I know yoga is a form of relaxation, and I also know that it is an ancient art that allows one to delve into their inner landscape. I practise yoga, however when I come out of my trance-like state I have almost no recollection of the past hour. Is this normal?? And what exactly IS an inner landscape?
It sounds like knowing the inside of your own body. The route through your mid, body and soul kind of thing.
It is something that I would like to hear something about in case i am way off base there
I do not practice yoga; however, I do practice meditation. Based on my experience it is possible to delve so deeply into one's subconscious that you are not able to totally recall the events that you have confronted during a meditative state. This is not the norm though because there should be at least some memory of what you been doing within the inner landscape. The inner landscape refers to the world of your design which resides within you. This inner landscape can be any place that you invision yourself in to confront the inner demons and issues that you possess. However, please remember that these theories and responses are based on Ninjutsu Meditative practices and not on Yoga.
i do not practice yoga....but from what i heard about it...you should be aware of what is going on....i think that you are not focused enough and go off into a dream state rather than innerself...
Thanks for your input, you're probably right...I can't tell when I stop knowing what's going on around me, and I usually don't "wake up" so to speak until a loud noise occurs or someone touches me to shake me out of it.
Yoga in most senses is very similar to that glorious state of meditation called "no-mind". This state is sometimes hard to reach if one can't relax. Yoga helps relax the mind by focusing and relaxing the body.
However, as in dreaming and deep relaxation that puts the mind into the slower states of processing, one must learn to process and harness information that crosses from subconscious to conscious at the same.
Let me finish the thought. I meant it is about learning to process in the altered state where the mind is operating at a delta or even theta wavelength, where the mind isn't always "aware" of itself.
The corpse pose is my favorite after a good 30 min yoga or an hour you lay in the corpse pose and just relax . I find the inner peace with in that pose quite and calm...
Yes, dear that can be quite normal...Inerlandscape: think of your own place to hide , relax and stay safe you can build from there

Yoga is suppose to help with many things, it even has to do with Chakras. Some people actually consider it to be bad to do yoga though, because of the chakra but of it.
I can see as how one would lose the memory of it though. I mean all that bending and twisting and what not, its bound to cut off blood flow to the brain somewhere. lol. :)
Actually, the altered state of consciousness produced by meditation and/or yoga is a powerful place for thinking. We are so accustomed to thinking when in beta state that thinking anywhere else is unfamiliar and foreign. But, if one learns to harness this altered state for the purpose of higher thinking, one can control any number of things in and about their lives.
There are different schools of yoga, if you are experiencing things that you dont understand or are unclear of, please, cease until you consult a yogi or higher practiconer of your chosen art. There may be factors you have not considered that may be causing this.
Yoga actually means the spiritual path to God. There are 4 or 5, I do not rememeber. There is Meditation, there is Work, and there is Excercize. In other words, you can worship God by dedicating every aspect of your labour as praise to God and achieve spiritual wisdom that way; or through meditation; or the most commonly known (in the west) through exercize.
Yoga
Perhaps I was a bit unclear...During the main part of yoga, while I'm stretching and performing different positions, I am completely aware of my body, and my mind quiets down a bit. At the end, while I am in the Corpse pose and basically just meditating, after I "wake up" I don't recall anything that transpired while in the Corpse pose. I also can't figure out when exactly I stop knowing, and I only realize I've stopped after I become aware of my surroundings again. It's a bit like amnesia, I think; and I'll take your advice, hurtsoulless, and stop practising by myself until I consult someone. However, the same thing happens during gym class, we are doing a yoga unit right now, I think I will talk to my gym teacher about it and see what he says. Thank you for all your input as well everyone.
I spoke to my phy ed teacher, and I tried to explain as best I could. He said that it is normal, because there is nothing TO remember. He said that the conscious part of the mind is being shut off, let to rest, and another part of the mind is being allowed to be active. He also pointed out that you do not remember everything that happens while you are asleep. Do you think I should still contact a yogi?
I think that Yoga is kewl...just wished I could do it lol...but innerlandscaping is also kewl...it helps you with different things
don't know but if it is anything like meditation I would say your inner landscape would be the center of you the place where all things have to be balenced.
i have only tried it once, and i just couldnt get into it, though i've talked to friends of mine that said it was an excellent experance for them. sry if i cant give any further input.
I do yoga and it happeneds to me all the time. It's like you get lost in you mind and body, that you forget everything that has happened around you.
Yoga and meditation are close cousins, both reaching into your inner self. I can see where one might be so relaxed that they can loose tract of the time spent doing either exercise.
I think that maybe you were just not focused enough.
As for not remembering after the corpse pose....perhaps you may have actually fell asleep. Is this a possiblity for you? I have done this before myself, so thinking it could have been the case for you as well.
I have never tried Yoga.. But I have friends that do and they say it is very relaxing . But I do meditate quite often.
