I thought I would share this since spring will be here in less than a few weeks.. This information was in a book by DJ Conway.. It is in the monthly celebrations book.. Enjoy ~NFA~

Dryads
___________

The Dryads are the Nature Spirits,or nymphs,of forests and trees. There are several divisions of Dryads, each have their special areas of magick.
Some work only withgroves, valleys, and trees.Others are found only around water.Still others belong to mountians and grottoes.Often their protective
powers extend to the areas around their principal domain, suchas those of water will protect and nurture the surrounding woods, while those of the
woods will do the same for any nearby water.
The Greeks and Romans said that the Dryads could give the gift of prophecy and oracles, heal the sick, watch over the flowers and wild animals of the
area, and protect the fields and flocks.
Dryads were known in all the Celtic countries. The Celts believed them to be spirits who dwelt in trees, oaks in particular. The Druids contacted them for
spiritual inspiration.Oak galls were known as Serpent Eggs by the Druids and were used in many of their charms.
The ancient people who knew about the Dryads were careful not to antagonize them.Grottoes, springs, groves, all woodlands were treated with respect,
for they did not wish to offend the Dryads were companions of Faunus and Pan; both of these forest deities were capable of causing panic and fear
in any humans and animals. Our word "panic" comes from Pan's ability to incite panic.
Besides the obvious way of making friends with Dryads---care of the woodlands and the creatures who live there--you can get to know the ones in trees and
shrubs on your property by enticing them with faery boat lights and tiny bells.

To make faery boat lights, use walnut shell halves. If you can'tget walnut shells.Use very small pieces of thin wood.Break birthday candles in half.Drip hot
wax into the shell until you can anchor the tiny candle.Take a wide bowl of water outside and put it in a spot where you can sit comfortably and watch it .
Light each candle, and float the faery boat in the bowl of water. Ring tiny bells to enitice the Dryads closer; they will already be curious.

Sorry I forgot to ask the question...

I believe in the Fae Folk..

I don't know if any of you follow fae occult.. and if you do what fae do you believe in.?

I believe the fae have an everyday affect in the world, and it is good to not forget them, and who they are.. If you do believe that is:)

There are so many different clans, tribe's, and culture's of fae folk.. I find the dryads, and ELK to be one of the funnest to know of, and read upon.. I miss being in the woods up North.. So many fae are there, and it's fun to see them interact.. if they chose to show themselves to you.~NFA

I have never seen dryads or fae folks before. However the scientist community finds new species every year so its possible that they exist. Thanks for the information on them. Will do more research to get a better understanding of dryads.

I believe in the stories about them, and adore reading myth and legend, but I don't see what's wrong with wanting to see something in order to believe in it.

I feel it's just asking a bit too much for me to believe in a myth otherwise. And if I go about my life and have a good and joyful life without the fae or any other mythological creature needing to be real for me, what is the advantage of believing in them?

I recently started following the path of FaeCraft and have an amazing book to help guide me along. It's called *FaerieCraft* by Alicen and Neil Geddes-Ward. I highly recommend this book for any of those who have the desire to learn more about the teachings of the Fae.

And yes....I do believe in Faeries, I do, I do...

FUnny this topic... I never did believe in them till about a year ago. I picked up a book of green witch spells ( wanted the handfasting cermony in it ) and without doing anyhting more read a speel to invite Fae into your home.

Did this in the store when I was buying it. Thought nothing else about it.. did the dinner and movie thing. Went home... (mm should mention about a week or so before I had done a ritual for a fimalure).. walked in the house blinked and backed up and closed the door. My husband was looking at me like I had lost my mind cause I refused to go back in till he went first.

He walked in.. and as a rule can not see spirits or such but was on the floor laffing at my cat.. and called to me. ok hunny what can I not see that freaked you out that the cat is playing with? She was rolling around the floor clearly playing with something.

I discribed what I saw he noded and shruged and said cool we have a fairy dragon... and she has been with me every day since lol.

so yeah now I believe in them. Was a lesson in never say somehting does not exist for it may come to visit.

About two weeks ago I would have said no to all. But as odd as it is (or not up to you). I had an experise that at least makes me belive in dryads fully. Its not like I spotted one more like sensed one in every try on my way too school.

But this week has been an odd and cool week for me anyway. But yes I at least belive in dryads.

Well, the Feenvolk has its own history differing from place to place. In Europe especially the Irish have still a great range of tales about this noble ones, the Scandinavians too....
but most strongly adoring and beliving in Fairys might be the Icelandic.

Did you know, that their gouvernement has a representative just for fairy folk affairs?
That sometimes roads do strange curves to avoid interfereing with fairy terretory or that they even abandon to built houses if the place is populated by the fairy folk?

I belive, the fairies are as existant and represented, as the humans believe in them.
You won't find fairies in places, where there are no stories about them no more nor anyone beliving in them no more.

I recently got a wing of a fairy as a present...like a reminder not to let them go unnoticed.
