Thanx Your Freak
I had a witches deck, but I lost it when I moved, so now all I have is a set of wood burnt runes my uncle gave me (complete with furry holding bag!)
I am really interested in purchasing some but im not sure what kind of cards to get.
To Eretica:
You should look and read about the ( the cards and the deck's) there is lots of info in the net. the you will pick some of the decks you like the moust by the history and mackers. then you should go to the store and look at the again mayber hold them, then you will feel somekind of emotions for one of them. and this one will be yours for all your life. Tarot are friends, company, everything you need.
I have and use the Celtic Dragons deck, however I prefer the Robin Wood deck
what exactly is the purpose of tarot cards? what do they show you?

i have never done tarot readings/ used tarot cards....but i would like to try sometime
I use the good ol' standard; Rider-Waite. I also have a Wtiches Tarot deck, and I use that exclusively for self-readings.
Oh yes I do read them.
I started off with:
Tarot of the Cat people
by Karen Kuykrndall
(until one of my older cats named Jelously Jellybean got at them and clawed thru the lovers card but didnt break the card just left a gash.)
So now I use the Universal Divination Pack
by Kay Stropforth
( I love these cards, thery literally jumped off the shelf when i pat them and when i picked them up....WOW they wanted me..kewl, so i bought them.....they are an amazing pack.)
I am still waiting for my Scared Circle deck to come in to relpace my cat ppl cuz they are useless not to me, but i keep them around .
>:D
I have a Hanson-Roberts deck I got for Christmas when I was 12, been reading them ever since :)
havent used them before, though i would love to get started
some how over the years i have became somewhat of a collecter lol but not intended. i just love Tarot art.
well of course one of my favorites is Crowley-Thoth tarot deck, but i frequently use GD Ritual Tarot by the Ciceros -i like that one alot too. of course most GD and Crowley tarot decks have there differences.
it's so nice of you. i feel like home now. nice people and lovely Tarot. thank you ALL.
Your Freak
I can't remember which it was, but I saw a set once with gilt edges and amazing artwork. The cards were bigger than my hand, so I couldn't imagine trying to deal with them though.
i use a dragon or a fairy deck they both work with me well.
I read, I use the Faeries Oracle by Froud and some other women. I love the fae deck.
I also use the mythic tarot deck but I own another but I cant remember what it is or where it is for that matter....
Love all my decks but my favorite would be the Robin Wood Deck.
Thanks Khayman for the link. Here's another one. US Games have been around a long time. Enjoy!!
http://www.usgamesinc.com/newstore/home.php
My favorite deck is Londa's.
real dark one. I started with the raider's deck but it's too simple.
I also realy like using 'tarot of the ages'.
when i was younger i used to love tarot, i still enjoy it alot. but i dont know what my favortie deck is.
i used to have a tarot deck but Ive since then lost it
I like Tarot, and I know how to do it because my sister taught me with her Mystik deck she had. But I don't own one, and I would like to, but I don't know of any cheap places to get them. I have visions about doing Tarot readings a lot, but then again, they are usually strange decks in my visions to begin with.
Thank You all for all you sad. :)))) now i know i'm not alone!
Your Friend Freak :)
Was a time when I used and liked very much tarot now I use it,not often only when i m troubled ;)
I can do tarot cards, and I scared my teacher when I did it because I pin-pointed everything and she almost flipped on me. But I can use any Tarot cards as far as I am conserned to read.
It sounds to me as if the cards are more preference then helping any sort of ability.
I have never tried them myself.
Ideally your first deck should be given, not purchased.
I have the Tarot of the Wiches and another set, which i can never remeber the name of.
I find that the right deck for you will just appear.
yeah first deck should be given, that s the way it was with me,given
I was wondering because I am saving up for a deck, which one would be best for me to get?
I know each of you have your favorites, but which should I start out with? My sister as the deck she was going to give me with her, and is giving it to a friend of hers, so I was just wondering, which do I invest my money in and buy?
I haven't posted in a long time but, I seen a few people say that your first deck should be given. I totally disagree with that. I would only let two people ever get a deck for me but, I would have to be there to pick it out and feel the deck in my hand. Different people believe differently on this. I just don't understand how someone can use a deck given to them without any kind of feeling for them.
I myself have around 15 decks. I use my Gothic tarot deck by Vargo, Vampire deck, winged spirit deck, and the lovers deck the most.
I read a lot. I really enjoy reading for certain people. Some people I just refuse to read for. Personal reasons I guess you could say.
Alright, so...no getting one handed to me. Gotcha on that one, but which deck should I start out with?
mine favorite are the celtic animal oracle and the ancient oracle tarot i also have the golden dawn magical tarot i do readings for myself and friends
my deck got stolen, so im uding my fairy cards at the moment
i have two decks of tarot cards, one is a goddess deck and the other is running press but i dont use it often, i love my goddess cards.
i like "the witches tarot" but then im biest i was close friends with the lady who created it
i like tarot cards but i myself have not yet used them unfortunetly
I BELIEVE IN THAT STUFF BUT I DON'T HAVE A FAVORITE DECK
I love getting a Tarot Card reading but im not that good at it......i pefer reading bones....i study and practice necromancy...bu i am hella good on a ouji board *evil grin*
i have the vampyre tarot.
people freak out when i bring them out and start reading them.
lots of fun.
i have the death card of the mystic frost deck on my back as a tattoo
MMm, I would love a tarot reading done.. could anyone do it for me?
...have about 10 decks, but love rider-waite, and just got the gothic deck - it really speaks to me! :)
deffinitly like crowleys' thoth deck. works pretty well...if you actually believe in "fate"....or allow yourself to...for a period of "time".
anyways
thoth has my vote
-in chaos
I have a set of Rider-Waite Tarot cards but i havn't used them in over 4 years as my last reading left me a mess for quite some time...
I personally have the winged spirit deck and a set of runes. Haven't done readings in several years.
Although I recommend the Animal Spirit Deck as well (has been out of print for over 5)
i have witchs tarot, and rider waites... faerie oracal cards and angel cards are fun too... buh i dont know enough about tham to really do a reading, i get people to do it for me...
my mates have got tarot cards but personally i haven't but if i had i'd use them all the time
I have read Tarot cards for many years. I have used many different ones too, including a deck I made, myself. For the last few years, I've been reading professionally, online, mainly....some in person. I was going to give mini Tarot reads here, on my page, and had it open two weeks ago, but the chat box was screwy. Sorry to those that showed up. I will find another chat box to open.
I have never heard of someone getting your first deck for you. You are supposed to pick your deck out, yourself, according to whatever "calls" or simply appeals to you. =) I have heard, though, that they are supposed to be wrapped up in silk. Who knows about that one. I don't. I have about 30 or so, decks (collect them), including a Necromonic Tarot that is a limited edition and signed and numbered, AND, the hard to find Salvador Dali deck. I want to get the Carl Jung psychological one. Anyone have that one?
I have done other reads on here, as well.
Tarot cards I believe, should be picked out yourself. Altough, someone else may buy them for you. ;)
Magick or ritual tools are always best when given or recieved as gifts.
I have tried a few decks, but I keep coming back to the Rider-Waite Tarot deck. For some reason, I relate to the pictures quicker than I do any other deck. The symbolism of that deck melds well with what I have already in my mind.
Sad thing is--I can't really find them anymore. Luckily the deck I have is still in good, working order, but that won't help me much when it comes time to buy a new deck.
wow how many of you are here :) i'm so happy that you are into tarot. that you believe and trust them.your life and your self. i agree with Jamie. ( love you baby) :)
i do tarots for aboput 3-4 years so i think i could say that i'm going into them myself. it's a big part of my world.
And if you would like to ask and tell me something(just have a nice talk near the cup of tea) i would be wery happy :))))
Thanx Your Freak :)
I like tarot. The crowley deck is beautiful, but I like the gothic designed one much more. Go to,
http://monolithgraphics.com
They have some of the designs. They're beautiful.
I use the Gilded Tarot. I like it a lot, though my reading are being rather vauge, even though it is based off of the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck.
I also plan to start collecting gothic/vampire decks.
I have two favorites the vampire deck and the witches deck i'll have to get a few pics if people haven't seen them before
I don't have a deck yet. I've been reading about it though. Trying to learn a bit before I actually go off to get a deck of my own.
The best way to learn is first hand. That's how I learned. I had a book in one hand and one of the cards in the other as I learned. I recommend you getting the book The Everything Tarot Book by M.J. Abadie--copyright 1999 by Adams Media Corporation. It may seem a little corny from the outside cover, but it was extremely helpful when I was just a beginner.
I want the manson deck that would be great , i would also like to learn how to use them.
...i have an "Mage: the Ascension" deck. has anyone heard of it? it's way old - back in the V:tM days when it was young and new.
...i like the looks of the guilded deck - i bet it's fun! also, have a dios de la muerte deck - the majors are really cool, but the minors are pretty plain. anyone have any experience with it yet?
I have the Waite-Rider deck but I'd like to acquire some more decks. Borders bookstore has like 30 decks, including the Vampire Tarot deck. The Waite-Rider deck is very philosophical but if you read in the right state of mind, you can discern events in a more practical/real life way.

I want to get the oricle(sp) deck, has does anyone have experience with it.
yes i do tarot and my faverite deck is the Queens Farie deck check it out you might like it
...so true about the philosophy and deeper meaning of the Rier-Waite deck - that is why it my favourite. it really talks to me. i have learne that the easiest thing to do is to study the overall meanings of the cards by choosing 1-3 cards for myself each day. when first starting out, choose a card to set the tone for your day. look up the meaning of the card an make note of it in a notebook. then go about your day and keep the card in your mind throughout your journeys and encounters. at the end of the day, take out the notebook again and journal your impressions of how your day related to the card. after awhile you will be able to tap into the meanings thru your intuition - ergo the cards will begin to "speak" to you. give it a try! :)
I use the ancient Tarot de Marseille. I've been using it for a long time. My father told me once "When you think you know everything about Tarot, it's time to go and study it all over from the start" What a wise man he was.
Tarot and runes, these are may favorite forms of divination.
My favorite deck (I have several) is the Robin Wood deck, after that my Dragon deck.
Pandora.. the one problem I have with Oracle cards is that they are not as point blank as tarot cards. My tarot cards are straight to the point. An Oracle deck can be vague and not point blank about things.
Its all on how you read or how you get used to them.
My personal prefence is Tarot.. I barely use my oracle decks.
I have 2 working Decks, the Dragon deck and the Goddess Deck. I have always followed the unwritten rule of Getting your deck as a gift. The one time I bought My own deck, I had horrid readings. The minute I gave the Deck as a Gift, everything went right again.
i've never read the cards before, but i did have my cards read once during P.E. in high school. (i was cornered in the basketball courts by "the witch" in my grade and she wouldn't take no for an answer!) it was fun @ the time. after that, i never really had an urge to persue it.
Thanks countess i might not want to get them then but the dragon deck seems interesting.
