Roman Polanski directed, wrote, and starred in this 60's era cult vampire comedy classic. The story is funny and disarming, and full of great scenes and cinematography. My favorite scene is the dance in the castle, where Alfred and Sarah are dancing with a full hall of other dancers -- then the couple turn to see their reflection in a wall-length mirror and find that everyone else casts no reflection.
Not only are the characters likable and funny, but this movie has echoes in history, as Polanski's wife, Sharon Tate, stars in this film with him, as the love interest, Sarah. The two met while filming this movie and were later married. While her big role in the same year, Valley of the Dolls, made her a star, her fame was short-lived. On August 9, 1969, a pregnant Sharon Tate and four other people were brutally murdered by members of the "Manson family" in the infamous "Helter Skelter" case.
