we have a goast up here in a little township called ts7 where a girl went off a cliff on prom night and you can still see her goast there some nights

i live in scranton,pa. there is a town next to us that had something happened like the amityville horror the name of the family was the smerals the town was either pittston or old forge.

Tehre's some pretty creepy stuff. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

what you have called lore is real. the mines underneath that town are still on fire. i have seen the town with my own eyes.

I've been wanting to see it for quite a long time...at a very save distance of course. I know its real, but it still has mystery and its still very strange.

my family drove right through town. and that was the only way we saw the smoke coming up from the mines. and such.

My local haunting - Disneyland..... full of ghosts

I would say that disneyland would have ghosts. Sure there are plenty of people that died in the process of building the park

There is this old hotel in lewiston, ny called the frontier house and the downstairs was converted into a mcdonald's . It is said that a man was killed in this old building before it was McDonald`s. When you eat down stairs you can feel the chill and hear the man crying out for help.

Its not really like a ghost, but my boyfriend was eating at a McD's and this guy was having an argurment with his reflection in the mirror. Creepy, but not really legend. lol Poor McD's they get all teh crazy stuff.

The Black Angel

In the cemetary, in the town across the river, stand a staute, a statue of an Angel. A Black Angel. In the dark, at nite, you may visit the angel to determine your fate. If the eyes glow when you look at them, you will not live through the nite.

this place is just creepy to begin with, it is in a hallow which means its hidden in a hill, at the base and lots of twisty windy roads, lots of over growth on trees, small lil shit shack like buildings, old stone bridges.

there was a bunch of lore related to the old railroad system that began there eons ago. Most report seeing red eyes, or yellow eyes in the brush..

The Don Cesar on Saint Petersburg beach was used as a medical facility during World War Two. On the 3rd flood is where they kept the insain asylum. Many inhumain acts were committed upon these poor souls. You can no longer visit this floor of the hotel. They have erected a wall and placed a small table and some chairs n front of it just out side of the elevator with a flower vase that is always filled with fresh flowers. Or at least that last I checked a few years back that how it was kept. The floor has a very strong supernatural energy flow to it and I did have an unexplainable act occur there most say its hunted.. I am not sure what to call it.

there is a lore where i live or i guess i call it a saying..that if you shot a deer for the sport of it and not to feed yourself..the spirit of the deer will hunt you down and hurt your soul..because it was killed just for the sport of it.

I always hated the one about the woman at the Fountains in Crystal Lake IL... my stepdad used to go to a model car club meeting there. It was just freaky because they had some checker boards set up in the room we would be in and towards the end of the night when people had their things on display and everyone was looking the checkers started moving. *shivers* Their "library" area was creepy too. It was always colder than other places and I thought that the walls were going to close in on me. I never stayed there very long.

Just south of Tupelo is a sign that was placed by the National Park Service which reads WITCH DANCE..

The old folks say the witches once gathered here to dance and that whenever their feet touched the ground the grass withered and died, never to grow again....

And the sign appears to be right. If you search around the area, you can actually find scorched spots on the earth where the grass will not grow.

These spots have been there for years, catching the interest of even Andrew Jackson, who noted the spots in his journal after a trip along the Trace on the way home to Tennessee.

The Trace is very old. It was traveled along by the explorer De Soto in 1541 and for more than 500 years before that, used by the Chickasaw and Choctaw Indians as the best way to travel.... but even they avoided the scorched places in the earth.

It has been told to me that if your car breaks down on the Trace, especially in front of Witch Dance, stay with your car.

Wait for a ranger.

Do not try to walk to get to a phone...

Or you might not make it...ever.

Decatur illinoi where i live has gained a reputation as a town that is rather notorious for building over the sites of former cemeteries, both in recent times and beyond. The downtown area of Decatur happens to rest on land where a number of American Indian burial sites are located. Centuries ago, the land around Decatur belonged to tribes within the large Illinwek Confederation. During this time, a number of these tribes settled in the area, although none of them lived within the boundaries of the future city limits. When the first settlers arrived, they would find this land abandoned by the Native Americans. They had used it only for their burial grounds. Today, several of the city's reportedly haunted sites (like the old Culver House and the Powers Mansion) rest on lands that records say were once burial locations. Another interesting fact is that the native americans believed to have only buried their dead among areas that they felt were between the worlds.

By me there is a story of a "swamp monster" in the Honey Island swamp just east of New Orleans. It's a cajun bigfoot if you will.

The White Lady's Castle
Just outside of Rochester, NY is Charlotte Beach. This is awesome for us residents, because if you've ever gone to Rochester in the winter, you know how cold it can be. Somewhere along Charlotte Beach, far back and to the east, is a grassy knoll which is separated from the rest of the beach. In that grassy knoll are the remnants of a "castle" that once stood proudly, but is now partially in ruin. This is where the so-called "White Lady" lived.

The White Lady, whose name was Eelissa (said Elisa), was a woman who lived all alone in the large castle with her one and only daughter. She had had 2 sons, but they had somehow gotten out of the picture when the daughter was very young. She loved her daughter very, very much, and she raised her to be suspicious of men, because her husband had beaten her, and then mysteriously disappeared. It is assumed that Eelissa had murdered her husband because she had filed an abuse report against him, and the town of Rochester did nothing about it. They lived in bliss until one day, when the daughter was 15, she brought home a boyfriend. She had had boyfriends, but this was the first one she trusted enough to bring home to her mother. However, the second her mother laid eyes on the young man, she didn't trust him and she got into a huge arguement with the daughter and boyfriend. The daughter grabbed the boyfriend by the hand and stormed out of the house

To this day, teens and young adults go to the White Lady's Castle in search of the ghost of Eelissa, the daughter, or the boyfriend. Many have claimed to see a female, dressed completely in white, floating above the ground, toes only grazing the grass. Others have claimed to see the face of the daughter in a window of the house, a tear rolling down her cheek. And yet others have claimed to see the fire of that fatefull night, licking the night sky as it blazed from the barn. One more curious fact about this place, the end of the house which is away from the barn is the section which is falling down today. This is odd, because you would assume the nearer end would have some damage from fire, but it is still perfectly preserved.

So, if you are ever in Rochester, NY, feel free to have yourself a visit to the White Lady's Castle. You never know when she might come and visit.

Note: As of 2006 the City of Rochester had demolished all but the front facade of the castle and filled it in.

Legend has it that the White Lady had a daughter who disappeared at the hands of a predatory young suitor, and so the White Lady roams the lake front to this very day, searching for her missing daughter. The supposed residence of the White Lady is actually the base of a demolished hotel that was built in the 1800s. Known as the White Lady's Castle, it has become a popular tourist attraction and party site for teenagers.


On the DVD commentary, director Frank LaLoggia says that he got the idea for using the song "Did You Ever See a Dream Walking?" (which is a significant plot element in the movie) from hearing it in the Eddie Cantor movie "Roman Scandals." Actually, this song does not appear in the Cantor film, it was written for the musical "Sitting Pretty." Both "Roman Scandals" and "Sitting Pretty" were released in 1933.

Witch's Tower

Its pointed in the shape of a mage's/witch's hat. Its an old water tank. Its considered to be haunted by a technician who accidentally fell off of the tower. If you go there at midnight its said that you can see him falling off.

Recently the area has been closed down, and they only open it on Halloween to throw candy down from the tower to children in the area.

it said that the broken bridge up the road is haunted becuse quite amount of people said that, if you go there during a full moon, at midnight on a certain time of night, certain time of month...you would see twin girls standing at each end of the broken bridge, along side their coffin, saying and repeating..come and play with us...and at the bottom where the water usually flows,there would be skeletons..

We have several haunted places. One is a park in a hilly area. There are stone steps in the hill. It is well known that the number of steps changes. Every time you walk the steps, you count a different number of them. I have tried, hand never get the same count. Now part of it may be that they are uneven and there are hundreds of steps.

This town used to be a hub of criminal activity during prohibition. Many cases of liquor had seen it's way through here. Also Babe Ruth used to party here. My friend lives in one of the bars/ inn where he used to go all the time.

well a story i once heard was about bigfoot wondering the hills of new york and canada

I live in a really small town. One of our favorite past times here is to gather at the local river, mainly because it's away from the cops and pretty much eveything else. We go to a certain place that is secluded to party, fish, camp, have bonfires, just whatever.

On the other side of the river from where we hang out, there are railroad tracks. It has been told through the years that an old man lost one of his hunting dogs in the 1930's and was searching up and down the tracks for his hound. He ended up getting his foot hung and ran over by the train.

Some nights when we are down there, you can hear him, and see his lantern. It's pretty creepy.

I went on the other side by myself one night just to see if I could see him from over there. I heard him and saw a swinging light from a pretty close distance. That was enough for me!!

I ran like hell!! I'll continue to see him from our side of the river, that's just fine with me.

Well i recently moved so im not so sure about the local lore but i have heard of a few stories and tradtions, like during the halloween time people gather at a local graveyard which has been known to stir up a specific spirit at that time of year and many have said to seen it. And also a few towns away a local haunted mansion and lighthouse which are a big tourist spot i have yet to see

They say he knows where all the bodies are hidden, which is why he's NEVER beaten during an election. That's all just by word of mouth though. Can't proove it, but he is very disgruntled and creepy.

They would be ... just wrong if it turned out to be true.

If it prooved to be true, I'd move. I can't stomch someone who has so much hate. Not to mention I'm a witch, so he'd cease to be the cop he's supposed to be and not do his duty to proctect me at all.

Nothing around here,but when I was in Durango Co.there were alot of stories going around about haunted hotels and such..Found a body in the EAR,,that was creepy.

i think around here is alot of ghost, for the kids and everyone get scared around here.

Cedarville, newport- in the woods. there is a tree out in the woods of Back Rd. that is an old KKK tree. If you go out there and examine the tree you will see rope burns on one of the branches from where they used to hang people. Footsteps can be heard and if you're back there long enough, for a split second, you will see a young man being hung.

Cedarville/Fairton, the old stone church - Many strange things have been reported here such as ghostly faces on head stones. Orgasn music heared coming from the church late in the morning hour with no electrical sources going to the building.

Morristown, Jimmy's - Local nightclub haunted by female from revolutionary war era.

Mt. Hope, Mt. Hope Road - Many voices can be heard and cold winds can be felt. Figures can be seen in the meadows.

Quinton/Bridgeton, Berry's Chapel - The trye story of Berry's Chapel is, Berry was a black man hung by the KKK. The chapel was built back in the Civil war days. It burned down in the early sixties. The grace yard was starting to get descrated from local kids parting in the area, and skulls started appearing in trees by the main party spot. It was then the county moved all the bodies to the graveyard surrounding the ancient oak tree near the Salem City public library. The area is blocked off now and you can't drive back there. The Chapel was just in the paper again this wee [5-27-02] as they were again cleaning up the area from those lame people who feel they have to dump all their trash back there. What was always odd is how nothing would ever grow on Berry's grave. No grass, no weeds, no bushes, nothing.

Just a couple of the legends from Vincennes, Indiana.

Purple Head Bridge - One story is there is an old one lane toll bridge that cross the Wabash river on the outskirts (south 6th road) to saint Francesville IL. It is said that long ago it was a place where a man jumped from the bridge to hang his self. When he did his head ripped off, and was never found. If you go there on a raining night and park on the bridge and wait you WILL SEE a purple head floating toward you. The other is the bridge is supposedly a bridge they hung people off of in the 1800s, giving it its name purple head. Vincennes University legend has it that if you go out there you will hear screams from the spirits that have been hung.

Sigma Pi House - Is said to be haunted by Civil War Colonel. Doors open and close as well as strange clouds and figures appear all the time.

I partied in the Amityville house. It was way different then the movie, but there are red stains on the walls that they can't cover up. I was like 14 when I went there with my cousins. It was kinda freaky.

I live in South Wales and we have the legend that Arturis 'King Arthur', had his court around the area of Carmarthen which is around 20 miles from me. It's mentioned in my profile and journal:)

Niagara Falls, NY - Niagara University - Clet Hall - "Clet Hall has burned down multiple times, resulting in numerous deaths. The most prominent fire included the death of Thomas Hopkins. He was a priest that entered the building to save children within the burning building. Many students have claimed to see his ghost inside their dorm rooms. There is even a monument on the property that was erected in his memory that is victim to the priest’s hauntings. "

apparently, there a chair in my towns main cemetary that shows up on halloween. if you sit in it, supposedly a 'witch' will come out and do bad things to you. or...something. i'm not really sure. its just supposed to be something for really drunk highschool kids to do on the 30th.

They say that In Luthersburgh field a girl runs across the field in your headlight view at midnight. She was brutally raped and then murdered by an ex teacher at the high school that I went to. She really did die, but the school was so eager to cover it up that there isn't even so much as a plaque for her or anything.

Here in TX it's not old enough to get the haunt.. .we just get the new visitors from outer space... LOL

NAH... I don't fall into that stuff, for one thing I have watched too many science documentary shows to know that if there is intelligent life out there they wouldn't be comming here because than they wouldn't be concidered intelligent because they would be going backwards if they are so surpassed in technology. Also TX has as many military bases as they do country western bars.

I never really hear about haunted places here. I live in such a small town. People here don't like to talk about much of anything but church.

We've got a lot of abandoned structures though.

I can tell you a funny story though... when I bought my little house I moved in and I was unpacking... it's about 3 blocks from bell helicopter .. at 3am a fell asleep on my couch, the next thing I knew was it sounded like there was a war going off outside, this woop-woop and than the bright lights, my windows and house was shaking ... someone not of their right mind would have thought it was a UFO...

Bell test flys their military helicopters at night and it was so dark out that maybe the pilot didn't realize he went over the residential area instead of the usual area.

It doesn't happen often... but they can't let people know or announce what they do because of the competition and they are doing test flights of new aircraft for the military. My thing is people need to use common sense!! If you live near a base figure it out...

Wow... back home in Nebraska City, NE we have what used to be 7 hills.

The thing with them is that there are only 4 really left over, supposedly a man hung his sisters... one on each hill. All seven are supposed to be haunted with their spirits. Cars randomly shut down all the time up there, and you can hear screaming.
