I don't pretend to know a lot about lycans and lycanthropy, but this idea hit me while posting in another thread.

Is it possible, if you believe in re-incarnation, that an animal reincarnating to a human will produce a Lycan?

Or to put it another way: If a wolf dies, and gets reincarnated and transgresses to a human, will that human become a werewolf?

Is this also why some of us have totem animals, or animal spirit guides, or simply feel affinities with certain animals? Is it linked to what we were in a past life? I wonder...

No. The entire idea of coming back is to progress. The idea of supernatural beings would imply that they would not come as human.

Perhaps it is totem spirits that you mean, where the person takes on the likeness of the animal spirit to progress their spiritual journey. I would not call this part of the Lycanthropy.

Well, wouldn't it be seen as a progression to go from an animal to a human being? We are, after all, at the top of the food chain, as it were.

But having said that, who said that the entire point of re-incarnation is to progress? Maybe the point of it is to experience everything about life that we can, and that isn't possible for just one species.

from what i understand having a totem anamule has nothing to do with lycanthropy the use of a totam anamule is one trying to invoke the strenths of said totem to inhancce that persions owne strengths

I never said that totems are connected to lycanthropy. My questions was whether a past life as an animal has any bearing on things such as lycanthropy, totems etc.

That was my point that it is not related to lycanthropy.

Who says? Perhaps some studies are required in the religions that believe in being reborn. You are born to experience yes, and to progress. The idea is you make the same mistakes over and over until you get past them.

I do not think that trying to prove myth with spirit works. Unless it is metaphor, and then it would need clearer definitions.

While I understand the question at hand and do think it may be possible that from a past life we are attracted to certain things or species, such as dogs or cats or wolves, I don't think it's possible to become apart of that species from a past life.

I don't personally believe in cross species reincarnation, I do believe you can come back, but still human only.

I simply believe that our current life is affected in some way by our past lives. I thought maybe lyancthropy etc could have something to do with this.

I thought it was an interesting theory. How much do we REALLY know about all this to say a definite yes OR no?

we use what 10percent of our brain. it could be pasted memorys you know like how some animals kmow where breeding grounds are at with out everybeing there. the word lycanthropy is a word use for mental problem where people the the are a werewolf. I dont really understand my people embrace this word...maybe some to do with a movie...hmmmmm.lol I just think of the word lycan as a slave name

I don't see why none of that can't be true. The thing I know about lycans is that they experience the inbetween from their higher and lower selves. (meaning the feelings between their human and animal selves) They walk a middle path.

I've always had a special connection with wolves. I don't know, but it gives you something to think about...

I think it´s a good theory... that would explain, in some way, why people is so related to certain animals or have some traits of certain animals... or on the other hand, some phobias ...

i don't know about the totem animal bit - the totem of my people is the boar - but i don't change into a werepig (or do i ? hmmmmm)

You must remember this above all things. If you believe it then its true for you it matters not what others think only what you believe matters.

Now as to what I believe, yes it could be one of many ideas as to how Were’s came in to being. My belief in this is that I was born with this gift, where it was made I have no idea all I know is that I am going to use it to do great things.

Sorry CV,I have to disagree wth your theory.Since I don't believe in reincarnation..I can't agree with being reincarnated from an animal to man or vice versa.As for lycanthropy,as I stated in many other threads,it has to do with a chemical imbalance in the brain...that causes one to "believe" they are a wolf.Native Americans mostly believe in the animal spirit guide,as mine is the wolf,been since I was 5 and being 1/4 Apache...I know this.

I believe in reincarnation but I really do not think that if you died as a wolf and came back as a human that you would become a werewolf.

i dont claim to be an expert on lycanthyrophy but i do know a bit and ive never heard anything like this before. i can see where your idea comes from but i doubt it. id say that if a wolf trasgress into a human they might develope anamilistic traits such as alpha dominance but to actually become a lycanthrope is doubtful

That's a very interesting theory. However, based upon my own beliefs regarding reincarnation, I'd have to say no. That's only because I believe that we are reincarnated into like creatures--humans to humans. Still, a most tantalizing possibility... ;)

Well, technicly all is possible, really all.

But I believe that a bunch of predetermind rules here, in this universe, is forbiding such a case.


Usualy what happends with that is that lesser souls get incarnated in to a human body, way too early, and that is causing problems to that person.

I think it is possible because I believe in reincarnation....... and that's how I actually see things.....being reincarnated into an animal or man or a being of some kind

I doubt it. Reincarnation is to lead to a higher plane of existance..not to devolve.

I do think it is possible what you said about totem animals, i think that people can reincarnate into animals and if that is true then we would have memories of being a certain animal in a past life just like some people have memories of being certain people in past lives...

I don't think it could happen that way. However I don't know much about reincarnation since I don't know that I believe in, so who am I to say yes or no? It just seems a bit far fetched is all.

Oh, I believe that's totally possible in a way, but not a surety.
Like this, everybody would have an apparent animal-like spirit if this theory was a surety.
However, I can see it as if you were a wolf in past lives. More than once. Or the lifespan of being a wolf was longer than your others.

first off Lycanthropy is only a curse if you make it such. It can be a blessing. It has nothing to do with cross reincarnation, your just kinda born with it

I think people are reincarnated and that their spirt may come into contact with an animale spirt. Certain traits may transfer to the other.
I believe that I choose all my pets and that they choose me, because it was fated to be that way.
