does real anticonformist really do exist?
or is it just conformism to something else than the main stream?

You don't need to be an anticonformist to think for yourself, make your own decisions, and be true to yourself and the world. That's part of living. True some people choose not to really think for themselves. it seems sometimes people don't trust themselves and are taught or just feel afriad.
I knew a group of anarchists/noncomformists who formed a pack and named themselves a leader. It was depressing...And I told them so. They promptly chased me away...Stupid people..why god why.

I agree with Morrigon. We do have the ability of free speech, however are own sence of logic forms its own conformity within anticonformity, dont you think?

well I think that if one conciously thinks over which rules one will accept and which ones one will not accept that one in the end turns out ok.....

the trick being is that you arn't conditioned in that case but your actively choosing according to your own best interest. Now mind a lot of this can be reduced into most rules are there for the benifit of all.

But I still eat on the bus even tho there are big signs saying that I will choke and go directly to the 325th layer of hell (the layer of sloppy eaters whom choked to death while vilolating a city ordinance).

When it comes down to it, we are all the same. You can't escape it, hah! Especially people to try and be different, they all end up being the same as eachother. Always remember that you are unique, just like everyone else.

adhereing to a rule just because it is a rule is conformity for me
if i find use in it then i may adhere to it like glue or use it as a lawn ornament when it suits my disires

hmm... my personal opinion is that if you can still somehow pinpoint and define it in an amount of people, then it's still a form of conformism, even if it's meant to be the exact opposite. personally i believe in balance... go along with the stuff that's to your advantage and fuck everything else ;)

You all have excellent points. I personally think that the only way to be an anticonformist is to do whatever the heck you want, whenever you want, despite the rules, despite society, despite the consequences, and most importantly, despite your friends. These people do exist, but are either in prison, dead, or totally famous for being what society calls "jerks".

I would say that the word anarchy focuses more on the idea of disorder based on the masses.. usually by a loss of order by a social hierarchy or government for instance; if the government was brought down, we would apparently be in 'anarchy.'

This may be incorrect but I would personally define anticonformism as the personal choice not to conform to some areas of society, rather than fighting against the system.

I agree with OB1. My son once told me that he was an anticonformist and yet all he wanted to do was dress exactly like his friends. Now, he doesn't claim to be 100 percent anticonformist. lol

so we solved it: anticonformism does not exist, 'cause if I call myself an anticonformist then I'm already conforming to something therefore I'm a conformist, but as being an anticonformist I can't be conformist, as we concluded - anticonformism does not exist so that means that I don't exist! :)

No matter how a person is an anti-conformist, still she/he has to live with rules.Am labelled as an anticonformist but have to live with rules and dress codes all the time.I still dislike those kids who play to be anti-conformists to look cool,cause in that case they're just stupid.

Firstly, i gotta say, that to define something by title is conformity, and not something i do within my own mind, but i do so here not to conform, but to communicate.

Fisrt thing that i think i ought ramble about thismorning is nonconformity. A much more typically used and abused phrase.
How many comments in this thread are written to the nonconformist, as opposed to the anticonformist???? Quite a few to my mind.
The difference being expressive and grammatical, but it is a difference in practise also.
A nonconformist attempts by nature not to fit in, where an anticonformist is an extreme reaction working against conformity, with the intention of disrupting conformity in general.

Unfortunately most anticonformists tend to misguided and actually seek to merely change the definition of conformity to something more palateable to THEM.
Not always, but usually. It is unfortunate, though.

Thus, if i need to set myself into a category i am a nonconformist instead of an anticonformist. I really dont give a shit about what you say, do, or think. I'll do what i want to... and what i feel like.

And unlike most, i do allow nonconformity to exist regardless of the prevailing laws. i guess that makes me proud to wear the title of "criminal", though it's another label i dont like.

Throughout your life, you will choose to either conform or not to conform to certain laws, regulations, beliefs, etc.

I think ronsavage put it best - "an anticonformist is an extreme reaction working against conformity, with the intention of disrupting conformity in general." This brings to mind a comparison with matter and antimatter. Neither can exist on the same plane of existance without both ceasing to exist, in which case what would be left to conform or rebell against?

Using that line of reasoning, I would say anticonformism is just a label used by those who are seeking to destroy a certain regualtion, law, etc. It would be improbable that any one person could be anticonformist in every way at all times. For example, seat belt laws. You can refuse to conform to using them, but at the first site of a police car you quicly scramble to put it on.

anti conformist really to exist or none comformist as they called em in my psychology book. and that doesn't mean ur psycho just that you just dont conform to the norm
