*srry for spelling*...Do u believe in people getting possesed by spirits?..I have seen documents and such...and i have my own belief's about it..but i want to hear ur thoughts and opinions

I believe in walk-ins. Where a spirit who has not finished their work here on earth will enter a body.

the exercism of emliy rose,Threw out history reported exercism have been circulating threw out the Catholic church.
Wich dose perfom about a 100 exersims a year.How ever they will deni this I have inside sorces that attend or have attend one or 2 of these right out in the middle of church.

i beleive in spirits but i dont beleive in being possesed.....there has never been a case around here n if it really happens dont you think it would happen anywhere?

I have had an experience of my own on this one when I was about 12 years old...

There was 4 of us sitting in my bedroom just chit chatting about various things, then we get on the subject of hauntings in homes, and soon after, one of my friends just points at us and starts laughing hysterically, I mean to the point of drool coming from his mouth.
This went on for about 20 to 30 seconds then he came to and stopped laughing. He had this weird look on his face and asked what just happened.

He said it was like having an out of body experience, he was standing beside himself watching us but had no control over his body or movements. He said the first thing he felt when he started coming to was the drool going down his chin, then a couple seconds after his stomach hurting from laughing apparently, but he doesn't remember ever laughing. He felt very drained of energy for about 30 minutes afterwards.

This was definately one of the strangest moments I've encountered in my life.

As I've said before, it's all about energy. I believe that if your personal energy is low enough, and the spirits energy is high enough, it can take over. The length of time is determined by how much energy both have are able to gatherand keep. Spirits have to draw energy from elsewhere, living things have energy all their own. But if you're sick or weak it’ll be low to begin with. At that point the “exorcism” shoots you full of nature/otherworldly energy. Giving you the strength to force the spirit out. Don’t you just love science?

I dont know if people get possesed but I have heard of some strange things. I thought I was possesed once but that was when I was changing inside. So I really dont know for sure.

I think it's possible, though I'm not very sure how an evil spirit decides who they're going to possess.

Its very possible. Ive heard of stories & ive seen a movie or 2 based on people being possessed. I do believe its possible, but as far as how it happens im not very sure about. Ive heard different theories, but im not 100% positive on which 1 i believe is true.

I would have to agree with most on this subject. From what I have read and I'll not bore you with some long cut and paste. But there are some really good documented cases that show Passion can be very real.

I personally believe that it is possible to get possessed by a demon/spirit. However, i don't believe that it's due to low or high energy levels as some one had stated before me. I think people who have certain abilities whether they know it or not ( like psychics for example) are more vulnerable in the sense of being possessed. To the person who stated before me that it has to do with low energy and high energy levels, i am not completely disagreeing, i just think that it has to do more with different kinds of energy.

I beleive poeple who let it happen or play with things that gives doors to the spirits to come in, like a ouji board, or similar things, using incantion calling them out, I mean if you open a door, then never know what could come in, or take you over.

i completely agree with the person who wrote that above me. I've played a oujii board once and i will never play it again. but at the same time if u are opening doors to the other side then isn't it kind of your fault if you get possessed?

I do believe that people can become possessed. If they feel that a spirit is interfering with they're mind, eventually that spirit will take over and the possession begins. That's my outlook on it.

I do believe in possession but have never experienced or witnessed it myself thank goodness. There are many documented cases and I am sure that the Catholic Church..which has more experience than any other..has many more that it will never share.

I do believe that people who are open minded and that are vulnerable are more increased to get possesed

vulnerablity is the worst thing for possession its probly why most children or weaker individuals have it happen.

I agree that the more open minded or even Innocent you are that possession is very much possible.

Such emphasis on evil spirits..what about good spirits , couldn't they possess someone who may be led a stray , or be in danger in some way , helping to steer them in a better path for instance? It is a thought.

I think it is very possible.... I had an experience once when a friend of mine was possesed she tried to kill me.... It took me slapping her pretty hard for her to come to and realize what she had done...

okie dokie....the only way for someone to be possesed is if someone is weak minded and is easy to currupt or if someone believes in the magic or anything like that then they could also be easily currupted

possessions are real no doubt about it,you don't have to be religious to be possessed as they depict either,i have seen many weird things occur and with all the experiences that is one thing that i know is real if one becomes spiritually weak or gives a spirit dominance over themselves.the most easiest way to be possessed is ignorance with curiosity of spiritual practices.

I would think a spirit who possess a body just wants to cause evil or just wants to feel what it is like to have a real body again...

my fellow house member "Foreverseeking" has made a good point...most people look as possessions as only bad spirits and don't look at the possibilites of a good spirit helping for something good.

Indeed i do believe in possesion, I have seen some pretty wierd stuff when i was younger. And having hundreds and hundreds of people claiming to see or having things happen to them with witnesses, about things they can't explain. That there should answer your question.

It's a scary thought, I have no idea if it's true or not.

I think that possession is rare, if at all real. I think that children are more common, just for the innocence and purity factor.

This is such a hot topic, because of many of the Possession cases, might have been severe psychotic break downs, but because psychology wasn't really an issue in 16+ century(ies), possession was blamed.

Possession is very real... You can either be willing or the spirit/demon can be forceful. But yes, possession does seem rare, when really it isn't...

being possessed can be a awful experience and when such an occurence happens most people at first think that the person just has gone crazy i feel that more people should be aware of the signs of an authentic possession.

Could be scitzophrenia or another mental illness? I reckon it is possible though, since nothing is really inpossible. I have had 2 experiences in the last couple of years that have been strange. On one occasion I woke up and I had all these thoughts of going down to a certain area and whacking someone with a baseball bat till they were unconcious, I told myself that I was too tired and couldnt be bothered and went back to sleep. I had control of myself and my thought patterns, though I was thinking in a manner how I usually dont think. Another time I was in normal thought pattern and then I got the urge to find a certain type of animal and kill it, I told myself that I was too tired and couldnt be bothered on this occasion too and a few hours later I thought back on my thought processes and it was like, what the hell was I thinking? .... very strange. Maybe the beast within? ...

Yes people can get possesed when a spirit gets inside the wrong body. They get confused is why.

being raised catholic I would have to say yes .. I mean look at all the documented cases world wide ..

I have seen some that thought that they were but then found out that all it was was their personalities clashing with one another. I do believe that its possible to have it happen but then how are we to know if it is true possesion or if its just our many personalities clashing? I have yet to get an answer to that as I know that with myself I usually keep myself under control. Yes at times I do get angry but I do not blame it on being possesed as some others that I know.

I believe in possession. There are countless stories & documentaries of possessions, such as the Exorcist of Emily Rose, were they tried to figure out a reasonable explination but couldn't.

I do believe that someone can be possessed all depending on how weak of mind they are to begin with.

& yes the Catholic church deny all about performing exorcisms, they frown upon it, but they still do perform them in "severe" cases

I believe in people getting possesed by spirits, that may be the reason their are many people who are insane running around...

I do believe that spirits can possess... but only if their strong enough... or if there is a certain reason for this act. I also think that maybe the person who is being taken over has some connection in a way.. like maybe they are mediums, or they live in the spirits house, or was the cause of the death (in some connection what so ever). But yes... I believe possessing is real!!

I beleive in it. I think though that for a spirit to enter a person it either has to be welcomed or very strong. Now when I say welcomed I don't just mean a person asking for a spirit to enter I also mean that the actions and decisions a person makes will make he or she more or less open to a good or bad spirit

It seems, I haven't posted here in a bit, least not bout the means of incarnation...

So summing it up. Body that becomes possessed, is forfeit unto the possessing entity, the entire bloodline, issuing forth from the possessed will become suitable given guidance for the incarnation of the spirit which did the initial possession.

No spirit may incarnate into this plane, orginating from another plane, without first securing some means to craft a suitable host. The stupid ones are the ones the get forced out. But once the possessed have offspring then any future offspring from that source is fair game. Any right to a soul being into the vessel of flesh prepared is forfeit and the initial spirit shall gain possession of its own fleshy vessel, and so on.

It would seem that the Catholic Church is very strict about performing, or even considering performing, an excorcism. For good reason.
The victim could just be clinically insane (thats the obvious first answer, is it not?)
Or it could just be a hoax gone too far.
I think excorcisms happen but are not as common as 100 a year.

lets just say the human mind can be a powerful thing on a person where it can be self infilicting and /or keep the person insaane for a moment where even science cant prove wrong or right

Yes, I believe people can be possessed by spirits. I think in most instances the spirits were taken away more quickly in life than they thought they were going to be. I guess they are trying to "live on" in a way.

I know that it is possible, I have witnessed them doing so, both for good and for bad. This is why I always remember to bind and seal my circles when doing summonings, but the evil tend to few and far between recently. Usually they are here to give advice...

I do belive possesen is possible, as with most i have never had the pleasure of experiencing one. We know the catholic church publicly performed exorcisims up till the "Emily Rose case". Today the church has guildlines set for exorcisims, but during time like the witch trials they would kill anybody that deviated from the churchs "normal way of living". really how many so called demonic possesen are truely a demon taking over a persons body!!

possesion i think is possible but not very likely, and if it does occur i doubt its like the movies, i think it more plausable that it takes a form like mental illness, some kind of dementia....

I truly believe it is possible. Sometimes I think my cousin get's possessed because of her Bipolar. I think that's a factor of Bipolar. And look at what happened to Emily Rose! She was a real girl and that was a true story. Therefore it's most definately possible. Good topic Ray.

Today I am feeling a bit removed from this idea. I think being possessed is a great way to not be repsonbile for your own actions.

Wow the scientific overtones on this topic are revolting. As well as the pseudo psychotropic concepts being discussed.

We currently lack the description of possession from the cases observed since the dawn of man. When before terms like insanity, the people who had perceptions beyond *sane* or the realm as dictated by a king, were regarded as having knowledge, and wisdom, These were the original shamans of the old tribes. Still are in some parts of the worlds. The followers of Vodoun Loa routinly become possessed as a form of comunion with their diety. It is documented that things become known which are other wise unknown. I have observed such rites, and have had the good fortune to know and see ritual possessions, and how intense they can be, where the energy of the god-head possesses the body.

Thus being said, the spirits or demons can indeed possess the flesh for means of communicating some idea, it takes a certain type of medium to effect this, but when successful the mind of the body becomes surpressed and the invading mind takes over. i have delt with this first hand when channeling, and this is the state that extends beyond the easy way out terms of "insanity, mental instability etc".

They may have problems, but you would to if you had something using you as a medium. No amount of drugs are gonna make the thing go away, the more subdued the body becomes the more open the mind becomes to such attacking and possessing things.

This isn't meant to be a jab... but I absolutely believe in possession, and I think those that are prone to be possessed are weak-minded in some way.

Their mind may have been crippled by an illness, a traumatic event... or might just be weak in general.

That said, I've never encountered someone who has been possessed. I have been in the presence of people in a trance-like state, but I wouldn't call that possession.

I also think that 'possession' is capable by all sorts of sprits - malevolent to benevolent.

I think someone can be possed by a demon but not a ghost.

I think possession is possible. However, i'm not sure in what manner. I would say probably by entities like demons or even good entities, but i don't know about ghosts. They would be over a different power than us, so they could attempt to posses us. Not really sure overall with that.

Yes, I do. In fact, I've seen the effects of a demonic possession and it wasn't something I'd care to see again. I'm just glad I'm not likely to be possessed due to my odd spiritual energy.

In a time before psychiatry, or psychotherapy, many mentally ill people were said to be "possessed". Actual possession by "demonic sprits" is pretty rare. In voodoo the bocour (?) can become possessed by the sprit of one of their Gods. Cool to watch.

My first thought about possession is mental health issues.

I've also been told of people who get too close to spiritualness(sp) and a demon comes to them and they can't move. They believe it is sent to test their faith as they get so close. I've had friends this actually happened to.

I believe if your psyche is fragile that you could be open to possession by unsettled spirits.

I believe it can happen. There are far too many documented cases not to believe in it. I also agree with some of the others, possession doesn't have to be done strictly by an evil spirit/being. Good spirits are equally capable of possessing someone.

i believe you can be. think about it. if someone is doing a spell that involves protection from bad spirits, and they don't put the protection around them, then what?

or an incubus is an example too... they attack mostly holy women to ruin their purity, and because there is more energy there. a spirit could possess someone for the exact same reason.

Possession is widely documented in the Bible... the transfiguration of christ is the revelation of the spirits inhabiting Jesus' body following the entry ceremony performed by the John the Baptist...

I believe that people can be inhabited by spirits. I don't know about full on possession. I most definitely don't believe that someone can be possessed by a demon or the devil himself. Why would they bother? I think that a spirit might go into a living person in order to try and communicate or maybe on accident. *shrugs*
