Im not sure whether this has been done before...but...

I just wanted to know the overall opinion of what people believe about the true power of the mortal mind...

I believe mortality has got a very large amouth of power that it cannot use...according to some poeple we only use around 20% of our whole brain...

Do you think we are capable of what would be considered 'abnormal' powers...such as moving objects without touching them and real mind control???? If it were possible to use all 100% of our brain....

Sometimes I find myself thinking about how much I may use my brain and what would happen if one could even use 50% of it. I think if we were truely able to have 'abnormal' powers as you say, the world would look at us as if we had a tumor. However, there are the exceptional few that never tell anyone of what they can do...especially if it's mind control.

Though many don't believe in that, I do...I believe that there's a percentage of every human's mind that they simply don't know how to use...or that most don't know how to use. I think I might have...something...I don't know. Sometimes I can make things appear. lol. As stupid as it sounds, it's true...mostly small things like pens or change or paper...and it usually happens when I'm not expecting it and I can't really force it to happen...but, hey. It can be helpful when you're a few cents short for a soda. lol. Of course, I've never actually witnessed it, but things have appeared in my pockets, etc., that I had checked only seconds before.

I think there's a reason human cannot use certain parts of their brain.

I dont really think its a matter of using a certain percentage really.
It's the sections of the brain that aren't used that are cause for worry.

My only thought when I get to actually lookin' at this is the movie X-Men.

umm...if we were capable of powers as you previously stated, i don't think it has anything to do w. what %age of our brains are being used. If that was the case and we could use all 100% of our brains, think of all the physco's who would have those powers!

I think that mind control and the such are possible I think that with some training anyone can learn how to do it, this site www.psipog.net has alot of useful information.

I do agree with Khay on this one...I dont think it is to do with percentage...and I do think there is a reason we dont use the whole of our brain...mind control doen't just have tobe used in the 'evil' sense that most people think...its could be used in the way of helping people who cannot control their anger...because many lack that restraint...

i believe it is possible. when i was doing daily mental training i got to the point when i could make an object shake with just my mind. sadly i haven't been able to reproduce this past this one time

I believe as mortal we have acomplished a lot already we just get bored easily as soon as we accomplished what we have i mean like computers and the net in the 90s it was fascinating but now its eh. yeah so i got a t1 connection to and hand coding who don't know html now aday. as for abnormal powers i'd like to believe we are capable of it. for example the monks abilities to project thier chi to either protect or harm. and so on. it may have something to do more with belief and us not limiting ourself. because i believe the lock we have for reaching what we want is imposed by us after trying once and fail we tend to stop.

i think that that with evolution we might be able to access more of what our mind holds

I belive that also...once failure has happend we do tend to stop in fear of it happening again...but that is what destroys the world because we never really have atempted all things...

On the other hand I dont think we are ever ment to accomplish everything that is possible...such as revalations on the whole human mind...it can be studied but never unlocked of its mystery....

i wish i could move with the things without touching them or to read somebodys mind...but maybe i would be very disappointed then...

We do NOT use our brain 100% when doing things...

That is my point entirely...When we do things king 'tarquin is right we dont use 100% of our brain...and havanna I agree if we could read peoples minds then we sometimes we would be dissapointed...

i've got friends that can read the mind...but I in some ways believe that its that they are more spiritually intact than I am...not sure though...

But I definately believe all people have special gifts..it just depends on how and if they are used...

actually, not to be the wiseguy or anything, we use approx 11.5% of our brain. (although much of my time i feel like im using 0%) telekenesis, telepathy, astral projection (separation of mind from body), aura viewing, and the like are perfectly achievable. with much practice it is easy to do. the reason we cant do all that is because we dont practice it to accomplish it. that means we only use that 11% of our brains. if we were to practice and do all that we will be using something like 20-50% of our brains.

i practice maybe an hour a day or so. coming along VERY slowly. ive succeeded in astral projection only once. kinda got paper and pencils shaking around a lil. cant see color to auras yet. and havent succeeded in telepathy yet.

Research and speculation is now leading to the idea that we do indeed use our full brains. The so called unused parts may be where we get our intuition from. The unconscious parts of the brains may be in continuous contact with our higher spirit selves.

I've had that thought cross my mind quite a lot before. I've always reveled in the idea. I think it would be pretty awsome if we could unlock secrets and powers from within our minds. It would be amazing... I do believe it's possible as well. Of course, I'm always hoping for something more exciting to happen...

Only time will tell of humanities real true powers...and I do believe that one day the powers may destroy all human kind if they are not used properly...

But these powers have the potential to do good and evil...just depends on how mortality likes to treat eachother....

Monks used to drill holes in the back of their heads... this was used to 'cure' headaches by 'letting teh Devil out' but was also believe to increase brain capacity... alhtough the monk usually died before aby such evidence was brought together.

I think its a matter of training the brain, and not letting ti turn into obedient slush.

how do we not know that the way we bring up our children stops the child from using all their brain.

I do agree....nurturing may be what holds back the mortal mind in a power sound...

But in what way does everyone think we may be held back in a way of how we are brought up.....

as far as I have read the 10% thing is cognizant thought.... and about 10-15% for fine motor skills.....muscle control...heart,breathing...that sort of thing.......they have trouble charting brain useage in dream states and subcontious...
but i'm sure it would be signifigantly higher.....and I feel that we are not at a point where we are ready on a mass scale for such abilities in most people....
most would abuse the abilities....and I think nature/evolution/god/ call it what you will has p8ut an internal lockout system in place for this reason until we have evolved to a higher point....

The brain is not used as much as it should be. If we used more of our brains, then yes, anything could be possible.

easy...cat scans....brain scans....mri's.....
we can tell exactly what sections of the brain are active for different things....

Yes they were...but in some circumstances it was not for what we would consider special abilities...

Some people were accused of being witches because they had a black cat...and I dont consider that a 'special' ability lol

It was believe to been said if one uses the full capability of the brain that the body would malfunction. To much going on that the body would forget to do things. So at times we are limited to what we can do and use just like life itself !!

i dont think it is possible to use 100% of our brains because the human mind has developed into only using whats needs to be used. because the world has so many human made things and so many thngs to make life easier the whole brain doesnt even need to be used. which i find very sad, because i think the brain has so much potential, and more then half the world will never even think about the fact that they can do more then what society wants them to do.

There is many different ways to tell of immortality but my belief is that there are immortals in the world, vampires or not. You could be immortal in many ways:
Take a starfish and chop it straight in half, what would it do? Regrow, so some people could be like that or maybe have an immune system so high in Zinc that they heal in days from a gun shot and hours with a scratch.

Just imagine the human possibility if you used just 25%

Yes mind control is a big issue that many wish to possess...and I believe we do its just effort and control both have to play a part in achieveing such an ability...

What about physical ability...such as moving objects without touching them..being able to control any element so could not harm you such as lightning...

I thought it was only 10% of the brain but any ways I believe if a person could use 100% of there brain they are most likely liable to have any amount of Powerful mind ablilities from mind reading to moving objects with there minds, but I don't think just any one can achieve this they would have to have a strong mental abillity aswell complete control of the way they would use their brain.
