Ever since seeing the preview for 'Jennifer's Body', I wonder about others rituals that have gone awry.
Have you had one go horribly wrong?
If so what was the ritual, what was 'suppose' to happen, what when wrong, why? Was it ever fixed or did it have to run it's course?
Or if it hasn't personally happened to you, tell us about someone you know experience, or just a story you heard.
Also, do you believe (group) ritual magick is stronger than solitary ritual magick?
i have never had one gone wrong and yes i belive you are stronger as a group but only if you are a circle or a coven of some sort if you are not and just doing it with a bunch of people i dont think it will work as good or be as strong
Unless the ritual is of the higher magik(s), they will not go as bad as the movie did. Since it is "just" a movie.
Casting a circle, invoking the spirit of any alignment IE good or evil, never goes bad. This is what casting the circle is for before a ritual takes place. Experienced casters already know that a ritual will not work without a circle being cast, as well a circle protects the caster from whatever ailments come along. In other words, it is a two way street. One does not work without the other. So by default, invocation cannot go "wrong" because one cannot work without the other. Nuff said.
A group who knows what they are doing raising energy, never have a problem....unless the group does not use it for the highest and the best.
A Sister coven of a branch that I am in...did a spell for someone who wanted to banish a person from them.
The person who was in the middle of the circle did well, but the other's starting feeling his negativity that he lost hit them.
I do believe it is the group and waht they put out.
If the feeling of what the group was wanting to cast was even remotely negative IE at least one individual thinking in the negative, then the ritual has already gone wrong. I am wondering who within said "Coven" had intentional negative motivations?
Then I came to my senses... Banishing in itself is a negative effect casting. Therefore, of course the group would feel the negative energies, the spell was the invocation of such energies to take place, they were simply reflecting from the caster.
I agree 100%. The Sister coven is not like the one I am in.
We do not do banishing spells to rid one's feelings of a ex.
We celebrate the wheel of the year.
Not be called together to banish.
I know about circle casting.
But what if the ritual was somehow altered.
Like: A word was pronounced wrong, or an entire sentence? The wrong deity was called upon?
Somebody purposefully tainted the alter or tools?
Somebody put their energies towards an opposite effect?
Or they didn't go into detail about their goal or didn't think of the consequences for asking the deity of certain things?
etc
I'm just intrigued and curious about this subject.
~Bloodmother~ I am going to answer these one at a time...
1. "A word was pronounced wrong, or an entire sentence? The wrong deity was called upon?"
The purpose of a ceremony or ritual casting is not a verbal transcript of perfection. The words are only there for focus on whats being considered as subject matter for the casting. Of course, the dieties do listen to what is said, but they do not care for accuracy as long as the words and meanings are understood.
2. "Somebody purposefully tainted the alter or tools?"
Once a tool has been "blessed" so to speak as this would include cleansings as well, they are already bound before the ritual, especially if they are used quite often by the caster in general. There is no way the energies would be tainted in any way, even if someone else were to touch and or use the tools prior to the ritual itself. the energies would lay dorment until they are properly used and handled.
3. "Somebody put their energies towards an opposite effect?"
This would be an area of preciseness. It only takes one individual think of a negative thought to have certain "other" energies present. The circle automantically knows what to do as it is a protective barrier. The influence of that one individual would be banished. It would be felt momentarily, but the positive would out weigh the negative in the long run. Ritual and invocation is a very powerful practice.
4. "Or they didn't go into detail about their goal or didn't think of the consequences for asking the deity of certain things?"
The caster does not need to go into full detail regarding their wants and or desires. Though the consequences for anything in the negative is usually psycho sematic, once said deity knows what the caster desires, then "thy will be done" so to speak. The ritual does not need to be perfect in order for it to succeed. The delivery is there just for symbolic purposes, to add a certain "power" or energy to the incantation itself.
As long as the caster believes the invocation will work, they will have nothing to worry about in the end. It is all about "faith" or so says the preacher to their deacons and audience within the chapel walls.
When I was little I performed a spell to give someone a nose bleed. The thing is, I couldn't get it to stop when I wanted to. They almost died. I have never performed an offensive spell ever since and I never will.
May I point out that the initial post referred to a scene in a movie?
Yeah, I posted about that but the post was deleted as usual, since one of the dominars apparently did not like the tone of the post itself... Oh well.
Just as with the movie: The Craft, one cannot just duplicate a movie invocation since the incantations are not correct, nor are the symbols displayed. Nothing will happen if any movie ritual is mimmicked, this is not how these things work.
When I was a bit more . . . involved with the occult, I tried some things here and there. I found that messing with powerful forces was not worth the karmic gamble. I tried to take too much into my spirit and I was penalized a few times for it (or at least that's how I attributed the meaning to a certain series of events after I had cast certain magick).
I can look up the exact date I performed my first ritual.
Date: 06.25.02
Day: Monday
Phase of Moon: Full
Weather conditions: hot/muggy
Time: 23:20
Emotions entering into ritual: passivity, minor depression, understanding, neutral
Physical state: neutral, awake yet tired
Through the meditative state I ultimately achieved, I made myself "visible" to certain forces. Later that night, I received my first hagging assault as I slept.
I believe one can call that a ritual gone awry (not because it was not done properly, but because the participant was weak)
The worst thing I ever watched was a bunch of skeptics deciding it would be cool to mess with a Ouija board.
Three were high school football famers, and when they mocked Satan using it, They ended up being flashed so hard by the force that three went into violent convulsions, one of which was hospitalized for over a week.
Their parents burned the board and the kid was never the same. he could no longer play ball because of it and ruined his shot at a college league draft.
There was no way three kids took convulsions at the same time like that, one yes, but three noway!
Never touched another Ouija board since!
When I was 7 years old I did a ritual to summon demons and open a door for them to get revenge on my abuser.
But it turned against me and when really bad, for over 30 years from that day I had demons after me, physically hurting me and emotionally harassing me. I had burses, it was a constant fight. Then one day I was lucky I met a person who helped me and close the door I had open for the demons, and lock them back in. now I am free of them and living a normal life.
I would just like to say that the sole reason of being afraid of something going wrong, is why i do not attempt rituals of any kind.
i'm a firm believer in the power of ritualistic magic and things like that and i believe that only a very experienced professional should attempt things like that.
and i do belive group magic is stronger than solitary magic.
I personally haven't had anything go wrong. But I do believe the Ouji Board is a doorway to evil. I also believe in the power of one and the power of a group. I think it all depends n the faith in the ritual.
I've never had a ritual go wrong, but I've never done it in a group. While the power cone may be more powerful with more people, there are obvious disadvantages to group rituals.
1. Everyone must be in one accord...there cannot be any discord among the participants.
2. Some people are just more comfortable doing rituals alone or with a partner.
3. As with any group, there are those that have ulterior motives other than raising power for the intent of the group. There are those that are drawn to group rituals in the hopes of the Great Rite...if you know what that is, I don't need to explain, if you don't, message me and I'll explain lol.
As for me, I prefer doing my magical workings alone or with my husband and partner.
I hate to admit this but I tried a love spell around the age of 14 and I ended up getting raped several times over by many differant people and Iam now and always have been a magnet for every tom dick and harry to ask me out and stalk me and all I wanted was Love I dont believe there is a way to undo this spell its been so long I dont even remember the book I used or how and what I used lesson people dont play with fire cause you will get burnt know what your doing dont dabble I been in persuit of a cure for 28 years and I have educated my self in every way shape and form so when I do spells and rituals they will always be right unless Iam ignorant enough to not follow every step :)
I would not say rituals go wrong, per say...but there have been a number, particularly one recent example where the out put was different from the input and caused mental instability and what would other wise be considered "insane" by even the most staunch Magus.
However that being the case, it is possible for the unexpected outcome to manifest as something "wrong" or beyond the normal scope of how it was supposed to go. The perpetual "oops" factor is one that must be known for what it is.
As far as the individual above whose spell kept working as the young one nearly died of blood loss. This is not as one might consider a negative result, but one that was the aimed improperly with a release time for the soul effected.
Though I must say, what is learned from ones own unexpected developments is one that is worth its weight in gold, when the debris clear away.
When a ritual go wrong, something was not in tune with the ritual. Everything, from the invocation of the circle to the picking of the candles, must be selected with cautions. To perform a rituals, you must know how to open and how to close a circle. If something go wrong, now, find someone that know the subject better, to fix the mess.
I'm just a level one mason in the occult arts, but I do know you can get back flashed and have Rites go wrong. There is only a three day window of ritreiving and grounding a spell put out into the Universe.
Most have them go wrong because they use bought books from stores which is hog wash B.S.
It's against Occults to publish true arts, so learning everything before sending out a spell rite is very important.
***TEN FOLD LAW***
Well, my friends and I sorta performed a ritual... without knowing it!
And it all went through with benefits that have lasted to this day
~Featheredman~, you just opened a can of worms for yourself. Please describe why youi call yourself a "level one mason in the occult arts."
I would love to hear your answer as it pertains to this thread when it comes to ritualistic information, as well as the fact that it also alludes to a certain craft as well.
How old is your father, ~Featheredman~?
Why do you need to inquire of someones father's age to require his participation in the Craft Arts? No one here knows or asks how old you are!
We are not talking about Masonery in the sense of Architech or college bound teachings degrees.
Witch Craft Arts can start as young as before puberty based on ones talents, insights, Esp. and more.
As Sire imaginesinwords explained, why do you instist on starting issues with everyones posts?
There for a masonery level one in some occults are just learning proper incantation rites, not yet doing them in full.
No different than the levels here sort to speak.
Calling back Ritual Rites has nothing to do with ones age here.
If you don't practice or believe in the art then simply state that fact of yourself and let others beliefs at rest.
As for the post its self, you can perform alone or in a group, calling back a Rite however can only be done by the person sending it out. And it must be grounded properly.

I respond: *Clears throat* Listen young man, I do not ask the "fathers age question" for the simplicity of knowing ones age. It alludes to a masonic question of "proof that the individual is infact a brother"
Neither does masonry have anything to do with witchcraft, nor college fraternity issues. I do not know where you get your information from, but apparently it involves the wrong sources.
I have not read any posts relating to ~Images~ prodding me about any of my instigant posts, and furthermore, I call members out when I smell B.S. in general.
If indeed there are "masonic" conotations when involving any esoteric practices, please provide documentation that represents your claim.
I will not allude to any of my knowledge regarding the esoteric ways, since it is basically "none of your business" to begin with.
I do not know who has been teaching you, nor your influence... But do not call me out or I will set you symbol. You seem to be the type such as ~Featherman~ and his aquantance ~Romamarienightwing~ as well as you might just be part of their small little circle. This I do not care, since the lot seem to judge everyone and teach before learning all ways, instead of just one path.
Endnote: If anything were Freemason about the esoteric, then it is for the simple fact that the founder(s) of the practices plagurized the Freemasonic teachings into their paths just to put a bit of credibility into their "art."
Soulshroud - I only have one thing to say to you - You have one hell of an attitude problem in here. You obviously need an attitude adjuster, only I cannot be bothered to give it to you. I have better things to do than argue the toss with a pillock like yourself.
Then why bother posting such nonesense? If you or anyone within this site has a problem with the way(s) I post in order to show people that they seem to be full of it most times, then I am sure the Dominars will do something about it.
If you do not like my posts, do not read them. As far as the "attitude adjuster", I am an adult and not a child, do NOT patronise me. I always call members out on their B.S. because some of us within this site know it IS B.S. to begin with. Which is why, most of the time... My posts are not deleted. As well, I have several members messaging me every week saying that they agree with everything I have stated within the forum threads.
Don't get your nickers into a bunch due to some meager little posts. Complain to the peanut gallery box if you have a problem. I am sure the peanuts need to company.
Next time, use messenger instead of wasting thread space.
(My apologies to the Dominars for this retaliative post.)
WHOA!!!!
I don't want my thread to be the subject of fighting and such.
Although, I do know where soulshroude is coming from. A good friend of mine is part of the Masonic Fraternity, and he gets pretty miffed when someone is claiming to "wield the hammer" as he puts it. lol
I'm also glad to see everyone's interesting replies!!!
When I was younger, about 13/14, I did a love spell to make my best friend, who was a quarter back in middleschool to fall in love with me. I did it because I REALLY did like him, but I craved more popularity. I was popular among "the outcasts", but not among his social circle............
The spell I got from a grimoire in an abandon house, said it took about a year after casting to come into being.
It worked, but when he finally wanted me like that, I didn't want him.
And he stalked me for a bit, the grimoire said to tell him that I did a spell to make him want me, and the power would wane and fade.
So I did, and it worked. But up until it faded, he got psycho scary. Constantly coming over, calling, emailing me, following me, he even followed me into the school bathrooms a couple of times and cornered me in a stall trying to kiss me, and other things.........I learned my lesson after that.
As a Freemason, I actually understand your friends comment "wielding the hammer." Makes me laugh...
As far as thinking or knowing if a spell or ritual has gone wrong, you got a bit lucky. Most times it takes the casting to run its course before the effect(s) fade(s).
I guess, with the perceptive eye, one may relate the "three fold law" as your suiter was said to have stalked you before and after you told him about what you had done.
Learn from experience and not from story telling. Only then may awareness for detail become clear.
Yeah, it was pretty lucky. Most people I know, it was love spells, beauty spells, justice spells, binding spells, and calling on the elementals that wennnnnnnnt wrong.
All negative castings have the negative affect, I am surprised most individuals do not realize that it works BOTH ways. For the caster as well as the castee.
1st . of all . Jennifers Body is a movie nothing else . But as with anything you have to be careful about what type of energy you out during a spell . Even with positive energy and good intentions spells can go wrong . Basically you have to be pretty anal in during the rituals perfectly . Remembering your messing with mother nature nad the unknown . Just be careful period . You have to know what your doing .
I personally try to avoid performing rituals, even ones that can bring out "good" results for myself or other people. I avoid them because even the slightest bit of negativity can cause the ritual to go awry. I am a firm believer that whatever you put forth comes back to you thrice fold, and that whatever you send out into the universe must run its course; you cannot control what is "supposed" to happen.
As far as the amount of strength when comparing solitary rituals to group rituals, it comes down to a matter of quantity versus quality: just because there are more people involved in the ritual does not necessarily mean the energy is stronger. You could have a group of thirteen people preparing for a ritual but they could each be weak for a various amount of reasons, whether they are just starting out in ritual magick or are weakened by the stresses of daily life.
However, if you get one strong individual who has practiced rituals on a regular basis, clears his/her mind of extraneous thoughts or energies, and is ready to handle the experience of performing a ritual - the results could prove to be more productive than if a group of weakened people performed the same ritual.
I have had my inexperience with rituals that did go wrong what i think is it could have been the intent behind the ritual the atmosphere of the people with in the circle that might haven made it go wrong
just remember that the intent is the most iportant thing and that you yourself have to belive that it going to work allong with those helping you do the ritual
many Blessing and I hope the next time it goes much Better
It was not the ritual,
It was you can say reverse center focal point.
I have to explain how it done nd how did it impact.
Those days I was reading mags (1992-3) one night while having dinner. I saw one full page advertisement with only two beautiful most and tracting most eyes. The mischief led me mind to do one exercise to see impact. after dinner i saw one nice movie and then entered in my bedroom, coz mom and dad went to their bedroom. those days I was alone in my room coz my wife went to her mom's place. I was 24 that year.
I did off the tube light and did put the zero power bulb on.
I opened that page of the mag having nice pic of two eyes full page size. I started gazing the eyes ratina in center focal point manner, but concentration was on the any entity in the sphere aiming to pull them in he room to visual appearance through pulled through those eye centers.
after 10 minutes the bulb blinked erratically and after 15 minutes it tripped. I shocked and feared little and put on the tube light. and checked the bulb it was okay.
again concetrated the eyes and tried to pull the entity. again after the 15 minutes the bulb tripped. I did try third time. but this time with other side bulb (there was two zero power bub in my room). And this time within 5 minutes the bulb fused and warned me to stop the exercise immediately. Those time I was not believing in he ghosts or entities. I thought this will work as blank chit if the entity tales are true.
But I was really mad. It fused my bulb. May be coz of kinetic energy or may be coz of any entity i don't know.
In my experiences with rituals, the only time it has gone wrong has been with others involved. My rituals alone have been successful for what you put your mind to you can achieve.
Here is what recently happened to me.
I am conforming to neo-paganism. One evening I lit a candle and set about to make an offering of myself (no dirty thoughts please) to the mother and father. I put all of my energy into reaching them. Instead of just praying I inadvertently place myself into a ritual attitude. Now I realize that because there was no circle to protect me, there is not telling what intercepted and what I offered myself to. Now, I am fighting an attachment.
It definitely depends on attitude and energy as to what you attract without a circle to protect you. Especially if you are solitary.
