I use a scrying mirror quite often and have had good luck with summoning spirits and future and past lives.Was just wondering what everyone's views on this are.Do you think they work, are they real? And what have been yer experiences with them.

i have one although i never use it.....i find for me what works better is when iam in a calm meditative state..............

i find them very effective. i don't have one at the moment though - must get round to making one.

I have never heard of scrying mirror, what is this used for. Do you call spirits with it, talk to passed lives, asking the aid of others, I would like to know more about it.

I'm an avid fan of scrying and do it often. I typically use a 3 inch black obsidian crystal ball... well "crystal" is a misnomer since it's an opaque black surface. I relax my vision into it and see swirls of clouds under the rock surface, then it opens my mind's eye in turn and allows me to "see".

I think that it is a tool to reflect your gaze inwards and open your third eye's sight rather than to "see" in the surface. I have also used a calm lake at night and the night sky (which is harder for all the stars).

come to think of it, I think that the dark reflective surfaces work best because it's what i first trained myself to use my third eye with. so now when i use the surface (though not necessary) i tend to see faster.

for those who aren't familiar with scrying mirrors, Nostradamus used a bowl of water, a form of scrying, for his predictive verses.

I have tried to use a bowl of water but never works. I usually do best after tensing every muscle in my body from my feet up. I have tried a mirror and I can't remember what happened.

I have never used a scrying mirror; however, I have practiced various arts. I would say that this could be very effective if the individual attempting the use is experienced.

i have used a black scrying mirror and i let something out that was really bad but i didnt know how to use it right so i would say if your going to use one know how first you can really burn yourself if your not carefull

they are a useful tool, I have used them and they have worked for me, I am trying to get myself to a point where I no longer need to have one to see such things.

Ive never really tried it,but it stands to reason in my mind ,that anything with a reflective or even opaque surface , would work.Crystal ball,mirror water,arent they simply tools on which someone can focus their energy?

I have tried the bowl of water and the scrying mirror but I have done best with just meditating. I think it just take allot of practice to get them to work right... Which I haven't taken the time to do... but yes I do know they work!

a scrying mirror is easy to make. traditionally, the backing is made of highly polished onyx, but for anyone who cant afford this (i.e. most of us), one can make do with glossy black card, or painting the back of a sheet of glass with black gloss paint. set the glossy card in a frame, and cover with a sheet of thick glass. you can decorate the frame with mystic symbols or glyphs which are pertinent to your faith. form a question ion your mind, and stare into your black mirror until you see something other than your own face. it works, i've tried it.

I have a scrying mirror. Yes you can make one u can use a bowl with a black coffee in it and just look in it and not see your reflections. Then call the spirits up and ask them what u want to know, You should remember to always protect your sefl before doing anything magic or with spirits.

I've never used one myself, but to me, the point of scrying is moreso a more concrete way for one's mind's eye to "project" onto a surface rather than the abstract floating that can occur...

I don't know if that made sense to anyone but me...

I have a black scrying mirror on my altar all the time. I find it very helpful finding homes for spirits who have not crossed over yet.

I have a Black one that has been in my family for I don't know how long and it is framed in ebony wood. But I've never used it. Well sometimes you really don't have to use it, things just happen. Nuff said on that.

Thanks Billy appreciate that info on the bowl wate and ink...the mirror kinda freaks me out, especially when it shimmers like waves...so I keep it covered now.

Scrying mirrors are best kept out of the sunlight. I have found that like any tool , they are better if you make them yourself.

Yes I think they work ..I have not used them howerver there is a paranormal book that says you can take to mirrors and create a portal by having them face each other..

Of course scrying mirriors work. It is a way for you to focus your energy into one object for you to be able to open your third eye. I don't use them but i know its possible. I think it depends on high your physic ability is, depends on the results.

I've never actually used a scrying mirror. But one time after I had done tarot cards(I read them quite regularly), something compelled me to look in the mirror, intently at the pupils of my eyes. I must have been staring at my pupils for 30 minutes, and it was like I completely lost control of myself and fell into a sort of state, almost like dreaming, but it wasn't dreaming, because I saw all these visions in my eyes....I don't know, its similiar, so I've never exactly had a personal experience, but I'm pretty sure that if you did it right then it would work.

you can buy black scrying mirrors - there is a stall on Morecambe market sells them. sounds like you have discovered how to use them by accident kath. a black mirror works better - particularly in a dark room lit only by candles. it's basically just a visualisation aid - a bowl of dark liquid will work too - or even watching the "snow" in a tuned out TV set. when i was a child we used to look for shapes and figures in the flames of a coal fire.

DarkAngel, they are beautiful! I haven't personally done any meaningful scrying, but I have a friend who really loves it. She has tried to give me a hand, but my eyes kind of cross, so this isn't a great divination method for me!!

I've tried clear crystal scrying, but not the blackend mirror sort.

Honestly wouldn't be hard to make a scrying mirror...just find a picture frame with glass, get good quality high-gloss black spray paint and coat one side of the glass part. Reinsert glass into frame with uncoated side out front, and viola.

Ok I have question when I lay down for sleep sometimes In a black room I close my eyes , and i see splotches of black and white flashing could this be a form of scarying ? Or is there meaning to it?

Sleen: If you just looked at a light, you eyes just may need a little more time to adjust to the dark.

However, if you see flickering lights that aren't there, floaty things, or splotches of discoloration in your vision that don't go away after a while, you should get an eye check-up. It's probably nothing serious, but you don't wanna gamble with your eyesight.

I have heard of the scrying mirror but find anything with a reflective surface does the trick quite nicely. A bowl of water or any liquid works a piece of glass or any mirror also works well

i hav never personally scryed though i will as soon as i can. i do believe in ones ailities to see past, future, and resent with one though. also very good for locating impurities. what i heard works best is having a calm meditative state and a smalll caalm demonfree area to scry in.

So what is the signficance of scrying mirrors being black. Can they be any color? What does the color mean?

I've not heard of a scrying mirror needing to be black, but then, I also do not use a scrying mirror. I do, however, believe strongly in meditation and breathing exercises and their ability to allow for foresight, hindsight and even the present.
I even see the scrying mirror as a form of meditation since it requires such concentration (I'd imagine).

to make one these Items are Needed:
1 photo frame whith a removable back and removable glass at least 8x10 inches
High gloss, black paint (non aerosol)
Paint thinner (if recommended for clean up on the paint can directions)
A paint brush
newspaper
Remove the glass from the frame and place it on the newspaper. Using long, smooth strokes, paint one side of the glass. It is imperative that there are no unpainted areas (no matter how small). Wait until the paint is dry, and replace it with the glass side facing out.

How to use your scrying mirror....

Scrying mirrors are used to induce visions, and answer questions. Before starting, make sure the room your in is as dark as possible. Some people like to place a small votive candle behind the mirror in a pitch black room. If you have a specific intention, chant it in your mind, or whisper it out loud over and over until you're mind is completely focused on nothing else. The way to use a the mirror is to not look at, but through the surface of it. Gaze into it's blackness. Images, colors will soon begin to appear. If this method dosen't feel right for you, I suggest skipping the candle and using a dark cloth to make a kind of tent covering yourself and the mirror.

Some people may experience difficulty getting results at first. It can take some people weeks to get results from scrying, so you may have to practice this a number of times. Be patient with yourself, make sure you are grounded and completely focused. Also, don't just hope for visions to appear, expect them.

scrying mirrors do not need to be any particular color they can be any color or even clear but most people find it easier to use if the surface is black because it is just easier to see that is all. Onyx is good for clearing the mind I think that is why that one is used

I myself have used scrying mirrors and made them myself. I find them handy and interesting.. and they do work it just takes time, learning to relax and open your third eye. I am out of practice though lol.

I like scrying and other forms of divination, but used alone they seem to eventually lead to self-deception.

These kinds of Mirrors also have a nasty habit of letting other things run amok if you don't cover them when not in use

this is the first hearing about a crying mirror, its seems like as a few said something that requires focus and concentration but dont u have to worry about bad spirit coming through even if you dont call upon them?

Yep, which is why you're supposed to keep them wrapped up when not in use.

New Moon is tomorrow night so I decided to get my mirror out and do some work. As you can see, it is more than a mirror painted black. Place the candles to the side so their reflection is not seen, it is OK to see yours. As you gaze lightly into the mirror, your reflection will change or disappear. So to see your reflection at first is not a problem but remember not to gaze at your reflection but at the mirror.

i used to use my great grandmothers hand mirror...currently i am useing one of the glass fishing floats from my grandma and grandpas house...

in my opinion..these can be used for several purposes..but one must be careful because the rong door can be opend as well..

Wow first time I heard of what these mirrors do and how to make and use them. I have seen them before on movies lol but of course they were being used in a crazy Hollywood way, you know, like spirits appearing in them and floating out of the mirror lol. Glad I read this thread, I really want to try this. I hope I do it right.

They are useful tools to proceess and explore the spiritual realm we kinda invade in a wya to ask for help support of to enhence our spells or search of knowledge. Or just to make contact with the spirits.

I have wanted to try one for a very long time.. but so far have yet to find the one that as ment for me if that makes sence.. all the tools of my trade so to speak have sort of called ot me.. offten at flea markets and the like oddly. So untill I find the one that calls to me. a bowl to hold the water or the frame.. or the mirror itself.. I guess I will just have to try to wait quietly lol

I have luck with mine(as well as other scrying impliments) I made mine and a travel size one to.A high Priestess of a Coven I belong to taught us how to make them.I used various herbs,snake skin (sheaded not killed for it) and oils.also incantations and blessings from my God Anubis and his Mother Nepthys she is a Mistress of magic like her Sister Isis. I have seen thing's that have happened and just interesting things.Notheing Evil has ever come through my Mirror or other scrying tools.

Scrying mirrors are great, my girlfriend uses a bowl of water, my mother uses a black mirror. All with good results.
