I got to cross something off my silly little SoCal staples bucket list. Despite having lived in and around LA County pretty much my entire life, there are quite a number of things I have never done. But, Saturday I got to cross one thing off, thanks to Logan. We went to go see Wake Up Dead Man for it's limited theatrical release. I saw they were doing a run at the TCL Chinese Theatre. I've been close to it, I've been to the Pantages, and the El Capitan which are both on the same street, but I've never actually been to the Chinese Theatre. It was really cool, despite it being an absolute tourist trap on Hollywood Blvd, but, to be that close to some of old Hollywood, it's pretty cool. Seeing the names, the hand and feet prints of actors of a bygone era, and newer ones as well, is neat if you're into the history of Hollywood, or a cinephile. Also, the movie was really good, and one I recommend when it hits Netflix this month.
So, yeah, it was silly and super touristy, but I'm glad we were able to go. Next item I hope to check off soon is going to the Griffith Observatory, which I've never been to. I think going either later this year, or early next year would be nice. Spend the day, catch the sunset over the city. The pictures you can get from the view there can be pretty amazing. The one thing I probably won't be able to cross off, that I really want to, is going to the Magic Castle. Logan used to know people, but I guess those connections have been lost over the years. You can get tickets to the Magic Castle if you stay for like, 2 nights at the hotel associated with it, but that's a lot of money to waste on seeing some magicians. I've looked, and the hotel isn't the cheapest. So, maybe we'll get to do it before we move, but if it doesn't happen, that's okay. I'm so lucky that Logan is willing to indulge me and my silly wants sometimes. We didn't have to see the movie at the Chinese Theatre, there were a number of others in the Hollywood area that were playing it, but I said I'd never been and always wanted to go so he made it happen. He's the best and I love him so much.
