what do you think of the therory that when we die we go down a long tunnel to the light. I have been ready about the life after death therory and people that have died and been brought back. Some of the stories are very interesting but with no proof are we to believe their word? is it just a chemical reaction with the lack of oxigen thrown in the mix? Is there something more then just dieing? is the soul reencarnated? Is there a higher power? Please lets discuss these questions I am curious
Well Procella,I have died twice, and I never saw a light, much less a tunnel. So I cannot say anything as far as a description.
However,I do recall calling out to my mom to get me out of there in my mind, and when I woke up five days later in ICU with peeps all around,it was weird because I didnt remember how I had gotten there.Got up and shuffled to the bathroom that evening and there was a handprint clear as day on my butt.I asked if I had been hit and no one had hit me.
BTW,I do feel that the phenomenon you speak of is caused by chemical reactions and the body shutting down.
thank you O, when I had my son, I remember everything that was said and the doctors say there is no way I could have heard any of it cause I was already under. I recall the doctor saying to his nurse that Jason would never be normal cause he didn't have enough oxigen at birth. My son has CP now and is 20 years old. he can't stand or walk and he can't speak. I can remember the doctor saying my heart rate started dropping as my sons slowed down and almost stopped.
Im really sorry to hear that.
But it is possible that you could have heard them while under a general anesthesia. Its rare, but it happens sometimes.
The theory of going down a tunnel when we die can be backed by many different things.
Stories about people being brought back are very interesting and there is actual documented proof. They describe things that were going on that they would not otherwise know unless they were looking down before they move on.
I do not believe it is a chemical reaction due to lack of oxygen but the body feeling at peace and being guided towards the light.
For some there are more to dying and for others no. Some believe that the soul is reincarnated while others do not. I think that some parts of the soul are reincarnated while other parts of the soul move on to a higher plane or whatever.
When my dad died the first time they bought him back and after being in a coma for 4 days he woke up and and told us he was in a small boat in the middle of a lake and could see a wooden walk way through mist but the boat wouldnt move towards it and he was just stuck floating there but could here us all talking to him then all of a sudden he was pulled towards the walk way and could get out onto it and thats when he woke up I asked him if he saw a tunnel but he said no and told me about the lake.Just thought I would share that.
I don't know what causes the phenomenon; I do know that when I was under anesthesia as a nine year old, I had that floating sensation - I saw myself on the operating table, surrounded by doctors and nurses...strange.
We have had alot of disscussions on this.It is not unusual for one to hear and see things when dying due to the release of the chemical known as Dimethyltryptamine..DMT for short,or otherwise known as the spirit molecule. Rather than type it all out again,I will leave you with a video taken form my journal about this chemical and how it affects the brain. Also,if you run a forum search you will find plenty of threads on it.It is an interesting subject.
i was having a conversation about this with an old shaman friend of mine. he believes it is the same tunnel that is used when shaman's do healing work. apparently there is tunnel in front of our bodies and he said that sometimes people stare at it and don't even realize it.
Err I lost my first post..
When we faint we have a simular occurance, when training pilots in centrifuge at 8Gs they experience the same occurance.
When my heart crashed I had an Endorpine Rush, one that made me feel detatched (numb), I then went into a deep dream, one far more intense then an LSD, or Mushroom Trip (yet comparable). In hindsight, I can see how each individuals "software" helps that Finale Hallcination. I can also reason that anyone personally conflicted over their "software" could create static over their Finale'. Notable an individual that is rigid in mind, or concious could well restrict the flow of the biochemical cocktail.
Oh dear. I was going to say something about the chemicals in the back brain .. and, Dabbler beat me to it!
**Bows**
The look on the faces of the pilots in the Centrifuge is very telling to the over all sensation they experience.
I have seen that look on the faces of the few glipmses of faces after a person was knocked out.
A marvelous reaction the body creates, to disengage us mentally from a potentially tramatic occurance. With first response becoming more involved there will be more recoverers from the threshhold. Break Throughs in resucitation tech are just now making it into practice.
NaP, an age old question that still boggles the mind to a point. I do believe that it is possible for you to be able to hear the doctors when your son was born. LIke Oceanne, said it does happen but is really rare.
I am uncertain of the causes that are surrounding this phenomenon but I would venture to say that there is a connection with the chemicals in the brain as Dabb and a few others have pointed out. I have often wondered if there was a reaction to the medications that the doctors use when someone is being treated. Meaning that if our body reacted differently to the medication would it cause the feelings of being floaty or something along those lines.
After researching many differant aspects of the quantum mechanics in dimensions and the spirit world (ethereal plane), I have come to a conclusion that all of society reacts differantly to the outcome of the veil being lifted from their eyes (death). Some would travel to the tunnel dimension as being a sort of gateway between worlds, while others would travel to a cloud type of dimension, while others still would travel to a darker dimension though not nessessarily evil in context to dark.
I think the energies that are transmuted from every individual has frequencies that lead them to differant locations altogether, this is why no two near death experiences are the same.
Very true. It would also stand to reason as well with the heighted energies that some could be the same as well. I wonder though if the energies would transfer to another realm or another plane of existance altogether that would be unlike what we are used to seeing here in the physical place?
That has already been concluded. Base on the dimensional belief in ghosts/spirits. Since they are akin to a dimension beyond the 3rd, it takes someone with the awareness of the 4th dimension or beyond to have basic communications with them.
all this is quite interesting and giving me some wonderful insight into my questions. thank you all for helping me answer all my questions.
After seem many people, which were "dead" and then, brought back into life, due to the electrical shock, giving at the ER were I do work, I never hear none of them talk about the tunnel. Just for your info.
If anybody has really "died" before, then they would remember standing on a clear, sandy beach and see the ocean... and beyond that, seeing a sunrise/sunset. From my own personal experience.
I never saw a tunnel...fear and doubt as I was slipping away. I never offically died though just close, very close.
HUH?
"If anybody has really "died" before, then they would remember standing on a clear, sandy beach and see the ocean... and beyond that, seeing a sunrise/sunset.'
Interesting Gordon. But yes,I really did die twice. To the point where they called my family and told them to come say goodbye. But I didnt see anything.
Gordon, very presumptious of you! The idea that someone would belittle an individuals personal "vision".. that is just so damn rude!
i have heard that the people who believe in christianity and such see a white light with a tunnel and heard jews see a blue light but not sure if thats true or what..i have also heard that it is like a magnetic force which pulls the spirit towards it,i believe in reincarnation i think it's possible and think there is some kind of higher force or energy than us a creator if you will perhaps in a form of a god or goddess..i am open to the possibilities.
Yup... I've had that tunnel fealing before, as I've passed out (diabetes). You feel like you are falling forward through a tunnel even if you are falling backward. It doesn't really look like light though... more like looking through a fish eye lense or something.
I've never died that I am aware of.
I think that light is probably the brains way of interpreting what it cannot process. The mind is capable of grasping it, but the brain finds symbols that it can associate with the nonphysical experience.
If you combine the two experiences, you get a powerful light at the end of a tunnel OBE/NDE... but sometimes, the brain does not see a light, but rather a beach.
Whatever floats your surfboard, dude.
so I have another question then do you think religous beliefs would influence how we percieve death, if or when we get brought back. like Kglitterous was saying, christains see a white light jews see a blue light.
That is if the individuals thinking process and energies coincide with one another and change accordingly. Thus emotional ties with the energy around the individual IE empathic abilities.
A purpose for faith, is to subscribe to, and "upload' ones 'software'. Spectulation, and personal conviction are a means to fabricate ones Finale', my personal "vision" granted me insight into how I was living, and how if I wanted to be better prepared the next time.. how to condition myself. One thing is I will keep in context my perspective, and not allow others to intimidate their "software" onto others.
Too many people seek to convince others of what they believe, when it is themselves they need to be concerned about, sure share your beliefs with others it will provide them closure if you die. Imagine though if a person has a basic perspective set, and someone comes and slaps paint on their canvas.
It is all open for spectulation as to "where".
There is no mystery as to how, the body becomes unable to produce a current to funtion.
My wonder is how the spark is engaged.. not in how it
ceases.
I had two out of body experiences caused by general anaesthetics.
Both times I saw them operating on me, I wasn't floating above, I was standing near...When I was being pushed to recovery on the trolley thingy I remember opening my eyes and looking at myself walking next to me on the trolley.
Which is odd because I asked if I had opened my eyes and I was told yes...so I could of been experiencing an hallucination and yet I took far longer than normal to naturally awake. I had to be woken by the nurses. I think I was enjoying the sleep...or depth of sleep!
I wonder if there is a connection between out of body and the tunnel feeling!
I watched a programme a few years ago which stated the the tunnel and light were to do with the brain shutting down...I have not read all the comments here yet.
I'm almost thinking maybe depending on what you believe such as seeing whatever color tunnels, or nothing at all, or whatever you "believe" to be heaven or your outcome after this life.......that what you "see" when dying is to help comfort you during death or your transformation if you will?
Ban, I suspected a dose of endorpines numbed my body.. this resulting in a sensation much more pronounced then a depravation chamber. It is indeed a rather eire feeling at first.. it remined me in hindsight of my experience with sleep paralisis, only not as jolting in occurance.
Dabbler that video is great I had forgotten how funny it was.
I have not experienced sleep paralysis, well none that I have been aware of...apart from being frozen in a old repeating dream with a bloody great lorry coming towards me!
I must admit it seems plausible that it is a form of defence mechanism of the brain..
wow dab that was funnier then hell.... I like penn and stiller
I think it is not that there are different experiences for different belief systems; but that the belief system a person holds to affect the rationalization of the brain, apon conciousness.
