I just tried to leave my usual comment on someones profile rating sectikon, and it said that since I used my comment before I can't use it again.......

Then it said to leave a unique comment....

When and WHY was this idea added?

just lately started...it is to try to stop people from rating just to move up ranks...
lol i think it has to do with the dummy account that Daire started and so many left comments with out reading and knowing that it wasn't a real account....

i dont think its a good idea but guess we will just have to get used to it i suppose, i dont think many will like the idea though.

Awww come on guys - it's easy enough to at least skim a profile and pick out a few details that catch your eye or offer some minor input... It's not that big a deal.

I totally agree with it...I'm sick of seeing Welcome Notes to people who have been here for like six months or more...

I mean...Guys get a grip and try to be somewhat original

you know heres my opinion on it .at first i was like hey what the hells going on here ,thats not cool. but now that i kinda thought about it its not to bad an idea.lets face it ppl how would you feel going to many pages and seeing the same exact comment on someone elses page? you wont feel special or really acknowledged ..you want your work on your profiles to be notice theres no harm in reading profiles and rating.. its crap ppl do post same comments to ppls pages .i mean how personable is it when you copy and paste same stuff to multiple pages ..

remember variety is the spice of life .try to enjoy life .and savor each moment for what its worth :) its not that bad an idea give it time and be patient ;)

I know most just skim through pros or not read at all but it annoyed me when some 'specter' or even 'whelp' welcomed me to the rave!

I like the idea. I hate seeing to exact same comment left to me I have seen someone else leave to 20 other ppl.

Well, however it came to be, I'm glad it's here now. I didn't really feel acknowledged, even without looking at other people's profile ratings. I felt like people weren't really reading my profile when I scrolled down the comments and found like 900 "Greetings" in a row. A lot of people do comment on specifics in my profile, thus informing me that they at least skimmed it, but the "cookie cutter" ratings, as I like to call them, really don't make me feel good. Like I stated somewhere else: seeing nothing but "Welcome" and "Greetings" on my comment list, one after another, is, in my mind, the equivalent of someone telling me my poem or short story is good, when you know all along that they haven't been listening to one word!

Creativity, people! Embrace it!

P.S. And yes, I know I'm also guilty of occasionally leaving a simple "Greetings" on some people's profiles, so don't bother pointing that out.

The comments a person leaves, or the lack of any, doesn't make the rating any less or more valuable. But forcing us to be "unique", only makes it harder to leave any comments at all.

The comments are useful because they let someone know we were there. Without comments, only the Premmies will know who rated them..... and be able to rate back. The Non-members will never know who gave them a 10 or a 1.

The comments are a personal stamp of the person leaving them... and limiting what we can say, whatever the reason, is limiting us.

Lordvampirio, that’s not a problem for us who rated everything...So there :P

As to the cross on forehead....
There's a saying that when someone is guilty or lying, a cross on their forehead appears in order to reveal the truth!

As a kid I was frequently told about it!

You have already given 10 people who said "Just ask me" a 10 please leave something unique for every lame profile.

I'm not trying to put anyone on the spot here, but since you brought it up, Ms LeFaye, I checked out the profile of one reddragon666, and was very disappointed. There was just no way I could give him a high rating without feeling like a liar. If his profile improves, I'll re-rate him. But while I was scrolling through his comments (he had like 150), I counted plenty of people who had given the "cookie cutter" comments I had on my profile. And some of them are pretty long too. I can't see myself writing some of the blurbs they have over and over again. So I'm curious: is there like an auto-rate thing where people can post the same thing over and over like a rubber stamp? Also, if there is this auto-rate rubber stamp thingie, can it be set to automatically rate every new profile registered with VR? Because more people than should have stated in their comments that they were giving him a 10 (I counted like 7 or 8 people before I stopped counting). That, and the "cookie cutters" on the dummy profiles.

Well, the comment I left him was "Is that it?" If he improves his profile, what I have to say will improve as well.

It has been done lately,coincidentaly I've heard(read) yesterday,cause a lot of people were abusing with rating comment...

well i think it sucks...i hate typing and most of the time there is nothing on the new profiles to comment on so a welcome is nice and as for welcoming someone who has been on here for a long time i always thought it was better late then never :o)

i try to leave everyone i rate something personal..no 2 ppl are the same so why should my comment

My ratings are on the same system and my comments show the same thing.
Hi hello I came, I read, I rated, will read and rate again if you take the time to tell me you have added or changed something.

I play with the music on my page constantly but dont go shouting out every little change to the world.

Figure with my signature also being a quick way to message me if someone wants to let me know they will if not they wont....

Since I use the same system for all I leave the same thing for all. Fare and Balanced ...

Why is not even going to discourage the mass rating for status or just out of boredom.

Just will mean less peoples' faces are shown when they rate.

Or aleternately will mean even more wasted time and space as people start rambling on for things that do not deserve the one much less the time it takes to read "Just Me" "666" or "Ask"......

Comments do not affect Status so there is nothing to whine about here. If you want someone to know you rated their profile and think it's too much bother to write an original comment, send them a message. You can copy and paste your former comment via message.

Be warned though, do that to me and it will guarantee a return rating of 1.
