I have read many a post on here with alot of you mentioning having a guide or a teacher. ( I did a subject search and could not come up with this topic there). How is it that you found this person. How did you meet and were able to discuss the things that you wanted to learn or be taught about yourself. I ask this question, as I am still looking. I have had many questions answered for me, but many are left as just that, questions. It is very lonely when you do not have that face to face with someone you can trust.
Had long term friends that introduced me to another friend one had, and she became our guide and teacher until her untimely death......after that, I have been on my own. Miss having a friend that was a teacher and guide.
Mostly it has been a lot of different sources some friends and family. But mostly it has been using my own head.
well my area only has one place where you can get herbs and inscences and the like for your potions and spells..and they offer classes and the like for those who want to know more or just entering the craft or religion..
i was able to obtain a guide there
I had to learn much of what I know on my own. I lived my vampiric life for years, never having a mentor. I now take what I have learned and try to be a good teacher and leader to those who sit before me. I am here for anyone who may need assistance in instruction or an understanding shoulder to lean on.
My teacher has been my only real love in life. I loved him because he has been the only person on earth I've felt admiration for. I've learnt a lot from him. He doesn't know it and probably never will.
My guide was instinct..the subtle hand of nature. Outside of that, religion played a big role in my guidance.

For some unexplained reason I was chosen by a teacher....
I think the subject is vampiric but I can say something about this anyway.
In my case I wanted to know more about me and witchcraft.
What I learned was all from personal expiriences.
As for finding more things about myself am doing that trough life.
So practically my expiriences are my teacher....
My Guide has always been Myself... i leanr much from letting my Mind take me away.. I heard a Qoute Once and it said" Who will ultimately Proove to Be Your Best Teacher..You Willl that Person within Yourself!" This is True becuase if You truely desire to do something or Be SomeBody You will push Yourself to learn and Grow More and more and more... You will go out of Your way to ultimately Be the Best...I cant say It wouldnt be Nice to have someone to Sit down with or walk with and discuss the Same Beliefs But it is sometimes Extremely hard to find One You can trust and Put Your faith In to Be there! One Person You can always count on Is Yourself!
I was tought by my cousin. I cut ties with him a year ago. He stated teaching me when I was 12 so He ws my teacher for 6 years. Know I am on my own. I'm not looking for a teacher as much as someone to work with.
I always knew I possesed something with in but was unsure of what. I met my Teacher on line and after getting very close with her she helped me a great deal with my Awakening. I to was sad for a long time until I found her and the rest of my Family I hope you find this yourself one day.
I know when I use teacher or guide it means the person or people I picked up a new piece of knowledge. Sadly to find the 'yoda' like mentor is most likely not going to happen. But through trial and error, as well as listening to what others say you can find many teachers, guides and advice. Hell there are even podcasts that teach.....
More's the pity with that Ogunshi.... I would dearly enjoy having a mentor to help me on my path.
I've never really had a single teacher. I had an online community to turn to and from there I learned. Most of the time I've been a Nodist/Nomad/Ronin (What have you). Yet I have had wards, three infact, that I can actually count as wards instead of people who just passed by to learn a little.
Some times you don't need a teacher to learn, some times you need a student to learn from.

I had a teacher she was my one true love my soulmate she gave me everthing i would ever need to get by in this world that was a long time ago she has pasted on now and i am alone.
There are some that believe that you will find your teacher when the time is right. I have always felt that when you listen to yourself and all the world around you then you will know what to do. But a teacher is a good way to help you to learn some of the inner working of whatever it is that you are trying to learn. But this is only because they have more experience or learning in that subject.
Nicely said, HauntingWolf . . .
there are times that I wished I had someone to learn with or help guide me . . . even someone to grow with or lean on
i think that everything around us is a teacher, i mean anythin from a stone for strenght to a ghost for spiritual development.
My Guide has been chosen I have animal Guides and a teacher that was sent to me from a good friend,
I would love a teacher. I have kind of felt things out and had things just happen but haven't really figured this all out yet.
teachers are good in some aspects but you still need to go and learn on your own...
The High Priestess of a local Covendom that I am in. Met through a friend.
I did not have teachers or guide, but I am someone that seek when need to learn and I did alot of research on what I wanted to know, but I would've love to have a teacher or guide to help indeed
I know mine when I meet them.
I just know.
If you need someone on a person to person level then hit the yellow pages under Life Coach. Its a new field but, they are there.
Mine was an interesting meeting. I was sought out. He became my teacher and guide. He was my only connection to the world of the darkness until he brought me there. I loved him and cherished him. He unfortunatly met an untimly end.
unfortunately i have had no guides. so all of my knowlege and magicks are mostly instinctual.
things i have knowledge of was taught by older gener.but i also taught myself some on the practice,it is a gift.
I think alot of the posts are getting repetitive. When it come to the Craft (not the movie), if there are no mentors around to guide you, follow what's in your heart. If it's Vampirism you speak of, and again there is noone around to learn from, then go off of the net. There are several sites dealing with the Vampiric Community, this being one. Learn from the people you meet online. Just be careful you're not talking to someone that speaks from their ass.
i think it's hard to find a real guide. I've had to rely on myself.
I agree with ya Frankie. You can study and read and do whatever it takes btu there is a comfort of having that " one on one"
I have found that when I really needed a human guide that if I was open to finding them in places I wasn't expecting that they would come to me. Don't rule out anyone that you come across until you know for sure that they don't have anything to teach you is my rule anymore.
Mostly, what I learned I learned on my own. Now, by pure coincidence (or destiny) I found someone here that share the same thoughts with me and teached me few things...
What I really found out here...all of you are my teachers and everyday I learn a little bit of something...The community of Vampire Rave helped me find my way and rediscover myself!
I thank you all!!!
teacher? well in some things i could teach - but that would be strictly +21
Books to random search.
Found VR, panther, and several others. Helped Panther. Grown to know him better. Conversation, meeting, etc.
From there I found a bit of a mentor-- but more of a role model about being yourself ad working to strive to be your own 'godhead' as it were. A few people I've spoke with think he's hokey, but it's Don Henrie of 'Mad, Mad House'.
I go into a little more detaila dn such in something I'm writing as we speak, but it's not ready for 'publication,' as it were.
However if you're interested, I'd love to share my experience with you. Seems I've become somewhat of a mentor to a few others, here.
for me too as many who have posted here i have been my own guide
certain events and progression of events recently and during the past few days have gotten me thinking about that
it is seeming to me that all the while i was being guided by familiars, by teachers through other people, through situations, through animals ,too many things to mention
till i was ready for instruction in the flesh, something i am begining to recieve from a few places over the past few days , i see that if the same were to happen a few years back i would have regected it or run , whatever i was not ready
and it has been my excperience that our guides know us very well our strengths limitations as of now , everything, and teach us with all those factors in consideration
the trick i have found is to be a good pupil a good student
that is the skill and art to me mastered
then nature herself teaches
one has the direct and undiluted teaching, instant and now
nature has been a very goiod teacher to me all these years , i see today that what i have failed to grasp has been due solely to my limitations , she has and still does the best work
there have been though people who have come into mylife over the past few days , both in the flesh and as energy
with specific instructions , involving practice and things like that, and what strikes me is that they dont feel new, like they have always been with me, guiding me since i was born
thjere is a saying , that every atom every grain every ant and tree and bird and child when brought into the world , has all its requirements established before it comes , that all things to recieve it have been laid for it
this in my experience is true
so to gurus i will say i bow most low to the teachers , the guides , the preceptors and the manes
most exalted , guru we prostrate before you even before god
we surrender to your love and infinite grace and compassion
so it is
so it is
so it is
Om Tat Sat
My "guide" (if I can call him that) is my familiar, Cuthbert.
Don't ask...
Most of what I learn is from my own eperiences/mistakes. My close friends show me the rest.
Evangius: Great comment. Very true.
Frankie: You need to be careful when looking for a teacher. First, Evangius made an absolutely brilliant point. In a sense, the world is your teacher. You should learn from every experience, and what you see in others. However, I do realize that people often need a push to get on that path. I know I did. (and I need the occasional kick in the ass to keep my head straight…) So a personal teacher to help open your eyes to the wisdom all around you might not be a bad idea. But I give you this: TFYQA. Think For Yourself, Question Authority. If anyone ever claims to be some type of all-knowing sage, it is safe to assume that they are nothing they claim to be. The truly enlightened person is aware of who and what they really are, therefore they act with humility, not ego. A good teacher should be able to talk to you not only about spiritual principals, but about you personally, and life in general. A good teacher will ask the right questions that will cause you to think. That being said: I don’t have all the answers. Hell, I don’t have half of them. But I do habitually study both spirituality and life. If you (or anyone else) want to chat about it to see if it goes anywhere, feel free to message me. The teacher is often the student as well. Roles in life are never static. The universe is symbiotic and oddly synchronistic. If you play your cards right, that will ALWAYS work to your advantage in the end.
Om Tat Sat?
Seems someone read the Gita.
And a good student, Well done!
Almost all of my knowledge has been through books or experiences I picked up along the way. Having a mentor would have been nice. I'm sure I would have enjoyed their company.
i was introduced to the the craft in my case..by a freind of mine whom had just started...but hence i had no guide what so ever...but just other wiccans with whom i shared my expierence...all i have learned i learned it from books and web sites..and aslo from expierence sharing...
but right now i am a guide for a friend whom just started wicca and i feel proud to guide her...
For me it has been a whole lot of finding things out on my own. I had one person call me his student but it turned out that all he wanted was sex. So from there on I have determand that learning on your own is better then a false pretence. Study research find things that have to do with yourself and gather the information. Now a days there is one person that puts his hand in my studies for both vamperic and religouse he is my fiance he does not show me or tell me how this or that is especialy for vampiresim (he is wearkin) he more or not lights the fire under my butt to search and learn about me.
