What could explain a vampires hypnotic abilities.

I wouldn't say hypnotic, but with a real vamp, people are just drawn to them.

in the movies vampires have a hypnotic glaze that they use to cull their victims.Some vampires are portrayed with chimeric ability as well.

Could their fearless demeanor play a part in it,or projections of some sort.

Perhaps it's more charisma than any charm or form of hypnotism...

i believe what you are referring to is there gaze they have. i think it is not really a power but the way there eyes are the way they charm there victims with there eyes. they lull them in to a false sense of safety. thats just my thoughts on it.

some poeple have natural habilities to with their voice and eyes induce others, somealso have a charisma trhat can influence others greatly.

There is reverence for the dead and the eyes of a vampire I am sure are solid and unwavering and look into them and you will see........a never ending ....how rested you can feel....the steadiness of the voice the stillness of a being with no heart beat to be touched by a dead hand that is animated...shivers out of trance....

it is just like humans.we all have pheromones that attract us to others,perhaps the vampires just have stronger pheromones

Yes people would also became predictable.Plus the Money vampires posses to create lairs and gain afluence .carring a promise of immortality around mortals ...telling them "not to worry "they will live forever at first sound awesome I am sure I would be stumped and hooked for a moment.

Those with vampiric, or otherworldly gifts, can hone in on those who are sympathetic to them. The auras around people who have gifts are quite strong, and pull people into their orbit sometimes.

I would not say it is hypnosis... I would say that it is more... smooth talking.. I can't think of the word that I want to use and it is hard to describe... It's when someone is trying to get you to do what they want you to do and instead of outwardly asking you they 'charm' you in some way... and like Othis said they already seem to know some of your thoughts etc.

In the end they end up asking themselves why they agreed to do this because... if they had not had the person 'charming' them they would not have.

I know because that is something that I do without realizing it. I guess I had been doing it for years before anyone even told me that I did it.

Maybe there is a connection with the eyes though... because when it works the most effectively ppl, either while I am doing it or aftwords, will tell me that they feel like all they have to do is look into my eyes and they see an all knowing person who can 'read' their thoughts and know all their memories. (I wouldn't say I do that.... I could never know all of someones memories, I mean come on.)

So maybe that is where some people might get the hypnosis from.. I have been accused of hypnotising ppl when really I wasn't. (It gets irritating)

Also body language has a lot to do with it... the body language is very simple to get down.

I would say it depends on how long they had been a vampire. Abilities grow over time.

There was a previous thread about vampire pheremones. One theory anyway. Hypnosis is a learned ability, so figure the average person might struggle with for a while, but if you are Dracula or the likes you have the special powers.

some vampires are telephatic others physcic it all depends on their abilitys. some succabus charm with their beauty others who feed off of terror will scare the hell out of you. it all depends.

if vampires can use hypnosis, why would they have to 'lure' their victims in, instead of just using that hypnosis to force them in? i'm curious about that!

Hypnosis is the second phase 'lure"them in and then Hypnotize.I think to have a repeat donor this would work best.

I for one am not into people being all up in my personal space. Anyone with big fangs and creepy eyes that is getting cozy with me is getting a knuckle sammich! (unless she is really, really hot and naked...then I might have to cave.)

A vampire's gaze ... well the eyes are powerful features ... looking into the eyes can either make you feel safe or send a chill down your spine to run the other way. So if they can somehow harness this and exude a sense of safety, their victims will be entranced and come to them.

I really like the blinding white teeth theory, but a snazzy cape or pheromones could be just as valid.

definately, their eyes, oncew you lock on to that gaze you dont want to look away, you want to get closer to it. it makes you feel safe and wanted.

Perhaps like humans vampire give off a kind of pharmone. And maybe it's just a lot stronger than human pharmone. This way it's really hard to resists

From personal experience, and this is my own opinion that i have come to based on my own research someone can add something else, but BloodAngelX has it pretty much the closest with the pharamone theroy. My whole life ive gotten ppl that i meet randomly telly me thet they are drawn to me for some unknown to them reason. From what i have studied Vamps have a natural charisma to them, kinda swirls within the aura, and like pharamons cirtian ppl pick up on it and are attracted to it. with humans its like a few ppl to a few ppl, however with us Vamps, it happens on a more often level. As far as it being hyponotic abilities... thats just the wonderful world of hollywood putting its spin on things. Im hoping that this was somewhat helpful... and as i mentioned its is based on my own studies.

I have read several stories where the vampire could compel you with his voice, and some could catch you in their stare, I think it just depends on what the author wants the vampire to do, who they catch their prey.

A Vampire's Hypnotic abilities comes from deep inside them they have to use quite a bit of Vampiric Energy. All they need to do, is hold the victim with both hands over the victim's ears, and look straight deeply in the victim's eyes...and this powerful energy clashes with the victim, giving the Vampire control over what his/her victim does.

Well that is to say that vampires even have hypnotic abilities. Honestly I think that if they did it would be the fact that that something in their blood line gives them great power over conducting energy
