Greetings,
I'd like to hear myth, legend and personal theories of both a magickal, spiritual and physical (parasite/host,) nature...
Thanks.
Akri
Depends on what you are basing these on? Throw us a bone here.
Okay... say for example a deity lending a devout believer it's strength... or restless spirits taking the bodies of weak-willed persons...
I think what's being asked is for myths, stories, ect. on possession...?
Simply put, our opinion on the fundamentals of possession as a whole?
A few years back a friend of mine was possessed for a night. It was pretty intense. The weather was crazy to boot.
Indeed... just a generalised(it's okay without the 'z' I'm British,) discussion on forms of possession, examples of it, etc
Well some might not be just demons taking over peoples bodies, I think "angels" lets say could and have done the same.
As well as certain individuals in a certain religion, all whoopin and a hollerin, like the goodness within them just wants to run a muck or whathaveyou.
I believe it was because of the angel thing. Kind of funny really.
I think that the witnesses are possessed. Just plain wierd.
Alright alright, enough name calling with the religions, the dominars will have a fit.
~laughs some~ but I see what you say, some would say "the holy spirit" was in them. Is that the same as a demon taking over?
I guess it would depend on the perspective or point to view.
As with most cases of possession, they are siezure scenerios. Which would probably give an individual the idea of a daemon taking over them.
Loosely, this type would be of zionist fashion to prove some kind of point do to their religious ideals of what ever religion or god they choose to believe.
Good points good points, but in some if that person has what i like to call a freak out " " and for told something.
Would that still be a possession?
Even if they said they "saw" the thing that had them?
Some fanatics believe that others are possessed because of their actions. If you don't follow your path strictly then possession is a sort of punishment.
A few I know that still try to get me to see my ways are wrong.
I have a few aqquaintances that believe I am or was possessed, but now they just know that I'm wierd.
My step family though at one time i was possessed by the devil him self, and lets just say... I don't talk to alot of them after what I did.
Here's an example of possession.
In the latter part of the 19th century, during the heyday of Spiritualism, the case of the 'spiritual possession' of Lurancy Vennum attracted a great deal of publicity. Lurancy was a young girl from Illinois who claimed to be a reincarnation of another teenager called Mary Roff, who had died 15 years earlier. Through the spirit of Mary she claimed that she was able to recall in detail a past life with the Roff family and their friends, leading many to believe she was indeed, spiritually at least, Mary Roff.
To read more on this one.

Thats a good read, but is she possessed or was she a reincarnation?
A human being that is possessed by a spirit or some otherworldly creature is a phenomenon found in a myriad of cultures and religions. Jewish folklore calls the spirit that causes this rare but remarkable occurrence a "dybbuk."
A dybbuk (pronounced "dih-buk") is the term for a wandering soul that attaches itself to a living person and controls that person's behavior to accomplish a task. The word "dybbuk" is the Hebrew word for "cleaving" or "clinging," and surprisingly, having a dybbuk is not always a bad thing for the human host. However, sometimes having a dybbuk is a very bad thing.
A story of possession from an EMT in Ashland, Kentucky.
"One night at work me and my partner who work on an ambulance were sent to pick up a patient and transport him home from the hospital. When we arrived in the hospital ER, we found a 50 year-old man alert and oriented. We place him on our cot, and pushed him out of his room. He then placed the sheets over his head. I asked him what was wrong and he said the light bothered him. We placed the man in the back of the ambulance where I sat in the back, and I got his vitals. My partner drove up front. I turned off the lights in back upon request of the patient. Then the patient appeared to go to sleep. After about five minutes, the patient jerked up to a sitting position and screamed/growled a blood curdling scream, it was frightening because it was in about 12 different voices at once: children, men, women, beasts, all screaming at once, then the patient after about 10 seconds fell back and started convulsing, shaking, and twitching violently. I told my partner to hit the sirens and head to the nearest hospital. The whole time the patient shook violently until we arrived in front of the hospital where he stopped and laid motionless, which is common after seizures, a postictal state occurs after using so much energy -- it may be important to mention we were at a Catholic hospital.
We took the patient in the ER and transferred him to a bed. I then talked to the doctor on duty. The patient was speaking to the nurses and I went to get him to sign a form. I asked him if he was all right, he said, "Yes." Then I asked if he was able to sign, his reply was the same. I gave him the pen and held out my clipboard. His eyes went blank, and he quit talking. I looked down and his hands were just going in circles, so I just left him. When I got out to the ambulance, I looked at the paper I asked him to sign but instead of a name there was a number written all the way across the page: 66666666666666666666666666666666. My partner came out and asked me if I heard the scream, I said, "Yes. Why?" He said because it sounded like several people yelling at once. I told him I heard the same."

o.o They scare me more then morons do
I was asking, morons or mormons :p
I think either way, moron or Mormon, one posessed would be scarey as hell. I'd hate to see a posessed Mormon knock on my door.. oh wait, those are Jehovahs witnesses. Ok.. I give up and i'm shutting up now, i'm obviously braindead.
there has been so many account of possession. Do you guys think that possession can occur to anyone? Or do you have to be a specific chosen person?
Chosen yes but as we talked before some will be chosen more offen then others
I need to add more to my last post.
Most are chosen threw weaknest such in sickness or spirt.
also if you strongly beleve in god .
It can also be that you are in the wrong place at the right time for them.
I believe you cant just be a random person walking down the street so I completely agree with you.
Well there is the story of the Wendigo who appears during the blood moon and you can hear his approach by the whistling sound he makes. It is said that he can't take human form but will posses a person who is lost in the woods and alone they will then appear to go insane and will eat the flesh of other humans especially that of children.
everyones probably read the book or if not atleast seen the movie..... the exorcisim of emily rose . a true story. sure it showed the spiritual aspect on how it had to be a demon that was possessing her . but in turn it also covered the scientific and medical field as too what else it could possibly be that was causeing the symptoms and makeing her do the things she does. demons feed off the week and the ones who have the most negativity in there lives or just have stress. is posseion truely real . books and media and people will say so .... but like in the book i have memtions there are alot of medical explinations that it could be too.....
I forgot about the scientific meaning behind it too. very very good point
I think it can not just "happen" to a normal person, I think you have to be like in tune with that side, or have the 3hd eye.
For the fact you must be able to fill them there, if you can't fill them hear there call, then you wont go looking for them.
i agree with that concept, that you have to be special to have something that far outside your realm affect you in such a way. its makes alot of sence
there are many types and level of possession. I dont think you are being very specific
Aren't Mediums conduits for spirits, as in the spirits posess them and speak through the medium? I would not consider them weak-willed at all. It would take quite a bit of bravery to allow something to enter your body.
You right dear, I didn't think of that, but is that a real full "I'm not letting you go" Possession? would that be classed as one?
I was commenting on the thread-opener saying "or restless spirits taking the bodies of weak-willed persons..."
TAKING on the bodies, I can understand that. It would probably posess someone who was too weak-willed to fight back.
