I've been getting some complaints about Portfolio deletions. Let me go on record: administrators who delete Portfolio's which contain copyrighted material are following Vampire Rave policy. If you create a VR Portfolio, at the very top of the 'Edit Your Portfolio' page, it clearly says no copyrighted work. It also goes on to say:

Portfolio's not meeting the above criteria may be deleted without warning by the administration.

Now I have asked the administrators to ask members to change (delete portions of) their portfolio that are in violation. But don't come whining to me when your Portfolio gets deleted.

The main reason for this rule is not the copyright violation, but that a Vampire Rave Portfolio is meant to showcase a members work (either photographic or in modeling). When you post a picture that is not your's, you are in violation of the spirit of the section.

even if you show where you got the piece, or who it's by...

Any images you want to display that are not your own work can be shown in your profile with an explination of what it is and who it is by and why you like it etc... the portfolio is only meant for your own work, be it photography or modeling.

i agree with the whole portfolio for your own work, but as in mine, i have pictures that reflect my sence of humor, my interests... a great addition to the site along with journels... Rave on!

i guess thats fair to only display your own work...

Problem is, Im not a photographer. And The only photos The prove my existance... are on this website... and my drivers liscense.....

Any pictures that may be in my portfolio have been properly credited... and will anything put in my profile.
I hope they wont be deleted simply because I do now own a Nikon or look like Angelina Jolie....

I own a camera, I just don't much like getting my picture taken, I'd rather take the pictures. I sort of think that so long as the picture is properly credited then we should be able to post them. Of course that would mean different rules, but it could work. Such as putting up the name only (not link) of the site, or the actual photographer's name could work. But alias, that is up to Cancer, and I know we will all sucome to his will as he is Master, of Master :^)

And when you DO Modeling and you ADD them to your profile or portfolio it is COMMON COURTOSY to add the Photographer's NAME give them credit where it's deserved damnit even if its just a first name it IS appreciated and it causes LESS problems in the end!!

Well.... if it helps ya any... I gave credit to everything in my file/portfolio.
I also deleted every picture I had up.

I dont wanna find a picture I think is neet and represents some aspect of my personality... and get slapped by having an op delete it.

My file will stay blank for a while.

I retract that... I hate files with no pictures of the actual person using it.... I'll put up two...

At risk of making my profile EXCRUCIATINGLY long (pardon my spelling)....
However... I am what we call an outdoor girl.
I dont do computers. AT ALL. But I wanna make my profile nifty with all these pictures i find (and credit will be given ...dont worry) that represent at least SOME part of my personality.

Problem is... Im not really too smart about this stuff...Ima need EXTREME laymans terms.....
or just flat out tell me EXACTLY what to type.
Id like it if i could understand how to do all these nifty graphics and whatnot (ie- taymos and moreys files...ect)....
that way i can change it whenever...
But I wanna know how to put PICTURES...in the FILE... not just the spots for photos... y'know?

I believe that was covered in another forum, I don't remember which, but basically how it is explained, is that you have to have your phots "hosted" somewhere, IE. an online web page, you can make a free on through yahoo, msn, hotmail or other, you post your pictures there. then you have to search which forum and find the exact worded coding you need in order to insert your pictures. Then once you get the proper wording, you insert those codes/words into those little tinny tiny boxes on your portfolio and profile pages...someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but that's the jest I got from the other forum....damn get your picture back, it was the first thing I noticed missing...LOL

oh and another thing, I was having the same problem with my pictures at first, do this, in the page you removed the pics, click on the "remove all phots", once that refreshes, then go back up to the top and click the "submit changes" button, when that refreshes, try to reinsert the picture again, but after you upload it, before you do anything else, hit the "submit changes" button, then click on View profile/portfoilo and see if that works. You may end up having to do what I did, and possibly have too log out and back in once or twice, like I did, but I finally got it. My only problem now is that my pictures are numbered starting at like 3 and it won't let me insert 2 more picture to have 10, have to ask Cancer about that one yet...hope it helps...BTW I love your posts, you are too funny

Dont get me wrong, id ont want someone to do it for me. I want to learn how to do it. But thats just to get the point across of how easily frustrated i get with things like this.
I understand camping, how to build a home... martial arts... modern warfare, weapons training and manicures (i know, that last one SO doesnt fit..).

Note: Anything technological is NOT on that list. Except modern warfare. But that doesn't count for what Im getting at.

I deleted all my photos... moved em around.

On my pc... when I look at my profile... whenever i upload a picture to the file or portfolio... again, its shows YOU what i put up... but it shows ME the origional run of the photos. Did that make sense?
Im seeing what was in the file origionally before i deleted any pictures....

I was gonna make this a random forum all on its little own... but i founf it appropriate to this one as well... and I dont want to see it closed before i get an answer that helps...

You have pictures on neither your profile nor portfolio.

Khayman, I think you need to change your cookies setting.

Cookies don't have anything to do with picture uploading or viewing.

I see... well I dont knwo what happened to my old one as it ahd nothing on it! I know I shouldn't have two of them but my old one went wrong... the password wouldn't work and I could never access it, so I suppose it was a blessing in diguise.

This is something that needs to be seen as I counted over 200 portfolioes with copyrighted materials on them.
Please kids if you cant follow the rules just dont post it.

how does that work with tattoos

The question to ask yourself is this copyrighted work and do you have the copyright or are you legally allowed to display if this is not a copywrited material.

Ya know... I always had a question about that....

My art is nude women, and yes some actually show nipples, but it is drawings, so does that count as a photo with nipples? I posted one pic in my portfolio but it wasnt a very clear one, and i would like to post better shots of my drawings if its ok. So really, is it considdered nipples if its just a drawing?

If it is I apologise and I'll remove it.

Pictures of your tats should be ok. But if you were to post pictures of tatoo flash owned and copyrighted by someone else would be wrong.

If in doubt we have admins for a reason.

Odds are from knowing more than a few if you ask you are much better off then if they stumble upon something they don't like.

Just be patient with them we have a LOT of people compared to Admins...

When I've started my portfolio, I've must to deleted some pics, cause I've not understand the "spirit section"; now, I understand very well, and I'm ok whith that. Maybe we'll simply must to do all what our great master want... Maybe to be eternal slaves, I suppose what I am ! :)

I agree that there should be no copyright was really upset when someone put my avatar in their portfolio which is a creation of mine.

as long as you only have pics of yourself or your own artwork in your portfolio you shouldnt have a problem at all.
i think think it should be a portfolio that refelcts yourself and not bands you like or stuff

Yes, as photographers, we appreciate being mentioned when our work is posted.

There have been people on the Internet who have used Nic's pic claiming to be Nic, and people who have used my daughter's pics claiming to be her as well. We are all very covitous about our work and our identities.

If you see a piece of art that you want to share it is only right that you should cite where you got it from.

I was caught in this predicament. I posted all the pics I loved to my portfolio. I was then repremanded!!! :)

I now understand that you can post them to the profile but not the portfolio.

Is there a rule anywhere that says that you can post pics to the profile with information about it.???

In a strong way for been such place I agree for many are doing things which are just not accepted by the administration of the place aside from that these next words may not have to do much with it but to make you think a little is that (rules are ment to be broken).

and memberships are made to be deleted.
The guidelines and rules are there for a reason.
Like the site? Well do you want it shut down because someone is claiming something is his or her own work the artist sees it and sues....
Don't need that crap so just follow the rules aye?

third: it was an opinion which it doent even go with this was totally meant to make people think of something and by the looks of it you never got the point.
four:This place in which prince have work his ass off to make has been more than a simple task and i do believe he tends on keping it for a very long time for such as said before in such place and circumtances people are doing things which it may be a bit or alot harm to such work.

k it's simple and true .. Yes, Rules are ment to be Broken.. and Yes, Member here can be Deleted. Specially for not following the rules. We have a few Portfolio Nazi's and we stick to our words if we give you a certian amount of time to move them (which we think is adiquit) we expect it to be moved in that time ... if for some unknown reason you weren't on for a week Tuff!! We warned you to move it ... we delete it ... then we end up having to explane it!!

Now that we will have more time for portfolio's thanks to these new found positions *claps* there will be a lot more people scurring to move those photos from there portfolio's to there profiles, and there will be many more deletions, so please be ontop of your own portfolio and move said images before we get to it!

I'm ok with the portfolio rules, and when I come in the Vampire Rave and create mine, a cool administrator says me "please, move some pics on your pro, ..." ect... and I have not understand "why" at the start. After some days in the VR, and after many visit in the others pro and folio, I understand well about the VR isn't an anarchic place : that wouldn't be impossible for a good way in this site... I suppose ! :)

ok... well in my profile i have pictures, but pictures dont nessarily have to be used with a camera... thats fine right? i mean theyre even the same file type as photographs. and not to cut open old wounds but when a picture uses somthing that may or may not be copywriten in a picture its not techniqly a copywriten picture anymore its new work. such as my spawn picture. the real spawn is copywriten that particular picture isnt and even if it was i modified it and only used it as part of my picture.

its still all my personal work its just not nessarily work from a camera witch i might ad eventully anyway.

With these new positions in line, Nic is absolutely right, we have more time to take care of the most important things.

Please, all those in charge of helping the New People coming in:

Let them know the rules, make sure they follow them...maybe not hard core, but make sure they do what is correct.


I have been advising some of the newer memebers coming in, they dont read the rules, so I make sure to let them know on a separate note before giving them a warning.


If we all work together, we can beat this battle against those who breach the rules ;)

Well I can understand how that works... I mean it would be kind of confusing( and boring) if every profile/ portfolio had atleast one or more of the same pictures in it...

Just for the record we already know how boring it can be when every profile contains the same pictures...

Just think of the profiles that all have the same quizzes on them and the same picture answers.. ...

Why is it so hard to read the rules. i cannot beleive so many had to have their stuff erased, just in order ti understand.

profiles: You can post anything your heart intends.

Portfolios must be your work or you being the model.

very simple very clear.

no nudity, as stated, some shots are okay if they do not show genital or nipple. hence bondage or whatever you may come up with.

i understand why these rules are here, and i do not understand why people cannot just do it. use your profile for whatever.

Some people just miss it, not purposely...They just dont read because they have other things in mind; they want to fix their profile and make it look good, also their portfolio...

Im not hard especially with new people. But others that have been here long enough and decide to ignore advice and warnings, those are the onbes I have no tolerance for.

Thanks Cancer for clearing that up! Sometimes it can be a little confusing to know what is ok to put on there and what is not.

I think we all have got the message now.. No copyright material in the Portfolio folks :) I do have a feeling, we will see this subject come up again in a few months time :)
