Okies maybe I'm a geek but I love Star Wars and I cannot wait for the movie tomorrow.
Cept I'll have to wait til saturday to watch it cause of a show I'm going to that night. Oh the timing.
Hmm I will see it.
Who likes Star Wars?? When did you first see anything about Star Wars??
I wanna be an EWOK!!! me only no one else! im an ewok thats taht!
I saw the original in the theater in '77. :-) Been hooked ever since.
I saw the first star wars when i was 5 my aunt sat me down and made me watch it. hard to do with a kis like me but afterwards i was hooked ever since
I can't remember the first time
Was very young.
But i really wanna see this new one
Looks fantasic!
Tomorrow?
I didn't think it was released anywhere until the 19th (next Thursday).
I just finished watching the new DVD set. I don't know why people are bitching. All the changes Lucas made were minor and did not change the story line at all. I liked the little tweaks.
i love star wars and i so cant wait to see the new one its gonna rock hehe!!!!!
The only thing that bugged me about the remastered originals is Han not shooting first in the cantina. In the remake, Greedo shoots first. and the CGI is done poorly. Especially for ILM.
I had heard that Star Wars, Ep III was, believe it or not, being released in the UK prior to the release in the States, next week. I've been looking around and it seems that at concurrent release of May 19th is set for both.
Some have already seen the movie. Kevin Smith (Clerks, Mall Rats, Dogma) has seen it and, allegedly givin it a rave review.
Yeah, I know about the press screenings... But I didn't think Glowering was media ;)
Every review I have heard or read is that this episode is the best of this trilogy, and it is better than any Star Wars movie save Empire. It is suppose to end very, very well.
However, I am skeptical. It's hard to know what is propaganda and what is not. There is more corruption in the movie review biz than there is in the Mexican government.
To be fair, I liked Attack of the Clones... A lot. I just didn't like it as a Star Wars movie. If that makes sense...
I still say to myself, WTF?!?!? Every time I think about Phantom Menace.
i agree, i liked EMPIRE and ATTACK OF THE CLONES as well. they both were definately great movies. and i have heard the same thing as you, cancer. so people rave about the newest movie and some put it down and say dont waste your money.so to each his own i geuss.
Ok, Cancer, grab your barf bag when I say this: midichlorians. heheh
I liked Menace. I really liked Clones. When Menace came out and everyone was trashing it, I just sat back and thought...."Hmmm...what's George up to?" I had an idea but kept my mouth shut. After Clones, I was pretty sure I was onto something. My opinion: Lucas always knew that Ep III was going to be the movie to make. Unfortunately, he had to get there. I had a hunch 6 years ago, that Ep III would be the "One Ring" of this saga. One film to rule them all. One film to bind them. heheh
All indication point to this movie being The Shit. I've avoided all spoilers. I just don't wanna know. I won't even watch the commercials if I can help it. I've heard that this movie isn't one for the kiddies like Phantom Menace was. Think about it: just about everyone has to die, right? That's my George. Good George.
http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/release/trailer/10.html
If you go here there is a music video kind of thing that chronicles much of the fall from Annakin to Vader. It is kick butt anf only serves to make the wait more difficult, so go for it all you pain mongers!!!
I saw Star Wars at a drive in near 8.10.1978. It was a birthday present.
I can't remember when I first saw Star Was but, I remember seeing Return of the Jedi first on TV...
I can't wait for the movie to come out!!!
I just love Hayden, he's SO sexy!!!
Or DEILIG as we norwegians say;o)
i wouldnt mind seeing it however i have not fully seen the first 3, i have seen episode one and 2 but yea i will see it maybe tomorrow
I personally liked Phantom Menance, but that's because I took it in context.. after all this is the movie that's setting everything up and makeing sure it's all in motion.. clones..well.. there's some major issues that could have been done 'alot' better (I hear they fixed up the lil tumble in the hey bit *shudders*) ...but for the most part a good movie..espically once you got past the first hour ;p ..
I'm very much looking forward to the 3rd..which should be out here sometime in the next few days.. as stated, this is the one where most everyone is going to die ;)
oh..I'd heard a rumer (this is before phantom came out) that samual l. jackson has incribed on the bottom of his saber BMF (if you're trying to guess what that's about, think Pulp Fiction)..anyone able conferm that?
Here is a preview that you must see...it's one that is "different". *smile*....

In the Star Wars spirit:
TOP 10 things we want to hear from Samuel L. Jackson In Episode II
10. You don't need to see my goddamn identification, 'cause these ain't the
motherfuckin' droids you're looking for.
9. Womp rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'll never know, 'cause
even if it did I wouldn't eat the filthy motherfucker.
8. This is your father's lightsaber. When you absolutely, positively, have to kill
every motherfuckin' stormtrooper in the room...accept no substitutes.
7. If Obi-wan ain't home then I don't know what the fuck we're gonna do.
I ain't got no other connections on Tattooine.
6. Feel the Force, motherfucker.
5. What ain't no planet I've ever heard of! Do they speak Bocce on What?
4. You sendin' the Fett? Shit, Hutt, that's all you had to say!
3. Yeah Chewie Rocky Horror's got a hair problem. What the brother
gonna do? He's a wookie.
2. Does Jabba the Hutt look like a bitch?
1. Hand me my lightsaber... it's the one that says, 'Bad Mother Fucker.'
I adore Star Wars, as seen on my page. I saw the first ones in the theater, and several times each! Back then, the screens were 70mm. The BIG ones! I remember, being so embaressed, because my dad would read the beginning explanation paragraphs...oi! Ha...I teared up seeing the new ones. And then cried again when I saw how crappy they were. Ha...No, there is much to be liked, and some ick in between. It is Star Wars though, and I still like them. I am a BIG fan of the older ones, having Luke, Leia and Han. They had heart and soul. Anyway, it will be sad to see it end. Oh and yea, the 19th. Have tickets already. Read and heard it kicks ass....a "Titanic in space".
PS: I own the DVD box set, the VHS tapes, and I've seen them in home and back on screen hundreds of times. I Have the figures, collecters cards, a whole set of cards from Return of the Jedi, old magazine articles, had all the posters, books, picture books, books on tape...HA.....the Leia DOLL-lost it. Man, you name it! I even bought a piece of the original film, from the can, that was pressed into thick glass, and a picture of Leia in the part where she meets Wicket. It's way cool.
OK, now I am finished. *smile* We now return to our regularly scheduled program.
First saw Star Wars back in '77 with my HS sweetheart. It was the first time I saw a line that went all around the block. My date asked what the big fuss was about. I just look and said you don't know????
in my area "sith" comes out the 19TH, i already have my ticket but have to go the 21 there that sold out! i have always loved the star wars movies, i would like to say that i would be a Jedi...but i would fall to the dark side pritty fast
i watched the moves epersode 4,5and 6 when i was about 8 and i loved them ever since. i cant wait till epersode 3 comes out eather
seen the first in 1977 been hook ever since....ewoks are cool.....
Aww man,. love everyone's post. I have two stuffed Ewoks. I've been watching star wars since little. anytime something comes on I watch it.
I must own like ten games, playing them and watching star wars at the same time is the best....
I love Star Wars (i jus want an Imperial speeder bike :) And I can't wait to see it I only have 2 minor grumbles though
1) Jar Jar Binks, never wanted to anhilate a whole species before till then.
2) The scientific reference to the link with the force i.e midid chlorians, I mean I personally think the thing held more water when people jus straight believed that it was just a wonderous magical thing to be tied to such an elemental force but instead we got got little celluar dudes who link us to it jus some got more than others...................right anyway thats it but overall excellent story and i'm also looking forward to the space battle's because Return of the Jedi (to me) set THE precedent for space battle's that has yet to be topped
I pre fer seeing all the star wars episodes in anime cause it makes more scence to meas to what is happening.
i watched it when i was really young, cant remember exactly when it was, but ever since i watched it, i to have been hooked. i cant wait for the third to come out, it looks awsome. and from some of the rumors i have heard, they are trying to find out a rating they can give it that is higher than a pg-13 but not a rating r. it is said to be alot darker, more violant and it should answer alot of questions that us fans have always been wondering.
I can't remember when I saw Star Wars first, but it's been a long time. I love Star Wars, so entertaining. The only saga that makes the last 3 movies then the first. That was a great idea. It keeps me wondering...
I both look forward to and shy away from this movie...
i look forward to it because it's star wars for crying out loud. and since i work in a cinema (for the time being) i should be getting a free screening of it on release :D
i shy away from it because it's going to be HORRIBLY packed and HORRIBLY messy to clean :(
Saw the original Star Wars back when it came out in '77. Been a Star Wars fan since, a buddy of mine is in the 501st. Which is the stormtroopers, and I used to be the Emperor of the Midwest Garrison(no longer do that). Another friend of mine is a rebel pilot, have a pic of the two of them in my portfolio when they came dressed to one of my Halloween parties. Can't wait to see the new one looks totally awesome.
do i like starwars? isn't that obvious?
mmmmh... hard question...
lemme think....
let's say... yes? am i correct?
it all started when i was 12,
it was december 22nd 1991 , episode 4: a new hope was on tv that day....
it changed my live...
my man loves star wars and i somewhat like it never really followed it.
I've a friend who sells collectables online. It's crazy he has so many of the originals
Seen the last three on VHS. Seen the "1st" 2 at the theater. Pretty good chance I'll see Revenge of the Sith in theater.
OMG, Jamie! You just compared the most infuential epic saga in film history to Titanic! SHAME on you! SHAME!
Star Wars/ Titanic trivia: Leonardo DiCraprio was considered for the part of Anikan (???) for the second movie. Sad, but true.
LOL I didn't even catch that Titanic part of what Jaimie wrote. LOL
I did hear that Leonardo was suggested for that role, thank goodness that they didn't pick him and had Hayden Christiansen.
I cannot wait. I keep getting excited everytime I see a trailer. Or hear the music.
I think I'm obessed with the music and the sounds. I love the way the lightsaber's sound or when the pods are racing. Most awesome, ooohh and ohhh
Twisted by the dark side young Skywalker had become.....
Darth Vader
Giggling, and shaking can't wait can't wait......
i'm hopin i can mannage to get out of school early so that i can see it before the other people get out of school and get to there as fast as they can. i liked the origonal 3 and the second one but the first one hardly makes any sence to me
not hooked but its good so im gonna watch the new film
Remember when Mark Hamill got into a car accident in early 1977. It did extensive damage to Hamill's face, and the actor underwent reconstructive surgery prior to filming The Empire Strikes Back.
He almost wasn't going to do the films any more because of that accident. I forgot what changed his mind.
They had to put that scene with the snow monster in the beginning to make it look like he was scarred in the movie. Even though you could barely tell it happened.
i cant wait until episode 3 is released over here in the uk, star wars has been a fantastic journey for both the people involved in the films( lucas e.t.c.) and the fans- its going to be spectacular :)
Like several others in here, I sat and watched the originals( episodes 4,5,&6) back when I was a little kid. and I was hooked on it ever since. I actuaaly used to have the action figures and a few ships but I don't know what happened to them.
queenoftheoccult: Ep III should open on the 19th of this month in the UK. :-)
Click on the "Watch the Video" link once at the webpage.
I remembered what that snow monster name was, or I mean the species. Talz. LOL. Not that any one else cares, it was just bugging me all day yesterday.
lol. its ok glowering, some one probably does care they just dont want to admit it.
omg! i love star wars. i grew up around the movies. i can not wait till the 3rd ep. comes out. im going to go see it opening weekend. *smiles*
I will be leaving shortly to go see a screening. I could of seen it yesterday but I had other prior engagments.
your not a geek, i can't wait to see what happens to padme, i knowshe will die but i don't want her too
I cannot wait for Darth Vader. It's going to be so good to see it. Hear all the sounds and music.
I also want to see what happens to her and the rest of them. Want to see how they are going to open it and how it's going to end.
I still have an origional Weequey skiff guard figurein laying around somewhere here, and a starwars cap (empire strikes back I think) froma bout 1979 with a smisprint, part of r3s foot is missing.. hehe both were given to my by my cousin about 18 years ago
Cancer
I think the reason Clones is PG instead of PG-13 is because no blood is shown.. AVP got pg-13 for the same sort of reason, though in that movie blood was shown, it was green instead of red... course, phantom showed maul getting cut in half yet still no blood (and all convieniantly and logically explained in that lightsabors and blasters quarterize the wound)
Mmh yes I agree about the blood being shown for it to be rate PG, or PG 13. Convient indeed.
Who is Anakin Skywalker's father???
We know of his mother, yet Father??????
anakin had no known father... or so the mother said... apparently it was a medi-clorian birth
mmh yes, I know that he had no known father.
I know she suggested that there wasn't one, or that she couldn't tell anyone anymore about that.
So....
was it man?
or was it the force that made her become pregnant??
Mhh I know what is said
I was just seeing if any one else had any other info...
that would be kind of weird if THE FORCE got her pregnant, thats some jerry springer shit there, man.lol
I Like this Movie set, but i think that its over rated...
I was never a big Star Wars fan, just couldn't really get into it. But, whatever floats your boat....
I've been a Star wars freak forever...I remember being a little kid and SO wanting to be Darth Vader,...LOL
I look forward to the sith so much
Fineally I get to find out why "Anni" turned into Darth and how Luke& lea Never knew they were brother & sister & all tha fun shit.
Plus.....I get to see some bad ass light sabore fights again...Y'know I wish one really could get those things....
I could tell you why, yet I'm not going to spoil it. LOL It was a good movie. Press Screening was fantastic, many journalist.
Noone says the M word! (spit)
Please, please, please, no spoilers! Let's not ruin the movie for those who haven't seen it, even after it opens. If the Admins and the Boss don't mind, I'll start another thread for spoilers and discussion can go on there. :-)
My personal belief is that Palpatine is going to wind up being "Ani's" father. That would be something Lucas would do and it would be true to the trend of the story. I do not think that this will be revealed in the movie though.
I do think that Lucas realized how silly the "M" word was. Notice that AOTC doesn't really mention them.
theni guess i m a geek too.. i love satr wars and can't wait untill it comes ... lol... out..
Bummer that this thread lost momentum so quickly.
The power of this thread is insignificant when compared to the power of the Bump.
I also like Starwars,
I hope that I manage to go to cinema on thursday - because I have no time this weekend ;)
And if Episode 3 will just be half as good as I hope.....
i heard that the movie is supposed to be so bad ass its not even funny
So far all reports are that it kicks ass. I'll know tonight. :-)
i was very young when i first saw the first star wars, seen them all, love them all, and will def. love this one!!! its going to kick ass!!!
The beast in the ice cave in empire Strikes back was called a wampa ice beast.
Also there seems to be a running contradiction i finally give in and accept that storm troopers are indeed clones BUT I've read a few official SW books from a (suprise suprise) completely average human in the position of a stormtrooper the mind boggles lol but either i look forward to seein SW ep 3 btw in the first 3 original maovies you get a vague idea why Anakin turned to the dark side if you watch it carefully.....................and many times like I have sadly done lol (But seriously Leia in return of the Jedi hhoooo yyyaaa :)
Well if liking Star Wars makes you a geek... then I must be one! *LOL* Because I've always loved all of the Star Wars movies. I know, I can't wait until the 3rd episode comes out. I don't know if I'll be able to see it in theaters or not because I'm poor. But I know I'll buy it as soon as it comes out on DVD!! I love Star Wars and always will!
Chaos: The Repuplic Troopers are clones. Noone ever said the Stormtroopers are clones. My understanding is that the Stormtroopers have a seperate training facility and are handpicked from the academy. Remember, there are approximately 20 years between Episode 3 and Episode 4.
Yeah but Jason you gotta remember the republic gets turned into the Empire because palpatine was the supreme chancellor.
Also it would make sense for the Stormtroopers to be clones inswerving loyalty and less chance of a military coup on Palpatine
Damn I love starwars... I grew up watchin it... and I own all the movies so far... on VHS, and DVD
Its still Over rated
Episode 1 was Over rated.... way over rated
Researching this clone thing. Found this on the official Star Wars site. :-) Still looking.
ollowing the collapse of the Empire at Endor, stormtroopers were an increasingly rare sight in the galaxy. It was not until Grand Admiral Thrawn procured a working set of Spaarti cloning cylinders that the Imperial ranks of stormtroopers began to be replenished.
So we know that POST Return of the Jedi Stormtroopers are clones.
Ok, I think this'll but the Storm/Clone trooper debate to rest. Found it at www.filmforce.ign.com.
"One bit of conjecture Lucas finally laid to rest was the question of how close the link between clone troopers and stormtroopers was. He told MTV in an interview that the Empire's stormtroopers in the original series were in fact more of the same clones that form the Republican army in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith – though by the time of A New Hope, stormtrooper ranks had swelled to include regular recruits as well."
So, we're both right, Chaos!
has anyone here played any of the star wars games. preferably star wars republic commando or star wars battlefront?
Jason,
The Thrawn/Cloning storyline is from the book, Dark Force Rising, if memory serves.
In the end Luke faces a clone of himself and Mara Jade ends up killing the cloned Luke. Luke and Mara also face a cloned dark Jedi.
It's been over 10 years since I read that book, but I am pretty positive that it's stated that the cloning facility was from the Clone War era. No where, in any Star Wars book, have I ever read that any Storm troopers were clones (At least not any SW book written pre-Episode 2).
I think in that MTV interview Lucas was once again backwards-engineering his story line.
Oh, Lucas is ALL about filling in the holes of his story after the fact. heheh
I read up a lot more about the cloning thing today. The death of Jango all but wiped out the original clone line. And that sort of makes sense. Cloning a clone = bad for some reason. There is a lot of writing and press, again from Lucas interviews, where he states that yes the Stormtroopers are clones, but not of Jango. There are several different clone doners, which explains height and voice differences. Honestly, I don't think Lucas knows, or cares. He's rather keep everyone guessing.
I think i'm going to wait like a week or so maybe the crowds will die down just alittle. my whole family is going to see it we all love star wars and we have been waiting for this movie.
Cloning a clone is bad because it's a copy of a copy, and it degrades the quality over time. Remember that Michael Keaton clone movie? (Forget the name)
Again, if memory serves, either in Dark Force Rising (or in one of the other 2 of the Thrawn trilogy) it was a big deal that Thrawn sped up the cloning process. The new Republic faced a threat as Thrawn was rebuilding Imperial troops.
Funny, how in Episode 2 (probably 50-odd years before Thrawn), the Kamino's were cloning at advanced rates (something that wasn't suppose to be possible).
To be fair, many of the Star Wars books don't gel well together.
I had a great site that chronicled every single Star Wars event and inconsistency... But I can't find it at the moment.
Just got back from seeing it. It was a fitting conclusion to the saga. It's visually awesome! I have some issues with it, but I'll take that to the spoiler thread.
Jason I would just like to THANK YOU for starting a spoiler thread .. and for letting it be known ... I am one who can't stand to start reading a thread about a movie I've yet to see and am planning on it and everyone posts in it what it's all about .. opinnion's about good or bad, no problem .. but to give it away in threads with out a person having fair warning really irk's me .. I hope in the futre others will see the example you've laid here and do the same ... >;^}
Maybe, Jason. How bout after you watch Episode 3, watching the Lego Star Wars video... :-)
Star wars, I love this movie.
I was reading everyone's post and responses. Yet I can't seem to see if anyone did spoil anything.
There hasn't been anything said about the movie here. I mean anyone who has watched it.
All I see if talking about episodes 4,5,6. and the first two.
Only thing I can see is that someone mention something about Luke and Leia's mother. Yet we all know that from the later episodes.
mmh Spoiler thread is good too.
the spoiler thread is nice to have around. thanks jason.
I still say Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher's best parts were in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
i finished work today... yes... star wars was PACKED!!! AND we have to do so many checks on it...
i've seen most of it. and it looked ok, but obviously i've only seen bits.
but you fans... are messy MESSY things! stop dropping popcorn everywhere!!! put it in your mouths!!!
I saw the film twice today. I'm not real happy with it.
You have to see any film at least twice to form an honest opinion about it. Things are always missed on the first viewing.
Has anyone heard anything about the possible episodes VII, XIII and IX?
Lucas swears those episodes will not be made. I pray he keeps his word.
lol, same here he should just drop this holw thing and mae some other movie not pertaining to star wars. its been around for far to long. although i still enjoy watching the older movies.
Well am jus glad I got the clone thing cleared up thanks Jason and Cancer :-) I look forward to seein the new flick soon :)
i went to see star wars wednesday night- ( it ended 3am thursday morning) and i thourght it was really good- and in my opinion better then phantom menace and attack of the clones.
p.s there are talks on a tv- spin off series- can any of you shed some light on this?
There's a lot of talk about various things coinciding with the 30 year anniversary in 2007. So far, it's all talk.
i didnt even know it was there 30th in 07!!! wow im so uninformed.lol
I've seen Lucas state in interviews that all that is planned for now is to continue with the Clone Wars animated series and one other animated series of undisclosed content.
Yes, I've heard in his interviews about the animated series to preceed this movie. I also heard this was the last movie he was going to make about Star Wars. It sucks, he should keep on making more...especially after this one!!
