My question is this...

Do you feel any spirit or consciousness in your sphere while nothing is around you?

I did sense this, many times while in my full active mind state even when I was not doing astral projection and not doing conscious hovering nor I was suffering under-depression.

Okay I believe you are asking if anyone has ever sensed spirits or consciousness' around them without anyone or anything being present to cause the sensation.

If this is so, this discussion can continue but please make certain to keep on topic and make your posts understandable or I will close this thread.

Like anyone else, if I concentrate on the idea that I'm being watched, I can persuade myself into believing I'm being watched. But unlike most here, I recognize that as the power of suggestion and nothing else.

So to answer the question, "No, I don't sense spirits or consciousness around me which is not confirmable." But I am as subject as most to the power of personal suggestion. I can "psyche" myself into irrational concern.

It's just like all of the times when you think you're alone in the room and then begin to "feel" as though there is someone in the room with you. Most of the time you'll turn to find you're still alone. Once in a while you'll find that you were right and someone else has entered the room. It's likely that we heard noises so subdued that we weren't conscious of the fact that we detected them. People breathe, their clothing crinkles; carpet crushes under their step.

People like to think that they're picking up on an, as yet, undefined additional sense. But if one is rational, level-headed and not quick to jump to conclusions, they can offer equal consideration to all of the times someone has successfully sneaked up behind them to scare them and recognize that no such sense is being utilized.

I know my dog stayed for a bit cause it looked as if he had peeled in his spot and we have no other boy dogs that could lift a leg like that, lol.

I sense them all the time. After my Great Grandma died you could feel her around you. At the site we were all going through the emotions, talking etc.. It was breezy in that little area & when i walked 5 feet away it was a dead heat. Granny was there watching us as always keeping us cool i thought.

I even like the idea of pennies from Heaven. For the longest i never would come across any that often, but here recently i see plenty of them. Makes me think that my deceased loved ones are hinting that they are keeping "tabs" on me

How does one comfortably make the leap from "I believe I sense something" to "I know I'm sensing spirits"?

It seems a bit like feeling a bit of warmth on your skin and insisting you have your own miniature invisible star.

I have no doubt that many believe they sense something. But to jump to a conclusion and accompany that conclusion with "I know" seems, to say the very least, hasty.

I have both sensed spirts and seen them and so has my mom. I have often wondered why some people can see/sense them and others cannot? My two older sisters have never seen/sensed bout me, mom and my youngest sister have.

I have sensed Spirits around me. One day I was lying down fully awake and felt the bed as tho someone sit down. I knew noone was there the door was closed and I had heard my son and his friend clomping up the steps as boys sometimes do. I felt a cold chill go up my spine. I knew when I turned to look noone was sitting on the bed. The next day my daughter arrived to tell me my Mother had passed over. I believe our minds are so cluttered with what we have to do in our day that we ignore the small signs.

Everyday. I have had a ghost or spirit living with me for like 20 years. She follows me every time I move. She moves things from time to time to let me know she is still around. She watches over me. She has shown herself to me only 1 time & she is beautiful with a flowing blue dress & long blonde hair.

well while doing balance of mind practice its center focal point gaze excercise, I did see a saint spirit its caliber was yogini (yogini is not the materialistic title here, here yogini is the title of totally divine soul who attaned the highest exercises and deepest meditation and achieved the kundalini and spent her whole time and life in meditation and gained the powers of divine yoga, in divine yoga once it achieved, person's conscious and celestial entity becomes superstrong)

she accompanied me most of the time in my balance of mind practice she boosted my will to do more and more coz earlier when first day she appeared and sat aside me and started meditating in front of God where i was concentrating on the flame tip, i feared she may break my exercise. I did put her dimension picking from her sitting place by conscious and placed in the candle and resized her that her forehead's center be the flame tip. she wass beautiful most like celestial goddess in the white clothing.

she was pure most and from that day each day I had to do and my exercise were lasting 60 minutes to 90 minutes most of the days i did over one hour. depanded on convenience to go to office. I instructed those days to wife that no one should pass through the exercise room coz i am doing balance of mind practice. it lasted nearly 10 days. but in that case there was no such strange sphere feeling or feeling of strangeness.

Yes i saw her with open clear eyes coz gazing at flame is open eye practice and the room i made very holy to do that exercise. i was stressless position that time and gazing nonstop at the flametip and cared that flame do not flicker. after placing her forehead as flametip surprisingly flame did not flicker more than 20 long minutes many days. or normally flame flicker within 15 minute either due to variation of thoughts or variation of oil or the lit cotton or its carbon, we placed in candle cup.

and i here asking not that but i assk here that whether you sensed any strange that unknown spirit around oyu and you can not see it.

How does anyone know what they claim to feel are spirits? In what I've read so far, I've seen this only as a conclusion to which people jump because it is the most convenient explanation but certainly not the only explanation or one that is supported by the evidence.

The same claims could be applied to demons, gods or a whole host of other mythical creatures/entities. If I see a red spot on my skin, is it automatically measles? Does any itch mean I've been bitten by a mosquito? Does every sound from an unknown source indicate a haunting? Is every buzzing insect a killer bee?

One must remember that the classical claims made for spirits are highly contradictory and completely disregard well-evidenced properties of the physical. Skirting around rational explanations to favor those not built on reason is neither honest nor accurate.

People can believe whatever they wish to believe but it's not inappropriate to remember that wanting to believe something doesn't make it true. And believing what one wants to believe, simply because they want to believe it, is only a path to self-deception. It is the precursor to the kind of tragedy discussed in threads like the one on the Salem Witch Trials. More than 300-years have passed since then and yet many have learned nothing from that moment in history.

Those people jumped to irrational conclusions and never sought reason. As a result more than 150-people were arrested and imprisoned and 19 were hanged. It could all have been avoided had people remained rational and complied strictly with objective observation of the evidence. But because they instead chose to jump to irrational conclusions, many lives were destroyed and 19 were wrongly executed. One man was slowly crushed to death under the weight of rocks because he refused to submit to their claims of the paranormal.

Why is it so difficult for some to learn from the mistakes of the past?

It's perfectly reasonable to proclaim that you felt something or sensed something for which you lack an explanation. To proclaim that one has sensed a spirit is simply a misrepresentation of the information. It's akin to blatant dishonesty.

I have to agree that the frame of mind greatly affects how people perceive things. We are animals, we do have the instinct to be aware if something is watching us. We're not always correct but I'm sure that instinct has saved our ancestors.

If you had no concepts of spirits or ghosts, would you assume that the sensation of having something near you is a spirit?

Perhaps you want it to be a spirit. What we want something to be and what it actually is are very different things.

My partner doesn't talk much about it, & I don't press him. But after his father died at 42 last year hes been able to sense presences in the room, wether they are hostile or not...

RK - Out of curiosity, how have you determined that those two things are connected? Perhaps again it is a want for a strange feeling to actually be a loved one's spirit being in the same room.

But then again, maybe it isn't, and your partner is getting a familiar visitor now and then.

His sister has suffered... I don't know. Hallucinations. (Since the father died, his father died on the spot & had huge cuts on his head, and back that came from literally no where). Six sense shit. Like the kid that see's the people hanging... His sister claims to of seen those things. She also claims to of seen alot of... Burned people. I don't know wether to believe her, my partner does & he doesnt like her very much... & me, I just listen. I believe my partner though.

I think a lot of times, a person will claim to have seen things that can't be explained because it will get them attention, and no one can really tell them that they didn't see it because it's unexplainable.

I'm not doubting you, but I would doubt her story very much.

I don't like her & I don't trust her. As for attention seeking, thats likely. My partner seemed to feel she was telling the truth, he obviously knows her better than I.

Perhaps I've misunderstood you but it seems you're saying that when your partner's father died, he had cuts which appeared, with no known cause, on his head and back. Is that correct?

If it is, then I would think this would be easy to confirm. It would be a historic event. There should be newspaper articles, an autopsy and numerous medical reports to confirm the assertion. Such an incident would leave confirmable objective evidence.

But its not illusion to me

It was clearcut vision to me it was like total like us and the hues was the same as we do have and dimension too the same. we must understand if there meditation and such gazing exercises we are suggested that we must be at ease first get to the maximum level of ease and strainless and thoughtless position...

i did shavasana first the most relaxing exercise which cut me from matter of worry and stress may it be physically or mentally.

so no question of illusion or depression at all. when these exercise is done at level two which i was doing we have crossed the beginer state successfully. and students state we do acive as soon as we reach 2 level.

I'm having a bit of difficulty with the phrase "illusion to me". If one is suffering an illusion, doesn't that automatically suggest that it's an illusion to them?

Being relaxed doesn't rule out illusion nor does it rule out making subjective assessments based on suggestion or what one wishes to believe.

Consciousness? Absolutely, in the more Eastern sense. Everything is part of the larger collective consciousness, therefore, it can be sensed in the rustling of leaves, the running of water, the way a sword feels as it moves through the tatami... IMO it's all connected. What about indviduality? Sure, consciousness will seek to experience itself....

i feel them, around me every single day. they speak to me and i listen too what they say. their all around us every single day. there always there. watching our lives

I can sense them when they are around. It will feel like someone is right beside me or behind me. Some presences feel stronger then others, and some feel darker then others.

So say I am sitting here, on the computer lol, and if a presence is here, it will feel like someone is standing right behind me, watching me. I will feel warmth as well. I can feel relaxed and know that they are just watching and that's all they want to do.

Some though, I feel a heavy feeling, and cold and then my fear will kick in and my heart will beat faster. these kinds of presences I do not like. So then I will put up a shield in my home and force them out and usually I am good and then I don't have those kinds of presences for a good while.

For those who claim to sense spirits, how do you know what you sense is spirits and not something else?

I have always senses things such as this. For me the way to know that I'm right was that occassionally weird events followed these feelings. Things like a noise in an empty room, others hearing it, but finding no logical explination for it. Maybe these things are all in our head, but for me personally that has never been the logical choice of answers.

some time we are addressing the person and or talking the person via messages and when both are using conscious and feelings then others spirit d otouch us by emotions and conscious (feeling or awareness) that its conscious around us.

but that is very bold try it may lead you to dubbed in subconscious for longer than they used and imbalance their inner energies and relation of conscious-subconscious-intellact-active mind-and-latent mind and the darker features of these mentioned features do get weighty on us.

I'm not sure how one is to rule out other sources of noise in an empty room. The fact that it's a room means it's part of a building. And buildings move, shift and settle and even react to temperature variations by one material expanding or contracting more or less than other materials. Rarely are empty rooms perfectly silent for long periods of time. There are often little creaks, pops, groans and other noises from the structures undergoing slight movements.

Is the nature of these sounds such that it rules out noises made by the structure and if so, how would you describe the noises?

I think it's perfectly fair to say, "I feel something I can't explain". But to say, "I feel spirits", would suggest that at some point the feeling has been confirmed to be spirits and to the best of my knowledge, no one has ever confirmed spirits to even exist. It would be like me claiming to sense giant invisible neutrinos passing through my home. If I've never confirmed the existence of giant neutrinos, how can I know that's what I'm sensing?

If a dog doesn't understand the noise we call "thunder" would it be appropriate for the dog to claim that he hears god's anger? Wouldn't the dog be wrong?

I have sensed different things through out my life some I am not certain if they were other spirits or if it was something else that I could not pin point. Some I know have been spirits because of the events that followed with it. For example, my mohter passed away several years ago, I have felt a presence that was followed by my mothers colonge that she used to ware. For me this is how in my minds eye I was able to figure out that it was her.

Perhaps we can approach this from a methodologically sound angle. I'll try not to be too indelicate but my primary goal is to aid understanding.

If one has never petted anything that was confirmed to be a wombat, it's not possible for them to just feel an animal with their hand and credibly claim to "know" they're touching a wombat.

If someone believes that humans are reincarnated as non-human animals, and one pets a dog 2-weeks after their uncle has died and then believes they detect an odor which smells like their deceased uncle's favorite pipe tobacco, is that confirmation that the dog is their reincarnated uncle? Can they credibly claim to "know" that the dog is their dead uncle?

One can only know what it's like to sense a presence if they've sensed something and then confirmed it to be a presence. What I keep seeing are people who believe they sense "something" and then fill in the blanks with whatever they wish to believe. And of course, since we see "professional" paranormal investigators do this kind of thing all of the time, many people don't seem to understand that such a practice is, and should be, completely discounted as any kind of evidence of anything because it is purely subjective and tailored to meet the desires and beliefs of the subject making the claim.

Whenever methodologically sound testing principles are utilized, what is consistently demonstrated is that subjective assertions of "feeling" or "sensing" are almost always wrong. Tell someone you're giving them a new miracle drug for an ailment and many of them will claim to "feel" better shortly after taking it -- even when it's just a sugar pill. Tell someone enough ghost stories in an old abandoned house on a dark night with a storm growing in the distance and most of them will start hearing things and "sensing" some kind of presence.

Have you ever walked into a house and thought you smelled a certain kind of food cooking? Have you ever been wrong about the kind of food you thought was cooking? Have you ever thought you smelled something but could never track down a source?

Most of us have such experiences many times throughout our lives. But if you mix such an experience with the recent death of a loved-one and connect the scent to the person who has died, do you have conclusive evidence that they still exist in a conscious state; or do you have conclusive evidence that the power of suggestion can cause us to fool ourselves?

The answer is, you have neither. You have a coincidence. What you do with that from that point forward is assumption, not knowledge.

I do sence things around me most the time, i only know several that i can sence and know for sure who it is. but in fact there are far more dead than there are alive. so of course we will sense things at times.

Oddly enough I watched a BBC documentary today called "God on the Brain". The research targeted by the documentary tackled this very topic.

Much of the special focused on the work done by Dr. Michael Persinger who has been studying the effects of magnetic fields on the temporal lobes of the brain. Some of his testing demonstrated that some people have a rather high temporal lobe sensitivity while others have a much lower sensitivity.

The crux of the research was the demonstration that those with a high temporal lobe sensitivity can be caused to have a "religious experience" simply by introducing a particular frequency magnetic field near the temporal lobe and this has even worked with many devout atheists. Even more appropriate to this topic, those who believed more strongly in ghosts and spirits had an induced state of proclaiming they were sensing the presence of spirits or ghosts. Those who's beliefs leaned more strongly toward gods, claimed to feel the presence of their chosen god.

One branch of the research focused on people who claimed to feel a presence, especially in particular locations around their home or work. To summarize the findings I'll provide one specific example. The subject in question was a young woman. She often felt "a presence" while in her room and she often felt somewhat threatened by this presence. Many nights she suffered terrible nightmares which she also attributed to the presence she felt.

Dr. Persinger and an assistant visited the home with special equipment designed to detect magnetic fields and they did indeed find an unusual frequency magnetic field being emitted by the subject's clock radio (near her head when she slept). When attempting to induce a feeling of a presence in test subjects, Dr. Persinger found that he could successfully cause subjects to detect what they described as "a presence" accompanied with a number of other feelings sometimes including fear, mild paranoia, a feeling of being watched, sweaty palms and what was described as "a religious experience", in about 80% of the subjects.

Additional research revealed that during times when the natural magnetic field of the Earth is altered via natural means (sun spots, solar flares, aurora borealis, ect.), the number of reported ghost/spirit sightings increases dramatically.

It's also notable that St. Paul, Ellen White and Moses were known to suffer disorders involving the temporal lobes.

While this is likely not the answer many will want, it is an answer which is accompanied by objective evidence, provides demonstrability, and accounts for a great many such proclaimed experiences (if not all). So we're back to an explanation accompanied by objective evidence which explains the claims being made, but doesn't submit to purely subjective claims of an entity for which there has never been any objective supporting evidence.

When confirmable explanations are found for that previously attributed to the supernatural, the true explanations have always been purely natural and never supernatural. It would appear this is no exception to this hard and fast rule. I doubt any exception exists.

when i am sober i really can't tell, probably cause i'm distracted, but when i am on some chemichals i begin to percieve and understand things, whats more it's as though i was always aware.
i believe it comes down to the two sides of your brain, percieving what is around you, and chemichals can split your normal wiring, so it's understandable that some people can do this in a natural state, their bodies are just better at managing their hormones.

Does he offer any objective evidence to support his claims? And lastly, does he describe a mechanism by which his claims might be demonstrated to be effective? Can he provide evidence that the "luminous body" he mentions actually exists?

I read through your posts and all I saw was a string of claims. I didn't note anything which could really be called support for any of those claims.

The thing one should note about the work of Dr. Persinger is that it's supported by objective evidence. They don't just claim there is a magnetic field, they measure it with instruments and record the frequency of the magnetic field. They show a direct correlation between the fields and the reports of "sensing a presence". They demonstrate that when the magnetic field is removed, the "presence" is no longer sensed and they can induce the feeling of such a presence at will, simply by introducing a magnetic field of the proper frequency. In short; it's real science -- real research with confirmable findings.

Even medittor do not provide the materialstic evidence but the meditation is the easiest most available method to contect the spirits and it is gien in its first features too.

like I said on my page I have sensed things around me, my children, my house. I have had to banish three demons, but there is a feminine ghost or spirit here who is very protective over the whole family.

I don't "sense" a constant presence... but, at times smell certain scents that "connect" me to family members that have "crossed the veil" into the next life....
I've also experienced visitations where I saw shrouded figures including one time, where I had a telekinetic experience where the recently deceased spirit of someone communicated with me for over an hour... relaying information to give to a living family member.

Now I don't sense anything. But there have been moments and instances in my life when I have sensed presences around me. Its kinda like a spooky feeling to me. Maybe because I'm pretty scared of spirits.

I sense spirits constantly, their pain, the pressure. It does not help that I am also an empath, so I feel those feelings from those around me also. Those of the dead feel quite different though.

From my own personal experiences, yes i have sensed other entities that have woke me from sleep before. I haven't sensed things that i have not been able to see. Everytime a particular spirit/entity whatever you want to define it, came around me, I would immediately wake and see them, and sometimes i have felt them on top of me. The details of what i have seen was passed on to my mother and grandmother from the times this has happened. My grandmother confirmed what i was encountering by telling me a couple years ago that when i was little, i told her about seeing black things on the walls of my room, like shadow forms, which verified what i have seen once in a blue moon throughout my adulthood. My mother never really thought much about it until maybe a year ago when her patients were talking about seeing shadow forms of people in their rooms. She immediately came to me asking me questions about it. And i'm like see? Apparently i'm not the only one that can see them either. I don't feel they are connected to me family wise. I think they are roamers or passerby entities even though i have nothing to confirm that either. I just know that I have this ability to sense them whenever they come around which has become very rare now as of lately. I think it was as someone said before, when you are a child you are more open to things, and as we get older we either keep that ability or we lose it over time.

I see what is like in astral treveling mode. Basicly that I see afew times spirit creatures... Mostly now I see the astral aura of plants, trees and other things in nature and from people. What looks appear to be *grayness* For me it IS hard to describe to explain in detail. And sometimes I do see appearing to be 'little white grouped spots' They 'fly'-'float' around in a pack, basicly in the same area, but they sometimes do appear. I also have seen rarely the slightly larger blue spot. It is only one that does 'appear' from time to time. What I see is hard for me to explain, sorry.

Not only have a sensed things around me, I have seen them as well. Figures walking through the walls, and even through the floor from the shoulders up. There are even times, that I can smell the scent of my lover's perfume even though she may not have been in my home for several months, sort of a "here one minute, gone the next" sort of occurrence.

Ok Yes I have senced spirits and beings around me..Being a medium I have not only felt them I have seen t hem..With being a medium I have honed in my skill and have actually spoken to them..Sometimes its good other times its not so it all depends upon if you can see or not but yes I have felt them around me and actuality have seen them..

yes i have sensed this numerous times.mostly after the death of my x.i get the feeling i'm always being watched even when there is nobody here.

my bf senses a spirit in his room. At night he claims for like 30 seconds something hovers over him and he becomes paralyzed and cannot speak. Then it goes away. Im not sure what he is expieriencing but its definetly something.

I sense a spirit near me but i dont se anything or hear anyhting.. It is a feeling like there is someone there but not going to hurt me or harm me.. Just a feeling someone is there to watch and observe.

Yes, I have sensed it.

But also know, that high EMF's can cause feelings of being watched, paranoia, someone being around, etc.

I think in inbetween plane state when person is sleeping it arrive around us from different places and from different time period through time passage. We do not see them coz they are fourth dimension in inbetween plane in the sphere around us may be from other side of earth or may be from other time passage they been live thousand years ago or will live after 10 or thousand years.

Absolutely. but one must have an open mind to know they are there and acknowledge they exist.

I have senced things as well.Like coldness,and energies,
from a spirit..trying to make contact with me.One time..
I senced somthing near me and i said..'Who is there?'
and i got some low grumbly voice..that said 'Mordred'.
Scared me...but now i know that its very responsive.
Maybe..the astrial plains exsist..crossing between this
world here..and thats why we sence so much.

Ive posted this before but it seems to apply here in some cases

like i said if you dont want to see ,feel ,believe any of these things ,then you wont experience any of it .and if you do you wont realize any of it .cause your mind is made up that its fake .ive seen things that have made me believe.cause if you see someone riding bike what more proof do you need that they can ride.when i was a teen i was used as a channel for spirits to speak to my parents .they carried a hour long conversation with my parents who then proceeded to ask the spirits why they were here.and doing this to there son. the spirits told them that i was a channel and they were here to pick somebody up.my parents were scared it was me .but as it turns out it wasnt . it was our neighbor he died that night . and with his death they had a chance to visit.ive only had 2 other experiences since then .i dont remember all of the conversations cause when they take over its them not me .and im not joking it happened so i believe .truly believe .but there are fakes that will screw you out of money .there is always something out there that you wont be able to explain but that doesn't mean it diddn't happen or doesnt exist.

Well for test I worked on consciousness different way. I felt that spirit always ride on the wings of conscious conscious carries energies and aura which form shapes much time and wandering of spirit the base is conscious only and I do feel some one's conscious (spirit) around me some time and some time feel direct intrusion into me too and that time i feel i am different in inner map and in shape of my aura.

Even myself too can shift my conscious to other's place.

Conscious projection always starts with feeling the object, sphere and cores. When we start this regulerly, the conscious start moving as per our feeling very soonerly.

There is always one of two that I always feel around me, one being my grandfather, and its always an overwhelming feeling of love, and more recently that of my mom.

I sense this many time and yes I wasn't doing any ritual or something like that
