Many myths have been posted within the General Forum.
Here is yet one more for those interested in the consuming of blood.
It is one I have not come across before, although I am familiar with
the term, “Blood Libel”. I did not know of the origin of from whence it
came.

The Myth of the Blood Libel
A popular anti-Jewish myth that gained widespread acceptance was the notion that Jews murdered Christians because they need blood to perform satanic rites—the charge of ritual murder or blood libel. It was believed that Jews usually led by rabbis, kidnapped Christian children on Jewish holidays in order to bleed them to death for occult rituals.
According to medieval myth, Jews thought the Christian blood could purge the diseases caused by their own corrupt blood, or cure the wounds caused by circumcision. Christians believed that Jews mixed the blood in their ritual foods at Passover in order to sanctify them. Some thought that the captive Christians were crucified in order to reenact Christ’s murder. If a Christian child was murdered near Easter or Passover, there was a good chance that local Jews would be massacred. Into the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, at least two dozen ritual murder trials took place in Central and Eastern Europe.

Interesting point, because it's a jewish legend that speaks of a demon called Azazel, that's responsible for taking the sacrificial goat (was it really a goat?) to the desert, so that could be abundance and peace in the villages of the desert.
Once again, the blood is the life
I find the story quite interesting. But to me it rings of religious slander. One religion saying lies about another to try to discredit said religion.
I would imagine that long ago rites such as these existed on many levels and for many reasons. However they could be taken way out of context. Especially if you are on the outside looking in.
TearsOfArakiel
thanks for that piece of info, i have'nt hear of that.
hugs
As Fangor said, information learned...
Also more of what one religion says about another to discredit it, sigh.
and yes, the blood is the life.
That is something interesting to think and talk about...I might do more looking into that...
ahhh, the things we tell our children to scare them into behaving....
I love to learn about culture and legeng or myth, this is one more thing that I now know, thank you.
It's an interesting story but with as traditional and as devoted to God as the Jewish faith is I don't see them taking part in any kind of satanic ritual. After all...they sooner curse you and spit on the ground for a bad horse sale than murder christians for blood to donate to Satan.
That was very interesting.... I wonder when that first came about.... Maybe back during the days of the Roman Empire..... Or even during the Crusades when all hell broke loose over a peice of land..... I have to look into that to see the historics around the whole situation truthfully very interesting....
Interesting post. It is amazing what people will come up with to slander those they fear.
Amazing. Yet another good read and also, I agree with the previous post. It's quiet amazing what people do and slaunder the feared.
Just when you think you've heard it all, you learn something new. I thank everyone for sharing new info like this... I wonder if this was one of the many reasons that the "nutzies" persecuted the jews - I mean, stories like that are sure to have been used for anti-semetic purposes.
sounds like another petty bedtime story of the christian tv evangelist.
pay no heed.
daeg.
Phear - your posts are almost the most interesting thing i read- and: Ned Kelly is on it´s way - i try to finish it today
twisted maybe true yes,but that was a different time ,they had many strange beliefs
I have -never- head of this-- it really peaks my curiousity.
Very interesting read. Some say that myths and legends are based partly on fact, so i wonder how much of this is true and what is made up. One will never know i guess without more reasearch on a time so far past that even the facts will be skewed from interpretation.
thats something that can be true. those times were full of savagery and desperation, as those people were unsure... but hey, are we?
Interesting to say the least. Usually, all churches want their faith to be the best one.
I will be going to the urls you had posted and read in more detail concerning this.
Thank you for posting it.
There's actually more to the story than y'all know. See, originally the Romans thought that the christians were grimy little pains in the ass for many reasons, some better than others, but there were some misunderstandings.
One big one was since the Christians "drank the blood and ate the body of Christ" at communion, the legend spread that they were actually drinking real blood and grinding up real flesh to put in the bread.
Later, when the church officials were in power and trying to think up new things to do to, they got together and a conversation like this took place:
Bishop Assholus: "Hey, remember those old stories about us and the blood drinking and flesh eating?"
Bishop Bigger Assholus: "Yeah, that really made people hate christians."
Bishop Assholus: "Well, no point in letting such a good fear-mongering tatic go to waste."
Bishop Bigger Assholus: "You are so right Bishop Assholus! And we hate the Jews now, right?"
Bishop Assholus: "Well, not really, but we do owe them money."
Bishop Bigger Assholus: "Filthy Usurers! Why do they all earn their living loaning money anyway?"
Bishop Assholus: "Because we banned them from all other occupations, remember?"
Bishop Bigger Assholus: "Oh, yeah, right, right. Anyways, all we have to do is switch a few words in the rumor, and we'll have mass hysteria on our hand, and mobs in the streets killing the people we owe money too!"
Bishop Assholus: "Sweet!"
I have read this rumor before, but wasn't it the pagans killing the jews for there blood. Same old scare tactic either way.
Hahahah….Visp….that’s some funny shit.
While the early Jews did engage in ritual sacrifice, there is no evidence that a human was ever used. Not to mention the fact that I’m pretty sure they were admonished by god not to drink blood. Definitely anti-Semitic propaganda.

Why thank you, I try.
wow is right... I'll check out the info, i like learning new things....
hmm.....very interesting. i have never heard of that before.
