I found your post very informative, there are times when some of the rituals I read are very expensive or don't really work. but I have found what you said very helpful in that respect, I thank you. =)
It is one of the Tenets, right up there with Harm None.
Do you feel that openly discussing magic and ritual and witchcraft undermines the 'keep silent' portion of the pyramid? That's not to be catty or argumentative but simply to ask whether such public forums could also undermine a witches confidence and focus if they are not strong willed enough or do you feel that it must be spell specific and not a general 'keep silent'.
Felix, yes I do feel this way. ...not for the public forum! Again it's something taught in Covens. So you can see how many have been traditionally schooled , in the ways of the Occult.
the aforementioned sections are Hermetic Axioms, taken from the Kabyllon written by the three initiates. It is not witchcraft but works the same as a good guide to any who study something which could get them into problems if they are stupid and talk about it to the wrong sort.
Felix,
I am a firm beleiver that education will help with lessening fear of the unknown and hopefully some discrimination.
Thus, general education about magic and the various pagan/occult religions is a good thing.
I also feel that once a path is decided upon, then there will be things learned that do not necessarily need to be shared.
But, general education...a good good thing.
My two cents.
I feel the silent part is to protect the witch from discovery, torture, and death. Some places this still required.
quite informative, however do u have any relevent questions? (to the person who started the thread!)
the silent is one thing i need to work on...as if I get to a point where I ma bugg and bugg and bugg over I tend to open and talk....thnak you for the reminder
I found it to be very interesting and informative. It seems that the secret part is meant for those you are casting a spell on. I can't see the harm in educating people such as myself who like to learn from these threads.
One keeps silent about the spell they caste because it is unwise to tell another, especially if the spell is successful. Not because they may condemn you but because it makes you sound like a braggert.
The rest of the Pyramid is a recipe for casting a spell. It works for anyone who follows the directions. Well, some of them anyhow.
I think that in modern times, to Dare also comes into play when you're talking about being pagan in a fundamentalist Christian climate. It takes a certain inner strength to be a witch, and a large amount of self-knowledge. That self-knowledge is only gained through daring to take a good hard honest look at yourself.
Of course, in such a climate, keeping silent is a little important too. ;)
Very informative, especially for someone that could use it for starting to use spells but like XSilverxMoonxNightX said, whats the question here?
I suppose what I was alluding to was that fact that silence is also a form of modesty and that modesty is considered by many to be a good attitude to have about dealing with larger and more unexplained forces in the world. Therefore, not only silence about your spell, but silence about your skill, power, or status in the metaphysical world would seem to keep your energy in use for your practical purposes as opposed to being spent on convincing others of the veracity of your claims.
The main reason for this tenet was for protection. just like one of the tenets in The Black Vail, is not not reveal yourself to outsiders and and cause attention to yourself and the community.
I disagree. I think neither this tenet nor the Veil (especially the Veil) is for the 'protection' of it's practitioners. First of all because there are not (much to the disappointment of Kheparu) - repeat not - vampire slayers running around trying to impale it's members nor modern witch hunters running through the western world burning witches at the stake.
Not all tenets or rules in witchcraft were created with the idea in mind that the members were a hunted prey. I would postulate that most groups of pagans didn't have much in the way of specific written ritual 'rules' at all. This is most likely a convention of Wicca. If this witch's Pyramid is older and of pagan origin, then it would hail back to a time when witches weren't persecuted. If it's not that old (perhaps created around Wicca's birth in the 1920's or the Wiccan Reed in the 50's) then it's during a time where there was little or no persecution left.
This post is very helpful. I am new to this only aliittle over a year and all teh info I can get is helpful to me
i think its a good post brings about the truth sooner or later.
now this type of post is why I joined vampire rave. To further my knowledge thank you so much for sharing some of your knowledge with me.
There are no hidden secrets, only one's we are yet to discover... apokalupsis eschaton - "revelation at the end of the aeon, or age."
thank you for the information I had not known this before
I liked this post.....For some younger teens get into magick and don't understand what can come back to you...without the proper knowledge. I know many times young teens will ask me about magick or Wicca...but that must hide it because their parents reject the whole idea of them even having such a book in the home.
LadyDarkRayne, as always darlin, you enlighten us with knowledge :-) Without you I may be lost in my new adventures.
I read the others post of the silence.......and agree that you should keep it to yourself....however I believe that you need to educate others and once educated.....that would be when you should be more .....silent in your practices. I think that is more of what the silent part comes in.
again my dearest LadyDarkRayne, thank you for your sharing
very good post, thank you for giving the information out.
The Witches' Pyramid and the Rede was something that was taught to me from the beginning, and I'm very glad to see someone posting it here!
You can have a house built in the shape of a pyramid and I understand it's becoming more popular.
I think this was a very imformative post, because there are those idiots out there who think they are witches just by saying they are, and there are those of them that are trying to actually learn, but lack the intelligence to learn from someone who is actually knowledgeable about witchcraft.
I don't think this thread violates the keep silent, because it is not about a spell itself.
Thank you for the information . It was really informative and helped me see some of the things i was doing wrong.
thank u it was very good imfo im very interested in witchcraft
I do have to ask where the number one rule fits in . Do what you will but harm none ?
i have found another website .. maybe its talks about the same thing but here it is..
Witches Pyramid
thank you To bring up the witches pyramid it is real if your learning about wiccan
Thank You again i have been exploring Wicca for quite some time and there is a lot i dont know or dont fully understand but i am learning more and more each day and any help i can get to learn and help me would greatly be apreciated.
alot of people get into wiccan because of the herd collective conventionism that many teens have.they get into wiccan which is a modern society and do spells not really knwing what they call up.the old craft recruited through family mostly and they where trained hard.
This information is very useful for someone like me who is still in the exploring and learning stage.. thank you..
I found your post very informative thanks for the link it was vey goog info
I know about the witches pyramid very well and I understand why you have to remember those things when you are a member or the craft and its because people are afraid of what the don't understand and they judge people that practice magic because of how society has told them that magic is bad and I know that there is good and bad magic but i believe that its the heart and the intent of the caster that makes it good or bad but in turn you have to becareful about what you do when practicing magic so that you don't get hurt and attract the wrong things to you
Thanks
This post is indeed very informative. I feel the keep silent part is truely meant to keep the practicing witch protected from those that may mean them harm.
I am not a witch, but based on this information, it seems spells are like much in the realm of human endeavor.
Confidence in your self and those around you, belief and faith in your plan and your actions are important in business, sports, academia, art and relationships.
Keeping your mouth shut when taking on endeavors is always a good idea. Sometimes confiding in those close to you may help. Example of looking for a new job. I might tell my wife or close friend, but certainly not talk about it at work. If i want to loose weight, I may tell my family, so they may help me watch my food intake. But i wouldn't discuss it with people at work, even though they may eventually notice my weight loss.
Thank you for sharing this information. It is always a pleasure to learn.
