Have you ever been or someone you know been through an actually exorcism? As a viewer what was it like? If it happened to you, do you recall anything?
i do ….. some people had drawn some satanic marks all over an abandoned church, they even left a goats head from the slaughter hose in there … I found it funny.
Myself and several other suspects were taken to the church and had to watch the vicar performer an exorcism … he spoke in latten and said get out in the name of Jesus and what not.
We giggled as we new some Latin too … maxmiusbigus and so forth, they then made us clean the place up…. Innocent till proven ……..guilty I thought.
Funny enough the place got burned to the ground after that … innocent till proven that’s what I say.
Mind you in the 80’s till mid 90’s lots of churches were destroyed in England as less than a million people actually went to church.
So car parks were made out of the grounds.
wow....yeah, my mom learned Latin at a young age as well...
*side note: I am new at the these types of questions, so sorry if I ever repeat something that has been posted :-)
I wouldn’t worry about that we have been talking about vampires in what nots for some time … it’s more the angle rather than originality sometimes
Lol
I've never been to one but read first hand accounts. It sounded much like livisbre's accounts. I think the folks involved, preists and the like, believed in what they were doing. This particular one took place in Iowa, in the 1960's when I was a kid. My parents were Catholic and paid a great deal of attention to these types of things.
when my father was young, he was asked to help in the exocism of his aunt.
He was asked because of the connection he and his aunt shared...
He doesn't like to talk about it but i could see if i can get any from him, when i see him this weekend.
Frucissiere that would be GREAT if you could find out and if this post is not around or whatever, you can always message it to me...It is interesting to me!
Yeah I was exorcised. Some serous stuff. If they don't restrain you they will kill you. Apparently people don't know the difference of a seizure while attempting to yell for help then being 'possessed'. If they only have one person who speaks Latin in the church he will ramlble while basically being impaled with crosses. Needless to say only one priest was left i the whole church after I when to the hospital. After that the priest raped a nun and the church is now Martin Luther King Jr. Park
Funny enough I have seizures (I have Epilepsy) and I know "back in the day" many thought the two were the same, while others thought that a seizure was a "gift." That's what Cleopatra thought~
i don't know about exorcism, but displacement is possible through meditation, but in the physical sense... I don't know if it works on living forms or not, but you can expand your mind and displace what is in objects sometimes.. seems dangerous to me though,
D
alice my husbands dad has night seizures and i dont concider them to be what your talking about EXORCISED
nonono I was agreeing that they AREN'T like what happens in exorcisms...but people used to think that way.
Alice is right: it was believed that a person having a seizure was possessed, and should be exorcised. Science has since proven seizures are a medical condition, but that was not always known.
Alice is merely seeking knowledge about exorcisms. I wish I had answers for her, but the only person I ever knew who was exorcised never talked about the experience. I don't even know where she is now.
Her mom had her exorcised merely because she was a goth! She was NOT possessed, and was traumatized that her mom thought she needed exorcism, and that her mom's church actually did it... It tore their family apart...
I believe things such as exorcisms should be viewed by just anyone, that includes in person or on television.
I have heard a story or two in my family about someone watching a documentary on exorcisms and them witnessing what they thought was a demon come out of the television. For some reason I keep thinking they said they felt something enter their body but I can't remember for sure.
There are some things in life that should not be witnessed by everyday, average people.
Let me ask, is there something special about a priest doing an excorcism versus a minister?
Ask for the priest vs. minister thing MAYBE each religion is different when it comes to this. I know being Catholic we don't really call them "ministers" ... priest is the common term. But if you are asking if it seems in general why priests perform them more over ministers, I have no idea on that.
Greatfully I have never seen or heard of anyone going through it. I believe it would be the worse thing ever to have to go through.
I havn't seen an actual one, but my mom has. She grew up in Rio De Janeiro and her church used to have people walk in completly bloody and screaming in different languages. My mom once watched a man bite so hard into a church bench, his teeth just crumbled. It is amazing the power people have when they are possessed. My mom also watched a Priest get told off by someone being exorcised. It is true what they say, if your not completly in touch with god or whatever and you attempt to help in an exorcism the person will tell you off. Its kinda crazy. I myself would love to watch one. I've seen possessed people but not an exorcism, in real life that is. I've also seen possessed people get tortured while they were sleeping.. thats kinda scary too. It's happened to me.
I have never seen one either and hope I never do. I wonder what happens to the demon or entity that they expell from the person? Where does it go?
I have actually seen an exorcism and it is the scariest thing I have ever witnessed.
oxidising [sp?] -
Probably into someone else, or just away.
the movie The Exorcist, was based on events that happened here in St. Louis...but they changed alot of the details, like it was a boy, not a girl.
and to answer your question, i've not seen an exorcisim done by a priest, but i knew someone closely that was demonically visited. crazy stuff...like she'd get marks on her back while she slept that there was no way she could do herself- like her hands wouldnt reach that spot. kinda makes your hair stand up the first time, then it becomes like almost commonplace.
Actually, my brother went through something of an exorcism. When he was 12 he started reading the bible and getting into religion a lot(my parents are non-religious). He took the bible and everything in it literally. So when he got to the part about if you do something evil with a part of your body its better to cut it off then live with it or something. So I suppose he did something bad with his left foot and tried to cut it off. My mother caught him before he could do any serious damage and bandaged him up and took him to the church up the street. They decided he was posessed by something. I wasn't able to go but my mama said that priest and other people start praying in a circle around him. As they went on they started speaking in tongues and my brother was like in a trance for 20 minutes and then he passed out. He got up and said he didn't remember anything after my mama had stopped him from cutting his foot off. I guess the church people got whatever it was out of him cause he hasn't tried to cut any of his limbs off yet.
To this day my mama thinks it happened because she watched The Omen when she was pregnant with him.
To comment on the post about why a priest vs a minister.... I would believe that its the Catholic religion that believes more in possesion and exorcism. I mean you never realy hear about any non catholic people being possesed and exorcised. I would assume that the otehr religion basis have different views and different approaches to ridding one of possesion.... Catholics just beat every one else to the patent office i suppose
Something I've not experienced first hand. Far too many inexperienced people try to perform one and causes more harm than good.
Well my grandma which I call her my nanny well she wanted to preform one on me. See I had been going to church with her because I knew that it would make her happy there were certain circumstances that made it impossible for me to be home with my parents. So I moved from KY to AR to live with my Nanny for a while I lived with her for about 8 months. Amongst living with her I had to follow certain rules in order to stay no black clothes, no dark make-up, no black hair, and I had to go to chruch. So I had to strip my hair of all its color and she bought me an all new wardrobe. Well I lived there for about 6 months going to church without a fuss I hated it yes, but I saw it as worth it. Well needless to say I told my nanny that I didn't want to go anymore that I never believed in her god and that I don't feel right being there. She called the pastor and they got a bunch of people there and got in a huge circle around me and prayed for me and they tried to put that oil stuff on me and pray. I know that it is only in Catholic and that isn't what they were, but she still told me "I see the demon inside of you" I told her she was crazy, that this is who I am and have been. She didn't like that, but that is my story of what my nanny tried to do to me.
I have never seen a exorcism, but I almost had to have one performed on me.
not to go into too much detail,I Managed to fight of the possession It took all my willpower but I managed to stop it.
my parents tried to have me exorcised when i told them i was a wiccan they thought that i was possessed by the devil they started to pray in latin and was holding a gold cross and sprinkled me with holy water. i thought it was very funny.
When I was 10 my mother attended a pentecostal church. Halfway thru the service, a woman who regularly attended the church began cursing in a deep voice. The pastor recognized that she was possessed and evacuated those that had not "accepted Jesus" from the church, for fear that the demon would enter one of their bodies.
I was one of those peeps that got sent outside. I had to stick around there for over 3 hours while all sorts of yelling in "tongues" echoed from the church.
That's about all I can tell ya, other than when it was over and she was supposedly exorcised the church smelled like barf.
Probably because she barfed a lot. :P
But are these documented? Or just well It scred the bleep out of me the first time i went to a tongue speaking church
I have never witnessed an exorsism first hand, the closest I have come are the Hollywood versions.
I have heard of the practising of real life exorsism, but I doubt they work and most of those who does it are really sick individuals.
I personally have not seen an exorcism. One of my best friends does them and I have heard stories of the ones she does. It ranges from everything going well to her being taken over but in the end she still wins and is able to rid the house or person of the evil spirit
Ive seen a few on youtube vids...and I am not very convinced by them. Some of them seem kind of "rehearsed."
I have not been and will never have to be exorcised. I'm amune. Long story. Ask if you must. I do however know someone who has been. He almost died.
See im of a rather dark order and we summon all sorts… no one is ever possessed.
We try hard and nothing sticks stays or even speaks much lol
I find the claims of the church lies
I have seen one but I was very little. I just remember chanting in latin.
It is truly rare to get an actual demon--however many people to get "possesed" by an entity
I've seen a few videos that claimed to have some get exorcised in them. However I don't see much proof insofar as someone being able to truly be possessed.
i've never witnessed an excorcism. i would assume true possession by demons or entities is rather rare.
I was actually bein' the one exorcised, stupid b'cause it was my father who called the exorcist an' they 'ad t' hold me down b'cause I was PISSED! The exorcist told my father that that was the demon inside me, lol. An' they put a cross on my forehead an' one on my heart, an' then they slashed holy water on me.
After that they bled me an' someone (I don't know who) b'gan speakin' Latin abou' somethin' wit' the Holy Spirit, then they knocked me out an' that's the last thing I remembered, lol. Shortly after that my father packed his things an' left me an' my mum.
I totally agree with ya Lav...the claims of the church, I feel...are lies.
Like I said, those youtube vids look way too rehearsed for me to believe.
apperently i hav been exorcised just afer my 4th birthday i do not remeber it i dont remeber very much of my childhood other then wut i hav read in my file chids sevices had on me but i grew up in a catholic foster home and my foster mom was nuts as far as im concerned wut i do remeber of her isnt very good anyways from my understanding is i had a very violent temper and hated everyone(wut kid in a strange home wonderin why they r there wouldnt be upset) so my foster mom had a exorisum done on me thats all i know sorry i couldnt tell u more of wut it was like
Someone very close to me had a mental illness and i thought it went beyond that to something like they were possesed.
I wanted to bring the person to a priest to be exorcised
thus i found no one to do it.
I still feel even though this person had been calmer in the last years that they still may be possesed and still show signs if it.
I do not know of anyone pesonally that has had to have an exorsism ritual performed on them. But over time reading articles and such and seeing how many mental illness are percieved as a person being possessed, I do believe that yes some of them are, while others just have some sort of mental illness.
I 'ave been tested for mental illnesses an' they come up negative except OCD (Obsessive-Complusive-Disorder, an' PTSD (Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder)....Blah....
PTSD can be enough to make someone think you are possessed, at times. I wear that t-shirt myself.
I work in Mental Health and we had a case not so long ago where one of our patient's had an exorcism performed on them by their family. (The patient heard voices constantly). They used copious amounts of salt and forced the poor girl to drink this and poured it into her eyes, with the end result being they ultimately ended up drowning her. Luckily her younger sister lived through this experience although she will be blind for the rest of her life from the salt rubbed into her eyes. (as well as the psychological side effects) Scary and sad stuff. :( Seeing some of the patients that come through and then seeing their families I often think we are treating the wrong people in the situation.
We also have a patient who - when extremely unwell - does a fantastic impression of the girl in the Exorcist ....
Really? Hmm, well, I was fortunate, I didn't 'ave salt 'n my eyes.
I too can do an excellent impersonation of the little girl in "The Exorcist." Unfortunately it is in times of extreme constipation.
I think it would be down right freaky to be in the same room as a exorcism is going on.. you wouldnt come out the same that is for sure.
For the ones who have answer that they have witnessed an exorcism- how do you know the subject or space is actually possessed?
I don't think being possessed is possible -- insofar as there's not really any proof that it's been well ... happened.
Also, I've never seen someone get exorcised. I don't really think there would be anything to witness tho'.
I was not actually in the room when the exorcism occured but I was on the other side of the building locked in the bedroom cause I was scared.
morbidcuriousity -
Are you sure an exorcism actually took place then?
I know what they told me they were doing and I did not want to be there. I was afraid. I felt the difference in the building before they brought this girl in and it was even worse after they did this. As far as seeing what they were doing no. But this is what they explained to me that they were doing. Could they have just been saying they did it. I don't know, but what I do know is the things that happened after all this took place were real.
Before they brought her into the building it felt normal , like any other day. The air was not heavy or anything. Afterwards, There was a heaviness to the air and you could feel the tension in everyone there . A negative feeling. I just wanted to leave.
Hmm .. that does actually sound like it would be rather scary.
It was. It didnt take me long to pack my stuff and call my Dad.
It would be quite interesting to have seen it though, no?
I really don't know if I would have wanted to see it or not. Then I was afraid of things like that, now if I had the opportunity to see it I probably would.
No, but I'd love to have one done of my brother, I'd swear he is possessed ;o)
No....I have a book on exorcism....but being I am not a christian....I have little belief in demons possessing me and the word of god releasing me and so on....
I didnt believe in that kind of stuff either but when you actually experience stuff like this. I guess there is truth to seeing is believing
morbidcuriousity -
It's a shame not everyone believes what they see.
well this is my story i know when i was 15 i had a 2year old cosin who was very vilent for a two year old he has tred to kill his mothere in church bty trying to joke her or strangle he was talking in a very demonic voice well all i know is i started to pray for him and i rebuked the demons and told them to go back to hell were they beloged after doing this for about 15min they fleed.
then there was a time were we were at home and you started to try to atack his sister and i grabed him with love and kindness of course and i held him close and i started to pray once again but in a song this time rebuking the demons to leave him and to go back to hell were they belonged.
i had to do this off and on for 3mounths ever sence them he has been fine.i know this might sound crazty to some of you but all this is true it realy happend i gess the perpose of my life is to pray for those who cant pray for them selfs and to be a prayer warior i shall be just that.
To face a demon is an experience that cannot be described in words alone... the sheer malice is so overpowering that it leaves you exhausted for days after the confrontation...
iv never seen it or had it happen to me in real life but iv heard many storey on it and some scared me to death
i dont know if its possible. you see and read about all these type things happening in the past.why not now? why isnt it happening today in our time?
It is done in our day and time. It is just not nationally televised or published. People do not talk of these things. I believe it is some kind of oath taken amongst the people to not discuss this.
morbidcuriousity -
What kind of oath do you think it would be?
I have not personally, viewed an exorcism, however, I kind of want to. I know that sounds crazy, but I am actually obsessed with the exorcism of anneliese michel right now, I want to know more on the subject of exorcism
I did find a video of the supposed exorcism of anneliese michel. I am not sure if it is appropriate to post it here but if you go to google and type in exorcism it will pull it up along with some information.
Here is a video I found on youtube. From 20/20. I found it interesting.
Here's a national geographic video on an exorcism story.
it happened to me....i don't recall to much...it was alomost like i was placed somewhere else.....i could somethings.....alot of screams....voices that were not mine.....it's not something i want to ever happen again....you are helpless in your own body
i watched my friend get excersed by a priest in mexico. it was wierd like i could feel the spirit in the room.
excorism scares me. have never had a real experience, but it scares me. :|
MyBleedingReaction - What about it scares you? The actual process, the fact there could in fact be demons that possess the body or something else?
Also, I've never had an experience dealing with exorcisms nor do I believe them real. The possession of the body -- something over-taking our free will is impossible to imagine for me. Imagining so is like believing in the fact people can be hypnotized which is too far out there.
I have never been through or seen one and quite frankly i dont think i would want to.
