I heard of this on the news It was photographed someone called it in and people say it is a giant panther. So I ran a search on it what do you think is it just some ones pet that got out or is it something strange?
heard about that ages ago. my friend clamed to have seen somthing but couldnt tell what it was. so she clamed but she is famouse for telling the tallest tailes there is.
hard to believe in that,i would say anything is possible but i am highly doubtful,it could just be a common animal roaming around.
but good for the imagination is one thing.
Would that be the beast of Bodmin by any chance ?
If so at least some evidence ie, dead animals have been found but not enough info or money to run tests to find out.
Do you recall that Gordon Ramsey called in experts to find out what killed one of his sheep ?
It costs thousands of pounds and they could only say it may be a big cat.
maybe it is a regular animal just doing what it can to survive and when people see it, and they have never seen it before, their imaginations get the best of them.
from it seems its only some sort of big cat, well bigger then cat, more like a puma of different color
may be some help but a friend of mine (yes another one) told me that some species of indoor cats can grow to a big size (smaller than the really big cats but still big) and well they are house cats n they still eat mice n eat cat food n stuff so maybe that could be the cause.
There has been rumors about more then one big cat in different places. A few family members mentioned this to me about how someone called their name and they turned around and there was a big cat in the distance.
Theres also been rumors about a big cat in our nature reserve where I live. Not to mention people found real footprints. So I don't really think its just there, its many places. Its very interesting.
Looks like a large cougar to me, possibly a puma, but who knows.
The legend of the Dartmoor Mystery Beast can be traced back to ancient Scandanavia. Spawned from the very loines of the devil's housecat. A panther-like scale-clad flesh eating herbavor, the Mystery Beast, also known as the Tribilitarious has been known to grow up to thirteen inches, with a wing span of six apples- twice the length of a smurf.
Now that's a big cat, it is beautiful. It does look like a large cougar.
I just read the artical, and my guess would be an extreemely large male cat. Someone may even have had an exotic pet tiger, for instance, and let it go free because it was too hard to care for.
If it is a puma or some other species of big cat i have often wondered how they got here, as its not a standard 'zoo' or 'wildlife park' animal.
But its not only Devon where sightings have been - http://www.bbc.co.uk/insideout/yorkslincs/series4/index_big_cats_yorkshire_lincolnshire_sightings.shtml - incredible to think firstly that idiots with no real understanding of the animals can keep them as 'pets' and then have the inhumanity to want to let them loose, only to hunt them down.
Sadly, many morons out there want to go and have exotic animals. Then, two days later, they realize they can't handle it and can't hide the illegality of it -- so they dump the animal. People are so dopey.
Ive been there so many times but not seen anything
Been told it is a huge panther though:)
The image appears to be fake. The grain texture and the light levels of the animal and the background scene do not match. As a Photoshop expert, it was easy for me to see.
yeah i agree it looks fake i doubt it's real at all. and like they said, imaginations running wild.
It looks fake, but if it is real it does look like a big panther, it is possible for animals to grow larger than they are meant to be...
Going on the reports stated above, i do think it may be in the lions family or related something strange may come to mind if they have not spotted it or trapped it yet. a mysteries plot.
it seems to be a fake pic , but if you go according to sightings then it does sound like a large cat , perhaps larger than normal due to the lack of competition for food sources in the region
hmmm it looks kinda fake to me... it would be hard to think that something like that would just be freely roaming
I think it is bogus. The image looks fake and the stories make it to sound like a large cat. Someone probably had an animal they weren't supposed to and let it loose. Now it is fending for itself.
I think it's alot like our american big foot, lotta stories, supposed sightings etc..
LOL Yeah, I agree with the people that think this is some kind of big cat. I don't believe this is a monster any more than I believe in the Yeti or Sasquatch.
It's entirely possible that it could be come kind of abnormally large mutated version of a big cat.
ok found site that includes some pictures of the beast..

heres the site if u want to check out more

Well I've heard about it and we had a similar thing round where I live it was all over the news and news papers a large black cat seen prowling the streets I actually know someone who was attacked by the one round by use from the huge scare on the back of his leg's defiantly a very large cat
Ah the dart moor beast, my home. I lived on the moors for a while.
For those who don’t know we have protected land and very old stone age sites stone circles….. here are some pics the area is very barren and hounds of the Baskervilles was wrote about this place.
http://www.richkni.co.uk/dartmoor/tors.htm
the mist can roll in fast, and the landscape deadly with marshes, cliffs, potholes that break legs… we have a prison out there and if anyone escapes, the rescue team is sent to save a life rather than catch him lol
In the navy they drop you off in helicopters and you have to survive and make your way to a check point with the army looking for you. I know the area like the back of my hand and spent a couple of days partying, got dropped off around the corner from the check point … they asked my team who lives in the area as we were clean and shaved lol
everyone else was missing or half dead n very muddy.lol
anyway I was commissioned to make a cage to capture this beast and set up the cams and everything ….. nothing , absolutely nothing ……. Just free money for me.lol
it is possible for a circus to of let it’s cats go and they live on the moor
Poneys grow wild and are rounded up for French people and made into dig food n glue so enough foods doesn’t even have to eat the sheep… not that you would know as I know people who take one now n then and fill the freezer. There are very old mines and wells, from tin mining and gold, so they fall down them extra all the time.
The area has ghostly stories about dogs (hounds of the Baskerville) and large demon cats, you can hear old battles and so forth… a right spooky time.

I have been out on the moors for some time and have experienced lots of good stories and chased lights shadows and so forth.
Yes I saw something, no I don’t think it was a cat, I think it’s the hound of darkness hells hound they call it ……
The beast of dartmorr, bodmin, exmoor, all quite possibly big cats, one picture looks like a wild boar.as long as it hurts no one.let it be.
no it was defo an escaped pet. Like Loch Ness the mystery will remain.
Amazing pics, not a cat by the appereance and structure of it. more in the canine family, yet like to see a face shot. very amzing. a mystery no doubt.
OOh, beware the moors! Reminds me of American Werewolf in London. Same MO.
I agree with suavevamp looks like a wild boar to me....quite a few roaming round I'm told.
I think its possable that it could be a bore.
On the news the video that was aird looked like a puma.
It could be a large wolf or wildcat. Or it could truly be some beast. Either way I hope its never found and its left alone for the rest of its life...
i used to know a very large black cat who was a pet.he was found as a kitten on a camping holiday in scotland.some bioligists came to visit him and said he is unknown to science.he was at least double the size of a domestic cat.he was very nice and purryfull.there is a native british species of wild black cat the size of a medium dog.
I have to agree with Unigon on that first pic as I am a Photoshop expert as well and its way too easy for someone to fool people with Photoshopped pictures unless they have a trained eye. The other pic looks like a boar or something but again, it's too grainy. Why can't anyone have a decent camera??? lol
erm this is in the UK guys, there aren't any native big cats, wolves or bears. You can't have them as pets anymore either
The legends and 'sightings' have gone back a long time, longer than a wild animal would live.
Unless someone is managing to smuggle cats into the country and then letting them go every so often, or they released a really quiet breeding pair, its not likely
Dartmoor is actually quite small, but it is really wild, desolate with really quick weather extremes, peat bogs - most animals not native to the moor don't survive too long
The savaged sheep that people find are usually down to abandoned pet dogs gone nuts.
The rest is something to do with the tourist industry I reckon
Maybe it some kind of mutated panther, or it could be some kind of weird mixed breed between to different animals, or it could be fake, until someone catches one no one will ever know...
hmm, this is the first I've ever heard of this. Quite interesting. I admit I hope it ends up being what we don't expect it to be. Predictability is soooo annoying : )
