My ideal god is not one who demanded slavery, but one who gave instead of recieving like "god" does. But plz post anything against mine.
I think god gives a hell lot more than we actually give him... are you blind? or are your parents death?, and do you actually go to church at least once a month????
This is not going to last very long.NO forums may be about religion.
hmm i think iknow wat he is trying to say, which is wat is "your god like" my God has given me riddles to figure out and life, and my god knows how air head i can be at times so he flat out shows me with a smack in the face of reality... too much more to mention.
My god is so loving that he helps me even im not worth of it and he dont get nearly nothing from me....
I know it because there were so many situations in my life i felt it!
Maybe I am misreading this thread?? but I understood ReaperofSouls was discussing Gods' and not the Holy God. Maybe I misunderstood, but to choose
My favourite God would just have to be the, "The Morrigan" She is a deity and far from fading away, The MORRIGAN is still exceedingly popular and has many followers and is a dark green goddess in the Emerald Isle of Ireland. Nowadays she is more into utilising the Earth's energy.
To be precise, MORRIGAN: is The Megalithic Mother Goddess and 'The Phantom Queen' and an original member of the TUATHA-DE-DANANN (People of the Goddess DANU) who chose Ireland as their Headquarters. It was very unwise to mess with her, or her sisters.
She was also a shift changer she could turn from being a beauty into a hag, from a battle-crow (ordinary soldier) to a washer woman all in triple time. This has caused a great deal of confusion to careless mythologists and innocent Godcheckers as some sources claim there is three of her.
yup this one will be gone in about an hour or so i think
why is this thread open shame in it all, wheres the fourm nazi
hmm interesting we are quick to kill a thread on chrisitianity but not wicca. Seems unfair but i don't think he means a christian god, when there was so many false ones created on Earth.
i think wing has a point... it as about peoples ideal god... not any particular god.
personally... i don't think we need one. but it'd be nice to have someone there in case something bad really happened. but i think we can take care of ourselves quite well
yes its a good point but it will get ripped for cancer says no more, i myself like most threads what i don't care for is the way some just think we don't know how to think or when they get on the soap box. they say they are tired well it gets old reading that crap as well..i don't know what happen to free speach ...but its the rules of the site
Before this gets rip'ed I'd like to say that my God is with me always, and I hope when I cross over I'm welcomed with open arms. I've been trying to be good lately... honest. I hope he reads this..lmfao!!
These threads are what you make of them, people. Even though this thread started off with a blanket insult at "a god", it can become a fine discussion about the divine in general. I applaud Emmy for steering it in the right direction.
That is what keeps a thread alive. The FAQ rules say that one reason for a thread being Ripped is for discussion of "Christianity". THE REASON was because of the rampant Christian-bashing that happened at the time. You don't see a rule about "religion" in general, or even any other specific religion, like Wicca.
It is a sad day when a rule forbidding a topic of conversation has to be made. But technically folks, it just one guideline us Master Vamps have for deciding what to do about ignorant posts. We have the power to Rip any thread but try to refrain from doing so.
I believe in second chances. If this thread gets ripped, it'll be because it degenerates back into "My god can smite your god" crap. Not because somebody discussed religion.
Grow up.
thank you Elder for clarifying the rule........
I was getting tired of pointing out the reasons that christian topics got the axe, and being a master hopefully ppl are more likely to actually py attention when you say it....
my ideal of god.....simply is
an entity or power higher than myself.....
I thank it for creation...try to live well, follow my intuitions as I feel they are one of god/s gifts to us....and try not to worry about the details of any popular religion
I have my beleifs....I only really tell them to those who seek out the info....and respect those who respond in kind...
regardless of their religious ideals

An Ideal god is one that is not judgemental. That will except you know matter what religion you are. Even if your an athiest or a satanist he would still accept you. But that is for the ideal god. But that isif there were a god to be ideal, Not just some fairy tale.
Thank-you ElderDan. I think the study of all ancient Gods is wonderful and it fascinates me how the cultures then believed in them.
Now, Thor was a God..I'd say him and The Morrigan could do a real strong line together! Thor's very name sounds so powerful!
It depends purely on what God is to you, and how you interpret whats aorund you... maybe its a mechanism, with htings watching over us for some type of greater good, or maybe we just exist for ourselves and those around us.
Apart from what society dictates, who really knows whats our purpose in the grand scheme of things? To further the human race may not be the only reason as, why would we need furthering if we dont have a purpose?
To me, the ideal God is the oppertunities that are offered all around us, and the oppertunity to learn about myself and the world thorugh the stresses of life, and the decisions that I have to take, not some sort of actual being.
My "ideal god"--now that seems strange since the very nature of a god is to be ideal, pure as Plato and Aristotle often speak of God or the Ultimate Good of being.
In that regard, God would have to be a gender-neutral deity in order to comprise all of creation. God, for lack of a better name, would also then be Heaven. Plato's and Aristotle's rendition of a deity is my ideal god for the deity never punishes, always teaches, and will always be by your side for, technically speaking, God is all-encompassing.
'God' i think is a spirit that allows you to be free and choose on which path to give you...but generally Im an athiest...but I respect all religions...
I like this forum because these are the kinds of threads that help people learn of the way others believe....
i think got us right but we are who we are because of a god with not enough patence-a more watchful eye and we would be more than god himself-or maybe he knew this
there is no ideal god only a god you believe is ideal.
My "God" (I prefer Gods), do not have a name or a visual representation. They have a presence, a feeling, or a secure feeling.
For the longest time I didnt believe in anything. I had always watched others in awe of a faith in something that could not be proven. Then through expriences that happen to everyone with faith, I found mine.
I know They are there. They love me (not because I am special or because I believe in Them, but because I am apart of thier creation. As a Mother and Father would love all Their children)
I know it all sounds simplistic, but I gotta start somewhere. :)
My ideal god....I HAVE no god...Stipulation of Aetheism
It's simple.. When you talk about religion, you'll never know who will be offended..
well to me an ideal god would be a god of compasion. one who regulates this world and makes it closer to the idea of heaven. someone i can talk to without any rituals or methods.
leah.. threads about religion are not within the guidelines of what can be posted on the forum, however this thread is not about religion. The subject is, "Gods".. please follow the thread through in its context.
i dont see why we dont leave this guys thread alone he is just curious.....my god is......well lets just say he is different.
An Ideal God is one who loves sinners for that is all that is left in the world !!
An Ideal God? hmmm. I think I would perfer to have more than one since I would like the Gods to listen. plus I would like to keep them company so they wouldn't be lonely...
LOL, Morrigan good idea :) Did you see my favourite one ? ;)
I just wanted to say something about this before it gets RIPped off. .........Well, I guess I just said something.
what are we talking about? If he isn't ideal he is not god!
Emaerald, thank you for some of that history! I still have so much to learn and I enjoy learning about other gods and goddesses and other cultures!
My ideal god whould have to be a higher power who helps with one's inner voice and truely loves everyone...
I think my ideal or favourite god would be very similar to Old Man Coyote, trickster and teacher. There are more stories about him than stars in the sky.
For example, did you hear the one about the Spying Moon?
"It seems that someone had pinched the moon, and Coyote offered to stand in as replacement.
"Everyone agreed that he made a fine moon, but from his elevated position Coyote could see everything that was going on. Being of an irritating disposition, he couldn't resist blowing the whistle on friends and enemies alike. "Hey, look what Badger is doing behind his tepee!"
"Pretty soon everyone was sick of his snooping and voted him out of the sky. But nothing can keep Coyote down for long. Being a boastful old show-off, he loves to impress the girls by juggling his eyeballs.
"One day he threw one so high it got stuck in the sky and became the star Arcturus. So even now he's keeping an eye on us all."
An additional note on why I adore Coyote:
In Native American mythology, Coyote was a trickster. Sometimes he was helpful, at other times he was mean and evil.
Coyote was a very selfish being, almost everything he did was for himself or for his own entertainment.
Whenever a deal was made, there was always something in it for him, yet, his pranks and tricks almost always backfired on him.
This is one of the lessons we humans learn from the stories of Coyote - selfishness
gets us nowhere, and pranks we play on people almost always come back to haunt or hurt us.
It could be said that Coyote is one of the best bad examples we have. Sometimes we can learn a lot from those who practice Coyote medicine - we learn what not to do in life!
Plus, I like a deity who knows how to laugh and teaches this gift to others (whether we laugh at someone else, a crazy situation, or, most certainly, ourselves). The world is humourous. Even when it's at its ugliest, there is humour.
I love god.. I don't need anything else but him taking charge of the universe..
well it all depends on your belifs at what's your ideal god.
He didn't mention the christian or a pagan god but just your ideal god.
Respect all religion and belifs if you want others that respect you.
If you belive in the christian god well good for you, that doesn't mean the other religions are wrong or and vice-versa.
Anyways my ideal god would be us.We are gods of ourselves, that's what my belifs are.
I have to say my ideal god is one that wont sit back and allow his followers die. TO let them kill each other one that would intervene. Also not someone that is not so judgemental.
I dont have one ideal god, I fallow many, and I am protected by their subtle yet gracious might.
i believe that if there is one god, than all humanity serves a different version of it. but for me, i have no one to follw except Hecate, goddess of the moon.
my definition of god (it's ideal ofcourse) is that is an energy created by mental, neural, and aural activity that emanates from all beings in the universe. A mind created from all the microminids of the universe. Do you like my god? ;)
I don't like to believe in a god... I don't believe in one. Sorry if I offended anyone. Didn't mean to. That's just what I believe, you believe what you want. ^_^
then, you don't believe in yourself, because you are part of that god, and your goal is not to reach some kind of perfect state... I believe in god because i tend to be one!
BTW. question to all that not believe in god (any form of god): In what you believe?
Yoiu have to let people speak their minds thats the point of this site everyones idea of "God " is differant Personally my God is one of love and compassion ,but he gives so much more then we give him
'
I am glad to see this thread brought back from the abyss.
I truly enjoy finding out how others view their ideal deity, if they do conceive one.
Silly Daermon teehee.. Vampires don't have reflections! ;)
my ideal god is someone who is just like the one we have know..but he doesn't let war happeen
man he gives us more then we give him..but that is vrey interesting thing why do you say that????.....
hahaha people on here are soo funny they have such an oppion...well i think this is way cool people acually have sum thing to say other then well letting people walk all over them..it is quite funny................everyone in my school is like "shut up and listen maybe if i shut up no one will notice me".......but i hate people like that they drive me crazy!!!!
i think that if it works for you than it is real for you.
i am a childe of kali and that should tell you what i feel about gods, but i know that isn't the way for everyone.
well every one has there own oppion on "god" so it is hard to say sumthing with out offending sum one eles this world is a fucked up place we live in...lol..you always have to be carefl with wat you say....it is wierd..lol
i dont have an ideal god because i am atheist. but for all those who do, good for u.
How I love an open minded discussion. Nothing is better to bring about new ideas and make people really think. Everyone has their own idea about what a god should or shouldn't be. A god (or lack thereof) is a personal choice, there is no right or wrong god to believe in. That's like saying there's a right or wrong way to put the toilet paper on the roll. Each person has their opinion on whether it should come from the top or the bottom, but in the end, it's still toilet paper. No matter what you choose to believe in, if it's right for you, then that's all that matters.
You also believe in god, that is god of non-beileving! ;)
