I've seen a few ghosts. One is in the house I currently live in. When I was younger, I was very lucky to have a ghost watching out for me. My friend and I were climbing on what was left of an old building, and I started falling. I felt a hand on my back push me back up on to the wall. I know it wasn't my friend because she was directly in front of me at the time.

I have always been able to see what some can not see. I thought it was "normal" until I was older. Many people do not believe in ghosts and such so it causes controversy when someone says they can see them, but none the less I know what I see. I am a ghost hunter as well, so I have encounters on many levels. We have one in the house I live in currently, but for the most part he stays quiet and exists with us with no problems, but a long time ago that wasn't so much the case. I think basically he just wanted us to acknowledge he existed in our environment. I've never been afraid of spirits, I always think of them as people. They are simply people who do not have a flesh body any longer.

I don't necessarily see Ghosts but I do feel them. I am an Empath as well as a Reaper in a way.

I am an Empath in that I feel some of my loved ones that have passed on when they are around.

I am a Reaper in that I have felt when a few of my relatives have died. I felt about 3-5 people die and it isn't a pleasant experience I can tell you that. To know that they are gone before you are even told that they are gone is scary. I will never be comfortable feeling loved ones die but it is something that Iwill always have to live with.

None of my family members know that I am a Reaper or Empath for various religious reasons. Most of them are old fashioned baptists go figure in the area of Florida that i'm in. In time I may tell a few of my close friends.

I can't say I've ever actually seen a ghost, but in the house where I grew up,which I moved out of 7 yrs ago,all the inhabitants weren't necessarily alive. We'd hear voices, footsteps, doors would close or lock on their own, drawers would open&close&our dog used to growl menacingly at. Something only she could see.Our dog rarely ever growled at any living person.lol! We never used to mention our other 'residents' to visitors, unless they mentioned them first.People's reactions were mixed. Some scoffed, some were fascinated...some left&never came back!

I see and hear things that no one else can here.... I don't know if they're spirits or what. I'm on medication that the doctors said would get rid of them.... They haven't. Ken says that he thinks because of all the abuse and trauma I suffered as a child I may have become a medium.... Says that as loud and clear as everything is to me I may be a pretty strong one...

See the dead, personally I don't beileve ghosts or spirits to be dead. They are living beings just as us but in a very much differant form. I when I was younger often saw and heard things, perhaps of those who we reffer to as ghosts. If you can see them now it is a gift that you have been granted. Perhaps you can use this to help some of the spirits that visit, maybe they just want to be heard. I still feel the presence of them if they are near me, I rarley hear them these days, but I never doubt they are there. Its not unusual for this type of thing to happen, but be careful, and always rule out medical concerns as well just to be safe. If you find you are healthy well enjoy this gift becouse that is what it is.

Such a noval concept, as it is presented.. "Oh I see dead people, doesn't everyone?", "I'm so exceptional."

really all this is is a thread for phishing testimony.

There is no depth here, nothing to engage the readers. It might as well be titled, Talk about how Neat it is to see "dead people".

I suggest that anyone absolutly convinced they see, and hear dead people, would have an obvious depth to their personality.

They would excrude a confidence.

Somehow I suspect that even if I believed in such Pap, I would question a majority of people in this threads authenticity.

And conclude that a portion are perhaps sczio.. as well.

However I would welcome a summary, or transcipt from what "dead people" speak of.. It would be intresting as well to hear hyow such flambonant individuals explain how they are not smothered with "dead people" as the number of deaths is quite high.

I don't see or hear them. However, I do feel them. It is much like a disturbance in the force (not trying to be funny there, it is a good way to explain it).

Stories from my mother tell me that I once did see and talk to them (confirmed by property records of person who died at residences).

Wolf Whisper, I am closer to relating to the idea of "feeling" departed individuals, then seeing, or out right hearing dead people, though for reasons not Paranormal at all, but actually neorophysilogical more parapsycolgogical. A good word here is Sentimantality.. and recollection.. sort of the same catigory of "phantom pains" that amputies experience sensations as if the limb still existed.

I personally have felt such subtle assurances, the mind
and neorophysiology is an amazing thing in itself, without all the mystic fluff so desperatly acclaimed by True Believers.

I do agree. With concerns of "Paranormal", I don't think that word should be used to classify anything that has happened more times than is easy to count. If it was so outside of them norm, why does it happen here? :)

Even a true Believer is apt to be Skeptical of the claims of individuals. Even cynical, the desire is to project themselves as "Unique" and special.. even though they have no evident external talent, or distinguishable abilities, so they make up something extraordinary.

Yes, but we do not classify Religion as paranormal, but it is believer driven. You would think, by now, that many of the things we call "Paranormal" would just be, well not "Normal", but just a thing acknowledged.

It really comes down to a oneupsmanship with people who claim such abibilities..

it also comes down to how orcastrated their testimony is. Prerssed for details they often feign offense.

Although I've seen dozens of these "ghost" video's, this one really creeps me out; perhaps you've seen it. This is as close to "seeing" a ghost as I've ever come.

It just seems as though these two girls are genuine in their fear-perhaps someone was playing a prank on them, but the whole thing seems rather spontaneous, not something you'd put together just to dupe the masses.

Rational Moms
Rational moms of the world unite!
You Don’t See Dead People. And Neither Do Your Kids.
My two-year old daughter, Sally, loves ghosts. Last Halloween, she received the book Sheep Trick or Treat and since then we’ve read it many, many times. Sally points to the ghosts throughout the book and says, “Ooooooooooo” in her best scary voice. This leads to her ghost imitation where she walks around the house with a blanket on her head. Sally decided way back in June that she wants to be a ghost this Halloween. To my daughter, as well as rational people everywhere, ghosts are fictional, frivolous things. We can say this because the existence of ghosts, or any kind of paranormal activity for that matter, has never been credibly documented or recorded using true scientific methods.

In searching online for a ghost costume that will fit Sally better than a sheet (and let me tell you, it’s hard finding a ghost costume that doesn’t make her look like a Klan member), I happened upon a blog for parents of psychic kids. This site promotes “intuitive parenting for intuitive kids.” The posts are from parents who believe their son or daughter sees ghosts (mostly deceased relatives) or has an invisible friend.

Readers of this blog write with glee about how sensitive and perceptive their kids are. Billy communicates with Grandma! Cindy sees angels! Joey talks to an invisible friend! (Note their use of the word invisible rather than imaginary. As a child, my sister had two imaginary friends. We never thought she had a “gift,” we thought she had a screw loose.) The parents are desperate for advice on how to nurture the psychic ability in their “very special” children. It’s sad when adults think they possess psychic abilities, but it’s really sad when they project these ideas onto little kids. Some of the children referenced in posts are only two or three years old.

This phenomenon isn’t limited to the InterWeb. A show called “Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal” aired recently on A&E (that stands for Arts & Entertainment…not exactly the first place I look for scientific commentary). According to the show’s Web site, a medium named Chip Coffey “utilizes both his abilities in the paranormal and his Masters Degree in Psychology when he deals with children who are showing signs of possessing psychic and medium abilities.”

Hmm… Where do I start? The first thing I wanted to know was where Coffee was educated. Unfortunately, I was unable to determine the validity of Coffee’s education claims because he doesn’t cite, at least any where I could find, where he earned his degree. In fact, he doesn’t mention his degree in most descriptions about himself. The best I could find was a claim from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Coffee is “every bit as accurate as John Edward” and the oh-so-respected scientific periodical, InStyle, which says “Chip Coffey is a cross between John Edward and Dr. Phil.” These are dubious claims to begin with, and hardly comprise a laudable list of Coffee’s achievements. Even Wikipedia–itself often questioned as a credible source of information because virtually anyone can edit its contents–has deleted pages about Coffee no less than five times for reasons such as “biographical article that does not assert significance.”

Many believe that these types of programs should be given a pass because they have entertainment value for those who choose to watch them. At the same time, however, it’s really hard to stomach some of the claims made by these shows when they pretend to be scientific about their investigations. Ghost Hunters, for example, uses unproven flashy gadgets to support their points. This mainstream use of pseudoscience (or, arguably, fraud) convinces some viewers of the legitimacy of the stated claims. Fortunately, this entices professional skeptics groups to use real science to show the truth. Credit should also go to programs like Mythbusters that view claims through a skeptical eye.

When children are in the mix, this is particularly sad. The “psychic” kids make claims of extraordinary abilities and their parents encourage it. The kids sense the approval and excitement of their mom or dad when they talk about seeing a “spirit” or having a conversation with Grandma. This is Little-League-Dad gone mad. We all want our kids to be special and unique. (What else can we brag about at the playground?) But, sacrificing rationality for competitive advantage and the chance to live vicariously through your child’s experiences or, much worse, encouraging a belief in something that has no basis in proven reality, makes the result a very questionable “gift.”

Remember, we are not discussing tea service at playtime or the imagined lives of stuffed animals. We’re talking about educated adults that are encouraging children to communicate with the dead. Parents need to realize that children learn most of what informs their development from home, and the power of suggestion from elders is very enticing to a child. If every parent put as much focus into awakening a child’s interest in reading, art, math, music, science, history, or any other truly educational pursuit, we might end up with more literate, accomplished, and rational future generations.

so my question is, and always will be, What is the significance of alledgedly "Seeing dead people"?

As it is presented here, it is novel, and apparently about astonishing people.

Perhaps you overlook that my "gift" may be to " Smell Tall Tale Tellers".

As I mentioned (on topic) white wolfs post is far more reasonable to actually then your flipient acclaimation.

There is a sense that you are phishing for testimony fodder.

I don't think I've seen ghosts. Maybe they do exist. Maybe they don't. Sometimes I've had dreams of people from my life who have died. Yeah, lots of people say that. But sometimes mine are so vivid that it seems almost real. I can see them as clear as day and hear their voices in the dream. But who knows. It was just a dream.

After reading through these posts, particularly Dabbler's, I would have to agree that "ghosts" are nothing more than the figments of over active or accutely stimulated imaginations; the mind is an incredible animal, capable of feats far beyond any finite ability to comprehend. I've seen "things" out of the corner of my eye-quick flashes and glimes of assorted oddities which I attribute to mere tricks of the eyes, that others might claim to be illusive spirits. Perhaps some folks are more sensitive to picking up the presence of something inexplainable, or perhaps its simply an elated case of hallucinary scizophenia. Perfectly normal people occassionally seen things that are visible only to them because they are seeing something abnormal in their minds eye-doesn't mean they're crazy. Just means, perhaps, they should get their eyes checked or their brains checked. I'm not bashing anyone here-to each his own, but I'm inclined to vehemently agree with a quote from Dabbler that some people have a tendancy to over exaggerate when pressured and feign offense when pressed. I too like to believe in the paranormal, but I'm afraid that until I personally witness something of a ghostly appearance, I'll remain a little skeptical, despite trying to maintain an open mind. I believe you when you say you've seen a ghost. But I also believe there is a normal explanation for it as well. I once saw a UFO, convinced I saw it, along with a dozen or so others. In my mind, I was positive I was witnessing something extraordinary, my mind running wild. But as the sun rose in the East, our "UFO" was revealed to be nothing more than a large silver balloon drifting imperceptibly in the thermals, where it remained throughout the day, gradually losing helium and floating into a pasture where we went and stood over it feeling like a bunch of idiots. Stenciled across the side of this balloon, which was approximately six foot in circumfrence, were the words WTOG Weather Force.

Too me such incidents you describe Cooly with the ballon, are far more engaging then an out right "I see dead people."

I like a testimony as much as the next person, about extrodinary anomilies, but I prefer an occasional one when the person get to the end, and says.. ".. it turns out it was a Bird caught in a sheer gown just behing the shed. sure had us going!"

your claim is consistant with form of someone fabricating something. Just an observation.

Was it your intent to have only people who agree with you.. share tesimony.. as I said, this is a clear example of a poll question, or journal entry presented as a thread.

good ol dabbler,

The insight of seeing a ghost would be as they say being intuned with your perseceptions. yet phsically i would not claim it untill i seen one straight on and not as a tricker of my eyes from the side. Ghosts leave alot of schemticism for each, proof yet given factual and with cause could turn the impressions of another in your thought, yet clues given with hesitation i myself become skeptical auidence, much like my thoughts on hypnotism as a scam.

What I have always been curious about is Application, and Practicality. What is accomplished by " seeing dead people".

A few reasonable post here are relavennt directly to those who lost loved ones, and as Sonora states there is closer to a degree, however those post clearly distingush that the person " felt", sensed, or dreamt ( lucidly I assume).

Yet it boggles me why anyone would just be " gifted" to go around attempting to " mystify, and astonish peers".

I would look at the persons overall presentation of themselves, no dought I would see a consistent theme of extraordinary claims.

I understand Dab's reasoning, though he came on a bit urgent, but perhaps it is from watching such abuse by individuals claiming to be " gifted", regardless of whether it is real or not. There are plenty of questions left unanswered by those who claim to be so " gifted".

Wouldn't a person so gifted have a clearer message about WHY the dead are seen?

Definitly Cadre, sadly that is just discarded as mundane by those who sensationally insist that they see "dead people all over"

Give me a dream, or enforced memory any day.

Yet perhaps part of why people make such exteodubary claims I'd to project themselves as being " not afraid", rather then just presenting themselves as " gifted".

Grief is hard enough for people, without indicuals clouding things up with ideals of deceased people loafing around on parade.. if " IF" such a thing was, then Why?

Well stated Cadre,

VB makes a point, please understand I am not angry, but urgent.

I am a skeptic, however certain cases make me cynical. I know there are significant factors, all involve mental, and cognative processes.

Everytime I sat quite in front of my gramas painting I am reminded if her, deeply. Why cheapen that by implying that there is something more exravagant, and implying saying you can do a it in the same manner as claiming you can pitch a 100 mph fastball.

I am not going to say that I believe in the dead but I do believe in spirits. Until you have lived for 5 years in a house that is haunted and the whole time you want to actually die cause of the stuff going on then you {or I should say me } would believe. After that I have this weird ability that I really wish would go away that I can fell spirits when they are around. Yes this is just my opinion along with every one else's but like I said I really wish that I did NOT have to go through the 5 years that I went through. They were not just flashes out of the corner of my eyes.

The last two post are why I am adament about this thread, both posts are
indicating that such concepts have impact on individuals that experience such matters, in various degrees.

Both post are clearly articulated, nothing about them is gratuitious, or sensational.

As opposed to obviously nonchalance demeaners present in other post relating to the concept.

How in the world I have missed this prior to now is beyond me.

This thread WILL BE closed if it keeps in an argumentative state.

There is NO reason to be rude to fellow posters just for not sharing the same beliefs.

It is fine to disagree but it IS NOT fine to be outright rude to others. I've seen at least one post that is bordering on me closing the thread all together so please play nice from this point on or I will close it.

This sounds like Atonia to me.I've talked about it in many threads. My sis used to spend her life in fear because of this until I explained it to her. This safety mechanism that we all share between sleep states.
As for the other "sightings" We as humans are sensitive to subtle shifts in electromagnetic and torsion fields around us.We are visual beings and sometimes our minds process things that might in fact, not be there. Many times I feel we are premature in declaring that anytime we feel these shifts,we are feeling spirits or whatever.Perhaps sometimes they could be spirits..but not always.

Well, not to be a party blower, but, I don't see dead people, I do see people die, almost everyday. And let me tell you, after you cross into the "other side", there is no return. Most of the "ghost" are hallucination created by the frontal lobe of the brain. 2cent2thetopic.

I was just watching a video about the effects of impaired frontal lobes and how they effect sight/ perception.

They used a device to pulse, and disturb signals in the frontal lobe, and in many cases the subjects experienced " presence".

I would have to agree that some things we see are actually images created by our brain. The imagination can be a very powerful tool indeed. There are some cases where these images or spirits that are seen have been photographed and recorded. I would think that if this energy that they are made up of can be transferred to a digital image, then we should be able to sometimes catch a glimpse of them with the human eye. I know in my life I have seen things I really wished I hadn’t, but some I can easily dismiss as imagination and others I would have to look at a slight bit differently. I have often wondered, how often can they see us? Perhaps there is something to all of this that we have not yet come to understand. And perhaps they are taking photos of us and EVP’s from where ever they are.

I don't exactly "see" the dead.

I do feel the presence of spirits. Whether they are human or not or just me being crazy is undetermined.

Sometimes I do see images, but that's rare.

My girlfriend sees the same all the time, I can't see them.
She says two of them are spirits of her friends who commited suicide, and now they want her to join them in the afterlife. The third is even worse ; it's a tall man with a hoodie so my gf never see his face, and it's telling her to die, it's getting inside of her head. I know she's not crazy because although I can't see them, I've seen cuts in her body coming out of nowhere, it's driving me crazy !
How can I get rid of her two friends, and that third, thing... ?

The dead or just bodily challenged? lol Spirits we see are not always those that have passed in my own theories. There's different levels of the things we see, sense or feel.
I have ran across a few ghostly dreams of people whom have passed on. Nothing ghost-like in reality so far.

Heres a question for the ghosty people, why do they always see them in olde worldy places?

You know, spooky Castles;
and yet not on the M25 where people are regularly burnt and horrifically smashed to pieces on a regular basis? Nothing, yet the place should be littered with ghosts doing doughnuts in GTi's?

It seems tarmacadum and concrete repel ghosts or perhaps they don't like road noise?

P.s. I haven't seen them and Ive seen alot of death close up but some people I respect do see peoples "deamons/gheists."so I'm saluting the respect thread.

often its something thats keeping them here unfinished business like from saying sorry for something or just that they are free of pain...........but i have come accross an old man that didnt know he was dead so was sat at his same stool at the bar wondering why people wasnt talking to him anymore , I have sat in on many medium meetings and seeing the glow of the person being told things that others couldnt possibly know apart from them and the departed is proof enough for them and thats all that matters..........so you can have your scientific excuses and resoning and we will have our faith and guides to help us help others move on in life or death

"so you can have your scientific excuses and resoning and we will have our faith and guides to help us help others move on in life or death"

Id like to ask who is " we" and who is "you".Like "we" are an elite group?

If anything,it is those "scientific excuses" that actually lend any credibilty to happenings of this nature. It cannot be helped that some of those explainations shoot down certain things that just arent paranormal. So I cant say I really understand this we/you mentality when it comes to this stuff.I for one experience these things more often than I dont.Every single day in fact. And it has been through science, that I have found more validation than any other explaination such as blind faith or personal accounts.People lie, they exaggerate and they make mistakes.
So can we get off that friggin train? The whole "science sucks but I believe it so it must be true" ? Look at it this way, there are those who really want to validate what happens to them by researching and trying to figure out reasons as to why this type of stuff happens instead of just leaving it strictly to faith.Even if it is only a few at a time..I know Im not under a false impression that we can find it all .Know this also, that alot of those who are open to scientific reasonings experience the "paranormal" just as much as those who are not.And anytime someone asks a question about it,doesnt mean that they are automatically critisizing it.What I dont get is why anytime anyone brings up a scientific explaination, everyone gets their underwear in a knot. But I do know that when someone reacts that way? It is because they really couldnt care less about any kind of truth.jmho

And I STILL would like to know what the dead actually say.And what it sounds like.I am mostly interested in the latter because if one does not have working vocal chords, how might they communicate? That is a valid and genuine question..why will no one tell? One post describes a gentleman who doesnt know he is deceased..is this the case with all? What kind of unfinished business do they claim is unfinished?

I would also like to know how one of the living might help the deceased cross over, when we dont even know in this dimension?Do you simply tell them it is ok? And in your mind, how would they hear us? There are no ears in the dead.Do you do it with a thought? or a sound that creates a frequency that both living and dead entities can understand?

Wow, How can I say, "The dead can not talk, there is no nerve system to control the Vocal cord". Every person that assumed that they are listening to the dead, after they are check by the professionals, there is always something wrong with the frontal Lobe of the brain. My two cents!!

The whole concept is built around two sisters who once performed as a Parlor Troupe, when radio made them obsolete, they went from Social Icebreaking parties, to smozing bereved people.

Mentalist would, and still do perform such " phenomenal feats" of " apparent astonishing nature".

Why are people compelled to fabricate talking to etheral beings?

At least back in the days a demonstration was offered.

I personally became involved in a Spiritualist Center, and I will tell you from observation, that those who would have marks believe they speak with deceased persons, are far from buying their own BS.

If a lingering memory brings about a dream, then the bereved is grieving properly. Sitting in grandpas chair.. smelling his pipe tabacco..

Shame on sensationalist, that would have content people long for something more astonishing.

Leading people to believe they possess the power to " pass over" loved ones, when all it takes is personal reconcilation, and sometimes even visiting the friends of the bereved.. what substituite is a person reading from a script, because every session I have witnessed come across like a bad game of charades.

How sgnificant is any information?

Such information in my observation ( 5 months envolved with practicing Mediums) is very general, and never followed up on.

People who are grieving are seriously neglecting proper coping skills by attending Mediums. You ask us to "explain" how a person can relate personal information.

Isnt it just too silly how everytime a Medium is exposed others throw them under a bus as fake.

I agree with you Bella, there are an amazing amount of fakes out there, and the alleged " genuine" mediums need to step up to the plate and offer the consumers some significant protection.

Because as this thread demonstrates there are so many people claiming to be able to chat with ghost it is enough to make even true believers jaded.

Please understand my urgancy in my post is inspired by having seen the exploitation first hand of those who seek the services of mediums, and those led to believe that they can take expensive courses to " develop their gifts".

To wrap up,

I would rather have the talent, and skill to help an individual develop positive grieving exercises, then to have some alledged astonishing phenomenal gift.

You're right Bella, there is no need to be snotty. So lets say we ALL follow that advice ya?
I do not need a so called real medium to tell me or proove anything, because,as I have said,I have my own experiences that proove to me that things happen.. alot of them. But you see,Im not one who will just jump on the band wagon by professing it happens and simply leave it at that.I want to know how,and it is my own goal to hopefully find processes and mechanisms that would allow for it.And in that search,I have found that not all of these so called paranormal things are 'paranormal at at all.In fact there are quite a number of them that in can be explained. As for my beliefs...you see that post count under my name there? I didnt get them by posting in the sandbox. It is not hard to see where I stand if you really feel like going into the archives. You can also look at my profile to understand my feelings and how I see things...thats not just a pretty page I tried to build about nothing.
What I dont understand is how ,if it happens so much to peeps around here, that they can just sit and accept without at least attempting to learn something of its nature.Im sorry, but when I defend something,I want to know a litlle of what Im defending.

When it comes to seeing the dead and science, I think maybe I should bring something up .One of the biggest things right now is detecting spirits with Electromagnetic detectors. There have been many, many claims about readings and such when spirits are thought to be around. So if they are able to pick up these anomolies with EMDs then that should tell us that spirits might very well reside within the electromagnetic field. Now,you tell me,where does the paranormal end and the science begin? Or Visa/versa.It all goes hand in hand guys.
And no,Bella,it isnt easy to explain things that doesnt happen to everyone. But there are some of us who do try,so others can hopefully understand some day.Including ourselves.

I am still interested in those that see or hear the dead in normal places of trauma like hospitals?

Just for the record I do know of one medium that does and apparently she sees them everywhere. An intersesting gift;

She also has more credibility than most being a published author and assisting the Police in finding bodies and suspects.

It would be interesting to compare different abilities and look for common traits, be they spiritual or genetic.

Something that was brought up earlier in the thread was, why there doesnt seem to be hauntings in more contemporary and newer buildings and such. After all, many of a city's buildings are built upon old sites, many where there was intense suffering etc..
I do agree that there are some who are genuine.I would also like to point out that while these mediums are very helpful in solving alot of cases, they do not solve all, and are wrong alot as well. This ,from what I have observed over a long period of time is part of an overall pattern. These things never seem to be consistant and if anyone who has had alot of experiences will note, there appears to be cycles. One week you might experience a whole rash of things, and the next week,..nothing.I personally feel this is not due to the individual's concious effort necessicarily, but more attributed to natural shifts in the individual's frequencies, as well as Magnetic and Torsion fields.Which incidently, for the record,it is in these Torsion fields that I believe the Akashic record might very well exsist.

I believe when we are in our sleeping stages, we are prone to receive information on the outside or from outside sources, thus it also makes it easier on the dreamer to handle what is being "seen" versus outward visuals that make cause us to react the wrong way.
Should a ghost on an outwardly scale cross my path, i would be questioning if it is an "intelligent" being (or one that reacts to something said), or just one that repeats itself over and over like dejavu or time repetitiveness.

Akashic Records

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A theosophical term referring to an universal filing system which records every occurring thought, word, and action. The records are impressed on a subtle substance called akasha (or Soniferous Ether). In Hindu mysticism this akasha is thought to be the primary principle of nature from which the other four natural principles, fire, air, earth, and water, are created. These five principles also represent the five senses of the human being.

Some indicate the akashic records are similar to a Cosmic or collective consciousness. The records have been referred to by different names including the Cosmic Mind, the Universal Mind, the collective unconscious, or the collective subconscious. Others think the akashic records make clairvoyance and psychic perception possible.

It is believed by some that the events recorded upon that akasha can be ascertained or read in certain states of consciousness. Such states of consciousness can be induced by certain stages of sleep, weakness, illness, drugs, and meditation so not only mystics but ordinary people can and do perceive the akashic records. Some mystics claim to be able to reanimate their contents like they were turning on a celestial television set. Yogis also believe that these records can be perceived in certain psychic states.

Certain persons in subconscious states do read the akashic records. An explanation for this phenomena is that the akashic records are the macrocosm of the individual subconscious mind. Both function similarly, they possess thoughts which are never forgotten. The collective subconscious gathers all thoughts from each subconscious mind which can be read by other subconscious minds.

An example of one who many claimed successfully read the akashic records is the late American mystic Edgar Cayce. Cayce did his readings in a sleep state or trance. Cayce's method was described by Dr. Wesley H. Ketchum who for several years used Cayce as an adjunct for his medical practice. "Cayce's subconscious...is in direct communication with all other subconscious minds, and is capable of interpreting through his objective mind and imparting impressions received to other objective minds, gathering in this way all knowledge possessed by endless millions of other subconscious minds." Apparently Cayce was interpreting the collective subconscious mind long before the psychiatrist C.J. Jung postulated his concept of the collective unconscious. A.G.H.

Very insightful post, Oceanne. I've heard of this collective consciousness or these akasha records. I've heard that there are records within us, we just need to learn how to access it. There are different levels of consciousness within us so it makes sense that we are connected to the collective consciousness. The people that are more in tune with their inner self and their senses can see or experience things that other people can't.

I believe that young children and older people are more sensitive to paranormal activity or spiritual energy because they are closer to death or just starting life. There are also those that always have strange experiences and those that know how to open themselves to an experience, like psychics. I have always been a very sensitive person and I've had experiences with things I can't explain and can't really forget lol. I've had experiences from age 3 to 14, as long as I can remember. But after age 14 I seemed to loose my sight on anything unusual and it turned more to my dreams. I've seen my grandmother in my dreams a few months after she passed away. Other than that, I haven't seen anything since I moved to the house I live in now.

With that said, just know that you are not alone. Some people can sense those that passed and some people can't. I hope that you remain strong and resilient towards these spirits that visit you, if they are not friendly. Just let them know that you are in control. You have to be strong minded and strong willed. I wish you good luck.

You could say that there's a spectrum that exists that we can tune into like a radio station, and when we "attune" this information on it's specific wave-length, we are in a sense tuning into other subtleties of "Reality", in the same way you can tune into a broadcasting signal, you will be able to connect to multidimensional consciousness and see what exists beyond the relatively tiny frequency range known as "visible" light.

When I was a young child I would see things that others couldn't, I never said a thing to my parents about this, because I didn't want them to think I was crazy, but as I got older things changed and I could only see the dead in my sleep.

Up until my early 20's I always thought people who "saw ghosts" were either full of you know what or just seeking attention. I never saw them. I'm a very compassionate, sensitive, helpful person.. I mean, if anyone would see one, it'd be me, right?

Well.. when I was 22, I was online on yahoo talking to my friend Michael from Germany. I had literally JUST starting drinking screwdrivers, so I wasn't drunk. Anyway, we were talking, and (yes, I guess I'm full of myself) instead of looking at his camera, I had my camera on top looking at myself, lol. Anyway, I saw this .... umm .... woman in a fluttery white sheerish kind of dress. It was floor length and had long fluttery sleeves. I don't remember the face, but I remember the woman being old. I saw it in the webcam behind me. So, I turned around, and no one was there. Michael than typed, hey, who was that lady? and I just froze. I says to him, you saw her? And he said, "Yeah, who was that?", and I said to him.. "I have no idea. I am alone." I get the goosebumps now just thinking about it.

Ever since then, I don't know if I believe in the whole sixth sense "I see dead people" and see them everywhere I go type of thing, but I do believe that their is some sort of something out there!
