so what exactly is the process of turning someone. i have had a few people tell me but some were very much different than others and im sure that posting this will shed some light, or shad, on the subject. and im sure there are many ways to explain it all. pleaes humor me.
sorry i said shad i meant shade haha its been a long morning
The change is different for every one of us; I like to think of it as more of an awakening..."an aha momment" in ones life.
Perhaps answering the question folks. All one liners that do not go into details will be deleted.
that would be very nice i was hoping for some feedback.
I have also heard several answers to this question. Some believe that one's "changing" is when they "awaken" or their mind is opened. But of course this "awakening" is more than just vampiric reasons. When ones mind opens it leads them to a whole new world of understanding and reasoning beyond our known world.
Many others believe that the "turning" never happens. That they are born with this curse and they shall carry it for the rest of time.
One of the popular beleifs is that you "awaken"
in the term that you are born vampire and only after an uncertain amount of time does your vamperic qualities come out.
Its more or less the beleif that you wake up from a dream, the dream is being human, or uh nightmare....what ever you like to see it as.
The Biting method was popular not so long ago but has since lost its flare, Biting was beleived to either transfer the "disease"
or to kill the person and by being killed by the bite they were brought back from the dead as a vampire or creature of the night.
Other methods include Drinking the blood of a vampire, Cerimoney, dieing with unfinished buisness or with a great hatred,
in reality there may be many more, these are the ones I have hurd of.
Sorry but in addition you can look up
the "Scroll of elorath"
It has insite to the a rather unique beleif of it and also some history behind it.
Basically, as others have said, the process of "turning" isn't so much the "change" into a vampire, it's the awakening of traits that were already dormant in you. If a person isn't born with the condition, then no one is going to "change" them into a vampire.
Being born with the curse, being biten by a vampire, or by choosing the lifestyle. I beleive it's different for everyone. When you awaken or complete your turning thiings seem so different, more clear. It's like your mind is opened to a whole new world. Your beliefs change, and I feel you have better understanding of things in your life and eveything around you.
If we are talking about living modern vampires, the awakening being describes is the root 'transformation' that evidently takes place. It should be noted however that various groups within this lifestyle believe that certain rituals or actions can cause another to 'awaken' typically by feeding on them to the point that their own hunger rises out of self preservation...so in a sense this could be construed as a 'turning'.
I believe for all the changes are different. But I believe that the changes are simply the awakening is simply finding the things that were already within oneself.
this is just one of them I know.
Awakening Prayer
Benighted ones rise like the flames of Paradise burning to ruins.
Fallen is the throne with darkness overthrown ...the light drifts away.
Glory to those who raise the Dragons
sign before the altar of chaos and chant the sacred names,
that conjure the benighted.
Forever art thou
Eternal we live.
For there is life in the Blood
AZRAEL - release my immortal soul
I embrace the Angel of Death
through the blood my soul is forever reborn.
The Blood that is forever shall flow throughout these veins.
Awakened, and eternal;
thy kindred shall usurp and reign.
I rise unto the cosmos into the vast astral seas.
I embrace the darkness for all eternity.
Through the gates of rebirth I rise before thy deity whom stirs in primordial Chaos.
Thou art spawned from the sea.
The Blood that is Eternal
of the Chaos Breed
fills thy soul with hunger
to see thy prey bleed
Cold as the depths of winter’s frost,
our souls are ancient.
Awakened art thou to the world of spirits of the plane,
to walk the worlds eternally.
I am bestowed the pathway of the stars.
The path of the Vampyre that guides me unto everlasting life.
I drink the blood that is forever,
embracing the Scarlet Sacrament.
Having never gone through a "turning process", I can't really describe it.
"Turning" is more of a notion that one vampire can bite another and "turn" them into a vampire as well. I believe that is a lot of fiction.
However, in terms of the psychic vampires I would say that it is possible for someone to become temporarily one if they have been drained by one enough. There are several people who have been with psychic vampires as partners and have found themselves to be depleted as well. It's more of a sympathetic psychic vampirism, which fixes itself as soon as that person is away from the vampire who drains them.
Personally, I avoid that with my donors by cycling their energy that I take, using what I need and returning energy to them. This energy is refined and usually replaces anything I have taken to a greater effect on them. They may feel more energized because I have put refined energy back into them.
All conjecture, probably, but at the same time, it works for me and my donors.
There are so many stories about Turning that it's hard to decide which is fact and which is fiction.
I myself feel that you are turned whenever you feel that you are something that you weren't before or accept what you are whether you were bitten or not.
I think humans did know how we were changed but the facts were blurred and then they changed into stories, then ledgends, then myths.
I think it all depends if you are a sang, psy or other type of vampires, some just liek it said pop up and woke up, others had some fight inside themselves before admiting to themself they are what they are. I guess we cant really say it si like this and there is no way other then that. Its as different as there is defferent types of vampires
I have done a lot of reading on this and it has been said that not everyone can be turned into a vampire. Some who are born with the traits are awakened while those who do not have the traits can sometimes become something else some become zombie like creatures while some can not handle the change at all. But this is going more into the myth side of things.
Wild, chances are high that you will find a much better answer by searching the forums for the many threads about Awakening. This topic has been spoken of many times and there is a lot of good information in the archives.
I don't think a person can be turned into a vampire. I believe some people are just born a vampire. Many may not realize it until they are much older but some may understand their difference early in life. If you don't realize you are a vampire until you are much older, I believe that you go through your life always feeling that something is missing.
Wise advise Jenova. I suppose the theory and process of, "turning" is fascinating to most that visit this website :)
i apologize that i havent been able ro respond thouroughly i had to go but i think you have all brought many great thoughts to the table, i thank you all for the information and help.
to me to be awaken and opened for the first time it is new life is starting and new experences that come with it as well so I have been though it a few years back and it changed me forever into the person or vampire that I am today
yea true sometimes it becomes vital to change yourself or you cant live . i happened to change myself a lot because the things that gone wrong in my life just becase of trusting someone more than myself.
this "awakening" seems to be a rather painful mentally and physically but of course that is secondary to its obvious advntages. but i am still not completely convinced that vampires, as in te people that survive on blood, exsist, i do however believe in my own type of vampires, and of course many of you all's. the simple lifestyle of a vampire.
well in truth i think no1 can be "turned" your either born a vampire or not. but if you are a vampire, you can be "awakend" to the fact and taught how to deal with it
It is ..indeed diffrent for eveyone. The most common change starts by dreaming of vampires and rivers of blood..all the ways to connecting with other vamps thoughts and feedings. Then comes the thirst..then come the wanting to run away from sunlight..or burning..bad sunburning of skin. Then comes
the stumic thing, where it starts to change,
your organs turning for a new -life.
wich I've heard is painfull..And feels like a stumic flu..ten times over.Once you sick for 3 days..,you feel death and I guess die.
One one way...for real,or another wich is..
the once-was you. Then you wake the next night..reboren.
Other ways of change is always diffrent from person to person. It can be quick and painless,to painfull and horrible.
Well I guess my question would be are you talking about a vampire turning a human or a vampire becoming vampire?
Because I don't believe that a vampire can bite a human and turn him into a vampire. I believe that you are born one and that is it. I believe the transformation process is very difficult and painful. And if one is not strong enough then they will not make it through the transition.
I've heard different explanations on this subject One is that you are born as a vampire then you have an awakening. The other is and exchange of blood with a vampire. Although I am a little confused if that is called more of a bonding then a turning. Maybe someone hear can clarify.
this all seems to me rather difficult to believe but i suppose so are many things. so i dare not judge.
Hun, to be to the point, one simply is a vampire or one is not. There is no"turning" except in the movies, or on video game. we are born the way we are, tis not like a light switch.if i may be of some help to u , please message me.peace.
I agree with Nocturnis...it's simply the way you are. One doesn't choose to become a vampire...you either are or you aren't. It's another situation where Hollywood overdramatizes and makes silly assumptions
I don't think there was a moment in my live where I was "turned".. I think I was growing in this direction for a long, long time. I think the "aha" moment was when I discovered that I was not alone, maybe not even in a minority; there are LOTS of people who love the dark, occult, non-mainstream, romantic/horror genre.
ok- im probably of no use to this forum but i have to ask... are vampires even real? i believe in the unexplanable but the most ive ever really heard about all of it is the stuff in movies. obviously all that isnt true or either im understanding everything wrong. im not trying to put anyone down but im so confused. there seems to be a lot of posers and i cant tell the difference between whats real and whats fake so im asking for help.
i completely agree with vampirex. i dont really believe in the immortal vampire, i do believe in the lifestyle and i am beggining to understand what is going on, see people who are vampires are just people who enjoy the lifestlye, such as, if i were a prep i would be in the lifestyle of being a prep. of course there are some who make vampires an immortal thing. and some people just think that they are hollywood vampires aaaand i think that they are just delusional. hahaha
the awakening process is when your vampiric soul comes to life in the body you are in. it can ba a very mentally draining process and very confusing. some people sayt that they think that they are going crazy. but when the awakening is complete you can open your eyes and open your ears to see and hear things that you were not able to hear and see before. it brings you into a new perspective on your soroundings
Wildone- well at least im not alone but it seems that nobody can really explain this all to us. i dunno. i like the way you explained it though. it was offending, just honest and curious and that was what i was trying to get the effect of but i guess im not that good with words. lol.
The turning process or change. I don't believe that you "Turn" someone into a Vampire. I believe it is something we are born with. We are "Awakened" to the vampire in ourselves. Some people suppress this and other embrace it. If as children we were made aware of this, it might make the awakening easier and possibly sooner. But, turned to a vampire, I think not. My belief is that is a Hollywood tale.
Turning was never supposed to be a pretty process in myth, and it's not pretty in real life either. Again, I don't speak of the process of becoming an actual creature of the night who burns up in daylight and turns to ashes, and drinks blood only to survive.
I remember the process that made me vampiric and it is true what they say, refusing to be what one has become is hellish to say the least.
To me, the term "awakening" is much more accurate, and this process, the more it is fought against, is painful. I fought the prospect of being a psy vamp for 2 years before I finally accepted it.
"Embracing" to me is the process of embracing the reality of what one is. It has nothing to do with making someone else like yourself, though it could be argued that this is possible.
I don't believe there is a such thing as turning. Turning is commonly referred to by individuals as the point that they are made into a Vampire or Lycan. However, I don't believe that you can be made into anything that you are not already. This is something that you are born with. However, they may be using the term more freely by giving it the meaning of when an individual comes to the full realization of what they are. If this is the case then it is possible to be turned. It is very possible that someone may not know what they are until later in life.
From my own personal experience, you cant turn someone that doesnt want to be a vampire. It has to be at least a part of them already. All that you really are doing with them, is helping them to awaken themselves. Outside of that, I wish that I could help more, but I dont know of any other way.
There are warning signs that happen to many psi's before they awaken. Some, but not all, include:
• A stressful or painful moment in your life
• Clinical depression (normally uni-polar)
• Prone to sickness suddenly (get sick multiple times in quick succession)
• Drinks with citric acid start to cause stomach cramps
• Sunlight is tolerable, but is more sensitive than before
• A feeling of unexplained emptiness
• Strong sense of how those around you are feeling
• Those around you feel tired or cranky for no real reason
Often, those who are real vampires were/are drawn to the vampire, or the vampire mythos and image, from a young age, often reading or watching and finding that they related to or sympathized with them; they have always had an inexplicable interest in vampires. Sometimes they are drawn to dress or act "like a vampire does" in order to express themselves or to feel vampiric. They may have been drawn to experiment with blood, blood drinking or bloodletting and found that it suited them.
Other traits include migraine headaches; various gastrointestinal sensitivities and problems, such as intolerance for milk-products, and food allergies/sensitivities; mood swings, depression, melancholia; an acute sense of separateness from those in "normal, mundane society"; above-average intelligence; possibly diagnosed with hyperactivity or attention-deficit disorder.
WildOne,
What is your opinion of those who do not subscribe to the standardised image of the vampire lifestyle, but yet, still are able to identify with the symptomology and mindset of the vampiric state as defined by modern societal forms?
Also, what to you is the 'lifestyle'- something which you saw on TV, read about, or witnessed in others?
I am curious to know where your own curiosity on 'turning' comes from, so would greatly appreciate if you might be kind enough to indulge me with answers, to these few and meagre queries of my own.
Perhaps part of this "turning" is going from feeling like the prey to feeling like the predator. When you walk amongst people as a predator, they will seem alot different then if walk amongst them as prey. Think of how it would make someone feel if you looked at them while licking your chops and saying "I bet you'd taste good." The turning thing, in part at least, is probably coming to the realization that you are no longer the hunted, you are the hunter! (At least for the most part)
there is many ways to turn a mortal to a vsmpire. mainly involves drinking from each other. its a sexual experience and a great one at that
If you're not experiencing some of the things people are expressing, don't pursue it. It's not conducive to survival in the world.
God, I'm kind of a downer on these kinds of things, aren't I? Sorry about that. A healthy curiosity isn't something to be curbed. Be knowledgable and be logical, is all I'm saying. Which, looking at your responses, looks like you're pre-disposed to being logical, so kudos.
This isn't really a light shedding thread but I wanted to say that reading everyone elses responses has opened my eyes to the turning proces. I always had the movie and lore to back what I've always been curious about. Thanks to all who posted their opinions and knowledge. You've really opened my eyes. And thank you to the one who posted the Forum.
I fear, without age and knowledge, there can't be wisdom and understanding. But withou wisdom and understanding one can't see the overall picture and thus never reach a state of mind to be free.
To add another point of view here:
Being a vampire is one step on the way, so for me the becoming is not important, yet only, what follows.
I hear its a very painful prosses weather it be turning into a vampire or a werewolf. But meh, I prefer no pain and just living life as a Human.
This topic is in anyone's oppininon.
We are neither wholly born nor wholly made what we are. The choice for us to become was made long ago. From that time onward, we have been reborn again and again, carrying within us in every lifetime the seed of what we are.
Sometimes we forget ourselves, and wander our lives like sleepwalkers, only half-aware of our true natures. Yet sleeping or awakened, we are born with the potential for transformation.
Awakening is a process of expanded awareness. Anyone with gifts and talents of a subtle nature undergoes an awakening in their life. This is when they come into their own, finally accepting what has been latent within them since birth. For us, the process can be traumatic, as the existence we awaken to opens us up to a host of strange thoughts, sensations, and experiences which lie outside the limits accepted even by other Awakened.
Awakening is the alchemical forge in which we are transformed from dross to spiritual gold. It is the recalling of a part of our Selves that has become clouded over time. It is becoming more than the little self of this lifetime, grasping the totality of who we were and who we are to be -- our Essential Self.
Some of us have greater potential than others. Some are born with an instinctive understanding of their potential and they may gradually come to realize that potential on their own. They recall without prompting and their power is great.
The bulk of our number are born ignorant to what they are. As they grow and mature, there are subtle hints of the latent power, but fear and self-doubt generally keep these from being acknowledged and accepted. Such as these must be awakened to their true selves by another of our number already familiar to our ways.
There are two rituals of initiation. The Lesser Initiation is an exchange of feeding which occurs between the teacher and the initiate. The initiate is drained deeply, often for the first time. This heightens his awareness of his energy body and will often catalyze him into realizing his potential in the next few days. The sensations that this process inspires are usually too intense to ignore or explain away. If fed from deeply enough, his instincts will overcome him and he will feed from others in order to replenish his depleted system.
The Greater Initiation involves a ritual death and rebirth which occurs on both the physical and spiritual levels for the initiate. It is visionary and shamanic in nature and forces the initiate to face himself and all that he has been within the boundaries of his own soul. Like all deaths and rebirths, this ritual strips away old identities and assumptions. The little self of this lifetime is subsumed into the greater Self, and the initiate is irrevocably changed. This rite is reserved for only the strongest minds, for any who are weak or filled with fear may not survive the initiation. Their minds can be blown away like dry autumn leaves in the face of the totality of who they are.

the one we here down here in the south alot involves a cemetry, full moon and 2 people. one person cuts(bites) the changling in the cemetry at night and passes them into vampirism. i think it's a crock, i never went near a cemetry.
I think there is no one singular way for the mythological vampire to be turned. In various shows and books it is done differently.
It's not so much a turning, more of an awakening. You are born not "bitten" to be a vampire. Because of hollywood, media and books there are those out there that believe you have to be bitten and drink blood. Not true. And the awakening is different for everyone.
i agree with bloodshrouddream in that it is more of an awakening than a turnign process
I would agree with the above post it was more of an awaking not so much a turning
I drew every rune of the Futhark alphabet on my chakras and invoked the chaotic energies of thurisaz to empower them, I am not quite vampire now though I am like a cross between a vampire and a werewolf...lol
the act of turnning for me was more of an awakenning but i have turned others by draning their life force till they were a shell then infused eitheir my blood or lifeforce into them
i believe no one person can be turned i think that is part of the hollywood screen but an awakining alows a person to bring out the dormant side of themselves as i was awakened buy someone like myself
It almost seems like it is akin to 'becomming an adult' or going thru Adolescence..
with the 'turn' or 'awakening'
Interesting thread
there's a few ways i've heard of, there's being born as one, then there's the one with ritiuals and then ur turned and then u die after a few hundred years of depression and then there's the one getting ur blood drank and then drinking their blood and everything's all hunkey dorry those are just a few ways tho
there is no way to turn a person into a vampire you must be born one
