One universal thing VR profiles have is the love of The Crow.
Why is that, I wonder.
I would guess that's because it's very gothic in nature and deals with the idea of eternal love. Although, I think most people who've seen the movie love it.
I'm just talking about the first movie. I'm not willing to see the others.
The story for The Crow and the other movies have been about love surviving death, and setting right a wrong committed against them. Eternal love and an interesting way to explain things coming around to those who have wronged an innocent.
The Crow with Brandon Lee is based on The Crow Graphic Novels.Brandon died while making The Crow so that is a link to people loving it more.Yes,the story is timeless and many people feel some connection to it.But you have to delve deeper into the "love" of the movie. It is more to do with his untimely death,at least for me.I don't consider it being "gothic" in nature. It has to do with being a fan of Lee's and hating that a stupid accident killed him.The story of The Crow does make people want to find more in their life before they die.Whether it be to find true love, tell someone how they mean to them or how they mourn the loss of a loved one.To wish they had one last chance to tell someone they lost that they love them and wished they had said it more.
personally, i don't think this is universal here.... far from it.
myself and a number of other people didn't like these movies at all. i loved the book and felt that it was a bastardization of cult classic. i loved the book because eric always was quoting joy devision and the cure. yes i see that is the legacy of brandon lee and i can totally respect it. and the film is wonderfully acted.
some are into it because it's their into to goth.... it's not a great intro, very very hollywood version of goth.
everyone is into different movies and i have friends that love it, but this is far from my cup of tea
I personally never thought of it as goth at all just a movie that delved into the darker side of things like the novel was in general a very dark movie that used Love as the bright light in it thats all but thats just me ......
I agree with the Brandon Lee dying being a main reason. I think if he hadn't died during the making of it, the intrigue and love for the movie wouldn't be so great. That's just my opinion...
personaly i luv the first movie, but the rest dont seem to match up to the first i dunno what it is but, i just dont like them
I enjoy everything from the plot to the unique murder right up there to the make up concept
to me it is the idea that love tramples over all even death
i like it because of the gothic nature of it and the romance...the crow is coming back to kill the men that killed him and his wife...i think its romantic in a twisted way. not to mention that brandon lee is dead and he dies while filming...i think thats his name.
Hmm, I wonder..
Could it be the romance of being an immortal, where the only catch to death is killing your guardian totem?
Could it be the idea of dressing like an ICP reject and going around, causing havoc and turmoil on those who would have betrayed you?
Could it be that really cool trench coat and those quick reflexes that would reflect some sort of "vampiric" fascination?
Could be.
Not an ICP reject...they didn't exist when the story was written in graphic form.
They weren't married in the movie, they were engaged.
He didn't really come back for revenge,he came back to right a wrong done, fix an injustice.
ICP may not have existed back when, but the rejects could still be relating the crap make-up jobs to the film itself, thus my example of calling them rejected.
The movie is one of brandon lee s best but the books our even better. It portrays
It's another form of escape and it's dark so no wonder.
Also many are born before the 80's so again, no wonder.
In a way a perception to come back from death and make whats wrong right. the belief that things can be undone to a better outcome.
The Crow with Brandon Lee has always been one of my top Favs, mostly because his dark side was formed from hate that another wrongfully inflicted upon he and his soulmate.
So he became an advenger to rid Evil, sort of a personna of "Not all that appears Evil (as the Crow) is Evil " theory.
As most people relate a black Raven/Crow to Evil Omen from folk lure, movies, books and Hogwash issues.
seeing a person come back from the dead to exact revenage was one of the many reasons why i loved the crow movies
soundtrack was good too
We wish that if our life was ended by someone else we could do that. the first crow was the best.
I loved the movie and have not had the pleasure of reading the book(s).
To me, it was totally 'goth'...as a matter-of-fact, the film kinda' had the look of the German Expressionist art movement of the teens and 1920's, which was 'gothic'. Even Brandon Lee's iconic Crow was earily similar to the sleepwalking character in the German 1919 film 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari'.
My two cents anyway...
I like all of them. I guess its because i like the idea that no bad ever goes unpunished. the idea that what comes around goes around karma comes back to bite you in the ass and it bites you hard. Yeah it may not come when you want it or how you want it and it might take some time but in the end the punishment is served. also yeah i like the idea that revenge wasnt motivated out of selfish reasons like it is in other cases this time it was out of love.
I loved the first movie. I am not sure i can explain the why, there was a connection when I watched it. It kinda puts the thought of karma in a whole new light
I love the crow because it is so dark, yet light in some places, revenge is sweet! that movie has great atomnesphere and very memorable characters.
I agree ..Was a good movie and everyone has their own opinions of it..goth or not, rejects or not...The first was the best..It ended the way it should have, no room for anymore..Brandon Lee made it and they should not have tried to keep on with it...Thats my story and i am sticking to it...
It seems to me that the movies speak to the tone of unfinished business- the soul of the wronged cannot rest until the deed is avenged. The overtone of the movies is that love can cause a person to return as their lover was wronged or killed.
i think it shows how a soul can return to this world . watchful creatures or spiritual creatures and their power. without them he could not live now the movie is overrated the book was awsome . but i think people see what they want and look past the real point of it .
the basic concept of it was vengeance, but the character had to re-find his humanity and caring in the process, some things that were cut out, the reason for the electrical tape around arms and stomache was funboy comes out of the shower with the straight razor after eric gives his healing power to darla to rid her of the heroin, so that damage would not heal, in learning to care again about others, he was sidestepping his purpose for returning and was punished for it with pain.
the character goes through various stages of grief related insanity throughout the movie.
I think the idea of such a pure form of retribution strikes a chord in most of us, making us wonder if something horrible happened to us, would it ever be avenged?
i love this movie. not only is it about coming back to life 4 vengeance, murder, justice, love, and magic, but it was the last movie Brandon Lee ever made, he actually died in it.
that in its self has great significance.
