I know that the Triangle is meant to represent the holy trinity and God Head. but i Have reason to believe that there is something sinister about triangles as i have a medium sized scar on my left hand in the shape of a reverted triangle. Also, I am well aware of the fact that the left hand is commonly associated with "evil" or black magic and my friends call it the devil mark and I am wondering if there is any grains of truth in them saying that. Bearing in mind that i am a psychic vamp, even though i am NOT evil.

I would like to know where you get alot of your information because I have been involved with magick and the paranormal for well on 6 or 7 years now and have never heard the left hand refered to being connected to "dark" or "evil" magick. The only thing i have heard or read connected with the left hand is the Female half of the energy spectrum in nature.

Also, your being a PsyVamp has nothing to do with you being evil or anything involving your work with magick if you do. The only thing being a PsyVamp does with magick is help you focus and concintrat your will. Oh and also help with collecting energy to be used to do what ever the spells purpose is for.

I haven't heard of the left hand being evil either, and I've been doing study for over 6 years aswell.
A triangle is a strong shape, physically and spiritually. But circles are also very powerful, and so is the pentagram or pentacle.
I don't think a scar on your hand is anything to be worried about, nor do I think it makes you evil. :)

triangles have been used a long time now... an upright triangle symoblese the male, while the down right the female (also said in the da vinci code if i am not mistaken) thus the star of david is two trainagles in one, the union of male an female... so its not evil...

about the left hand... the right part used to be asscoicated with the male, while the left part with the female... thsu the concept of left as evil was adopted by the catholic chruch a long time ago.... aslo as they call it the left hand path for some tradtions, but the left was originally associated with the female, and not evil...

The scar might be a coincidance, even though triangles are symbolic like it was already said.

The Left Hand Path is often associated with evil cause it's the path of no god.It doesn't necessary mean that the person is evil, neither being a psychic vampire means to be evil. However good and evil can be seen differently by everyone.

*also as a practioner i post*
the significance of triangles to many people; of ages on are great. of course triangles have a universal meaning attached however in some traditions these meaning may vary. meanings with manifestation cuz of the points i.e. 1 point plus another makes a line plus another makes a form; manifesting the TRIANGLE. Hence the earlier notion to use/need a triangle for evocations (astral or to phyical apeareance) in magical operation. other escoteric meanings have mostly to do with the elements; upwards pointing = Fire; downwards = water; upwards pointing w/ horizontal slit near the top = Air; downwards pointing w/horizontal slit near the bottom = earth. as previosly posted the so called david star/ hexagram means union; of the two opposing forces.
personally i think its an upside down triangle on your left hand 'thats cool'. the upside down is in correspondance with the left side; feminine side as afore stated & by others posted.
oh by the way, about it being evil NO! still it is true that in some circles/ traditions the Left Hand Path is concidered the Evil path. never heard of triangle being evil and you most probably will never find that in any true escoteric studies. not even the from the so called 'dark side' even they are well informed -as you should be known!

Magickally speaking, I've always heard the left hand is the "receptive" hand and the right being the "projective" hand.....nothing evil connoted with either....and don't you know where this triangular scar came from?

Also, bear in mind, that the left hand in some Arabic cultures also represents the unclean hand, supposedly being used for sanitary situations involving waste removal. This representation is also the reason you don't see Arabs shaking hands with their left hands or waving to loved ones with their left hands.

So, being as some magical practices stem from the Arab world, this representation of being "unclean" may be the reason why you'd associate the left hand with evil.

In the Jewish Kabballah, the Left Hand pillar, also known as the Pillar of Severity, of the Tree of Life is usually associated with Binah (Wisdom), Geburah (Severity, Judgement, or Strength, depending on who you ask) - this is the sephira that gives the pillar its identity, and Hod (Splendor).

This pillar is offset by the Pillar of Mercy: Chokmah (Understanding), Chesed (Mercy, giving its name to the pillar), and Netzach (Victory).

Just a couple notes offhand...

Michael (aka Charon)

HA HA HA -thats right! -about the cleaning the but thing with the left hand & not receiving anything or shaking with it. no sh__ i just left india and there it is totally real.
But about the pillar of severity, Charon, tsk, tsk. the proper way to look at the tree of life is backing into it, therefore the pillar of mercy is the left side and the pillar of severity your right.

The tree of life and the tree of knowledge are the tree in Eden that Eve and whats his face did their thing, funny how sinning leads to wisdom huh, which brings me to the next topic

left as I am wondering why no one has mentioned it, is consideed evil because of the root of the word in Romance language tongue is sinister as sinestra in Italian and spanish means left.

Triangles, well if you are an unclean spirit like me and have sinned alot, all triangles add up to 180 degrees, which, well, that ain't no lucky number for a man. If you want to know why, just message me and I will ignore the email.

During the purge of the undesirables in NAzi germany, the jews wore the star of David, the poles a P, gypsy's something different, and gays well they had a upside down triangle, in fact , well I have a german behind me now, a writer and he said the Jews didn't have the star of David in the camps, they had a letter J

and there was a whole long list of letters the Nazis had problems with, a different letter for each group, but now I am off topic.

Triangles stand for the inate feminine...as does the left hand.
However in latin sinister means left...hence the left hand. Only later did this take on negative conotations with the catholic and christian faiths. How it all got started I have no idea. All I remember is a story my grandmother told me about when she was in school. She went to one of those nun with the ruler schools...lol. She was left handed and got yelled at for using the "sinister/evil" hand and yes...you guessed it...got smacked with the ruler.
So, whether or not it started being evil with these faiths ....that's the one example I've heard of for an "evil" hand.
In my opinion I would consider yourself blessed by the feminine and rejoice in it.

There are endless possitive trinities. the number 3 in numerology is represented as: Positive Traits: Self-expressive in many ways, verbalization, inspiration and keen imagination, artistic gifts, accurate impressions and insights, never-ending optimism, happy and fun-loving, enjoys life fully.

The major geometric figure employed, reiterated in various sizes, is the triangle. Alchemically speaking, the triangle stands for fire. The symbolism of the triangle coincides with the symbolism of the number 3, which is divinity and perfect harmony. A triangle oriented upwards represents fire and the masculine principle; one oriented downwards connotes the feminine principle. In Judaism, the triangle is the symbol of God and the two triangles, Solomon’s seal, stand for the human wisdom. One has to carefully examine the relationship between two triangles, one being the reverse of the other: they stand for the unity of divine nature and human nature; in Buddhism, they represent linga and yoni, fire and water, the fundamental principles of life.

In som ewiccan the level of adepth is shown is three. The symbols are listed in Janet and Stewart Farrar's book "A Witches Bible" as:

first degree: an inverted (one point down) triangle
second degree: and inverted pentagram
third degree: an upright pentagram with a triangle above it (like in the pictures Qryztufre shows)

I know this is an empty post, but there are geometric shapes in the face. The pentagon is one of them, which the smile lines and the lines that wrap around the chin from the smile lines, a five sided shape. The triangle wsa also in the face somewhere I forget. I have to go look in the mirror. I think it was a program on facial constants, in terms of can you tell if someone is a criminal from the shape of their head, sloping forheads et cetra.

I don't know where to retrieve the info from, but maybe it rings a bell in someone else.

In a Christian document from the year 140 AD “The Shepherd of Hermas.” Translated from the Greek.

Hermas and Rhoda engage in platonic trysting

Hermas talks: “Then she drew near with 6 young men, the which also I had seen before, and stood beside me and listened while I prayed and confessed my sins unto God. And she touched me and said: “Hermas, have done with all thy prayers and the reciting of they sins. Pray also for righteousness, whereby thou mayest bear some of it with thee house>” And she raised me up by the hand and led me to the couch, and said unto the young men: “Go and build!” And when the youths were gone and we were alone, she said unto me: “Sit thee here!” I said unto her; “Mistress, let the aged be seated first.” She said: “Do as I said unto thee and be thou seated.” But when I made as though to seat myself upon her right hand, she motioned me with a gesture of the hand to be seated upon her left.

As I wondered thereat, and was troubled, that I might not sit upon the right side, she said unto me: “Why art thou grieved, Hermas? The seat upon the right is for those already well-pleasing to God and have suffered for thy Name. But to thee there lacketh much before thou canst sit with them. Yet remain as heterofore in thy simplicity, and thou shalt surely sit with them, and thus shall it be for all who shall have accomplished the work which those wrought, and endured what they have suffered.”

I got that scar because i burnt my hand with a iron, while thinking about how the Chrisitan god wasn't the one for me. and the part of the iron wasn't the top but in the middle so i don't know why it made the shape of a triangle instead of a distorted sqaure. And I got the information about the left hand being evil from the short mindedness of Kurt.E Koch in"Occult ABC" which i found very bias. and my friends just call it the devil mark as a joke

inmyshadow,

Have you considered that this might simply be coincidence?

Or do you not believe that random chance can affect our lives in significant ways?

I have a scar much like a lightning bolt on the middle finger of my right hand, but I do not place any mystical significance upon it, even though I don't know where it came from or when I received it.

These things happen, but I don't feel that they all happen for a reason, nor do I see any significance in triangles beyond that which I would attribute to any geometric shape.

The thought of magic being evil or good is in the eye of the beholder. What one person believes is good doesnt mean the other will believe the same thing. It is the intent that makes the magic what it is. Of course i would not say use magic to influence free will as what you put out is what u get back. The theory behind that is that the energy u use when doing magic or prayer or in every day life is what influences what happens to u as well. If u use the energy in ur body to do negative things then the energy you store will be negative and it will atract again "negative" things. Drawing on positive energy and using positive energy in everything u do will bring about positive results. The only reason to be a PSY-Vamp is to draw on others energy because u have not learned to tap into ur own. There are many meditation techniques and lessons that would help u with this if u wish to have unlimited energy.

This is a topic actually greatly interests me. While have not had enough time to really study it, I did find one link that does a nice summery of Sacred Geometry by Catherine Yronwode.

I have also heard many people view the works of Frank Lloyd Wright as having elements of this type of magic. It meaning that someone is good or bad, I don’t buy. I think in that manner it is all about intent.

There is no way in this short posting that I am going to do this subject justice, as there are too many facets in archeology, anthropology and religion that all go into this topic. Suffice to say, I love the idea of using Math to access our metaphysical side.

Triangles can represent so many things. The cristians may look at it as a sign of the holy trinity, and some wiccans may look at it as a sybmol of the Goddess as Maiden, Mother and Crone. It is also used by the homosexual community as a symbol. So it depends on who you are and what you belive as far as what that triangle means. Maybe in some sultures it is a mark of evil if inverted.

maybe I can shed some light on this subject. Traditionally, people that are left-handed are believed to be reincarnated by old souls, like me. I have been reincarnated about 5 times. The triangle is like a blessed form of protection, like in some traditions of hermeticism. I've been a wiccan for the past 13 years since I was 10, and reading up on this has lead to many conclusions, the fact that left-handed people do have special skills and are more creative because they use more of the right side of the brain waves, the side of creativity. I never believed what the catholic church preached because they stole a ton of traditions and warped them into "THEIR" rightious beliefs. They even had the balls to steal some traditions from wicca and make us look like the bad guys. If you want to know more, let me know......

Triangles freak me the fudge out. I also have a triangle-shaped scar, but it's on my inner thigh and it's made of three dots. Because I'm insane, I sometimes see that exact arrangement of dots forming a triangle everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE. I'll smoke a cigarette, and the ashes that fall around my feet will make that triangle. I'll see it in holes in walls, on tables when they're made of crumbs, streetlights when I happen to look up and for a moment in time it's that particular shape. Sometims it'll even show up on my body in other ways; right now, on my right hand, I have three little marks. One on my knuckle from punching something, I can't remember what; one from the cat when he was a dumbass, lost his balance and landed on my hand; and one on the side of my finger, when I was a dumbass, and scraped off a good chunk of skin playing pool. All together, these dots make that shape. (It's not an equilateral triangle; it's slightly off.)

Hooray for triangles!

The triangle is a very strong symbol. And the left side has been associated with the woman the right with the man. The only way i can think of your friends saying the left is evil is that long ago women were believed to be evil because they're menstral blood was believed to be unclean. And supposedly Eve seduced Adam into eating the fruit so women were thought to be a threat to men. This belief started with the Zoroastrians.

The triangle isn't evil though. And if i were you i would be proud to wear it.
