what exactly is a vampiric lifestyle? .. would it not be any lifestyle a vampire opted to live?

I do my damnest not to be up or out in the day more from the fact my hubby works nights... and that whole sunburn from hell thing.

I do not wear black all the time ( ok maybe 90% of the time.. but its more cause it matches everything lol)

yes I drink blood as often as I can.

I go horseback riding and hiking as much as I can. I read alot. uumm spend time with my friends and family.

does this define vampire lifestyle?... I believe it does as I am a vampire and tis the lifestyle I choose to live.

I don't live a vampiric lifestyle because I don't make any claims of BEING a vampire...

Sure I have an account on Vampire Rave...this in itself should not be taken as an intimation that my reasons for being here are to be recognized as one...

And I personally don't think you HAVE TO be a vampire to be a member of VR...I've read the VR Manual and nowhere does it say that this site is ONLY for Vampires...

From what i have seen and learned we are a very diverse group of people. ( laffs for Goddess sake I listen to country music alot.. can not get much more ungoth than that lol)

Priss - I don't think Invisible was saying everyone had to claim to be Vampires on here. I think what she was getting at was those who do claim they are, may not really be what they claim to be. Those are the "posers".

Vampires have little if anything to do with the "goth" culture. True that most adore the darker colors, but I know quite a few who wear regular clothes, such as truckers, lawyers, business persons etc. You do not have to be "goth" to be "vampiric".

If you wish to be artistic and dawn vampiric wardrobe, then more power to you. The odd looks you get your way, well it comes with the territory. Attitude, persona or whathaveyou, even the way you speak...Like adding the words tis, sire, my lord/lady..ect., may be involved, but are childish in my opinion.

It all rather depends on the individual. As the culture is a very diverse one at that.

I personally do not think that the majority of people anywhere can live the Vampire lifestyle, mainly because it would be to difficult to stay away from the sun, at some point in a persons life they would have to go out into the sun or if they did not have any blood to drink ect. or atleast that is if a person was living the lifestyle of a vampire like in the dracula novel...

the way i see it is this any lifestyle we choice to live can be a vampire lifestyle if you are a vampire and u live a certain way then that is to that person a vampire lifestyle. and not to start any arguments but vampires dont burst into flames if they are in the sunlight. it will give them a worse sunburn than "normal people" and for some that i know it gives them a headache to stay out in it for to long.

Vampiric Culture? You mean like Buffy? Or possibly Angel? The question is a little vague, so if you could elaborate a little more, I could give a better answer.

Most would find it somewhat difficult to life the Vampire lifestyle 24/7, but I'm sure some try, and are even very successful at it. The problem in my mind is where would you find doner?

As for sleeping arangements, are you speaking traditional, or modern? The thought of sleeping in a coffin sounds rather......ghoulish to me LOL!.

There are a lot of people who prefer the night here. Could be vampiric, could also be adolescence.

The bloodsucking, or rather bloodtasting, is another matter. That, I think, is the ultimate qualifier.

If you agree, and setting aside the sex and blood aspect so deeply, roundly and exhaustively covered, then I think a successful vampiric lifestyle would require money, and lots of it.

I like to think I've moved beyond adolescence but still prefer the night. I definitely have more energy then. Unfortunately - life ties require me to be more functional during the day. As for the sun thing - I burn very easily, but that could be from being Irish. I also have a tendency towards anemia, but then I've never really felt a draw towards drinking anyone else's blood.

I don't think I'm a vampire, nor would I care to live that lifestyle. Rather ironic, don't you think? A dead man living.

I try to avoid the term "undead" but vampires are in a special class re. that. Not really dead and rotting, and with their special vampiric endowments, it's almost as if they're living bigger, better lives than most humans.

All are very valid points,
there is no one set life style to a vampire,
the more modern times calls for a rather discrete way to show if you believe of the vampiric life style. It was a rather vague question for the reason that it was supposed to start a discussion, in which it did it's job.

i know a few vampires around here and some are gothic and wear all black, i like to wear all black just because i like it, but i know others that don't, one guy comes to the meetings dressed in a suit and another in boots and a cowboy hat. but i have seen the type that wear the old frilled shirts and black top hat, vampires just wear what they like if it's a suit they wear that or maybe they like to dress up like the old gothic cloths just a matter of tast for that person.

As stated several times the vampiric culture varies with your view on vampires and your own interpretation of what their culture is or should be. The vamps will view it differently than the posers, the lovers of fiction even more differently. And even within the various divisions you will find disagreement and debate.

This topic is rather interesting in comparison with others I have read and responded on. There are a great many difference which would need be resolved before deciding on a definitive "culture." Albeit facinating I feel that image has been "colored" by Hollywood, and the true culture is however we ultimately choose to survive. After all not all are rich, and most of us acculate what wealth we have through the course of time, thereby as time marches we are allowed more comforts such as homes on multiple continents, boats, and better transportation. In the end however the culture is not as clear as the end grain it is however what defines the person.

I don't claim to live any kind of 'vampiric lifestyle', however I do like to stay outside at night because the night time is beautiful to me. I like to freak people out with blood, I've tasted it, but would never harm someone else for it. (on purpose anyway) But I agree with Invisible, it would be very hard and exhausting to try to live up to the lifestyle of a vampire in this time period, and I don't think that many people on this website do, I just think that they have a deep fasination with vampires and the mistic lore behind it.

I don't believe one can class what a Vampiric lifestyle is...It is up to the person who lives it.
But if you are talking about the Hollywood sterotypical modern age Vampiric lifestyle, then no I don not live that way, as I could not possibly go to a different underground rave everynight...
How one defines this lifestyle is up to them and there for that is their Vampiric lifestyle

A Vampiric parson by definition seems to be different for most people on here. So I am thinking that how I may view living it is not how some others may view it. Some may see it far more extreme than I, and others far less. There are aspects of it that I do not mind showing and then others that I really do not see a reason to show to someone that may not be interested in it as I am. Not that I care what they think of me. Just seems pointless to even take in the effort to explain or define.

I just enjoy vampires, but I am far from living any sort of lifestyle close to it. Work has been picky with the dress code, coming in dressed as a vampire would be a quick ticket out the door and on my way to unemployment. I even had a job once where my boss asked me to stop wearing black tshirts too much because he thought I was scaring the customers.

The stereotype on vampiric fashion sense is all black all the time..

I mostly qualify in that category.

Also, I'd rather be outside at night then during the day.

But of course life doesn't permit me to stay inside all day, so I don't.

I drink blood.

I don't, however, sleep in a coffin or anything of the sort.

Do I qualify?

To me, I've always looked at sang., and psi. vampires as something like a diabetic. Regular people whose bodies are in need of a particular substance to sustain a healthy way of life. Not any particular clique.

But if you wear all black, indulge yourself in blood, thrive in the night, does that make you a vampire? Are the stereotypical views of the vampiric ways true?
I wear mostly black, I only move outside during the day when forced, and I do love the taste of blood. you don't have to sleep in a coffin to be a vampire, you don't even have to dress a certain way in my opinion, does that make my view wrong compared to someone else's who views that being a vampire is how Hollywood idealizes us?

I still don`t understand the exact purpose of this thread.
An unwritten law of journalism states that vague question recieve vague answers. So please restrain your question area of responses.
You should start by defining the "vampiric culture" term.

I have never claimed to live a vampiric lifestyle at all. I do tend to stay up all night and sleep all day with black out curtains on my windows but that is about it for me.

I think it is easiest to try and categorize everything in to nice little lables, but like most of things in life this system may not be the best one.

I sunburn to a lobster at the slightest hint of sun I prefer the night time, I have on occasion drank blood; does this make me a vampyre. I do not drink blood on a regular basis and I enjoy laying out in the sun to get a tan... be it fleeting. Does this mean I am not a vampyre.

As I said it is easy to categorize, but this never does justice to what is being labelled. No instead we should understand that there is no set stereotype for vampyres like hollywood creates, so for now I'll just go on being myself.

A 40 something recusitated corpse with a fear of those anual doctor's visits to see why I am still here...

To be honest,
the point of this was to be vague,
the vague questions always get the best answers.

But as I have heard from many journalists,
there is truth in fiction.
I was simply asking who was living a vampiric lifestyle, that was open to interpretation.

I think the closest to living the life would just be my work habbits, I have worked the third shift for the past eight years. The only time I see the sun is if I go to the lake.

There are probably some people who honestly try to live what they feel is a Vampiric lifestyle.

But who are we to judge what that is?
Afterall are we not trying to break down stereotypes?

i dont claim to be vampire or live the life style (unless you consider staying up all night, wearing sunglasses inside and on gloomy days, or prefering dark rooms traits or actions of what a vampire would do in this time) i just find the mythology and lore of vampires very intriging. so here i am...not to mention i've meet a lot of kick ass cool people on this site

I feel very fortunate that I am able to live my vampiric lifestyle in relative ease. I am a goth so people are used to my appearance, plus I am active on the BDSM scene, where the vast majority of my donors come from.

I am not tied to a day job either, which is just wonderful for me.

So yes, I do follow a vampiric lifestyle.

Live the lifestyle of a vampire? I think that to live the lifestyle of a vampire you simply have to be yourself. I mean, there is no real definition of what a vampire is (unless you're talking about the mythical undead vampire), so basically...you can live what lifestyle you want and still be living the "lifestyle".

Like Wolfsbohne first said...its does depend on your perception...but it also depends on what others think as well..something one person my think of as that lifestyle may not be the same as yours..

And to my experience few have actually called themselves "vampires" as invisible said...I myself neither claim or ever will claim to be a vampire.

Everybody lives differently, even vampires. You don't have to be all gothed out to live a vampiric lifestyle or follow any other of those stereotypes to live it either. Its like saying you can only be gay if you act flamboyantly. Theres no one way to live a vampiric lifestyle.
