Simply put, Nostradamus's claims can be translated to say pretty well what people choose them to say.
As for the Mayans.. the first people to rresord astronauts.. them, I tend to have some sort of 'faith' in.
I put little thought into the "end of days" since I'm sure it will be something I have no control over. But I do agree that the interpetation of the predictions is where the answers always seem to lay. Since a child I have heard people claiming that current events are along the lines with what the Bible predicts will be the end of time. Yet 20 years later a new thing will be the sign since the other one failed to deliver.
The Mayans I believe set their calandar up to run so far into the future as to not be a worry for them to continue their work until sometime much later on. We know that later just never came for them.
Everyone has their own thoughts, opinions, and ideas on prophecies.Yet if someone disagrees with what others think...they get bashed.Also...anyone can make prophecies and claim what they say is true.If you really believe that what these prophecies say...that is your right but it doesn't mean it is fact.in MY opinion...NO ONE can see the future or know what is going to happen before it does. The future isn't set ins tone...everyone makes choices in what they do.BUT...if and that is a BIG if...if someone believes in something enough...they can change how things are done until they make the choices that set forth what the prophecies or so called predictions.I do not believe in prophecies or any of the things that are predicted.
ahhh, sad. no belief. I see 'things' so try not to disbelief, just search, not dismiss.
But, that said, a theory is just that.. unless..
..and, so far, the only acknowledge 'author' of accuate predictions, was the fellow who painted the twins towers going down, with a picture that was dated beforehand.
hard to say. they tend to be sorta vague predictions that are only specific about things that can be taken any number of ways. i dont know, its just my opinion.
some thing have come true....but that probablt because we knew what the prediction was so we subconsciencely made decisions that lead to the problem
if we didnt know the prediction than we most likely wouldnt have made sub decisions to that route
Predictions are hard to understand and can really only be seen clearly after the fact. Nostradamus was an extraordianry man, but his work is too vague and true interpretation impossible to understand. If you go by Nostradamus he saw 2 futures one filled with peace and one filled with destruction.
There are more than Nostradamus and the Mayan predictions, there is also The Hopi American Indians, Mother Shipton, Agharti and many more here is a link to a web page that details all these predictions and more:
Predictions and Prophecies Index
In conclusion, there have been centuries of predictions of the end of the world. But could the end of the world simply mean a sweeping social change. Like a planet of people tired of war and constant fighting over who's god is better, or who has the most riches. Maybe this end of the world would simply mean people stand up for themselves and say enough is enough! That is the kind of 'end of world' prophecy I would enjoy!
My thoughts are that the earth has been here for well over two million years. People have populated the earth almost as long. I don't really understand all the predicition but isn't it like going to a psychic for a future reading. to hear about your future is to know that you have the ability to change it.
Anything that is said to be a "prophecy" written in another language can be translated into whatever you want it to say.Much like the people that say they see Jesus in a piece of toast....you "see" what you want to see...doesn't mean it is there.
The biggest problem with prophecies is that they always seem to be interpreted correctly AFTER the event. Not only does this allow people to read into those prophecies whatever they desire, but more importantly, it makes the prophecy itself rather useless. Would it matter if anyone predicted 9/11? It still happened. Hitler? Same thing. There's no reason to believe them and even if you do there's nothing to be gained from them because no one averts the prediction anyway.
I agree with you 100%...they are preceived to be true...AFTER the event has happened.Much like one prophecy was determined to be about Hitler...because the word Hister was used...if it was about Hitler...why not say Hitler instead.Or the one about the two brothers falling in the new world in the new city...later turned out to be a hoax.
But what about the Mayan Calendar?
Their calendar was never wrong with regards to astrological events - so what say you about that?
Will the poles shift on 12/21/2012 or what?
Even if it had said Hitler, would it really have stopped his rise to power? Probably not. They would merely have been able to point to it after and said..."wow he was good at this prediction stuff...we really should have seen that coming". It's just even more infuriating in the sense that predictions and psychics are so vague as to provide no actionable intelligence. Real or not, they need to work on that whole clarity thing more :P
anything is possible...IF you believe what is said about the calender...because it was decyphered to say the end is on that day.
The Mayan Calendar is interesting mostly because they had such an astute knowledge of math and astronomy. They understood the age of the planet and had already 'recorded' earlier 'ends of the world' which meant more of a geological upheaval of some kind. Earlier global destructions included water and earth which if we look into our planets history, apparently did happen and at least in some way, happened during the times they had said it did with the last being a near global flood about 10000 to 15000 years ago or so.
Their last prediction for this 'end of the world' was however different in that it was said to be fire and said to be the last one that would completely end their world. Whether or not that means all of human kind or whether they were a little late in prediction their own culture's demise...I guess we'll find out in a few years.

Why even worry about some old prophecy? I say live the lives we have now and not worry about what may come. All it does is stress you out and make things harder than they should be. *shrugs* I, personally, don't care what's going to happen to me because even if I die tomorrow, I've lived my life so far as best as I can and I have no regrets about what I've done. I'm happy and I'll die that way. End of story....
I dont think much about the 'end of days' we as a culture has seen and heard all these staories about the earth and mankind coming to an end. We have advanced enough that we are now starting to or trying to remidy the things we have stuffed up. We have the technolodgy to find and build things to defend us, fix things we have broken and live life bettering ourselves and the world. We do have a long way to go but I do believe we will get there. I think the only thing that will hold us back and be a never ending danger to our species is the way our population keeps booming. Perhaps in the near future we will be living on the likes of the moon and other plants just so the end of days want come.
I like the idea of prophecies it gives us a lot of ideas to play with even if they are right or wrong it is the way we see things.
i belive in them, i mean look at the signs, faling economy, a way we will never win, and the leading destruction of our youth.
Like most other myths, there are those who believe them and those who don't. Those who believe them almost always seem to utilize some form of confirmation bias coupled with denial of certain pertinent aspects. Those who disbelieve them usually cite confirmable evidence. I tend to run with confirmable evidence which shows these prophecies, much like other prophecies, to be hopeful imagination on the part of those who believe.
Such superstitions can survive for incredibly long periods of time. But eventually, the majority of superstitions and myths are shown to be little else, and generations beyond, those who held out belief are thought of as less than enlightened.
I believe a lot of the Prophecies come true because someone sees or hears it and then makes it happen.
the end has been predicted since recorded history. people will all believe what htey want bout how. thing is geological events and astrological fact say its comin . maybe not it my time but i think my grand kids will see this planet wiped clean. only question is natural or man made cause. to this point man's winning the race
At some stage the end of earth will come. Dont think it will be the end of time as the Prophcies predict. I think by the time the human race has over populated the earth we will be able to lie on other planets. I believe that we have grown fearfull of the prophecies of the end of the earth and are now trying to fix the mess we as a race have caused to the planet. I think we still have a long way to go in terms of nucelar holocaust though.
There are all different ways that the world is suppose to come to an end. A great ice age, holocust, over population and war just to name a few. I tend to agree about the population we now have the means to move people off the plant if it gets over populated we now just need to learn to live off another plant. All the nations are fearfull of a full scale war and the use of nucular weapons so hopefully these will not happen.
Yes very well spoken except in a couple of ways. There are always rogue elements that can and would use weapons against everyone not fearing the end result. It has now been discovered that the weather we are experiencing has happened in the pass and has been documented. We have the technology to build space station and fly through outa space so I am sure we could be able to build colonies on other planets if we need.
I think that anyone can say something is going to happen in the future. It has been noted that all throughout history that someone or culture has made a prediction on the future. Some have come to happen yet others have not. I dont think we can live in fear of this instead use these to our advantage and work to ensure that the end of days will not happen.
Science predicts the end of the Earth as we know it. Most of the predictions here seem to be more the end of human life on Earth. We could wipe out human life today or tomorrow (probably the best thing for the planet), and the Earth would continue without us. It was hear for billions of years before man and will likely be here billions of years after man is gone.
Our sun has enough hydrogen to continue fusion for perhaps another 5 billion years. Long before that -- approximately 2.8 billion years from now, our galaxy (the Milky Way), will likely collide with the Andromeda Galaxy. This may be largely uneventful for our solar system or it may spell the end of our tiny section of the universe. Chances are, man will have long since been gone.
NEOs (or Near Earth Objects), are the most likely scenario for a contemporary end of the Earth. An object 6 to 10 kilometers in diameter would likely be sufficient to wipe out all life on Earth. One three to four times that size might shatter the planet.
Prophecies tend to rely upon those insistent on believing them to gain their credibility. More often than not, they're worded in an extremely vague manner and it's left up to people to attempt to match events, after they have occurred, to prophecies prior to the events. Given enough time and latitude, most any prophecy might be seen, at least by some, as having been true. But those who look to prophecies as a window to the future tend to operate on a principle of attempting to find matches, even when distortions are required, and of ignoring prophecies which never seem to align with any actual event. It's confirmation-bias of the highest order.
I'm sure you have all read the 2012 predictions already. I think it's like this. The bible's predictions have been wrong so far. Not all of Nostadamus's predictions were correct either. You never know. Truth is, no one knows when the world is going to end and no one will ever know either. Only time will tell. We will know the moment it happens.
I wanna know why we would wanna know?? To wait for our doom?? I dont wanna know..
we are the masters of our own destinies
but thats not to say there is some parts in our lives that HAVE to happen in a certain way
im sure the world is not going to end
unless WE make it end
and the mayans didnt predict the END of all
they just said that maybe something was going to happen
now for all we know it could be aliens visiting us and waging war on us
or it could be just a fake lol
I am not saying that these people did not have some special gift or abilty to "predict" or forsee forthcoming events. Unfortunately, most of these prophecies, and the people referenced within, were only understood, verified and proven after the event occurred. Plus, many of the prophecies were written so that there could be more than one possible interpretation.
As for the Mayan Calender and the prediction of the 2012 theory, here is an article that explains about misconceptions and misinterpretations of the Mayan Calender when it comes to 2012 and the "End of the World".
"Other people write about prophecy in the name of the Maya. They say that the world will end in December 2012. The Mayan elders are angry with this. The world will not end. It will be transformed. The indigenous have the calendars, and know how to accurately interpret it, not others."

The World Won't End in 2012
What really is a "correct prediction"? If someone gives specific details of a specific event on a specific date, I can see where it could be called a prediction and if it happens on the date given, perhaps a "correct prediction". I'm unaware of any such instance. Most of these "predictions" are decidedly vague and are often so subject to interpretation as to mean any one of thousands of different things. To then link a specific event to any of these wispy suggestions seems to me more a matter of chasing the prediction from the event (or a number of events), rather than actually predicting the event.
Everyone seems now to have a prediction of the end of the world.
To me people jump on this as now Slyvia Brown has. Her newest book, "The End of the World". Everyone now has seem to jump to mass market such books.
If I was to have faith in anyone it would be Edgar Casey.
But who even says death will not take me another way before 2012.
well i think even nostradamus is also not 100% correct in all his prophecies. so i dont know how much to believe in these prophesies
I think prophecies come true because people believe them and make them come true.
No chance the world is ending. I still owe $$. lol. Also I thing the world may change a little in 2012 but not end. Hopefully a more peaceful world.
yes but that is all up to us. we can change it if we wish
Throughout time, many people have speculated that the end of the world was near. So far the percentage of correct end world prophesies stand at a whopping 0%. I've seen a dozen interpreted prophecies fall short and that is just within my lifetime. Historically there have been many many dates, and yet we are still standing.
I have to agree with the Meepster ;). There have been so many predictions that the end is near or should have taken place already and yet we are still here. Not a one has come true obviously and I have no faith whatsoever in them.
it's just a cycle as humans we go through. the failing of the econamy is something we always go through. it has nothing to do with the end of the world
People thought the year 1000 was the end of the world...people thought the year 2000 was the end of the world...people fear what they do not know.
prophecies are a big thing its kinda like fate and the prophecy of the world "the end of days"Its jst way too big to overlook.
Why end the world now. What would the angels & demons do? Hug- I think not. It is boring for them w/out us.
Many other than those stated have predicted the end of time. i dont think it is however i could be wrong, but i do think something bad is about to happen.
lol how bad could it be though? could it be that big in such a few years?
If you are looking for bad things to signal the end of the world, you will find them only because turbulence is a constant. Fires, earthquakes, hurricanes, snowstorms tornados, floods, disease- the earth has never existed without these since the formation of our atmosphere. War is not new to mankind, and while we have the tools for destruction they have yet to be used on a global scale due to mutual assured destruction.
Eventually every calendar comes to an end- maybe we just need to flip over the Mayan calendar and start at the beginning. I'm sure if we are still standing post 2012, we will realize that the end of an astrological era does not equate to the end of our existence.
Nostradamus's writings have been used to declare the end of the world multiple times. As some here have pointed out he might not have even been attempting to foresee the future but rather covertly criticize society.
The Millerite strongly believed that the world was going to end on October 22, 1844. Millennialists prior to 1000ad and 2000ad were preparing for the end time. Heaven's Gate committed suicide so that they could avoid the impeding destruction in 1997. In early Christianity, people believed the second coming would occur in their lifetime and the earth as we know it would be no more.
Case in point- there are hundreds of dates thrown out by all types of cultures. The cryptic messages are easy to bend and meld to the current times, and the dates set in stone quickly get forgotten when they pass.
Assuming human life persists to the end of the Earth, eventually, one of these predictions will prove correct. That said, I completely agree with those who have pointed out that hundreds (if not thousands), of such "end of the world" predictions have been made and every single one of them has been wrong. That's something to which we should all be paying absolute attention.
Predictions seem to follow a pattern which is perhaps inherent to the human psyche, or perhaps more accurately, human ignorance. When we don't understand, we tend to use conjecture and subjectivity as a stand-in for real answers. When the real answers become available, a large percentage reject them in favor of affectionately-held superstitions and imagined conclusions.
This pattern repeats with end-of-the-world prophecies, gods, religions, machines conquering humans, military domination, governmental over-throw, and just about anything else people can imagine to generate fear, compliance, loyalty or feigned respect. In most cases, there is a hidden agenda though certainly not in every case.
At any rate, those who choose to accept such ideas tend to fall under the control of those promoting such ideas. I prefer to utilize critical-thought, skepticism and a strong preference for truth over authority to avoid being controlled in such a manner, where society allows.
What i was saying is that many people think that the world is going to end, ever race of people have predicted the end its the fact. dooms day is ni but when is a different story.
i dont put much thought into "the end of days" i figure when and if it happens it happens. i dont think something like that can be predicted
Im on the fence as it were i think it can but then again i think it cant so 50/50 again
the question isnt if the end of the world is truth be told by the mayans however if we look at the whole thing metaphysically an end doesnt mean it will be the end of life just maybe a great change will occur much like the dinosaurs dying or america getting discovered to ww2 its hard to say i say live life to your fullest and dont dwell on when it will end just enjoy what you have right now day by day
When you've been told 500-times that the check is in the mail...
...and the check still isn't in the mail...
...it's time to apply some healthy skepticism.
Am I off-base here?
Everyone sees the world in different ways...many thought the sun revolved around the earth til proven otherwise. So until something actually happens that says different...the prophecies are just words....nothing more.
Its when people try to convince me i can survive the end times, if only i commit to their community, and invest in the building of their bunker. That is when I become concerned. lady Winter has a well stated post.
Every 100 and 1,000 years or so, someone is predicting our doom, it seems. A few examples:
When the year 999 was about to go to 1000, people in Europe during the Middle Ages freaked out; The Millerites in the Midwest during the 1850's sold and/or gave away everything they had, went on the top of a hill, and waited for the end; and just as recently as the early 70's - I forget the exact year - some Jehovah's Wintnesses predicted the beginning of the end.
I say, take the predictions with a grain of salt, and just live your life the best that you can.
there's really no telling when the end will be. it's a game of chance really. when and how can't really be said
It is hit or miss. Unless there is scientific evidence that says this is going to happen on this day then no i dont believe we really know for sure..

I find it amazing the number of people who get sucked into the supposed significance of numbers. I remember the huge hype suggested by people in 1999 over the change to 2000. Of course there was a problem with the way software had been written for computers but much of the hype was simple superstition.
Apparently, some people don't realize that there are an infinite number of ways to represent numbers and seem to think that the decimal system has some special significance. I doubt many would have worried about the change from 999 to 1000 if they were using the binary system;
1111101000
...or hexidecimal...
3E8
...or even octal
1750
The same holds true for any other year. Finding significance in the series of symbols we use to denote the year, to me suggests a limited mental capacity and a lack of critical thinking skills.
This thread triggered my memory of Saint Malachy's Papal Predictions...according to it, there is one more Pope after the current one...kinda' creepy, as it will also be the time when the Church faces a 'tribulation'.

Very well put Whisper and Isis, I mean this is something that we have no control over why worry about it at this point, just my opinion
In the case of NEOs (Near-Earth Objects), we might very well have some control over it. But only if we care enough to be aware in time.
well this may sound kind of odd but the way i have thought of it it.....
kind of like it would be in a movie
we in our own minds know we are living right now. we know what has been said about the profecies. now, knowing people have lived and died before us, and we have heard all these predictions, wouldnt it just be fitting that we,(as in think of this as you) would be one to be alive when it all ends?
sorry i may not make sense, i dont know how to explain it
I think that prophecies can not be trusted because once they are expressed they have the chance of changing the out come. If you followed the prophecies and stayed out of LA when the earth quakes hit you may have been supposed to die in them or save someone and now life has changed.
I don't think that the world will end, or that every one living on this planet will die. I think that it will most likley be a dramitic change of what we know. Their are many things that can happen i just don't think that the planet earth or the human race will be destroyed. I guess will just have to wait and see lol :O
Well I think that when you look back thruhistory and you see the changes that have occurred since the beginning of time as we know it, things have to change, idon't think its going to be the end of the human race either, but we are indeed nearing some major life alterating changes
Well, the big issue I have is that the world have been here for let's say roughly millions of years. Longer than the Mayan Calendar.
So why would a world that has been here long before man conform to what man believes will happen? We're just a surface nuisance. :)
I have all the predictions written down.. just buy my book.. (a very common claim) yet how about this question.. What is the books purpose, is it going to spare the reader from the event?
Nah Dabbler...the book I have is more entertaining than anything else. There are a lot of outrageous - cartoonish - predictions in it.
anyone can have their own twist on predictions the only way to know the true prediction is to ask the person doing the predicting or to read the original itself....
I agree, Dargor, there must be a purpose, but I don't think we've uncovered it yet.
Why search though? Let us just enjoy what we have. Our women, our kids, and just raise hell while we can!
You can write something down but people can interupt it in many different ways. No one sees eye to eye with all this stuff
Most prophecies are what we make them to be or read into them, I am a skeptic of the early prophets yet they could be argued to have a sight to the future, yet like many cases, bible code, nostrodaumus, things we interput make it what we percive to be fact, yet another shall see something different. Myans had a true insight of the planets and math, yet could they actually determine the death of this planet, we shall see, many believe that the earth will be reborn, a change yet others see total destruction of life here, i hope for the generations of my family it does not end but be reborn, for life on this planet seems to find a way to live.
End of time... end of time.... *insert cartoon version of filing cabinet in the brain being gone through* nope! Nothing in here about the end of time. Oh wait! here it is! *pulls out file and opens it* says here that... it wont happen....
0_o
well as far as i know and beleave it cannt really be proven that its wrong or right it goes based on what the person whants to beleave so to be honost there is no right or wrong answer to this really and i cant find anought flaws on ones side more then the other tho i think the world will go on longer then what they are thinking tho i may be wrong.
Well when I will not consume my psychic energy to drain for this quest, I will Just ask the to the nature, to the surroundings and to the materialistic vision and to the sky and to the ground, yes they says their experience, this is most scientific and easiest way without consuming psychic energy in the vision by newbie or often worker....
Yes it all says... This universe is keep on changing... any moment the sun can explode into black hole and explosion may reach you the speed of million time more than the ray reaches here in eight minutes. any time our this star can fall in vermihole which may take this star to another end of the gallaxy or the universe tehre the condition may be different. any moment the earth plates can change and the lava can come up and create the sphere of poisonous gases or the impact of the cloud may cause or that heat may cause the global cold for many decades.
any time may the crust break and the water meet lava and may create the high thermo nuclear explosion...
any time automatic missile defence system may errupt due to any virus attack through spheric signal.
may gamma guns or sound gun may fall in hands of terrorists and may kill the brain.
any time any comet enter the earth with very highspeed from the orbit of the sun direct into the earth, how can earth peepal control such high speed comet. if its revolving in sun's orbit then its speed will be many more than the speed of gun. it will be nearly mac 1000 ( only vocal slogan but assumption is that it will be very high speed than our satellite moving in earth's orbit.
yet there is the threat of alliance attack too, why man so worried and carry such predetor thoughts that there will be the end of the universe.
Hinduism says that there is the callander bull of the Yuga, and each yuga is of appx 435000 years, first satya yuga (human is satisfied and does everything extreme do not care for anything even not for life) treta yuga (the yuga of laying the rules of living or will kill each other in the competition of rules and power ye not corrupt) dwaper yuga (need of fair rule and politics emphasized) all these three legs after this we entered in the last yuga the Kaliyuga of the time callander. This yuga is of darkness and dark ages, we have passed this yuga only by 5000 years. and yet nearly 430000 year we have to pass in this yuga and as long as we will be passing this yuga we fall in more darknesss and frustration and dissatisfaction will lead us to seven sins and the hybrids will take place and by the middle of the yuga the dark forces will take over this world and its leader Demon Kali (male gender different from Goddess Kali) will rule this world and when the yuga will lead towards end the good side forces will bedestroyed and when there will the threat of total removal of good side forces, one very powerful person will take birth and will destroy the whole evil forces along with its total base and reach. and this way the yuga will end with remaining only few beings in the world and those will take the world agan in the first leg the sat yuga and lay down the total good world. and this way cycle will be repeated. and this is sure that the worlds major beings get destroyed at the end of kaliyuga and remain only few peepal of good side. but this will take 430000 years.
and in between there may be any planetory system change etc will be there but no major destruction of world's beings.
demonloves you i find your so called "asking nature tattics" to be um not true as those things you listed have all be possiblites that was came up by other people threw out the years and is old news which shows your antics to be questionable to getting your imformation from "nature" when the theorys you stated have all been said maney times i know cause i heard those my self alot. what ever the case is i do know it will start with vilent wather occuring as i have seem it in my dreams maney times of the wather we will get hit by and from there i dare not see the rest in my sleep(i know my story just now is questionable but i beleave dreams like that which seem real and what not tends to be a link of what happend in the past or present or even future.
I'm currently going through my book on Nostradamus and his prophecies in search of info on the Anti-Christ.
If I figure out anything, I'll alert everyone.
I have already told that without using energy to ask nature means seek knowledge with the help of surroundings and using history nomally known about it. its philosophy phrase to ask nature... ground says it had flods eaeth quicks and even vanished dinasarous and its all species. general human gained the knowledge of nova and super nova.
Well. Honestly, I don't pay too much attention. We're approaching the end times..obviously. Because every day brings us closer to the end.
We're destroying the earth as it is. Life is getting worse and worse for everybody. Wait for the cure for cancer- it's all downhill from there...just like in I Am Legend. XD
But in all seriousness, I do think the world will end soon. Things are just getting too bad, we'll eventually destroy ourselves if the higher powers don't take us out of our misery first.
Personally, i don't put much stock in prophecies as mostly they are so obsure in their translation they can be interpreted into anything a person wants to believe.
society is always looking for the answers to the future and beyond, and they want to believe that their is a higher power, wether they think that these fortune tellers know something we may not and be able to predict the outcomes of society and the end of days, Yet we still are skeptical for alot is read into these tellings and different perseptions are had from different people, we believe in what we shall.
Propecies are usually vague but always filled in after an event that is close to the propacy.
Excactly, Sure the world will come to an end one day as it's been stated by theDoctor, Meeper and other's either by galaxies colliding, our sun exploding etc. Needless to say, there's nothing we can do about those so why dwell on it. Just live life and enjoy it.
anyone can change the outcome of their future. just because someone tells you something is going to happen doesnt mean that it will. a simple decision that has nothing to do with the prediction can change the outcome of the prediction.
demonlovesyou,
Re: "any moment the sun can explode into black hole"
Well, not exactly. Stars don't explode into black holes. They collapse into black holes. And before that can happen they have to be of sufficient mass. Exactly what that mass is varies from source to source but it's fairly clear that the minimum is at least 2 solar masses (twice the mass of our sun). Such a mass would form a "Stellar-mass" black hole. But the sun is of insufficient mass to form a black hole.
---
Re: "and explosion may reach you the speed of million time more than the ray reaches here in eight minutes.
Again, that's not quite the case. Matter cannot accelerate beyond the speed of light and the 8-minute figure you cite (actually about 8-minutes and 20-seconds), is the amount of time it takes light to travel the 93-million miles from the sun to the Earth. Were the sun to explode (and our sun is too small for this to happen), the matter and energy from the sun would take much longer than 8-minutes to reach Earth.

Re: "any time our this star can fall in vermihole which may take this star to another end of the gallaxy or the universe tehre the condition may be different.
Actually, current models for worm holes suggest that if they exist, they are most likely macroscopic in size and making them larger would require massive amounts of energy. Wormholes, while being functional mathematical models, have not been confirmed to exist.
If your point is simply that there are many things which might bring an end to the Earth then I concur whole-heartedly. The sun cannot last more than perhaps another 5-billion years before its stores of hydrogen are nearly all converted to helium. This would most certainly spell the end of the Earth as we know it. Much sooner than that is the expected collision between the Milky Way Galaxy and the Andromeda Galaxy which has the potential to spell the end of the Earth. Even more threatening to life on Earth is the potential to be struck by an NEO (Near-Earth Object), of sufficient size to plunge the planet into nuclear winter or perhaps even break it into many pieces. And of course there is always the threat of global warming which wouldn't actually destroy the planet, but certainly seems to offer the potential to destroy all life on the planet.
As far as I know none of those scenarios are consistent with current "end times" prophecies. But in that there are so many different prophecies of the end of the Earth and noting that none have come true, I suspect the safest bet is simply to recognize the implausibility of such prophecies and look to science to demonstrate the greatest actual threats.
I think if someone makes enough vague predictions they are bound to some what happen one day..... I do believe there are some people that can see ahead of time, but I do not believe Nostradomus is one of those people.... As I said, guess enough random events and a few are bound to be right.
tigers play, you make a valid point, yet how do people think that predicrtions come true, I go to the old stand by truth, and what can be interpited as predictions coming true, a routine people set in their limited routine ways can easily be lead by an outsider to accept vagueries, backed by small intervening manipulations into there social interaction.. as a prediction coming true, it is the "fore sight" of the con that plays a slick scam off of the stock exchange, 50-50 with home turf advantage or an Ace up the sleeve. All that is needed is an isolated group, I could propesy a state state swallowing storm, and if I had a compound I could just print up my own News Paper. Or Bit into the news broad cast and make my own news, does that make a prophet, I would say it makes a profit though.
I believe prophecies come true if we don't do something about them. The Mayans knew much of their own end and they where right. I believe the end of time is at hand, but we as people have the power to stop it. We just have to begin taking care of our home. Our home is slowly dying and we are the only ones who can do anything about it.
If everyone works together then progress speeds up, if its one person.. thats one more day everyday the person works hard. Thats what I believe.
Anyone wish to comment on my belief?
I'm up for words and discussion.
Why think to an hour glass, we do that already. We rush here, and rush their, and we set all our 401 K's so why are people still bothering? I can watch a group of people in a desert bunker waiting for the world to end, and wonder, what if they are wrong? Will they except the leaders excuse when the world goes on, or will they be slaughtered to prevent the truth leeking out, The cycle for end times is proof enough that first it is a minority hysteria, and second it is a mass nuesences, because it peeks into the lives of those that have a stable acceptance of could, and does happenings.
the whole of the world (according to the bible) has been said to have been in the End of Days since the New Testament. The book of Revelations also says that NO ONE will know how long or when, it cannot be calculated. There is a theory (this is meant in no disrespect to Christians) that the New Testament was written in the form of a greek play to spread the word of God with out being persecuted by the Romans. After years and years beyond the original message it very well could have been misenterpreted and started out as a warning to what we could do to ourselves and each other if we progressed on a path that was counter productive to our well being. While I believe some of Nostradamus' predictions, other's were proven to be erroneously misinterpreted. As far as the Mayans...Im not familiar with any of that so I can't even make an educated opinion. The "signs" as they are put down...with the wars and famine... it's not unlike the Great Depression minus the damage to the environment. I don't think the world will end tomorrow or next year. But I could be wrong.
They may be or not be true thus live your days knowing that you existed .
If one obsesses over prophesy then the foreshadowing will likely create a self fulfiling effect, even though the Law of Attraction is tenative at best, the more people that obsess over such thing, some perhaps intent on fulfilling those prophecies can create an appearance of such things existing, there fore with the potential to strenghten the likelyhood of further prophets being "correct". In a closed community it is just as easy to initiate such effects.

I dont think anybody knows the end of time because of how many people over years and years said of this is going to happen and nothing is happened.
We are constantly moving closer to the end times, but by the time we figure out exactly when it will be it will have already began. Prophecies are generally intended to be vague to prevent people from trying to change them. I think there is 1 very big misconception though about the "end times" or "end of the world as we know it". I believe it will be the end of things as we know it now and be the beginning of something new. The world has been "destroyed" before more than once. There was an "end of times" with both the ice age and the great flood. Life on earth was greatly changed in both cases and it will happen again. As with both of those times there will be survivors after the next one too.
I feel that if the end of times are going to be here no matter what we do it will happen in a matter of seconds so really there is no good thinking is this or that.
well i can predict things and most of the time i'm right so but i cant predict mor than a few munts a head and cant make prediction becas i wont to is jest random
Simply put I think the shit is going to hit the fan very soon. There are going to be some major climatic shifts that will affect many habitat's in a negative way.
I think that there are no true "prophecies". I feel that anyone can make a prediction of the future just based on studying the past and comparing it to the current. No one ever comes up with anything concrete that sticks.
If someone were to say, "you will die on such and such a date" and then I die without them murdering me...I will stand corrected.
err...fall. I will fall corrected.
