what do u lot think about the remaking of the exorcist- is it a good idea? - do you think its going to be good or bad?
i seen tht film man, n my opinion is, its shit, y does ppl always av 2 update shit tht film is great the way it is it doent need updating, things should be left how they are! thts my opinian urs is probz different, the world just pisses me off theses dayz.
I didnt even know they made a new exorcist until I seen it in a magazine. I with they would stop fiddling with the movie. It is one of my favorites. I enjoyed the new parts and additions made to the orginal. This one I am not sure about I havent got a chance to see it yet. I would like to just to see if it can even compare to the orginial. I'm sure it wont. most of them never do.
well i dont think they have started filming yet- and i agree- they should stop messing with this film- the original was good- and it should of been left - but i admit to liking exorcist; the beginning
I agree they should stop makeing the remakes of movies. But they wont cause they try to bring back movies that were scary once.Cause the old excorcist was awesome and they made this one so bad it kinda makes the old one look bad.
Some films do turn out better, but for the most part the orginals are the best and shouldn't be touched
If they *can* make a better remake ... that would be an incredible film.
The original was very good in it's own right (still flash on that poor young girl masturbating with a crucifix with the demon chanting, "Let Jesus f*ck you"). However, so much technology exists now for CG effects, etx., that ... well, maybe they'll do a good job. One may hope so.
NO NO NO NO NO REMAKE ITS SCARY I CRAP MY PANTS PLZ NO REMAKE!!!!!!!!
That's um...yeah no comment.
Personally I found the movie comical. It was more funny than scary. I'm sure they tried their best to make it but it was pretty transparent. Not hard to figure out. Usually I just try to sit back and watch a movie without trying to figure out what will happen next but I was so bored in the theater that it was all I could do.
I try to remember that movies are art to some people particularily the directors and writers. Pretty much everyone involved feels as if it is their art. So even if we hate it, it should still be respected. There are a lot of drawings out there done by artists that I think are complete shit, but I still have to give them some credit for having enough balls to put their art out to be seen.
I for one am tired of people trying to make money but taking a perfectly good film and remaking it for modern times.
The addition of a pretty actor who cant act does not improve a film, id be happy with a re-release but re-makes are just a joke, look at manhunter, there was nothing wrong with the first one, but apparently not having Anthony Hopkins was reason enough to remake the entire movie.
Can it beat this!!... extract form the film making of the original
The film's most powerful oxymoron is undoubtedly the most shocking, most horrible scene in the history of cinema. It makes one inescapable point. This is not a disease. This is not a dream. This is not even a lower-echelon evil spirit from some haunted house movie. Only the Devil can do this.
An interesting sidebar. During this scene, Ellen Burstyn is supposed to be sent flying by a vicious backhand blow. Of course, this was before the era of digital wizardry, so she had to be physically strapped into a harness and then pulled across the room. As the rehearsals wore on, she warned director Friedkin that she was starting to get hurt. Friedkin agreed that the next take would be more gentle. He lied.
He covertly instructed the special effects designer to "let her have it." She went flying like a rag doll, screaming in agony as she thudded to the hard wooden floor. And Friedkin, the consummate artist, dollied in to get that last close-up, before calling the paramedics. Now that's what movies are all about.
This movie is what movies are all about.
People just try to hard and it drags down the whole concept. At first I thought this was just a recent trend and that it would stop but now I look back at all the movies even older ones a few good years ago and they were doing remakes then too. It's pathetic, and it shows a huge lack of creativity. That's what's most depressing about it.
I don't like when they remake classics... if its not broke don't fix it... but sometimes remakes turn out better than the original, like the texas chainsaw masacre, i liked the remake better....but a lot of people disagree...
New genreation of effects will spawn a new breed of movie goers.... for once i'm glad i was a 80's child.. check this site for great info on the original.. and the 'curses'
I get so sick of excessive special effects used in movies. Blah it just takes away from the feeling. and well I'm just a touchy feely person hah
i hate the way they remake films and music, they should just come up with there own stuff and leave the classics alone, not to tarnish their names.
All I have to say is that I dont like remakes! i dont think I have ever seen one remake that was good!
Well if they did re-make this then maybe they'd use soemthing besides green split pea soup.
And to remake the whole crucifix scene, I think the powers that be would go ape s**t bonkers the way they've been lately
Sometimes remakes can be better worked than the original, but very rarely. On this subject, i can think of one, i thought they did a great job off. Dawn of the Dead.. Thought they done a fine job with the remake... 'When hell is full, the dead will walk the earth'..
Hell has been full for a long time...
didn't even know they did a remake, they are never anygood anyway...
I liked the first film and I think some remakes are good as long as they stay true as artistically possible to the original (to me Alien resurrection blew this out of the water by gettin rid of mother and weyland Yutani) but some remakes are good and can also give a better backstory that may have had to be overlooked in the original
Uhm.. Exorcist The Beginning is no remake.. It's a prequel. The 2000 version is a (good) remake. This version is just what happend before the original Exorcist.
Seems like everyone needs to make prequels these days.. Silence of the lambs (Red dragon), Exorcist, cube.. When will it end? :P
I thing original thing are much better....but nearly always
well the remake of the exorcist might be a good idea- we will just have to see ( and im not talking about exorcist: the beginning)
Well I guess thats true. Its not worth to judge before seeing it.
Well, I agree that we shouldn't judge before it happens, and we can observe the results...
I do however, think that The essence of The Excorcist (a film which might I add I do NOT think is up to its spectacular hype) was that it was uqite base in its filming techniques and effects, and that gave it the somewhat 'eerie' aura about it. A modern version will be ful of technical tricks and attempts to amaze. Which wasn't hat the film was about.
But lets wait and see.
I just watched the movie.. I'd like to point out that it's not a remake..its a prequel. It goes back to before the fist movie..to give you the story of father Merrin's first encounter with the evil. and I liked it..
i've not seen the exorcist...
i don't think i'll get the chance for a while either...
It's good to see the older "scary" movies. as well as the remakes.
i saw it it was a peace of shit in my opinion i dont see why ppl have to mess with what is already great. i mean damb leave some shit alone just let it be. Honestly it was more of a joke ( made me laugh a few times ) but it was a real waste of money
i for one agree with what alot u r saying
leave the orignal movie alone dont ruin a classic masterpeice by more violents and language thats not what makes a great movie...
In the UK they have re-made a series called Doctor WHo, which was a cult classic, now they have gone and done this and destroyed it.... *swears*
