lately i have been trying to figure out a lot of things to have a better outlook on life, i know everything starts in ur head and we pick our parents before we r born but why does everything have to be so hard?is earth actually hell? can someone please tell me what they think?

to be honest, hell seems to be a concept that was made by humans. and as near as i can tell earth couldn't be hell, there IS still good on earth. there's no good in hell

If you're refering to the christian concept of hell, then no, Earth could not be hell. Humans are not present on earth for eternity, and according to most forms of christianity, if you are saved, baptized, repent for your sins before death, etc., then you go to heaven. There are plenty of people on earth that would go to heaven according to the christian bible's views.

From a non-christian viewpoint, such as the theory of reincarnation and moving up or down on some type of spiritual evolutionary ladder with each passing life in the attempt to reach Nirvana and supreme spiritual enlightment, then I think that Earth could not just be a form of hell, but could encompass many levels on such a spritual ladder, many of them quite possibly towards the lower rungs.

As for my beliefs... I would say no. If there is a hell where the truely bad people go, I believe it would be horrendous beyond the comprehension of any human mind.

I have sat many an hour an pondered this subject. My current conclusion, is that the earth plane is a level of hell. It's somewhere in the upper part of the lower third of regions.

However, first you must understand that hell is self-imposed. We souls create hell's of our own making, based upon what we have done in other planes and other earthly incarnations. In an attempt to cleanse ourselves and rejoin with what is pure, we create trials for ourselves.

A lot of things tie in together here... Destiny and karma being but a few.

Step back for moment and honestly evaluate the earth plane. The vast majority of the world is filled with disease, famine, and war. There is suffering everywhere. The few among us who suffer less (we all suffer to a degree) are closer to elevating out of this plane.

And while there may be good in segments of this existence, that does not mean that the existence itself is not one of suffering. Isn't that the definition of hell?

I have also thought long and hard on this particular topic and I don't pretend to know the answer. My opinion is that it is hell or a form of it. I feel a new poll question coming soon on the polls.

hmmm .. considering that i don't believe in heaven or hell etc ...

I believe that things happen for a reason ...not one laid down by a 'higher power' at all but one that finds the natural order of things ... there are terrible things going on in the world ... these things i believe happen because human kind has had too much of an effect on the planet and we have 'knocked' things out of balance ... we are all connected to each other and we feel these things happen individually in different ways .. if we all work together and do the little things that make a big difference ....if enough people do them ..then maybe we can turn this 'hell' into something better.

It all comes down I suppose to us all having a social concience and also making life what we want it to be and being grateful for what we have and giving to and helping teach those who are less fortunate than ourselves...*smiles*

In short ... i do not think this is 'Hell' I think this is just where we are and that we can make it better for everyone if we just try.

I don't think it really matters. The good news is you can always take yourself out of this world if you think it's hell.

i feel if there is a hell that's not this earth i'm in right now i hope i don't go to hell cause i'm miserable as is...

forgive me for my pessimitic attitude but i believe it is, everyone has to have pain before the glory, right? or something like to achieve something you must first experience the exact opposite of it.

I never meant to imply the earth plane was the classical Christian definition of Hell.

But there are levels of hell, and they are self-imposed. Your soul chose to come here when you incarnated in this plane.

no earth is earth---a planet 3rd rock from the sun. Hell was a garbage dump that no longer exhists. If your speaking it terms of a place of punishment. I dont see how that is possible.

Gorey- I agree, and have always been in the frame of mind that the stereotypical 'Hell' that we are conditioned to believe in and ultimately fear, is not the one that this earth could be defined as, as ToiletDuc said (in your fantastically informative post) we would have to consider the idea of immortality on this earth in order for it to be the Christian perception of Hell.

Cancer, I really like your point about 'planes' of existence rather than planets or suchlike, and the degree of suffering of man, and would be highly inclined to agree with you. However, like lkin4touble, I dont pretend to know the answer any more than the next person.

I dont think earth hell. I could set around all day and just think of all the bad things that has happen to me over my like time and say earth is hell. I dont know about other people but I have had alot of good things happen to me as much or more then bad things. We make it as we want it to be. Sometimes we need to just step out side of the box and just think what we really have. I dont live out in the streets in a box. I can get a nice hot meal. If this was hell we would not be able to put a smile on or faces now and then from time from time.

everyone thinks differently. some people think it is and some dont. it really doesnt matter. just believe what u want to believe, or something

I don't believe in a hell or heaven. I believe in life and death, but if there is a heaven and hell, hell has got to be life. Heaven must be death...at least i hope so

i also believe we create our own hell. Hell is what we make it to be. Our worst fears pain, suffering...i can tell u im in a level of hell, i've been there for a while :(

I must agree Cancer has summed it up nicely. Earth is very similar to the definition of hell and all of the levels. Someone who lives in a well developed country, like America, could be considered to be in the upper regions of 'hell' where's someone who lives in Africa, could be considered to be living on the lower levels. And it also has alot to do with how you make you life, after all it is how you make it, most of the time anyhow.
And many religious people will tell you...

it matters how you see the earth if it is heaven or hell to you.

i say no, i have visited hell before and it is a very different place than here, i think it is funny when people say it is fire and brimstone, i saw none of that in my very short time there. based on that i do have to partialy agree with Cancer, because from what i can tell earth does contain man of the elements of hell but none of them are truly combined. hence the different levels and what not.

of course my arguement relies on the fact that you actually believe me when i say i have been there

Okay I have been wanting to respond to this for awhile but havent been able to because of the way I wanted to word things to let me try... ( and mind you this is my own opinion)

I dont believe that earth is hell. Each person is put here for different reasons. I believe that each person that walks here now has a reason. Has a life theme or life lesson as some call them.

Each person can also thinkin differently as to what thier hell may be .. for example. A rich and well powerful person that can buy anything and everything in the world has the love of thier life family and has everything they could possibly want... that to them is not hell. But on the flipside you can have a person that lives on the streets, has no where to go, has no one but themself and that could be thier hell.

Somedays I am in my own personal hell. Its down right miserable. Other days nothing can make me mad. You make you hell what you make it or what you dont make it...

If its hell to you then so be it.. If its not for another then thats fine to. We make our own choices as to what it is.

For some earth is undoubtedly hell they say we make our own which I beleive is true but sometimes we do this through our own inaction.

To me hell and heaven are only existant to people who beleive it does, i personally beleive there is neither, altho some like yourself may beleive that earth is hell.. well i guess in some ways from my perspective this is as close as any 1 will get to a real hell.. think about it there is crime here there is war there is constant death people contantly dieing everday also plenty of continous suffering accross the world ... so for me earth is hell.

HHHmmmm........................In all honesty I have wondered this before but why would hope and love be in hell??
I mean depending on your interpretation of hell of course but to me my hell love hope bravery and sacrifice would hold no place and have no merit but we do have the said things so SOMETIMES I do believe hell on earth other times am not so sure and most of the time I think you just got to suck it up and plod on and make it less hellish if you can :-)

There's no such thing as hell, there is such a thing as earth, so it obviously is not hell. I believe you come here to expierience, where as you have good and bad expieriences, and make what you can of them. You decide whether to learn and grow from these expieriences, to love or to hate, to live happily or not.

Personally everyone seems to have thier own definition of hell. Some people even live in thier own private version of hell in their own minds. My own belief is that earth is more of a purgatory. Not heaven not hell but a place in between, because you see earth is filled with acts of great good and evil. That is just my opinion.

really to me hell is a place were everyone lives and is very beautiful. people all earth hell becuz it is wat they have heard over years wenever the world got bad. thats wat they thought was hell. i think earth is hell only wen some exciting happens. but thats only my thought on it. i dont even know if this makes any sense.

     My last post was atheistic I know. But I still believe that hell is here on earth or the two worlds are entwined together. Why? They say that were waiting for the 2nd coming of Christ right? What was that term again its starts with P-. Well, I'll look it up later.

     When Christ Ascended into heaven He opened the gates of that paradise. Now it is closed again and we await for Him to come and lead us to salvation.

Earth is a playground for satan. Some parts of the world can be called hell. But some can't. (heey no one's perfect) But a real hell is different. On this earth there are parts or visions of hell but never real hell. At least that's how I see it...

i think alot of people are confusing unbelievable extremes with hell. people hell is not something that can be measured, it is something that we will always underestimate because it can not be understood or properly described.
even this describtion doesn't give it justice.

so my definition of hell which is actually a lot like christian views is that it is not defined, it is and can not be made by us because it already is, and was before our time.

the problem i have with the Bible is that so many things are myth, or true, or only half-true, or only metaphoricaly true, or not true, or a legend.

I would agree with DeathIsBecoming- How do we know what parts (if any) of the bible are true? We make are own assumptions of what ti could eman, but couldn't those who worte it have done that of another earlier book, subject to change?

wow i think that is quite good philosophy, earth could be hell very easisly, the wars, the hunger, the hate, the death , could the death be an escape from the hell? likewhen we have served our time in hell?? maybe thats why the good die young etc etc. wow

on second thought this cant be hell, since hell is endless tourment, sometimes things come good and sometimes things come out bad but we get along and some of us have had enough of their "hell" and so the call to suicide, but what some dont reliaze is that their lives are ok, not hell...

This qeustion can not be answered, everyone has there own belifes, so it's completly pointless to try and find an answer that makes since to eveyone.... hells is what you belive it is weather is Earth or if it's in another demition or if it's a state of mind there is no way of really knowing till you go there and if you go there when you come back you don't rember it anyway so there is really no reason to risk gettting a headache over it

Im with sunshine on that. I don't believe in a hell, an eternal punishing place because it really is how WE make it. This world has a place for it's good and evils if you perceive them as such, and that is the balance of the world. I mean i can think of a worse "hell" than earth by far. It's easy to see the negatives of the world than the positives. Not everything on our planet is suffering. The reason why it's suffering is because man hasn't got their , excuse me, shit together. If people would stop being greedy, and controlling then we might see an improvement. Heaven by my theory meant " Space", the final frontier. lol

well, I believe that heaven and hell can be found on earth. Quoting from the teaching of Christ "the kindom of heaven is within you" I take that quote to say we can find peace and heaven within ourself. That is heaven not in the sense that we think as a plane where everything is pure but as in a place whithin where we are happy with ourself and have a good level of content and we are able to cope easier with the trials that we face living on this earth.
