is not a single shred of verifiable evidence that any of this..including telepathy or precognition..are real. This is because no one has been able to display these things and not eventually have them pulled apart by inquiring minds. It's all an opinion, and of course I respect that...lets just avoid saying that we know anything to be true.. If we do..we are full of it to the brim.
- D
Fair enough... regardless of whether or not we "know" anything to be true, we can't sway the opinions of everyone.
There is immortality and the idea of seeing everything in the world change is tempting.
oka for one you can't becime a vampire.. You can learn the way's and make your self mentale beleave you are.. BUt you can't other wise trust me it isent funny to be a vampire I know for a fact.. IT is a lonly life and not worth it.
...yeah, you've probably heard this already...but you cant become a vampire. I guess its the way of...you are...or you arn't. *shurgs* Thats just the way it is.
Think about it. In the movies and books the vampires are always portrayed in such a way one becomes almost addicted to it. Powerful, Immortal, Almost Ageless (Depending on what movie or book you read), They Have No Emotions To Hold Them Back, And lastly they're always associated with death and evil.
While real life vampires do die at some point yet they feed just as the movie vampies in some form or fashion. Sometimes they succumb to emotions and feelings for others.
well I consider myself a vampire in the inside ... But I know I will never be a real true to the Blood vampire.. I would love to be one but if I was a true vampire, I wouldn't be living the life I have right now...
and why become a Vampire? the power of the Mind
Just because people are vampires, doesnt mean they want to be vampires. I dont want to be a vampire, but HEY! I am one anyway. Nothing much you can do-- there is no "cure".
you either are are arnt one i am one i love blood and the mysterious life others would like to know about but it is our secret
If it was for the Hollywood Vampire Type, I would become a vampire to live forever and see and learn as much as I can...also I could have my revenge on some people! For the real type of vampirism...I don`t see any advantage!
i am a lone wolf i would like to be a vampire but i have my wolven traets
Personally I don't believe you become one. You have to be born as one.
But in the movies I'm almost 100% sure that they become a vampire for either the power, the romance, or for a sheer fear of dieing in the first place.
Well if that question could be answered and if you COULD become a vampire basically it is the same thing as asking why be this or why do that..... Anyways anouther thing is one person or even large numbers wouldn't be able to answer that one question because if it were up to many people and if they could change then they would do it each for a different reason.....
To live forever would be great, so much that could be learned.
No matter what your beliefs. Weather a person can BECOME a vampire or not. lets presume you had the choice. weather it be at birth or later in your life.
Alot of people who were presented with the idea of "immortality" think it comes hand in hand with power in there for seek it.
Some seek "immortality" for wisdom. To know the answers to the great questions of the world.
If i were to choose having not been born this way i wouldnt have picked it. only beacuse though my heart is black and rotting in my cheast cavity. i still have the emotions which make each death of those i love who could not have been of vampire blood. To BE a vampire is to have a heart that is fairly cold. you are solitary. you are best of either pretending not to be there or finding your own kind and enjoying the finer pleasures of immortality.
Appologies that was long and i might have strayed from topic
well, i guess i would try to become a vampire because it is impressive how they life, act, join on different ways.
I would try to become on to have the ability to make those i love immortal - even if we need Donors then.
no matter the fact that immortality is not accessable because one way or anouther you can die..... It is supposed to be a punishment not something amazing..... So if anyone can help me understand the fact that they would enjoy a lifetime of watching others die and to hold all memories of that for years and years to come......
good question, ive always found them very interesting....
Thanks LaMuerte for tht post! I have always wanted to become avampire because fo the movies and have always much rather look at the fiction than the facts. But I love to be a donor:) I find the physical biting a turn on.
It's all up to that person. Me.. I would've wanted to become a vampire, because it was something i was not. The alluring romanticism usually shown in vampires draws more people in than the animal like vampires. People are after fairy-tales still. The romantic side in fact drew me in as well. It's all part of the addiction to a 'happy ending' theme.
It's fact vs. fiction. Would you want to become Hollywood or in your face?
