My grandmother whom is quite intellgent in my eyes as always told me when i come to her with things i experinced in life as told me something that confuses me yet intruges me..... i'm at a paradox...She tells me that if you play in the shadows and within the morbid means of the world I'm bound to find the monsters within....better explained... if you go through life reading vampire books and dappling in "dark" things you are going to DRAW bad spirits and bad things to you.... BUT my question is! Do you DRAW it to you OR do you just come to the REALIZATION that it isn't a trick of the mind or lighting..its turly there again better explained...do you realize spirits are there because your eyes are turly open to them OR were they not there and now you've brought them upon yourself with your state of mind....i hope that makes sense ....what do you think Realization or Drawing..please explain :)

i think it's kind of a mix of the two actually. you realize they exist but in some ways reading about them can draw them to you.
a friend once explained it to me that when you get into a spiritual discussion or what not, your spirit flame/aura expands in a way, drawing things to you like moths to light, benevolant or malevolent. i don't know if reading books about vampires could actually do that, but i'm finding alot of things aren't as they seem much of the time. i don't think that you are "creating" things, so much as you realize they are there and when your spiritual side leaks out they come to you and you can feel them, because with the spirtual leak comes slightly heightened spiritual awareness.

i have to ask; if you reverse the rolls and all you see is the good side of life and have never had your vision tainted... then why does bad things happen to good people? why doesn't all of the good spew from them and draw only goodness towards them?

i remember seeing a documentary on the powers of positive thought, for example if u get out of bed in the morning and stub ur toe you seem to have one of those days that things go wrong at every turn, just because you have negative thoughts from the outset... or if you keep a positive attitude things always work out.... so i guess to take that belief a step further i cant see why if u believe in certain things u cant attract them unto u

I would have to say that it is a blend of the two. There are always going to be those things around you; however, I think that if they are aware that you are conscious to their presence they will be more tempted to be drawn to you. In many cases these entities do not wish for others to know of their existence.

I think that no matter what you read or are interested in, if you know something is there and you are opened to the ideas of things being real, they are. I believe a closed minded person would have a harder time seeing things then a person who has a more open minded perspective. I myself believe that no matter what anyone tells me there are things in this world that do indeed exsist that cant be explained. I see them all the time and I was taught that it wasnt real. I remember seeing things as a child before I could read or take true interest in things. Im sure however if you are reading up on a subject of the paranormal, and you take a major interest in it to the point of study, your mind is bound to play tricks on you upon occasion, but at the same time if you are skeptical and have your one true experiance you are more apt to becoming more open minded to anything. (I really should have that morning cup of coffee before I attempt tp make total sense.) :)

I believe that people that read or enjoy tales of vampires, werewolves and the such, are exercising their imaginations more. By doing so they become more accepting of different possibilities out there. I don't believe it draws "evil" to you just as being a very "good" person keeps bad things from happening to you.

I think that when you understand possibillites of differnt things vampires, wolfs etc then u become more understanding of them, i dont think that drawings bring evil.

Sounds kind of like an awakening. I think you draw in what ever you seek, and sometimes you draw in more than you ask for.

Even if we dont dance in the shadows or surround ourselves with darkness or the supernatural, the darkness can find us. But then again the same can and does hold true for lightness.

i do not believe you are drawing evil when you read about vampires etc....you are oeping your mind to other things...and an open mind is a good thing...never a bad thing...a closed minded person is the one missing out on everything...

I think, by getting into the subject, it opens your mind to what's out there and therefore allows you to see it. So its not really drwing them to you, because they were there the whole time, you just had to get your mind open to their existense.

Hmmmm, i'll try and snawer to best I understand your question. Realization comes to us as we suddenly understand what was trying to be understood. If we think, read, write and such about the darkness, vampires, blood and all that good stuff we do tend to obtain and keep a mindset until we are retrained to think other things. As in spirits it does vary from person to person, but mainly it can be a state of mind that they sense or see anything at all. That's why people are so sceptic. If a person leads a life to the point where they have been forced to see spirits there is no gaurantee that they see anything at all and that's why they are not trusted at times, because there is just to much that can be thrown to chance. Now for my opinion it always depends on the person, personally if you think you can see spirits, you can. But sometimes, more rather than less, you do seem to bring all of them upon yourself.

I think that reading and exploring about the darkness is exploring curiosity and imagination. Now, as the saying goes,"Curiosity killed the cat." This I think applies becuase our curiosity takes us places where darkness often dwells.....so..do we draw the darkness? OR are we Drawn TO the darkness??

I think this one is a matter of opinion. If you think only "light" thoughts, will only good come to you, not necessarily. Gothchick said "why do bad things happen to good people?" I think maybe things happen because of our past lives. It could be a karmic dept we have to pay...It seems to be inconclusive, because some people have great luck, and some have none. I think having "dark"thoughts as a child might have an affect on your style, likes and dislikes. But children are innocent, so if you're not born with an antisocial personality disorder(example:Hannibal Lector, although ficticious) then you are alright!! We aren't bad, we just have different tastes! :)

It's also like when your folks warned you to be selective in who you hang out with...

...you might not be a trouble-maker, but if you hang out with the touble-makers, you will eventually find yourself in trouble.

when you were a child, just bc you didnt know of pedophilia, murder, rape and genocide, doesnt mean it wasnt there. Now you opened your eyes to it as you grew up. you didnt necassarily go looking for it but it was always there so one day it made itself present to you. S why is it not the same with things ppl say are not real, or figments of ppl imaginings?

i think reading and watching vampiric or gothic materials leads you to realization that opens up your mind to understand eccentric things through knowledge... things that you haven't known before, you can understand now because of readings...

this realization is now followed by drawing... i think spirits come to people who can understand them better, and with your new knowledge, you can draw spirits..

so to sum it up, i think its BOTH

I think whatever you open your mind to is what you will bring to you. In most cases. Sometimes you just get crap no matter what you do.

I tend to believe that it is both..... my personal opinion is that a spiritual world is co-existing with ours and by acknowledging it we draw from it

good question... to me I think that i t is a mixture of both...... but if u think and feel positive things then tht will happen... if u think and feel negative things tht will happen... It's the energy tht u have within ur mind and soul

I once believed in spirits,read books about them and then weird things started to happen,evil spirits where everywhere...
After some time,I stopped believing in them and they were gone..so REALIZATION it is :-)

Just because you read things about the undead or supernatural does not mean you are drawing bad spirits to you. I think it means that you are opening up your mind to things that can happen or exist in their own way. Opening your mind to things of other cultures and myths just brings a better realization to your mind set. It helps you to see things in a different light.

Opening up to your darker side and exploring possibilities of other realms/beings/spirits..doesn't draw negativity. Its just a form of awareness.

I dunno,that's my opinion...it's not awareness it's just pure psychology and imagination...I don't believe in these stuff only because what happened to me...I opened my sub conciousness and it did stuff,paranormal stuff then,I decided to force myself to close it.and somehow I did,and it stopped...how do you explain that?(apart from me getting crazy for few weeks and then healling my own mind...)

I think it is a mixture of the both of them, It is because you realized that it is something dark, that you have drawned the darkness to you. It is sorta like a bad dream but it isn't.

The way I look at it, there is no darkness. Darkness is the absence of light, not a thing unto itself. It does not encroach apon light as does something that is truely dualistic. That is not to say that there isn't a beauty to the absence of perfection... it is what makes life worth living to see beauty in that which is not understood and is not perfect. we will never have perfectr understanding so we have our illusions of beauty.

That said, if you follow a course based on your illusion, you have further to go to return to the correct course. Illusions are way more inhibiting than obsticals.

I think it’s a little of both. You open your eyes to what is really out there. And once you have that knowledge I think the “bad” things out there can tell that you know so they are drawn to you.

i do not think you necessarily "draw" it to you but yet embrace something that is already there in the first place

I don't really have an explanation but I feel like I was just born the way I am because as far back as I can remember I liked the darker side of things

My opinion is those thing's are always there you relize them when you open your self to the idea they exist.It is something I was born with and my Grandma always told me to believe in my sight and feeling's,and make friends with them.My 2 cents worth.

I think it is a realization. I think a parallel example to this, that would explain my thoughts better would be when you recently learn a new word, and soon after you seem to hear it a lot more, or pick it up in songs, books, or movies you've watched before.

I have always favored the dark.. books... movies... hell would paint my entire house black if I was not worried they would put me away lol. But I have had very little evil touch my life. So I do not think simply being intrested in somethign will draw it to you.

Now there is a difference in being intrested in.. and requesting things.. you can ask these things to enter your life.

I also think there is aprt of it tht is you may become more aware of things as well. and depending on your reaction to them.. may draw them closer to them.
