Do you feel that vampyres should welcome a connection with those of like-existence, and encourage a sense of brotherhood/sisterhood amongst one another? Do you think that this is essential to furthering the goals of our community and understanding the differences that serve to divide us, or are we just better suited for a life away from others where our own salt carries us through?
I expect that this answer will be dependant, to a greater to degree, upon individual perception and obviously will vary. So please..don't be shy about speaking up. I am eager to understand the users of the site at large.

Yes, I believe we should welcome one another, and take interest in other's views and insight...But as with any group of diverus Minds, not all are compatible...Even in active discussion, we can all still get along...
I have a house for a reason to bring us together as one
Yes I agree vampires have walked by themselves far to long...Let the blood be united
It would help a lot but it shouldn't be used to be against non vampires for example, cause that would be used in a bad way.
It would be nice to have the family connections and to encourage the interaction. To be able to interact with others that share your interests and ideals with.
i belive that since we are what u "evolved" from, that u should have an understanding to our weaknesses and not look down on us for them, as some do
I think I should add at this point that the portion of my question involving "a life away from others" does not imply being separate from anyone but other vampyres. It is merely meant to if you feel that we work better as a group or as indepedents.
- D
I feel that as a whole we should definitly look to each other for support and kinsmanship. I also believe that of course we all have our own individual lives and should not exclude people because they are not of the same mind frame or lifestyle but that we should definitly embrace the fact that others are out there to share a common bond and way of thinking with.
I believe we should work as a family. It is far easier to cultivate our skills if we have others to provide feedback. Of course, this does not mean we have any right to work against any other humans. Simply that we should be together.
I am going to have to agree with working and moving foward as a family, allowing each to be independant and to contribute their own special unique gifts. There is great power in numbers, I found that and so have others...that what keeps many groups from moving "foward" from evolving is the seperation amongst themselves and the inability to accept each members love for the same cause but individuality.
The Family is important; no matter what house or coven are you in, we all are in the same family... It is important not to forget who we are and were did we come from...
I think we should accept each for who or what they are...
acceptance is one of the biggest downfalls in society if we believe we are better than that we should learn to accept and not judge each other....black, white, american, jewish should not be a deciding factor we are all people
What I would like to see is the fading of the "fad" and the increase of the true Vampire societies. I believe that together as "The Family" we can construct our own belief systems and host Elysiums throughout the entire world. Together is the only way that we can grow through eachothers' knowledge.
I guess know we just need to sift out the bad weeds....
Yes I feel we should be united, we dont have to get along but atleast be united as a whole. As in unity comes strength I believe that whole heartly.
I think it would be great to unify in some form but then there is the struggle for power and the territorial bs that goes along with it. O.o if it could be that simple it would be great but lets face it... things are never that simple.
would be nice, but would mack us all weaker. personaly i feel small coves are fine.
The Covens give you the feeling of closeness; they are close to what we call "family".
family like relationships are essential in order for societys and covens to progress but it shouldnt be over done. whenever you spend too much time with someone like a family member or close friend they do start to annoy you alot! Being immortal would mean that there is more time to notace annoying factors about each other to close relationships and distant proximity.
Isn't that what we're here for? To find others that we can realte to? I realize that some come here just to satisfy curiosity, but there are many who are actually looking for a place to find kindred spirits. So, isn't this, in a sense "family"?
Of course, we have disagreements, but when it comes of fighting an outside threat or gain something or making a strong point of view, we must stay toghether!!!
i guess that there should be houses and havens like there are some, places where vampires can meet and be among themselves, but there should be no force or no hirarchy between us only brotherhood and frienship. everyone should be free to leave and dwell in the dark for hisselfa and be alone. i guess a mix of both would be the right thing
I agree partially with the freedom of movement...but it might cause chaos! I guess that the actual system is good, but it can be improved...
I feel that "a family" is about right. A single person can only do so much. Jesus could only do so much (not a Christian!) but with the unbreakable bond of family nothing is to far from possible. As long as we can work out all the poser and fakes that are in it because they think it is cool then we shall be fine
funny, I made a thread on unity and most feel it cannot be done as for me, well I feel it can be with understanding and faith
I'm gonna add my two cents here and say that I agree with the position of Lord Ryu and all the others who believe that a unified force is the only way to go when you're trying to make a difference. You go it alone..and all you become is a martyr. That makes for great press once you're gone..but too few to matter appreciate that while you're here. There will always be the wayward types..and sometimes that is best for their development. I think we all come home though sooner or later..and it's important to know you have a place to be if you need it. Maybe that's enough.

Faith is all we have some times and it’s a faith in something that keeps most of us going for the most part. "Unity" itself can be done but only if people are willing to be apart of a "unit" this day and age every one wants to be an individual, there own person. Most are even willing to turn there backs on things that need them for a sense of individuality
I will be looking for your other post
Let`s not get confused, and think that "family" equals submission and oblivion... If you become part of a family, that doesn`t mean that you`ll have to lose your identity or uniqueness. Families are good, but there are the individuals that make the difference! You must want to join a family, to be a part of it, you must not be obliged to do it!
MRD
Seeming most of us will never see the light of printing press Ink unless we suddenly get caught on a mass murdering spree or win the lottery i cant see how unifying any of us will make a difference to public perception.
Here alone youc an see the varying dregrees to what vampirism means to the masses. I personaly dont want to be unified with anyone that thinks Blade is the real McCoy here. You understand what im saying?
As for sanguines being unified i see no reason for that, or Phys. What would be the benefits?
I can see the benefits perhaps of having a house in Rl . Some people need a closeness to others i often wonder if thats part of the vampirism. Another form of gaining what is needed from others who understand the need.
Even those who claim the L H P tend to walk alone from what i have seen to a greater extent.
I like my independance ty
SKY,
I really must wonder if you read anything I wrote and didn't just skim enough of it so you could post something. I did not say that all of us should be together..if you'll read I quite clearly stated that.."..There will always be the wayward types..and sometimes that is best for their development." I believe that the only way to change OUR own community is in solidarity. That is of course the working definition of a progressive community. I in no way am going on a campaign to make our lifestyle more acceptable to those who do not already practice it...so I really don't see where you get the idea that I am trying to influence overall public opinion. Unity is also a choice overall..and I certainly never suggested some that goddamn role playing film buff scum should be your ally...or even that they qualify as vampyres. Once again, this isn't some Nazi round-up and no one is forcing you to hop on a train..so please don't act so offended by the proposition. I don't care if many of you come along for this..my only assertion is that we get nowhere by bickering amongst ourselves. For those of us who do want to change something..I find that the best way is to work together. I apologize if this proposition seems horrible to you..but you have the right to not to agree or to join into anything. Furthermore..I'm glad you like your independance, because I don't deny your right to it.

i think to stick together and make a larger crowd to further the common gaol
if we are together we can not be put down by the outside world
Maybe we can be defeated, but we`ll not go without a fight!
I feel anytime you have a group of people with a strong bond, you are a family. You should treat each other as family and have safe havens to go to with that family. This can fit any aspect in life. I think it would be wonderful, just like in a "regular" family, meaning, say, your own as in mom and dad, that, each area should have a so called "house" to go to where everyone shares that common background. I hope I am explaining myself correctly, its early..
That`s one of my dreams... To open a coffee-house or something like that, which I can share with people I bond with.
i think most of us already welcome the other of us!! were are not pig headed.
MistyWillow...I have to say that some of us are very pig-headed. :)
- D
Ok I have been looking over this post all night and I have to say that you are one of the pigheaded ones mrd. You made a post asking a question and now you are being very defensive with every ones opinions. We all have our own beliefs and feelings on things and you have displayed act of pigheadedness by shooting others down for speaking their mind. So honesty with out sending offence, its people like you that show how hard it is to maintain a family in this day and age, because you make claims of unity and then cut people down when them take steps to make it possible. I also feel that you are power hunger and I can tell you enjoy arguing. So don’t bother posting a reply because I don’t care.
It's the type of person that talks about not posting a reply that can't defend what they say. I would like you to point out EXACTLY where I've cut someone down. In fact, just so you know..that little post about pig headedness was rather playful and wasn't directed at anyone in particular..I think you needn't read so much into things. And power hungry..this is the Internet!! If I want power, I'll go and get it in the real world. I've done nothing here but defend essential unity and in fact everyones right to their opinion. So don't go shooting off your mouth about something you know nothing about. I'd like you to show me any instance where I done anything but respond to those who state that this unity is not essential and furthermore that it is a bad idea. And the fact is..I've only done it once. I think you need to read over these posts a little more carefully before you respond next time.

I was on a hiatus not ready to come back..but i was made aware of this post by my friend. i want to say that I read all the comments in here and it is fine to disagree but talking out of one's butt without any idea what you are talking about strikes me as being extremely ignorant. If you read the intent f Mrd's post you will see he is very legite in what he was trying to get across. The last few posts have come from individuals that have no idea what our conditions stems from.. or what our purpose is here. Mine personally is to help educate those that are ignorant.. but there is a difference in being ignorant and just being plain rude. So those of you that attacked Mrd i pity you for your rudeness. We are a family in this community. It is in our family that we help eachother, aide one another and not poke fingers at eachother. If we dont agree there is a place and a time to bring it.. and a thing called ettiquette. This really gets me when i see posts from people that turn a good thing into a bad thing. His intent was a good one. And I along with other community members stand here by his side to back him on it.. Shame on you...
The question would be, for me, what would a house, a family, be working toward? Unity, yes, positive public opinion, that would be up to a vote...
Before we cut eachother up, let's first not assume that we completely understood the question posed. Ask for clarification if there is a problem. If you understand eachother and still have a problem with eachother....well, the pig in me says 'give us a show', but the rational mind speaks up and overrides the pig to say "Respect eachother's opinions."
Yes, I agree that those of us that joined for the sole purpose of meeting others like ouselves & learning more should be welcomed & considered family.
Unfortunately, we get those that join here treating this site as a dating site. Thats not what Cancer intended this site to be.
i do believe that we should welcome our kindred they move in the darkness just as we do and welcoming them is better that conflicting with them
MRD i wrote my post after reading this bit of yours.. I have read your post and everyone elses.. this bit is what you said
I'm gonna add my two cents here and say that I agree with the position of Lord Ryu and all the others who believe that a unified force is the only way to go when you're trying to make a difference. You go it alone..and all you become is a martyr. That makes for great press once you're gone..but too few to matter appreciate that while you're here.
Thats what i based my reply on. I dont need to mindlessly post as i have my quota do posts for leveling up if thats what you meant. If i came across snippy i apologise, its rare i feel like i want to answer or join in a thread, yours i always find really interesting even if i dont always agree. No hard feelings i hope, besides i gave you something to needlessly reply to..:winks:
I very much beleive we should treat one another as family.
Thank you for helping me to clear at least that part up. I feel I owe it to you to explain then what I meant about being a martyr. I was referring to it in the sense that we become personal martyrs. Of course, the world at large will not care..but those around you might. Your friends that believe in you will know of your drive and ambitions..and may smile kindly on you afterwards. But the norm is usually that they don't think about that until after you've been lost. I apologize as well, if I came across as jumping down at you. I certainly did not mean to imply you were trying to level up in anyway. Thank you so kindly for replying..it was much appreciated. :)

Np.I wasnt offended in the least discussion and debate are an art form and when done with style its a pleasure to participate.
Its interesting seeing others opinions on all this.
I dont know if its me or my age or my generation but the thought of anyone knowing ,what shall i call it, my darker side. Horrifies me. It facinates me that so many are so open , but they do tend to be the at the younger end of the scale.
I have to say, I am very pleased with the overall outcome thus far in this forum. There have been some great ideas presented, and while the tensions have been apparent as with any large group..it just goes to show that the force of our spirits and reason can outweigh all negative odds. It think it was perhaps best stated by Eugene V. Debs when it was said:
"When we are in partnership and have stopped clutching each other's throats, when we have stopped enslaving each other, we will stand together, hands clasped, and be friends. we will be comrades, we will be brothers, and we will begin the march to the grandest civilization the human race has ever known"
Thank you all for contributing so much, I really mean that.
- D
I believe we should come together in a sense. Yet, just as it be human nature, we always have our differences about how things should be ran or what we should consider what makes us awakened. Yet, if we can agree to the ideal that we are one people, then it could bring us closer to achieving something we have been looking after.
- Sin
i think thta brotherhood is imp amoung vampires...for it keeps connection..
Yes, it refers to general changes..but also alludes to the problem of cohesive relationships in our community. It is often so 'touch and go' with so many of us..I must say that I yearn for a sense of permanence. I think that building a solid bedrock would instill a sense of confidence in many more of us to the degree that we are more comfortable presenting our ideas if we feel it will have an impact. I do not pretend to have drawn a roadmap to this ideal state..but I do feel that unity is the foundation of any successful movement..even if that unity comes only as mutual respect. It's a start at least. :)
- D
I agree with most here we need each other ,to grow and servive....
There is always strength in groups, and family is a collective group, able to bring together different ideas, suggestions etc. We should pull together but also respect each other as individuals to give each space. Vampires are I believe for the most part are loners. To many in the area, food source thins quickly. I do believe family should pull together..Strength in numbers.
Different cultures mean different goals, different ideas etc. Now if two non-likeminded groups got together, that might cause all kinds of problems, such as who will lead and how do you decide that. In the modern world, the most popular way of deciding who is the rightful leader is to go to war. Now while many may be for war, I believe that while unity among all may be a beautiful thing, I also believe that we must appreciate who we are and focus more on respecting those around us. Unification is not the answer, it only cheapens who each of us is and what we stand for.
Ramirez,
I believe that when responding to a reply that I should take the person into account as well as the words often times..so I travelled over to your profile in hopes of better understanding your view. From what I've been able to read, I do indeed understand why you would oppose the prospect of unity. However, based on that information I must wonder about the last part of your statement concerning that 'unification'. You stated that it cheapens who each of us are and what we stand for. I am a little in the dark as to how this could be the case. It's true that we're all different, and that conflict naturally arises from time to time..but it's like you said, it's an issue of respect. Just because a greater majority of us are unified in one cause(that being to build a better community), it does not mean that we must conjoin in all causes. Individuality is key, and I don't think any of us would suggest that we become mere drones and reflections of one another in any way. These differences only serve to enrich us..but our division only helps to make these differences harder to reconcile. I think that our coming together begets the antithesis of cheapening our personal natures and positions..it actually serves to make us stronger in the end by allowing us to better serve the needs of others. In doing so, it serves our own needs as well. That's just my opinion though.
- D
even though we should come together and enjoy each other's company and learn with each other...in the end no matter how much we want to be with others of like...we end up being alone
its who we are..even in a room full of like minded..we are alone
I believe that all vampires should and can consider other vampires as members of their family at their descretion.
However, I also see the advantages to be treated like family by your own kind- the possibilities for peace and harmony are there.
I believe we should band together, strength is in numbers and only by acceptance can we form a stronger more tightly knit community... a place to belong. It is most definitely of the utmost importance that we accept each other or we will all be alone and that is not a good place to be.
I am very much for vampyric family. Right now we are at a very volatile time coming out of our modern dark ages to a mass realignment of the paradigm for a more pro vampyric ascendance and reamergance magic. The only problem is with the internet we have become divided on what we are, what vampyrism is.
Yes, we should join or at least ally our selves with one another. Our family is important. Blood and Mind united. All vamps of any degree, even those that are just lifestylist vampyres. We should all be united to some degree.
It has been noted in the past that weak creatures band together in groups, or those whose prey is bigger than them band together.
The vampire, in any sense, is a noted finiky and flightly creature. It may band together but just as soon it will fly off, with emotional turmoil in it's wake.
My personal perception comes in two ways. From the view of my own House, I am glad to have such a collection of people as members of something they all believe in. Of course, now and then we have our little misgivings. Our problems, but never has there been a problem with each other in a large sense.
One could say we banded together out of need to know others, to find ones like us close enough to identify with without the threat of seperation or the likes.
.....
My personal perception is that I only need people now and then, with such simply pleasures as music, chocolate, the internet and work to keep me happy I no longer need to keep people physically around me at all.
Yet, even I, will go to a club *stacked* with people every weekend to find people like me, who I can indentify and feel safe with.
So... Yes I suppose one would need a group of people, not necessarily a family just an organised group.
Like this site, if we claimed this as a Family, we have seen many disputes, and some rather large disputes at that. And it would show there is no harmony. But by claiming a community, we keep the harmony by allowing the differences of opinions to be expressed with mild censure of course.

Getting to know one another gives the opportunity to view different perspectives and points of view. Information exchange helps one become closer to their own completeness, especially if they have an open mind.
you should be very close to the ones that are like you, they are goin gto be your family
Definitely yes!!! we should welcome one another. It's bad enough the world is divided by stupid shit. If we don't have the ability to unite ( to some degree ) then we're no better than them!!!
As a family we could be stronger , the individual is ok but there is strength in numbers tc
Yeap! Numbers sometimes can be very cruel... But sometimes numbers mean nothing without the strenghts of the soul, without understanding, without cooperation...
Supposing in this alternate universe, I'd agree.
Wouldn't it be nice if we'll have connections STILL with the LIVING?
The people participating in this discussion are, indeed, living..aren't they? Perhaps I am misunderstanding your entry..if so, would you care to elaborate?
- D
I think he means that it'd be nice if non-vampires could understand us in ways we understand each other.
The family is a nice idea. Many need that kind of connection. And it does help to work together rather than to have everyone off on their own.
