I have never been harmed by shadow people, Leprechauns, elves, fairies or gremlins. At present, the evidence leads me to conclude that none of them have brought me any harm for precisely the same reason.

Shadow people (also known as shadow men, shadow folk, or shadow beings) are supernatural shadow-like creatures of both modern folklore and traditional native American beliefs. According to folklore, they appear as dark forms in the peripheries of people's vision and disintegrate, or move between walls, when noticed.[1][2]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_people

Other than watching me, I've had no real contact. I speculate though that they turned off my oven once recently and they like to occassionally play with my son's toys, especially the ones that make noise.

What about when I'm driving and just for an instant, I think I see a car coming out of the corner of my eye, then I look and there's nothing there? Is that a shadow car? Or is it simply due to the loss of clarity outside of the fovea?

Re: "I agree most things we see are not there but thats not always the case....I mean think about it you feel eyes on you yet you see not."

Have you ever seen a cat after it's had a close call with something like a rattlesnake? If they're not familiar with such creatures, they'll nearly jump out of their skin any time you startle them for the next several hours. They "spook". People do the same thing. If you're prone to the effects of the proverbial "scary movie", aren't you more prone to being startled and frightened an hour or two after watching one than you are normally? This is a far more likely explanation for why people who believe in the supernatural are more inclined to report experiences with the supernatural than those who don't believe in such things.

If you've had a black cat cross your path and you believe it will bring you bad luck, you'll be highly in tune with every bit of bad luck and quick to attribute the events in your life to the encounter with the cat. If you don't believe in such things, you'll draw no such conclusion. But both are subjective views. The only way to know for certain is to do an objective analysis. And when such studies are completed, the outcome is almost always consistent with the purely natural. And that's when believers point their fingers at science and claim it's incapable of detecting what they can detect, just as the drug addict on hallucinogens is likely to blame everyone around him for not seeing the things he sees, rather than realizing that his perceptions are the ones that have been chemically altered.

When we become intensely focused on something, and even if we subconsciously detect tiny sounds, currents in otherwise still air, a brief flash of light; were more prone to thinking we hear something else or seeing something else. I know when I used to go for a ride on my sport motorcycle, I was far more intensely attuned to the engine sounds than I would be had it been a motorcycle belonging to someone else. It was my most prized possession at the time and I could barely afford to buy it. Had it had a catastrophic mechanical failure, I wouldn't have been able to get it fixed. So I was highly attuned to every sound. And I was constantly hearing sounds and worrying that something was wrong. And yet, it sounded just like it was supposed to.

If we're looking for things, we'll often find them or think we've found them, even if they don't exist.

I think that's rational call for shadow people, Leprechauns, fairies, mermaids, gremlins, goblins, etc. When/if there is sufficient objective evidence to suggest otherwise, then I'll have another look.

People tend to be embarrassed by being spooked by common things, but when people hear, or witness someone spooked, they will seldom admit it was something actual. Claiming a shadow moved in a different way.. That is
A way to "save" face.

Every other day as I am about to go to sleep, I spot ill shadows moving and lurching in the corner of my eyes. Long tendrils that can only be described as fingers and limbs slowly make their way towards the center of my sight whilst I am unable to get away - Move - or even breathe.

Just as I believe they're going to reveal themselves, they carefully pull away and the feeling of impending doom and dread dissipates, much like the shadows themselves did ... Leaving me alone, once more, for another night.

I had written an article about this but a continuation of another introductory article that went into the Shadow People and all the pros and cons by another author I was working with on an ezine. No one knows what these are. There are numerous theories from demons, spirits, inter-dimensional beings, hallucinations, aliens, and the list goes on. The one significant factor is that more and more people are now seeing them than had in the past. They are appearing right in front of people and disappearing and it is no longer always that shadow caught out of the corner of the eye. Some have reoccuring shapes such as the "hat man" which many have seen including my daughter. Here are some stories from members of my family I included in my article. I don't see shadow people but small about 4 feet tall people not straight on but catch them looking at me out of the corner of my eye. I have seen them for years and had them confirmed by a friend and well the story goes on but that has nothing I don't think to do with shadow people. These are not edited tales but in their own words. So here are their stories.

Story one

A few years ago, I was sitting at my computer in the middle of the night, trying to think of something interesting I could do online; something different from the same old routine. I started racking my brain for anything interesting, unique, or obscure to look up. Then I thought of something from my childhood, when I was about four or five years old. But how to look it up…I didn’t quite know what “it” was. Especially since it was just a dark figure with no real features, just pretty much a tall black shadow that (at 4 or 5 yrs old) too closely resembled a witch!!! That’s when I decided, just for kicks, to see what would come up if I entered a search for “Shadow People”!!!

The first shock was discovering that I was not the only one to encounter shadow people. Apparently they are everywhere, because there was an almost endless supply of websites devoted to encounters with them. The second shock was realizing that my perception as a child, in thinking the shadowy figure was a witch, was all wrong. And while browsing through the different sites, I found one that had drawings/pictures that were submitted by people that have seen these creatures. At first, the pictures ranged anywhere from far-fetched to downright absurd…pretty funny even. At least until I got to the picture that had me staring directly at my shadow person again for the first time in over 24 years…..

As a little girl, I stayed at my Grandparents’ house a lot, even living there off and on at different times. The majority of my childhood memories are connected with that house. It has always been the one stable constant thing in my life…since that is where my Grandparents have lived my whole life and are still there to this day. The most confusing memory I have always had was during a particularly hard part of my life. It started when I was about four or five years old. During this time, I can remember visiting with my Dad a lot and in between visits…at my Grandparents house (I should mention now that they are my Grandparents on my Mother’s side). My Dad and Mom were divorced and my Dad remarried to a particularly cruel woman. Funny thing though, she was only cruel to me for some reason. She never had a problem with my sister…never really figured out why.

But I don’t want to stray from my purpose here, so moving on…My Grandmother has always told me that during my visits to their house, after being at my Dad’s, I would have constant nightmares and would scream in the middle of the night. She would describe them as blood curdling screams. I don’t remember any of this and can’t recall a single nightmare. What I do remember though, was waking up every morning…it scared the hell out of me. I remember it being the same every morning…my sister would already be awake and out of bed. I’ve never been a morning person, so I was usually always last to wake up. I would open my eyes, look up, and standing on the side of my bed down toward my feet…there was this person standing there looking down at me.

I don’t really know if “person” would be an accurate description as there were no discernable features…the figure of a person, but it was all black…like a solid shadow. The only details I could make out were what appeared to be a cape and what looked like a wide brimmed hat. I never kept my eyes open long enough to try to figure it out. It always happened the same way…I opened my eyes, saw the figure, quickly pulled my covers up over my head, counted to three, then jumped from my bed to the door and ran down the hall. What I remember thinking was that it looked like a witch and I figured she was there to get me. This memory has never left me and I can see it in my head today as clear as if it happened yesterday.

Sitting in my room staring at this shadow person, my shadow person, on the computer was scary, exciting, freaky, unbelievable, and a whole list of other emotions that just flooded through me. It didn’t look sort of like it…it was immediate recognition, almost like seeing a long lost friend after years of separation. Only thing was, this was not a witch. In fact, it is more often described as masculine and the wide brimmed hat almost a bolero style. It made sense to me at that moment why I, at four or five years old, would look up and see the wide brim hat and cape and of course…I mistook it for being the brim of the classic witch’s Halloween hat.

The website I found the picture on was the old Art Bell website. The picture is no longer there. In fact, his website was completely redone or moved shortly after that and I could no longer find the picture to show people as an example of my experience. So, I forgot about it for quite some time. Until….I started getting involved in an internet ezine publication that my Mom is involved in. The Graveyard Press impressed me and I thought it was pretty cool that my Mom was such an instrumental part of it. What was even more exciting was that my Mom had taken an interest in an article…or more like me ranting on about something that irritates me (I’m good at that!!) and wanted to put in the publication. So, that started my involvement and I decided to check it out further.

That’s when I saw the article coming out…Shadow People!!! Once again that scary, excited, tingling feeling came over me and I started searching the net again. And once again, I stumbled on a website that had me staring right at my shadow person. This website calls him the hat man and when the picture came on my screen, I jumped so quickly, I think I may have literally come out of my skin…at least that’s what it felt like for that split second. The website I found this on was: http://www.shadows.ufo2u.com/. I told my Mother about my experience and the strange way that the Shadow People keep appearing in my life and her suggestion…write about it. My conclusion: I don’t know what they are, I don’t know why they are here, I do know that at least one of them had an interest in me…but as for the reason why, I may never know.

Story Two

When I was a kid I used to see the shadow people. I would wake up in the middle of the night with an uneasy feeling. There were two types of shadow people that I can remember, the ones that took the form of a human they didn't scare me that much, and the ones that would change shape and make faces like jack-o-lanterns.

There was one night when I was watching the shadow people float around my room as a kid. I remember there was this old silver VCR in my Dad's room that had a green light-up clock. I watched the shadow people float across the clock, and I watched the clock get dark as they floated by. That's how I knew I wasn't imagining things. They used to say things to try and frighten me, not actually out loud but I knew what they were saying inside my head. They would pretend to choke my father and tell me they were going to kill him while he was sleeping. I actually woke him up on one occasion swinging a wiffle bat wildly around in my room trying to knock them off of him. After awhile I started seeing them during the daytime as well, in the morning while my dad was sleeping. My father just told me that I was dreaming, and kind of brushed it off. Eventually as I got older I stopped seeing them as often. Now I still see shadow people from time to time, but usually it's just a glimpse out of the corner of my eye.

On a personal note, what is not told is that they hit their Dad as well while trying to fight off the “shadow people” since they have no substance. You can imagine being woken up from a dead sleep and having your child standing over you hitting you with a wiffle bat.

Story Three

I have heard about shadow people for years. I always figured it was a delusion brought about by lack of sleep or heavy drug use, but one night I learned how wrong I was. I had just gotten off work a few hours earlier, and I was laying in bed talking to my boyfriend on the phone. The lights were out and I was just laying on my back talking and staring up at the ceiling. I started noticing figures moving around my room in the dark. They were darker than my room. I was slightly scared, and slightly amused until I felt something sit on top of me, then I was terrified. I felt the pressure of a weight on my mid-section. I felt the pillow sink in by my head as though someone, or something had put their hands on either side of it. I even heard the pillow case shift on the pillow, the sound of material being rubbed together. Then I really saw the shadow person up close. It was nose to nose with me, if it in fact had a nose. It's facial features were almost like a jack-o-lantern's only where the glow should have been for the eyes and the mouth there was darkness, darker than the shadow person itself, it can only be described as blacker than black. While it was still up in my face, it screamed, but it wasn’t audible, it was a shrill.

...just as the drug addict on hallucinogens is likely to blame everyone around him for not seeing the things he sees, rather than realizing that his perceptions are the ones that have been chemically altered.

I may be in the minority here, but in the rare case that I can't distinguish a hallucination from reality, I actually depend on others to know whether it's there or not, rather than blaming them for not seeing it too.

I've never had any encounter with any unexplained phenomena regarding 'shadow people', nor do I find it plausible even within a metaphysical framework.

I did not see the shadow peepal.

Yes heard of such things:

and some one did jump on the main branch of the tree after I just passed that tree under that branch and believe me none was there nor a single bird flew from that tree and nor any animal around it. It was 3.30 am around I was going to take a cab in around 1994-95 when my family was goingto her maternal place in other state. that time i was stayin in earlier residence and that tree of baniyan is still there just 50 meter away from my colony gate and i am surprised tht no even single security guard gien attention to such a big noise, nor any bird around flew of due to danger.

and a celestial spirit with human hues and white clothign was sitting aside many days when I was doing balance of mind practice and that spirit will be my Guru when I will start my divine spycho-spiritual exerises again when I will become 45 after 4 years.

ha-ha this same was happenied with security guard of our colony of 100 families, in front of other guards.

the matter was supressed immediately and public not informed of this and next day cleanse rituals been done to calm the matter and no such attempt saught after that cleansing.

I was present at the time of that guard returned from clinic after te treatment he told us exactly what happened and other guards told too what they saw.

the spirit was picked him up when he was sleeping and threw many time on ground and beating him each time. it picked him many time from the ground, first time it threw him from the chair ha-ha when he was sleeping on duty at night.

Others Guards told that they saw this guard been picked so many time from the ground and thrown again to the ground and doing like some one hitting him and kicking him. even they saw clearly the unseen threw him from chair. he was at least one feet high above the ground alongwith chair.

Here is a project you can do at home, it is best done in a walk way.

A filtered house light, and a flashlight will be needed.

On a dark Moonless night, or fair moon, study all standing shadows. enter the walk way from all sides available.

Then have a friend project a shadow from an opposite "hidden" vantage point. In motion the shadow cast over existing shadows will be Filmable phenomena. If you get good enough you can shadow cast to your skeptic friends for a spooky moment.

well it sounds also like the movie Gothica where the spirit of the dead girl was slammin' her around in her room... only a shadow of someone/something.. yet, I have not seen them yet my American Indian Mother swore by these things and she had seen things happen when she was younger, so I myself would not want to say it is all a trickery of ones eyes.

I have shadow people walk through, yes through, my home on various occasions, I let them go their own way. Only one has ever reacted to anyone in my house though, and that was one that apparently walked into my bathroom and watched my girlfriend shower (I have a clear, slightly distorted shower curtain so she could see a figure in the doorway that was not me) .

I agree with cardrewolf on that these are just tricks of the eye. There is a theory that everything gives off energy (as I'm sure all of you know) and when you see something "move" out of the corner of your eye it's just that energy. Kind of like auras. I have never had experiences with shadow people as far as I know, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

I would wager that a majority of people who say, I don't believe in X.. But .. You never now.. Are in it to spook someone out, usually with the intent of assuring the mark that they (the spooker) can teach them to "protect" themselves.. You just never can tell.. Any thing is possibly?? Right?

I see them out of the corner of my eye from time to time...I think nothing of it. If they really wished to confront me, to instigate or just to be...It is strictly up to them. Nothing we can do about it really.

Shadow people I think are the most scary apparitions because I firmly believe they're not benevolent and that they might not even be humans ... They may be the ghosts of things man was never meant to know...

You know debates are one thing but skeptics will always remain so no matter what someone says or even if they were to see one of these entities. They would second guess themselve so I guess someone needs to catch one...right?

Hundreds of people have seen them and they have repeated shapes. It wasn't until the interest came onto the internet that many realized they saw some of the same types. I am sure there are books now.

Magickians have been talking about them for awhile. Just because something is unknown doesn't make it bunk. Until they proove either way I think people should respect what others say, it doesn't mean they have to be a believer but keep an open mind. There will always be charlatans but that doesn't mean everyone is lying or delusional. Everytime something comes up that is not understood the old delusional yardstick comes out.

Not everyone will experience the paranormal. It's just how it is. No one knows what these shadows are but they do exist in my estimation because too many people from all walks of life have seen them and to say delusion is really ludicrous and a cop out in my estimation. No one knows they just talk about it.

Shadow people are a true phenonimum, sure one can create illusions with shadows but on that note one can try to create anything and sort of come up with a half baked plausible concept. The problem with shadow people is they are just out of perspective and we only get glimpses of them. This gives power to skeptics on this debate and ignores supernatural events.
We didn’t write the supernatural book where a skeptic needs it in detail, shame such events are limited and no ghost hangs around to answer skeptic quizzes and debates to support a scientific view and thousands of tests ….. for the rest of us we know what we have seen and that is enough, most religions are based on that concept of life after death… why is it when outside of religious boundaries it is considered bunk… and the skeptics given power.

Well see to me as is said you could check with the voice pattern and such, yet really it blows my mind how many will doubt that these things can or could be real yet .. not so much skeptical when it comes to believing in a religion or faith that god etc.. exist. has anyone here alive today actually seen him or any gods or the devil themselves? No do not think so, yet no one wants to respectthe fact that shadow people, spirits ghost etc.. anything supernatural or spiritual could exist...

I myself would rather have optimism as to that they could and are real to some people and not in just their minds.
Grant it some are trickery of the eyes and have been proven. Yet there are many that have not been proven, so what are we suppose to think everyone whom says these things are real are actually a little touched in the mind / head.?? LOl I am sorry I just get so tired of people who say PROVE IT!!!

About everything that many may believe and have actually experienced... just how I feel and think about it, no disrespect meant to any on here .

Re: "You know debates are one thing but skeptics will always remain so no matter what someone says or even if they were to see one of these entities."

No one should accept an extraordinary claim without evidence - ever. Skeptics tend to be skeptics when extraordinary claims are made and backed by nothing but a believer's assertions or anecdotal claims. I've perceived movement out of the corner of my eye when there was nothing there moving. I recognize that the human body with all of its wonderful organs and their abilities are still products of evolution and therefore, prone to anomalies, failures and distortions of reality. That explains the phenomena, is backed by evidence, and is, to a degree, testable through objective means. To believe that this perceived movement is caused by shadow people, despite the complete lack of supporting objective evidence is no different than believing that choking on a bite of food is a demon's attempt at strangulation.

When someone offers a wildly extraordinary claim and expects me to believe the claim simply because they believe it or even because hundreds of other people believe it, I have to look to the number of people who claimed to have seen Elvis Presely walking around after he died. I have to look to the billions of people who believed that Dionysus, Mithras, Tammuz, Horus and hundreds of other gods, (most of which are now accepted as characters of mythology), actually existed.

The popularity of any belief is in no way related to the veracity of that belief. This has been demonstrated over and over throughout history. It's known as the "fallacy ad populum" because it's a well-established fallacy. That for which there is no objective supporting evidence simply garners no credibility and for very good reason. If anyone could present even one time when a subjective personal belief had been found to be contrary to objective evidence and yet turned out to be true, there would be some foundation for acceptance of such possibilities. But the reliability of the objective over the subjective remains consistently unchallenged. Believing that shadow people exist simply because hundreds of people have interpreted their visual perceptions as evidence of their existence is no more appropriate than believing that the Earth is flat simply because an entire society exists which holds a flat-Earth belief.

Re: "I see shadow people quite often..."

If I look up and say, "the sky is blue", I have mis-spoken. The gases we refer to as "the sky" are not blue nor is the light striking those gases or even space beyond those gases. To speak accurately I must say, "I perceive the sky as being blue".

The same applies to the statement "I see shadow people quite often". The accurate statement is that you perceive that which you have labeled "shadow people", despite the evidence which offers no credibility to the suggestion that shadow people are other than a myth.

I have seen them on several occassions in the Old Oysterville cemetary. It was @ one time been an Indian Burial ground (until white settlers dug up and re-deposited the bodies at the bottom of a small hill on the other side of the fence from there resting place-Expossed!) There are stones in there from the 1600's.....Definitly loaded w/ Energy, and these Shadow People I think may be attracted to areas of High energies....I love to read about the Super Natural and always find more questions to ask! There were others with me and they had the same experiences as I did...they were non-believers until that night!

Shadow people do exist. They are all around us, most just don't pay attention. I have seen them at my house and at friends' houses. They generally hang around people or places with mass energy. Not harmful nor anything to worry about.

So is this just turning into a back-and-forth of whether everyone has 'seen' shadow-people or not? Has anyone come up with ideas as to what they are (and don't bother with the 'definition', I mean beyond that) or why they supposedly manifest? Something to enrich the discussion. I bring this up because even from a metaphysical standpoint, I can't imagine why such entities would appear and act as they supposedly do. "They dissolve into the nearest wall when you look at them?" Does this sound suspicious to anyone else, that they can only be perceived out of the corner of the eyes, where light can very easily play tricks on your vision?

Re: "Shadow people do exist. They are all around us, most just don't pay attention."

A simple enough assertion to make; but like other claims which contain nothing more than an assertion, just as easy to dismiss. Why do you suppose it is that despite the popularity of assertions of the supernatural, there's never any evidence to support any of it?

Perhaps we should all decide that the screechers and howlers of the shadow world are constantly screaming -- their voices ringing out in high-pitch tones, but only those with Tinnitus can hear them. Perhaps we should conclude that they will speak to us and distract our attention day-in and day-out, but only the autistic can detect the distraction. Perhaps we should all jump to the conclusion that they can steal our minds away and lead us to mental Nirvana but only those in comas are in-tune enough to go with them.

...or we could conclude what the evidence shows -- that shadow people don't exist and that you could easily make up any supposed supernatural entity and there would be those who would instantly proclaim to have had experiences with your new fictional being.

Real things leave real evidence. That's simply the nature of reality. So again; Why do you suppose it is that despite the popularity of assertions of the supernatural, there's never any evidence to support any of it?

You ever hear of poltergeists? As I stated before, the "shadow people" I've experienced mostly were the "ghost" of people that had died either by accident, or through violence and are looking for the way "home"... into the next "world" of their existence.

That's fine, but why would they 'dissolve' the second you look directly at them? If they could sense your presence beforehand, they either don't care that you're there, or they wouldn't appear. Looking directly at them should get no response from them, but from the description, it appears they are aware that you're looking at them and deliberately vanish when you look. Why?

When i'm staying in my parent's house I sometimes see flickers of dark shadows passing by, reflected in the photo frames, but I never see anything with the naked eye. But it's not a scary feeling, even the dogs don't bother about them. I think they just occur when the 'veil' between the worlds is thinnest.

Re: "You ever hear of poltergeists? As I stated before, the "shadow people" I've experienced mostly were the "ghost" of people that had died either by accident, or through violence and are looking for the way "home"... into the next "world" of their existence."

And you know this how? Poltergeists have never been confirmed to actually exist. Ghosts have never been confirmed to exist. People living on in another form after their death has never been confirmed. Attempting to verify or explain the unconfirmed by simply pointing to more things that are just as unconfirmed isn't really an explanation. It's simply an extension of unsupportable assertion.

There are numerous confirmed phenomena which can more fully and more demonstrably explain the movements and shadows people sometimes see in their peripheral vision. First we should note that only a tiny portion of human vision lies within the region known as the "fovea". Only that tiny range of angle is in sharp focus. Everything in our peripheral view is very much out of focus. Secondly, we all have tiny bits of debris which become caught in the fluid layer on the cornea of our eyes. They move about under the influence of gravity, blinking and the motion of the fluid layer itself. When one of these "floaters" drifts into our peripheral vision, we may perceive little more than movement. If we redirect our eye or turn our head, the floater is repositioned and we no longer see anything moving.

Close your eyes for a minute or two. Pay careful attention to the visual images you perceive. You don't perceive an even curtain of black. You see lighter areas, darker areas and distinct shapes. Are those things really there or is this simply a flaw in the way the eye functions? Why is it that people readily accept the things they perceive visually when their eyes are closed as simply being flaws in the working of the human eye but refuse to recognize the same reality when they think they perceive shadows or movement in their peripheral vision when their eyes are open?

The eye is a product of evolution and evolution doesn't wait for the optimal mutation before a trait is adopted and passed on to future generations. Any mutation, even one which is highly flawed, that enables an individual to better cope with an evolutionary challenge has a strong likelihood of being passed to future generations.

This is why we find that the optic nerve of the eye is attached, not to the side, and out of the way of vision, but directly in the middle of the sharpest area of focus (the fovea). The brain actually has to assemble the images we see around the blind spot created by this less-than-optimal arrangement. We see the same evolutionary answer when it comes to the throat of most species. We find a single passageway which splits off to two passageways; one for swallowing food and the other for the passage of air. This flawed design leads to the death of a number of individuals as the passageway for air becomes blocked by matter intended for the passageway for food. It's a system which works well generally, but is certainly far from optimal and contains a very notable flaw.

It is always an error to jump to conclusions of the supernatural when perfectly natural explanations provide a much better, more evidenced and more consistent explanation. Some have made this same mistake and mislead both themselves, and many others, by attempting to explain the perceptions of flawed biological functions as though those flaws did not exist.

When people suffer damage or anomalous operation of brain matter in the temporal lobe, they can often perceive visual images of things that don't really exist. We now understand this misfiring of nerve tissues as "epilepsy". But before such knowledge was gained, many attempted to explain these malfunctions as though there was no malfunction. They proclaimed that the visions resulting were real. If one looks to the Bible, they'll find references to Paul's ailments. If one applies the description to the symptoms of some forms of epilepsy, they'll find a match. Paul is noted for having a "vision" which is common to epilepsy affecting the temporal lobe. But rather than recognizing the ailment as the source of his vision, the people of his day assumed the things he saw were real, just as did he.

Another famous example is found in Ellen White (the founder of the Seventh Day Adventist religion). At the age of 12 she was struck in the head with a rock. The rock struck her in the temporal lobe. Until that time, she'd demonstrated no symptoms of epilepsy. But after the incident, she began to suffer common epileptic symptoms, including the visions common to those suffering epileptic activity in the temporal lobe. This resulted in her perception of a spiritual realm and the formation of the religion which she later founded.

Epilepsy is not a portal to another realm. It's an electro-chemical mis-functioning of brain tissue. What is perceived as the result of that mis-function is not real, it's a distortion of sensory input.

We can walk down a long, perfectly flat hallway and then suddenly stub our toe on the floor. We could proclaim that the floor suddenly rose under our foot, catching our toe mid-stride or we can recognize that our muscle-memory operation isn't perfect. It, like most other parts of the biological machine we call our "body", is flawed. Sometimes these flaws pop up and present us with anomalous operation or anomalous perceptions. If we refuse to accept that, and instead reach for explanations under the assumption that the body operates perfectly, our explanations will be flawed and false. That's a far better fit for the perception of shadow people than any explanation which simply extends into ever-more proclamations of entities never (despite tens of thousands of years of claims), having been confirmed to actually exist.

Obviously, my 2 postings in this thread... where I explained myself meant nothing to you.
I have seen, felt and talked to dispossessed spiritual presences on more than one occassion.
At the time, I was not under the influence of any type of drugs, prescription or otherwise. When I asked other people that were familiar with the location they confirmed that someone had died there.

Does this explain my point to you, now.

Odie

Re: "I have seen, felt and talked to dispossessed spiritual presences on more than one occassion."

When you close your eyes, you see things that aren't real.

Gray Spots Illusion

Do you see the gray spots where the black lines intersect? They're not real. It's just a flaw in the way your eyes work. Your brain is at the mercy of the flaws in your vision, hearing, touch, taste and smell. Just because you interpret something to be real, doesn't make it real.

People who thought they had undergone surgery to improve circulation to their heart felt a reduction in pain, indicating that the procedure was a success. The only problem is, they were part of a study and only thought they'd received the surgical procedure. People undergoing drug treatment for chronic arm pain felt a reduction in that pain and also felt rather severe side-effects from the drug. However, they were part of a study on placebo-effect rather than chronic arm pain as they had been advised, and the drug they were taking was completely inert cornstarch, pressed into pill form.

Have a friend or family member extend their index finger and hold it a quarter of an inch above the skin on the bridge of your nose right between your eyes. Concentrate on their finger being there for a minute or two. Can you feel it touching you? Most people feel a very definite sensation. And yet there is no contact between their finger and the skin on the bridge of your nose.

Ever stand too close to fireworks or gun fire and then here a ringing in your ears? The ringing isn't real. It indicates that the sensory system of your ears has been overwhelmed and damaged. You hear it, but there is no real sound to be heard. It's an inaccurate perception.

Again; people tend to believe their own perceptions, even when they know they can go to Disneyland, to a magic act, to a movie with lots of crawling bugs and they'll end up seeing things they know aren't real, feeling things they know aren't real and sometimes even hearing things that aren't real. If one assumes that their sensory perceptions are always accurate, then they will likely produce inaccurate explanations in an attempt to explain those perceptions. The key is in realizing that your perceptions can be fooled, either intentionally or accidentally. Our sensory organs are imperfect. They will sometimes tell us things that aren't real. That's is from where ideas about the supernatural arise.

Do you think for a moment that people in ancient Mesopotamia didn't think they were conversing with many of their ancient pagan gods? Where are those gods today? They're mythology; because they never existed in the first place.

I can feel their presence if I think about it long enough. I can feel their presence, the presence of Peter Pan, fairies, demons, ghosts, pets that died years ago, strange people I've never met, elephants, tigers, Leprechauns... pretty much anything. All it takes is thinking about them being around a bit too much.

We're creatures of evolution and we're potential prey. So it stands to reason that if we worry or concentrate enough about anything, we'll become highly alert to whatever threat we might be focused upon. That doesn't mean the threat is real.

So of course they've never hurt you. The closest you'll ever come is if you allow yourself to get so spooked by thinking they're real that you end up trying to run away and trip over something. They've never harmed anyone -- EVER! They've never been confirmed to exist -- EVER! They're imaginary.

Well who believe in, dont do it. But who don't believe in, I brought one simple most exercise tat make them believe in. But do honestly as per the way it shown no diverting from it. and Don't lie that i have done and found nothing. Its most interesting exercise.

when you alone in the home, putthe door close of the gate of the house, but do keep all windows open and it should not hamper the project by swinging voice.

The requirement: the pic on a good mag, of very vamping eyes (most charming and attracting most eyes) on a beautiful girl's faceand pic must be to the size of a4 page with lovely hue of the girl and at most the face upto chest (breast portion) be that it be nicely looked in dim light too. This is general exercise which is not explicit.

How to do it:

you must be alone in whole house. at 1 am start this exercise. put this pic on bed. the room's windows must be opened. sit on the bed. gaze on the pic's eyes for five minute with most love with cathod light is on. after that start little pulling the eyes towards you and do it for few minutes. after this change the method. do pull any entity from sphere through that lovely eyes... yes you can do it baby. please do it. after 20 minutes of this all, do off cathod light and put the dim light on and let few part of your room shine a little with moon light if it do not come inside, dont worry, its no matter. after dim light is on, sit again on bed, just two feet away from the pic in very relaxed position. now the actual exercise start from here and earlier was all worm ups. lay your self in a position that your concentration on pic do not get disturbed, if at teh time the elbow is needed to the relaxed position you can give it on bed.

Now start gazing at pic and pulling other entity of lovely babe from the sphere. start the pull from ease and light pull to deep and vey forceful pull. in between this your body must not change the relaxed position and the pulling a strange spirit of a babe be very forcefull through the eyes but not with strain, it be with love.

dont let your eyelids blink very much. it do it for few times in whole exercise, its okay. but if don't find any result in 60 minutes of real exercise in dimlight, abandon it. I am sure you will get result within 25 to 60 minutes and will remember this whole life. if you come through harmful experience in morning immediately go to the spiriutal cleansing master.

General Warning Here:
I am not responsible for any bad happening with you. I pray that it do not become life taking incidence.

And now that I look at these posts, I find that people's accounts generally don't even match the description given in the definition. This is the problem with ambiguous terms like "shadow people". Someone hears a familiar story, they tell their own version of something similar, and before you know it, we've got about 50 composite definitions of what shadow people are, and half of them don't even match the description given at the beginning of the thread.

I find it interesting to note that in the face of perfectly rational explanations and demonstrations which clearly show that what one perceives and what is real are often two different things, people will turn to desperation and pretend as though no such explanations and demonstrations have been provided, and blindly continue to make the same failed and fruitless assertions, as though lead to do so as zombies controlled by an unseen force.

It is at least, telling.

In order to get a comforting response, one needs to pose as a scared person, one needs to "stand pat" with the claim, even in lite of a demonstration of what appeared to be "Paranormal".

As a hobby spook, I have practical experience, and observations that support this.

Re: "Well I was laying in bed one night and I hadn't fallen asleep yet so as I'm laying there someone or something knocks at my bedroom door..."

Why so vague?

You leap from stating that it wasn't someone that you knew, to stating that it was "paranormal". How do you arrive at such a conclusion? What was other than natural about the experience?

Shadow people/children/ghosts/spirits/aperitions..I believe are all to exist on some plane and dimention.
I know that some people are more sensitive then others when it comes to seeing them that I believe too.

I know that I have had my fair share of visitations for shadows and the like. But I dont really feel that its anything to kick up much fuss over.

This could also have very well been a hypnogogic hallucination. I have them once in a while, and they're quite common. One specific time I started dreaming that I was in a car, driving with a few friends, while I was also aware that I was lying on my couch. Does this mean that I was in both places at once, or that it was anything paranormal? No. It was my mind playing a very vivid trick on me.

How do I arrive at such a conclusion? What was other than natural about the experience? Well one I don't think that anyone that I know would do such a think because they all know to just walk into my room unless my door is closed and I rearly close my door cause I have always slept with it open and that night it was open. And as for the hypnotic hallucination's come why would I be having hallucination's when I was fully awake just lying in bed???

Firstly, it's hypnogogic, rather than hypnotic. The hypnogogic state is the state immediately before you fall asleep. At this stage, you rarely know that you're falling asleep, and for all intents and purposes, are wide awake. It's a relatively unknown phenomenon, but it's quite common. It's similar to a waking dream, but at a lighter stage of sleep, much closer to a fully awake state.

Similar to this is the hypnopompic state, or the state immediately as you wake up. Have you ever woken up but still been stuck, at least partially, in a dream? This is similar to what's called a hypnopompic hallucination. Your mind is working at a much less-than-optimal level and it's common to dream in this state.

Reflections of light or dim images of darkness out the corners of our eyes. shadow people lost in the realms between two planes huh reminds me of the fable peter pan when he had lost his shadow in wendy's room.

I have yet to see or even here of this till now. but my mind wonders if this could be possible or illusions of the eyes and brain.

As I child i had gone to bed late and was ready to sleep on my stomach; when something grabbed the back of my head. when i rose up nothing was there. boogyman or just emotions and feelings in the nerves? huh or is this shadow people.

People have a tendency to craft entities to fear. Some to present the entity, and then marginslize their reaction to the same crafted entity.

others do so to scare others

still others do so to draw comfort from those the share their encounter with said crafted entity.

Then there are those who just don't want to be left out.

All this info is from observations of a hobby ghost.

I too have had this happen to me before, however, I kept dismissing it as a natural occurrence. I am assuming you have a wooden bedroom door? I know for a fact depending on the current weather conditions wood has a tendency to expand or make noises. During the winter time I hear loud bangs coming from the attic, but it's just the rafters "snapping" because of the temperature.

Back to the topic of shadow people. I've read a few accounts claiming that shadow people have been seen out of the "corner of the eye". Let me try to explain this as best as I can: everything gives off an energy and when people claim to see something move out of the corner of their eye, that's just energy coming off an object that just happens to be there. I see things out of the corner of my eye all the time, but that doesn't mean it's a shadow person.

New furniture, or items pressed against windows pointing in the direction of a street, especially in rural areas( where cars drive with high beams). Ways to accidently make crawling shadows that a restless person will notice.

A novel haunting effect as well.

Honorable Keyriel your expereience not the hallucination at all.

I too had same type of experience and my whole family surprised with that occurance.

I tell you my experience.

my whole family (my wife and a kid) watching TV and i was at comp table.

suddenly from one wooden cupboard which was any reptile proof and rat proof, the voice of beats like some one doing goldsmith work in the cupboard's one drawer, started beating the wood in that fashion. It surprised me and drew my attention, i saw my whole family was looking that cupboard and myself to started watching the drawer from which the voice was coming. I ased wife do you hearing. she tld me yes it is strange. i told her wait for 55 minutes and after 6-7 minutes it went off. oh my subconscious getting dubbed while writing this incidence. after that i opened the drawer no hole in it and no any hammer or instument in it except the cloth it was used for cloth only. and I looked the upside and down side drawers too and after that back side of the cupboard too. there is no cockroaches in my house coz my wife do pesticide every month and that day morning home was peste controlled, home lizards and rats can not enter in it.

no evil forces in the home.

many more experiences i do have in my this vast 41 years life. I tell you I stopped all my psychic exercises long ago coz the light started blinking due to variation of my thoughts. this light blinking phenomena still a strange to me. by the time it weaken now and blinks only when i am in very deep thoughts and thoughts swift from one to another. I wish to ask answer to this phenomena too buti dont want some one laugh at this my experience. its serious. it is such a powerful that impacts on cathod ray tubes (tube lights which supposed to be not much varried like bulb unless much variation of electricity.

My practice was finding unnatural shadow activity at remote party spots, then (usually around a campfire, or barrel fire) tell the shadow people story,
Peoples abstract/ obscure relation fills in the rest.

Have I seen shadow people? I have summoned shadow people.

I have heard that seeing the shadow of a person in your peripheral vision is a symptom of sckitzophernia. Seeing things from the corner of you eye can be a little unnerving for some people (Talk about paranoia). Perhaps 'Shadow people' have evolved from folklore and turned into a creation of fear and imagination.
