I was reading the spirit guide thread and it reminded me of an incident that occured to me a couple of months ago.

For a couple of months I picked up a malevolent spirit. I do believe I probably attracted this girl for two reasons.

1.) I was in a bad place... weak, depressed, looking for work etc.

2.) I also am too inquisitive about other people's emo states... so I prolly looked right at the thing and it saw lunch... LOL

Anyway, it followed me arround harrassing me for some time, and it took several attempts to shut it out... I probably did a bad thing and let it move on to someone else instead of attempting to deal with it; as someone who had more power and concience than I had at teh time would have.

Are any of you, at the moment or otherwise, going (have gone) through something similar and how did you deal with it. Are you satisfied with the way you dealt with it?

If any of you have proficiency with dealing with dealing with these unwanted spirits, could you elucidate us with your advice?

I know when I lived in Okinawa they believed that throwing salt over your shoulder when you get home keeps spirits from entering your house. They believe that spirits can follow you home from the cemetaries. I am not sure of a good way to get rid of them besides banishing them.

You can light a bundle of sage and walk
through you house every nook and cranny
and say " In the name of God I rebuke
you from this dwelling" . If that does not
work call a priest.

since the age of 7 I have diferent from good to malvelent spirits following me or harrassing me, usually it last 2 or 3 years, but I do have 2 that follow me since I was 7, a man and a woman, both silent at times or agressive, never speaking but do hurt when I ginore them to long

I have had the good and bad ones follow me. Some seem attracted to me for different reasons. Usually it seems as if the fact I can see them attracts them, as if my noticeing them.. makes them notice me.

Luckily for me the one spirit that has been with me from.. well he says birth lol I remember him from about 3... is usually the one that deals with the bad ones.

Lately tho ( the last 4 or 5 years) he has been showing me a way to deal with them.. its a banashing of a sort. It has taken me quite some time to get this to work for me more than not. It is a form of visualation and energy manuplation combined... it sounds simple .. but all you do is see a bolt or a ray or how ever its easiest for you.. of white energy ( I suppose any color you associate with cleanseing will work) moveing from you to the spirit you wish to banish.

The sage will work.. altho I admit I have never heard of invoking God with it...Its usually thought of as a Native American thing... when I use it I innoke the Great Spirit and Great Mystery. But invoke the diety you hold with and it should work well.

I have heard that salt on the doorway and windowsill will keep spirits out.

I think the simplest way is be FIRM.

First relax, then send out message to the effect........I do not want you here, give a mental push then sharpen up your shielding.

Would be a nice thing if you could also direct or ask for help to be given if wanted.

well i believe that some people do things that can bring spirits or other beings to them such as conjurings,spells even just thinking i think these entities see these livving persons as a gate also as a way to express through them.i in my past have when unexperienced in magick have done certian things that brough such beings to me andevery once in a while they will try to come back.

I have heard this referred to as an attachment or shadowing. The spirit finds someone that is in a vulnerable emotional state and sticks with that person. I think that this happens because the spieit is draw to someone that is experienceing the same over whelming emotions that the spirit was feeling at the time of it's death. So it is kind of sticking to something familiar. I have heard that attachments are extremely difficult to get rid of so I doubt that it went away, it is probably just dormant (I don't know how else to put it) If it hasn't harmed you or any one then I think all you have to worry about is your emotional state.

A lot goes into dealing with these types of spirits..... When it comes down to it I have dealt with a few by performing spells..... but that doesn't work for everyone.... you need to find your niche and work with it... sorry I can't offer anything else but I haven't had to deal with anymore than the two I have met.

I have encountered no such thing thus far. Perhaps someday I will, but it's nothing I look forward to.

i have them follow me good and bad, sage is a very good thing, i also do a banishing negative energy spell and if it gets too bad i have a really good house cleansing spell that i will use, but the sage and the banishing negative energy spells are working great right now

For several years I had the feeling of negative spirits, energies, whatever you wish to call them stalking me in my basement. When I'm in the computer room at night, I keep the door shut because across the little walk way, my laundry area is creepy as hell. None of my friends feel comfortable there at night - even those who are skeptical and don't believe that spirits exist.

Whenever I would go upstairs to go to bed(didn't matter what time), I'd feel whatever was waiting for me outside the computer room door chase me all the way up the stairs. Sometimes it stayed behind, other times it'd follow me into my bedroom.

I didn't start feeling comfortable in my basement at night again until almost two months ago. I finally get fed up with being afraid of my own basement, and I literally screamed outloud "GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ME! I DO NOT WANT YOU BOTHERING ME ANYMORE!". Apparently, this spirit that was hanging around got the picture that I was annoyed with it. I still feel occassionally, but it doesn't get under my skin as much as it used to.

Now for my "in a nutshell" resolution, lol, I have a couple of crystals I can recommend for you to check out that will protect you from spirits like the one that seemed to attach itself to you. It'll take me a day or two to do the full research, but I will message you privately with my findings. :-)

I have an energy barrier in my apartment. It's designed of 7 crystals throughout the apartment and one nice crystal singing bowl. When the energy gets weird I play the bowl and reinforce the crystals. It seems to keep the weird energies at bay. I don't know if it works for ghosts and spirits, but I've always got a medium energy in the apartment. I need it here because I'm very sensitive to energy and need to have the ability to hide away from outside energy sometimes. You might try setting up something similar.

havent had any bad spirits following me lately but ive got one that likes to read over my shoulder and likes to breath heavy while doing so...hes harmless george likes to hide my car keys as well...i dont think ive ever ran into one..but i know who o ask if i need help...plenty of good people here who would help!

Well I did have a incubus following me around and doing things to me. So I talked to my friend Grant from that show and he said to ignore it and it'll go away and sure enough it went away! So my best advice from me and Grant to you all is ignore the malevolent spirit and it'll go away!

Or is that their purpose... are they "banes" that only feed of the negative energy? Should they just be banished, trapped, destroyed... or should I take the effort to heal them?

I've only heard a few things about keeping spirits or ghosts happy. One that has always worked for me is putting a glass of salt water in the area where I usually saw them. After doing that they left me alone.. but again who knows exactly.

I have heard many stories of events like those already mentioned spirits following them or associated with a certain spot. As for myself I can't 'see' anything but I can sense, hear, feel, and smell (as weird as that may sound) and have encountered several. Very few however follow me for any length of time. Sometimes I have had the sensation that a place is 'off' or of being watched, etc.

My general advice is to not let them get under your skin and don't be afraid to talk to them.

I picked up a malevolent spirit once on a trip to Oregon. He was all around me until we stopped at a small gift shop in the middle of nowhere Colorado. The native American lady inside took one look at me and insisted I take a small turquoise ring as a gift. The spirit's intensity and hold upon me did subside. I knew his name and will never speak it again in reference to him. How did I rid myself of him? I simply stopped acknowledging him.

I have lived, for most of my life, with a very negative father.. He attracts many of this kind, so I have had lots of experience, as they kinda just rub off onto me.

Usually I just tell them to go back to where they came from and leave everyone alone.

...Oddly nuff, it works.. So eh.

i remember that after i saw my grandpa die i would keep seeing him in my dreams and always see some kind of shadow in the corner or the room at night
and since i am affraid of the dark i thought that it was something or someone wanting to hurt me, but then later on i realized that iti was harmless

what i am trying to say is that it all depends on those who are weak minded and dont believe in things like this will ever happen to them...sometimes when it does you could tell straight off if it is someone good or not
so a fare warning would be to be careful and to try and find out what it wants and if it is meant to harm you or someone else then that is when you need defence, if not then try to help them so that they could pass on peacfully

I grew up in a home where my family were all the time telling of the Good things a spirit can do. Mostly it's that of a loved one. "Angels" and "Ghosts" and such. I personally believe that while a spirit can do good and all, it most likly won't be someone who's passed, more often it is simply another spirit using the deceased form. That way you won't be scared or frightened on it. I believe a lot of different things though so that might make as much sense as a veggitarian going into a restraunt and asking for a steak. Sorry if it makes that much sense.

've had something bugging me I dont know if it were a spirit or not but it was intence for a few years then it just left.

You ask how to help a Spirit......until you have the knowledge and training to do anything else, I would say prayer and leave it at that.

I believe that i have been in the presence of spirits, or ghosts, it's a feeling that i get, that's distinguishable from anything else that i feel. it's like a can feel a static charge in the air, a chill, a voice i don't know, something.

there are grudge and shadowing spirits, usually if you do not acknowledge them they will move on. They are just very pesty and try to make things miserable for you, just ignore them and they will move on, or tell them to go away. sometimes they listen.

Sage is a good thing to have.. Walk through the house with and say a blessing ... I also do have some house blessings. If you would like to message me, I am sure I can find one for you.

Healer marks are often found on the hands of physicians and nurses, midwives... etc; it is a palmestry thing. There are a couple of different kinds, it usually indicates an overwhelmiong desire in the individual to heal those arround them that are in suffering.

Well now, I haven't had too much expirience with malevolent spirits, since every spirit I tend to notice happens to flee once spotted with me. But I have had one incident where a friend of me whom I am spiritually bound to, my soul mate, was being pestered by a spirit and it was a surprisingly easy task to get rid of even though she was several states away. You can feed off of spirits. Just sap them dry of all their energy and they simply cease to exist. The energy is very cold when compared to that you can get from someone or something alive. But the mount of energy that you would have to absorb would obviously vary based upon the strength of the spirit. Unfortunately, ridding one's self of a spirit in this manner evidently draws the attention of others and you may soon find yourself flooded with spirits. Or you may get lucky and nothing will happen. I've only done this once, so I'm no expert. Don't know if that's going to be of any help to anyone out there but I figured I'd at least throw in my two cents worth into this conversation.

if your into wicca, there arew a bunch of rituals you can do to keep spirits out of your home.

i personally think anyone who emits any kind of emotions or feelings is susceptable to having some kinda spirit getting attached to them

i think BloodxCreep is right..i work in a old folks home is alota strang things..its becase of state we are in they come to us

you could always excersise the spirt away, and at the time you didn't know what to do so just let it go and find out more info for that kind of problem if it happens again.

Well I tend to agree with the Myans on this one the best way to deal with them is to face them. They are like nightmares at times and its better to face them then to run from them. Once you accept them and they realize they cant harm you they will either be helpful or leave. I have done this a few times and that is the way that its worked for me.

Well what did this spirit do to you? How did she aggravate or annoy you?

I had a spirit follow my sister and I when I lived in North Carolina with her. This spirit lived in a trailer park, back near the woods. Every time I walked by myself in the woods, this spirit would follow me. I once asked the spirit what they wanted, but they laughed like a little child and took off. I seen her once. She had blond curls and she wore a dress from back in the days. She never talked, so only laughed. But since I moved here (to California), I have not experienced anything.

I've never experienced what you're describing. However, it sounds a bit like you had you own personal poltergeist [ something like one, but not exactly so ]. I'd figure you'd deal with it the way you'd deal with one [poltergeist].

Sence I was very little I have had the same spirit follow me. I have only been able to see him three times, but I feel him near me most of the time. I have become to believe he is my mothers uncle. I don't need to banish or get rid of him. But he is definately following me.

ok i have never had a spirit follow me, but my boyfriend talks about something that follows him and watches him quite often, but it iwll however not enter his house. It will follow him in a car, and sit outside his window but it will not come into his house.

Now being a psy vamp and knowing the myths, psy vamps in spirit form will not enter a house without being invited in. So maybe that was his case.

i have 3 spirits and they are all bound to me not the place in which i live

I have a spirit that stays with me but i wouldnt ask her to leave as she is kind and i feel she is there for my good will.

I was lucky I met a Reiki Master who helped me out and allowed me to get free of them, after 30 years of having them, took him over 8 months but he manage to free me.

I am able now to live free, I still see spirits and interact with them, but now I do it freely and no more pain. Beside the mild unconfort at times

well when i was living in my other apt
i found out it was a glorified crack house and there was a very powerful , evil spirit in there we spoke to him and asked the spirit if he was going to hurt anyone, and he said he wated to kill someone im the group, so we tried to free the spirit, or tired to make things fare between him and us but he wouldnt so we ended up moving out cuz he was hiding things on us being extreamly loud at night locking us in our rooms ....
he wouldnt leave us be

I too would call a priest, when I lived in Italy I had a haunted house. Well this spirit followed me from one house to another, finally I got fearfull enough to just tell them to leave me alone that they had no power over me and they were unwanted. I was lucky, it worked for this spirit. But not all spirits are as easy to get rid of.

SO be careful, I would just call a priest.

i try using sea salt white sage and an amethyst... and dragns blood couldn't hurt... simply ask the spirit what it needs / wants and tell it if you can help it and if you can't ask it to leave if it doesn't then i woud turn to rebuking and priest calling... all the luck

i have. i had one suck the breath out of me while doing a form of meditation. after i removed my hands off my alter, i was able to breath once again.

How malevolent was the spirit? Did this spirit want to cause you harm or harm anyone around you...if you say you have the hands of a healer then maybe they were just trying to get your attention as they were in need of what you could do for them.

As far as getting rid of them and them moving on to someone else who may have better experience with them then I see no harm in that.

I delt with something simular but I was a child.And as I got older and learnd that if I acknowleded it the thing would respond and sometimes stay away.When I became a teenager and went threw some hard ships in my life the thing came back sometimes would cause harm sometimes would move objects i got blamed.I have not seem to have gotten rid of it though as i grew into an adult and studied the possablitys that 2 things had happend the less of the entity seems to bother me how ever now I am a magnet to many more entitys go figure...I am haunted

I don't know about the spirits following people home. I mean, I believe it's possible, because there are those of us that are more sensitive and spirits are drawn to people that they can communicate with easier...or those that notice them more anyway.

I have been in quite a few cemeteries, ghost hunting and I have never noticed any extra "people" living here.

My friend had a evil spirit in here house it was uncomfortable until we got rid of it
