would you rather be told a lie and feel happy or be told the truth and feel bad?

I think I would want the truth, no matter what the consequences.

It would all depend upon what I was about to be told. Also it would depend on who the lies was being told to. Example: you dont want to tell a 6 yr old kid that his/her parents have just died in a terrible accident. So you tell them somthing a little easier for them to undertand. It is hard I know but if you tell them the truth it may tramatize them for life in one way or another. People lie to each other in one way or another everyday. And if someone tells you otherwise they are ful of it. Because we live in a world that is built off of lies and distrust. This is not a perfect world.

If I ask someone ....'does my bum look big in this???..I want them to say ..'NO!!! of course not darling you look fabulous'....but what I need them to say is ..'yes darling you look like a beached whale ..change that damned awful outfit ..you look a mess.'....I want to be lied to ..but i need to hear the truth however much it may hurt me ...'cos when it comes out that yes i do look a mess and was allowed to parade myself around looking as such...then I would feel far worse and be embarrassed as hell for sure....

I believe everything happens for a reason and if we are not told the truth at all times certain things in our lives will happen that wasn't meant to be. I believe that's the reason for alot of unhappiness in the world. I also hate ppl who lie, I would rather face the truth than be told a lie.

I would rather be told the truth no matter what the effect it may have. I can usually tell when a person is lieing to me... so many people are bad liars. Give themselves away far too easily. This disappoints me since they lied and they suck at it.

I would want the truth. A lies causes the trust factor to be compromised. I am truthful so I would expect the same respect.

Aye the truth but what if the truth is really a lie and a lie is really a truth, what if the person telling you the truth really doesnt know its acually a lie, thus we never really have a truth and lie its what you believe and how deeply you believe it. the same with trust, you cant fully trust someone theres always a doubt inside you. ^^

I don't assume that the truth is always bad. just knowing the truth would make me happier than being lied to. And it does make me happier. I can understand if people want to keep happy in their ignorance I just wish they'd shut the hell up and stop making our choices for us...I also wish they weren't the majority of society...

All our behavior from the very youngest age rewards us for telling lies. Most times we don't want the truth, and are happy either with ignorance or even the lie.

It really depends for me. At times, I'd rather be told a lie because maybe I was feeling down. At times, I'd rather be told the truth because I'd rather live honestly than living in a lie.

I'd rather be told the truth and hurt by it then told a lie and hurt more when i found out it was a lie. White lies are ok, they dont normally tear people apart or hurt, its big lies. Like when your boyfriends cheating, we'd all rather know then?

lol lies are lies no matter what form. I don't teach my kids about god and santa clause and the tooth fairy because if i did, they will find out that mommy told me a lie that so and so existed when really, all you did was lie to your own kids. If you are going to teach about something, i'd rather make sure i knew the full history about it and it's true roots before i went further in it. I'm not going to say oh yes hun this existed without seeing the evidence to support it because in time, each piece of history found is a change teachings.
