This substance is suppossedly formed by a Physical Manifestation Medium when in a trance-like state. It is said that the components of this substance come from within the Medium's body. Would there not be some components of the persons mind or soul involved also?

it looks white cloth-like (very cloth-like) material oozing from someone's mouth, ears, or nose. Indeed, I have seen some pics on google. Very interesting, I have to read more on this.

I have heard certain things about ectoplasm, one of which being that it is what "ghosts" are essentially made of. If this substance indeed comes from the medium and it is to represent the dearly departed with which they are in communication with, I highly doubt that said substance is in any way contributed to by the medium.

On top of that, I honestly don't believe in it. Seeing is believing, and no amount of manipulated photos on google would sway me into thinking that this actually happens. Is there any real, scientific proof of it?

I did some looking around on google and it does appear like a cloth substance.

The site also says it's a "repulsive substance...that's smells like ozone". Can be solid ar gaseous form.

On a side note all I can think of is the goop from Ghostbusters.

I wasn't aware that ectoplasm was in anyway connected to the medium... I don't understand how the ectoplasm would be connected to the medium. *so confused* I'll come back when there are more posts

Does ozone has any smell, as far as I know it doesn't. And about the scientific proof... is quite impossible to have that kind of proof when the "substance" is not palpable and it appears only when is filmed or impressed on a photo substrate.

i would have to say yes in theory because to be used as a meddan you have to not only be well physicly but metaly but as for spirit i dont know

I think it originated from a ghost with a really bad cold. They snotted the medium and wham...ectoplasm...=)

I have never seen of it, the sticky snot kind. I heard of it and have read about them.
Heres something, I like in Maryland, about an hour from Gettysburg Pa. the coven I belonged to back then, decided we were all taking a trip there. One of the coven brothers; an elder grew up in the area so he knew how we could sneak in after hours. The night we went there it was full moon, the purpose was a lesson on the paranormal activity in the area. It was fascinating and quite fun too! We felt many things saw many things as well as hearing noises. In some areas it would get so cold, freezing but it was June . The other thing was feeling like stuff throw at me and feelings from head to toe, like I walked into a huge spider web, others had the same sensation . We were told that these feelings were forms of ectoplasm. So I'm wondering if there are different types? Is there anyone here how know?

I have never seen or heard of this happening and I know a few mediums. I believe that this is just a myth. I also agree with all teh photo programs out there any picture can be manipulated

From what I have read about ectoplasm, which by the way is not a "new" term in the paranormal, it is a side effect from interacting with the paranormal.

I can't find anything linking it to a soul.

Sometimes they are used not only bound of the "ghosts" subject, but as a possible explanation for the UFO matter.
Some pictures made in the Baciu (Cluj, Romania) are very interesting if you want to study the problem.

Some offer a possible explanation for ectoplasm saying that they are just photographic accidents: a reflection of a beetle or some other shining object that reflects the light towards the camera.

Personally I believe they are manifestations ofa kind of unknown energy.

I'm actually along the same lines as bloodharvest. I had no clue it was connected to a Medium.

I believe that in order to make any type of contact with a passed entity, the mind has to be used as a tool for the entity to communicate with.

Same as NocnaMora and bloodharvest. I thought that ghosts didn't need a Medium for ectoplasm to be made.

I have heard it is uncondensed spirit energy that have as yet to form into an annomaly of some kind.

I agree,because Im really not sure how I feel about it.I think much of it was faked,as much was proven to be chewed paper ,cheesecloth or whatever.But whos to say at this point.

Ectoplasm = Slimer

Here is a theory. If ghosts are supposedly made of ectoplasm, then the ectoplasm from the mediums orifices could be from the ghost the medium is speaking with, not the medium itself. When speaking with the dead, one could be speaking with their soul since they are not speaking with the body itself so based on the above theory, yes, ectoplasm could contain bits and pieces of the deceased.

Last I read Ectoplasm was actaully a very light grey dust often left in the area of high paranormal activity; not a liquid or gas, and what causes it no one has determined yet; but often there is a faint smell of electical "fire" in the area. Anyone else heard anything about this?

I believe that this is all a myth and it really does not exist. The videos can be doctored to make it look real

If ectoplasm existed we would have real samples in labs and museums - not a few very shonky looking black and white photos

I think, as with the majority of paranormal events, the concept originates in truth but has been sensationalized to a point of unbelievability...

well if plasma is yellow brown then i would think ectoplasma would in fact be a form of white to clear color but this is only what i think...

Physical mediumship is not so much in evidence today as it was 60 years ago.

It was used in order to demonstrate to groupls of people by replicating the 'likeness' of one in Spirit thereby making it easier for those not particularly psychic to gain first hand evidence of survival.

It was if you like a ' joint ' effort to create ectoplasm....part medium part guides part sitters.

Many experiments were carried out, and in fairness alot of fakes were ' outed ' which was a good thing, as the genuine mediums carried on.

Remember in the time of the 2nd world war, so many people were in need which is why it is said this form of mediumship was very common.

In recent years the need has not been so great, coupled with the fact that people are just not willing to give so much time to study this practice.

I don't believe that ectoplasm would come from a medium, I thinkthat it is bi-products of a paranornal manifestation.

I have always heard that this ectoplasm as you call it is the veil... the veil we cant see.... the linking that separates our side from the other side... That said... it would be like a spider web.... you walk into it... its going to get on you and stick..... so perhaps that has something to do with it being associated with being on mediums and entity's....
