What does judgement day mean to you? people have said to me that vampirisim wicca and all other beliefs that are not in the bible are an abomination
i think that we are who we are.. I believe there is a higher power and it, he,she cares not on what we claim to be. what is your opinion?
I see this as two separate issues.
Are you asking what we as individuals believe Judgement Day is?
Or are you asking our views of Judgement Day towards those who practice faiths and traditions outside of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam?
There have always been doomsday things and the judgment day from Biblical sources was meant to happen in their time and each generation thinks it will be coming soon. We thought that in the cold war era and when the new millenium came and now it is 2012. No one knows and I cannot guess. I would say when our sun burns out.
Sounds like you have been hit by Crusaders For Christ. I suggest reading "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkin.
I feel we all judge each other and thus makes are religions fight
And ppl hate
Judgement day is the day we are put before the higher power to atone for our sins. If you are catholic or christian, I believe this is what judgement day is!
It's the time for all to so there "true colors". I believe the higher power looks to the heart not what religion you say you are. For actions speak louder that words.
Some believe judgement day is the last day of earth ,when all is decided. either heaven or hell for your soul. Others believe is a day (time) to reawaken our souls and live a better/hight self for all on earth.
To mu understanding , in the structured belief we are judged for what we have done on this plane.
In the non-structured, we are recarnated and have to come back and redo it all over again until we get it right.
The problem judgement day is that it is essentially a christian idea, I'm probably wrong, I am not too familiar with all forms of religion. But assuming that their is one all powerful God, why would he/she create the universe simply to say one day" Ok, all this effort and time was a waste, time to judge man.
And since I don't see the bible as proof of anything, I don't think that wiccans or anyone else is an abonination. Simply another way for those to shove their religious views on others.
Judgement day I believe is when we are put before the Higher power we believe in to answer for the things we have done in our life
December 21, 2012...the internet will fail and we'll all be like babies without a momma.
I believe judgement day is the day I will be judge by higher ops. I consider all humans as equal and will not bow to another equal to me. Surprisingly many will relate to religious belief or religion to explain their view of that day. I consider that religion has judged enough I do not want it to judge me on that day when I lay myself for the last time.
I consider judgement day to be when others will chose who I was and if they agree or disagree with that judgement.
I believe that once the full ramifications of our thoughts, words and deeds are made clear to us, we judge oursleves.
I highly doubt that there will be a judgment day. I think that, if there is a god, he will look down on earth and become so disgusted with humanities activities over the past few thousand years that he (or she, it, whatever) will wash his hands of humanity and let us destroy ourselves.
Every major religion and culture has a belief on how the world will end, and what will happen afterwards.
Christians believe that when the end comes.... all worthy souls will be admited into Heaven, while the rest will either go into Purgatory or Hell....
the Mayans believed the End will come on the Winter Solstice of the year 2012, and the world will begin again....
the Nordic culture believes that the forces of Good and Evil will fight in a final battle called, "Ragnarok".....
but when you get right down to it....
No one really knows what will happen, when Humanity comes to it's end.....
Will it be with a bang.....
or with just a whimper....
only time will tell.
I myself have heard about 3 times in the past 3 decades how a certain day during that time period is to be the last day of man...well as we can see..it hasn't happened yet. I guess I will know what Judgement day is when it arrives.
judgement day ill just be a day of wreckoning i suppose, maybe it will put order in the world of chaos that we thrive so mucch in
Judgement Day basically i feel is when you have passed on and your life your good and bad deeds are judged by the supreme being.
Each person's belief and/or religions might differ on who that supreme being is and that is each of our rights.
Not everyone has to practice the same beliefs.
Personally, I think everyone was given free will to make their own decision about everything including what beliefs they have. I think that as long as you truly believe in God, gods, or whatever, you will be alright. Its the people who haven't made up their minds and are just riding along without making a decision that may be in trouble.
No matter what "judgment" day holds in store, I can't wait to find out what will really happen. Are we all gonna burn in Hell because we made the wrong choice? Or is all the religion stuff just bull? If there really is a judgment day it will be very interesting to see if you ask me.
I am a wiccan raised catholic, and personaly i dought judgment day will come to pass. no matter what religon you are, you are equile
I think Sinora is right on this, we judge ourselves.
I will add we judge ourselves on our own views of when and how the judgement day will be, therefore causing us to be the source of our own judgement day and death.
logical.
My belief on judgement day is when the human race has to stand up and be counted as one when something is out to destory her. Whether that is by an alien force, mankinds tampering with nature or nature itself.
I dont belive there is anything call judgementday. The day i pass on it is just end of this life. Whatever happen after if it is just beginning of a new life thru reincarnation or forever rest as ach or whatever it is , so do i think we thinking far to much over what will happen when we die so we judge ourself in the end.
In the case of judging ourselves and judging others, then judgement day is everyday.... would anyone agree with that
This site has a bunch of theories about when the end of the world is supposed to be. We all know that upon the end is the supposed judgement:

I, for one, can not and will not believe in a higher being that watches over and, in some ways, controls some aspects of my life. That's a no-go there, Honey. However, some of my best friends are some of the most religious people you will ever meet. They know my beliefs and they don't hate me for it. They accept anyway. Sometimes they tell me I'm confused or that one day I might see it their way. A couple have told me I'm probably going to hell but they love me anyway. lol.. I tell them the same thing that I tell everyone else...
I live my life the way that I see fit. All I CAN do is live the way I think is best and do right by others while I'm at it. And if there is a judgement day, the only thing they'll find wrong with me is that I didn't believe. If that lands me a spot in Hell, then so be it. At least I did nothing wrong and have no regrets. At least I lived my life to the best of my abilities and helped out everyone that I could. =^_^=
I think our goal on earth is to judge each other.. And see how long we last this way..

Kind of a messed up goal though, isn't it? I may not believe in too much but I certainly don't believe that. lol. .No offense....
sbetee
That could be true
I think that may be a part of our purpose here. The Christian Bible says that God created humans to have someone to talk to and have companionship with.
He made it so we can reproduce allowing him to have many companions. So I believe our main and absolutely most important part of being here on Earth and having existence is to reproduce. We are a Virus!!!! And some are Trojans, and some are worms, some are even puny little bugs that don't do much but can cause damage. My opinion.
I don't believe we were put here to judge others personally although that is what most of the human race does. I don't think it is our place to judge others in how the believe or how they live.
I say to each their own and I respect them for what they believe in and what makes them different. That is what makes us all individuals.
i don't think judgement day will be at all what it is made out to be i think if anything it could just be a change over time that gradually takes place..not instantly
judgement day means to me that we are judged by our actions here are earth. In my mind i dont think it has anything to do about how much we worship, just what we learned, how we acted toward other men. Just cant see this all mighty god condemning a 13 yr old for there action or for not being religious lol. as they are just learning who and what they are.
In a biblical sense Judgement day is when we stand before a higher power to be judged for the sins that we have commited .
There just lacks that proof for Me that there is a higher power. If there is a judgement day and god is real, then i'll just make preparations for My journey across the river STYX.
I think when judgment day comes it shall weed out the chaos and unneeded things.. Maybe just maybe we will be in charge of our own judgment.. Hard to explain what i mean really.
I believe when judgement day comes we will be all judged on our hearts and depending on what knowledge we were given, what we did with that knowledge!
I feel we are already in judgement day we all judge each other
And we are killing are selves
UVG, can you explain a littel more for those of us who are bald?
It's the day [IMO] after someone dies that their soul is judged and sent to either Heaven or Hell [in some beliefs].
No, I don't think it's that whole world will end blah blah blah shit.
I personally think that for those who say that everyone that doesn't belive a certain thing you will be killed or so on. There are going to be a lot of people dying..
well first yes according to the Bible other faith is abomination if not in the eyes of the Lord.
I feel any faith is fine, I mean it all boils down to that very word *FAITH* to have it abd to believe in something higher than yourself. so to me all religions should be respected and I do not feel they are an abomination and I was raised southern baptist / penecolstal... yet I was also taught the way of Wiccan My mom was Amer.Indian, and felt we should know all religions and have faith in what we wanted to. :)
As for Judgement day it is according to the bible the end and where we are judged for our works here on earth.... yet I do not feel it will be the end.. just being judged by a higher bieng is all.
I don't believe that there will ever be a judgement day, if there ever was to be one don't you think it would have happened already?
Well I am not surprised that it has yet to happen, I mean we have not been here that long nor have we yet to do enough damage or even good yet to be judged for our works.. just my opinion ....
Judgement day is the belief in some that all will anwser for the sins and the final days of earth and mortal life. when earth will rid the disease of itself that is us and either die too or be reborn into new life. A call that all have been forseeing since the days of man. That some say god will return or the thought from science is that all life may end in oblivian.
Judgement day to me simply means the time at which you are held accountable for all your past sins, sort of a tallying up to see if you are honorable enough to enter the gates of heaven....
People that speak in the name of the Bible are the abomination, this coming from a Pastor :)
Judgment day has many meanings for many people. For some it is simply getting whats coming to ya or having to pay for a crime.
I think that there are several layers of judgment days but in the end there will be a total end. What, exactly, that end is I don't know.
I don't even want a clue to that mystery, yet alone some yahoo, that claims to have it on some higher authority.
One wonders what the significants is to claiming such things.. I mean are they hoping to somehow say.. I told you so?, what could one possibly change, even with advanced notice? Always seemed like a promotional idea to me.
and dabbler on your point do you think at the judgement day when all may have ended that when we stand before the higher ups "sorry" i donot think will cut it. for if it is like revelations when the dead will walk and all others will be taken. where another planet. different time.
They really want to rub our faces in it then, they want to stall with a process to the end time.. if it was just over and get in line, that would be easily dismissed, they want the spectacular scenerio, where they can see the non-believers get theirs. Sadistic if it was done with any thing other then religion.
Although there possibly could be some truth to the bibical prophecy of an end time, I, personally, don't feel as though there will be an omipotent being judging our actions, choices, and so forth, and condemning us to a heaven or a hell.
I do believe, however, that there are consequences to the way we live our lives in the afterlife, just not in a bibical sense. I don't feel that sexual orientation, religion choices, and so on affect any of this - it is more a matter of living a life well, trying to do the best that we can, and always striving for growth, and knowledge. Leading a good life, basically.
I lean more towards the idea of reincarnation, and different states or levels of being in the afterlife, if we are allowed to pass on. If we do not learn as we should, love as we can, try as hard as possible, then that is where reincarnation comes in.
We all will find out one day, that is the most certain that I am on this topic. :)
i cant answer this with a perfect answer but then again who can.....J-day is a day that i dont care to think about....i dont fear it.....and i dont fear my death.....i say this and i mean it....i have been prepared for my death for years yet it hasnt come......so i wonder.....what beleif i should have......i dont know but i will when i see whats on the other side......
I don't think that "God" will bring Judgment day. I think that humans will one day bring their own destruction.
Sourced from -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_Judgment
In Christian eschatology, the Last Judgment or Day of the Lord is the judgment by God of every human who ever lived. It will take place after the resurrection of the dead and the Second Coming (Revelation 20:12–15).
I was raised a Roman Catholic.
My own belief - Humanity will destroy itself, is more likely.
I am with the last couple posts, I am catholic, yet i think mortals will kill this world before any second coming happens.
I belive that if there is a higher power it does not matter if you are a witch vampire or rock. we will all be judged on what evil we did just for the sake of being evil.
HELL HERE I COME!! lol
Dabbler- Sin is relative to the knowledge of the "sinner" and a few other things.
It's only sin if you know what you're doing is wrong. For example I know killing someone is wrong thus a sin. I don't know being gay is a sin so it's not. People may say it is but unless I have the conviction that it is then it isn't.
Hope that was clear enough :)
right, an infraction in some circles, is an unpardonable sin to others, if you are held to their standard you have no case. get caught smuggling opium in a Taliban nation and it will become boldly obvious, the grievious situation you are in.
Judgement day is when the higher powers take a look at what we have done and decide if our sins can be forgiven. And then it is decided if we go to heaven or hell
I was raised christian, but am now a buddhist. The church itself crushed my belief in a merciful and loving god, by using his name to extort money and justify what I believed to be abominations. However, some of my beliefs are pretty hard to keep down, so some observations.
The bible, while very old, is not necessarily the most accurate of historical documents. God did not write it, the authors kindly left their names at the head of each chapter. It is a record of stories and recollections. Revelations was actually a bad dream the prophet Daniel had. If I were to have my dreams believed as gospel, trees would be made out of chocolate and have zero calories in them.
I am blessed to know some amazing christians. They live their lives according to the parts of the bible that really make sense, and do not do so because they are motivated by any kind of reward on a 'judgement day'. They do so because they truly love people. I see the same with other people from other religions the world over. It is that quality that should be taken into account and not the beliefs of the person holding it. If I view god through the eyes of such people, I really don't have any fear of judgement. Their god would not allow it.
To sum up a long and groggy ramble (I just woke) don't sweat it, just be as decent a person as you can be, believe what you think is the right thing to believe, and trust that if there is an ultimate judgement, it is your heart that will be judged and not your beliefs.
I think you are judged if you want to call it that by who you are and what you do. I do think that we are all judged in some way. I think be have to atone for what we do on earth. If we kill people and never get caught than the higher power has to deal with our punishment. I don't think you ever get away with doing anything bad sooner or later you pay and get paid back for the good and bad you bring into the world.
Irony- I think you summed it up pretty well actually :) btw sorry for your bad experiences with some of the "fake" Christians.
Dabbler and xzavier If i understand this you are saying sin is ditated by societies belief in one system, and not doing this it is deemed a sin. i do believe in that yet some sins like murder, rape go against all of the cultures in society and do you think at some point these sins will come to be judge if a higher power or within the realms of society. I do believ this world at some time will evolve, judgement day maybe a new beginning for this planet or the destruction of it. History has shown some evedince of forces changing the planet.
Actually I'm saying most things that one might think of as a "sin" is determined by the individual.
Without conviction of heart there is no need for forgiveness. Only God brings conviction, so if you do something (and you're not some psychopath) that would ordinarily be thought of as a sin (like being gay or studying a dark art) and your heart is open to the will of God and you honestly never get that feeling that you did something wrong then you haven't sinned.
No problem.
It doesn't mean of course that we can just run around and do whatever we want. It's easy to trick ourselves into thinking we don't feel guilt etc. Which is why we must always work to better ourselves and keep our hearts open to God.
But it does let you know that just because some guy in a big hat said one Sunday that your going to hell for wearing black "for the Bible tells him so" is full of crap.
Thats why I stress people to read for themselves with an opened and (as much as possible) unbiased mind.
Back to the thread, Judgment Day is coming but it may not be for those whom you think lol.
Irony got my vote.. One would think that if a person stands out because of their sin, then that will bring judgment here and now.. I mean I judge a murder as do most. Discernment is also needed in determining what is to be judged, a person killing in self-defense.. as opposed to other motive.
Judgement day is a way to scare young children to be good. But if it is not I feel it will only be a judgement for the evil
We are constantly being judged, but what you said is unclear. Are you referring to the doomsday that is in the bible, Armageddon?
I think we should judge our self.. I mean really who is vain enough to really think they have the right to judge me or anybody..
good point on judge one self, for yet all factions of socity judge one another, we see it everyday. Yet judgement day is a time for change, no judging just intervention on parts.
There is judgment in religion, even in their own ranks, they create splinter groups because of this, so the criteria seems to change, just like the interpitation of their text. So I doubt that even the Christians and other End Time Phrophet based religions know what standard they are being held to.. On That Day!!!
I don`t believe that judgement day will ever happen in a religious sense. God will not sent some to hell and some to heaven. The final judgement will be pased by each individual onto themselves. the final judgement is dying knowing if you were a good person or a bad person.
One man's trash is another's treasure.
Don't let someone else's dogma get in the way of your looking-glass self.
To some, wiccans are wrong, to others catholics are wrong. It all depends on how you look at things.
Judgement Day is what is alleged to come about before the end of days. To take back the worthy of being saved, and save them.
true that irony. if bad dreams were gospel this whole world would be screwed. oh wait it is because dreams are gospel according to your claim.
If there really is someone up in the sky watching us at all times, then I would like to think that it is non judgmental. What is right and what is wrong? How much of the bible is actually true? Man and women are supposed to be created equal right? So why can man not marry man and women women? Why can people not make their own choices and have only themselves to blame, why should there be a judgment day? I think it is a hoax, something made up by the bible thumpers to scare those who do not believe.
Very well put Profane.
But I must ask do you think there is any group of people who isn't 'trash' to all other groups?
Growing up I was told to be aware for judgment day. the day that the son of god would return to earth from heaven and lead those who have followed the path to heaven and those that chose not to follow the path...
I judge myself and my deeds by the standard of who I am and who I want to be.
To me, judgement day is when my being will be judged of its crimes and its achievements. This will decide my place, my rebirth and where my soul will travel too. If i have led a life of bad my soul will forever be damned here but if I have led an honest and wonderful life than my soul will travel to paradise. Judgement day (to me) is when every soul is judged for who they really are by an all powerful force.
I feel that there will be only one judgement day and we will all know when that happens (Kinda anyway) as we will all die.
Kayyy well I believe in God and practice christianity.... anyway... Judgement day to the people that practice christianity is when we die and go up to Heaven and see if we're going to heaven or hell.
Well I believe that judgement day is the day that all will stand before God and then will be judged on all of our actions during life and then we go into heaven or hell...
But what about for those who are new born or die during the birth process? They can't very well be judged.

Very true, Distortion.... Do you think that maybe they get recycled? My sister is Christian and she seems to think that they just go to heaven straight away. Other friends of mine say that they go straight to hell because they believe that all humans are evil at birth and have to prove themselves otherwise through the lives they live.... So yea, way different views on it here. lol
I'm a Christian, and I believe that judgment day is when God will finally stop all the people who shove Jesus down people's throats. Judgment for the judges. Hooray.
I also believe that judgment day will finally put an end to religion, the way it's meant to be.
Distortion - All babies who are born during the process will auto-matically go to heaven because they haven't sinned.
Well that's what it says in my religion (I think) so yea...
all I can say is with me life hasnt been easy for me I just hope that when judgement day comes for me I go to heaven
I agree with Beltrands comments that everyone personal Judgment day is at the end of their life. Worried about the end of the world??? I don't think it's insight. But if I live to see it and it is as said in the bible, I won't disappear with all the really good people. I believe in a higher power, and I will stay and fight in his/her army!
AOPE -
I believe that babies who die at birth or die at all get reincarnated. I think it's the same for young children who've barely experienced life.
I believe that judgment day is when you die
but I have come to believe that god is men and wimen are goddesses because we are all part of the cosmic vibrations or the universal conscience aka god, so all in all I am you you are me when you die you return to the source and if you have fucked it up BIG TIME you are not worthy to take another ride in human form and then become or manifest into a rock, animal or whatever just like when we recycle things to use them again if its perfect no changes needed if its defect you make it into something new after all we and everything is made of the same ..particles, atoms everything is one .
as to heaven and hell well life is what you make it so heaven and hell is earth and its up to us to make it into a heaven but we fail big time atm.
All we can be is the best we can be and wait to see what happens
A few good points made, one being the inner faith variations on judgement and its full spectrum, usually the more devoted get better considerations then the casual believers.
well i really can't say i have my own ideas as wicca and i think everyone has a right to the own thought on the matter
Judgement Day is a Christian thing and honestly, there's enough judgement going around as it is. Judge not others unless ye be judged. Does that mean we can judge this God as well? Personally i think it's just a way to "correct" the masses from wrong doings. To put some kind of "fear" into them. Fear works on a lot of people but not for everyone. I would rather think that if there really was a one God...he's not the fear me, temper tantrum, worship me entity that it's so praised to be.
EmoDemon- I'm in agreement with that. If someone does not know right from wrong, then they can't sin. Babies, children, and I think mentally retarded people, as well...They're automatically saved because they're pure.
i believe that we will be judged by this higher power by what we do on earth. I dont believe a higher power would condemn everyone that has a different religion then what was first started. The bible is there but books of it are missing and it isnt complete. I am wiccan and i know i dont know everything about my religion either. What i do know is i am spirtual and that i am a good person and that is what i think we will be judged on. If not i guess i will be abolished.
Judgment Day in my mind is about all these theories that the world is going to end in 2011 and blah blah.
Personally we are all different and there is no perfect person that created this world and how we came to be is really a mystery, was it evolution and such.
Isn't it just a day where everyone is judged on the acts that they have comitted in life?
Judgment day, to me, is the day that you die. There, it is decided what you will become in your next life. You see...I believe in Reincarnation, and Karma. If you led a good life, then Karma will be good and you will become something you always wanted to be. However, if you led a life of crime, then you will become something you loathe more than anything else, some creature you despise.
