Here is the meaning of poltergiest....
Poltergeist: Meaning Noisy Ghost, this entity lives up to it's name. Some claim this is not related to the paranormal but is caused by a living person, usually a teenaged girl who is under a great deal of stress. We believe poltergeist are non-human entities that are vicious, malevolent and are indeed paranormal. They are capable of scratching, biting and slapping, as reported in the Bell Witch case. They are also capable of starting fires, throwing things, making items (usually coins or rocks), appear in thin air, just before hurling them across the room at their intended victim.
There are big differences between Hauntings from spirits and hauntings from Poltergiests...
Here are a few:
Haunting: Involves the ghosts of deceased human beings appearing frequently in certain places and times.
Poltergeist: May not be ghosts at all. There are theories are that poltergeists are mass forms of PK energy that a living person is unknowingly controlling. In some cases extreme poltergeists activity has been linked to demons.
Haunting: The appearances of spirits in areas known to the deceased before death.
Poltergeist: Can be triggered by a living person's trauma in any location, at any time.
Haunting: Activities are continuous over time, concentrated in the same general area.
Poltergeist: Activities build up over time to a climax and then start over. Poltergeist energies can travel anywhere with anyone.
Haunting: Are not violent by nature.
Poltergeist: Nearing the climax of the energy cycle poltergeists can become dangerous, inflicting both mental and physical terror in extreme cases.
Some people say that poltergiest activity can be linked to demons. Is it real or not? who really knows. I guess you have to actually encounter one to believe......
