What was it that made you fall in love with Vampires?
I was only 3 yrs of age when I saw my very first vampire movie. Which was The Lost Boys. Ever since then I have had a love for vampires and everything about them.
When I was a kid, I started watching "Dark Shadows" a Vampire soap! I was like 9 years old. I've loved Vampires ever since!
I have been drawn ever since I could remember... very young. When I was a somewhat older child I would check out every book on the subject watch every movie I could see. Of course back then there were no DVD's , VHS ect.
Back then kids had parents who actually monitored what they watched on TV or at movies (at least on our social circles) lest they gave you night mares.....not me they were dreams. Always thinking it was not fair they always killed the vamp or Dracula. Why? Meanies! Bela Lugosi was my first , then along came Christopher Lee as far as actors who beautifully portrayed, for its time, the fictional idea of it all, but I always knew deep in my heart there was much more to it than the Hollywood hype.
The ability to do almost anything you want without the weakness of conscience.
I thought they were interesting. I always felt that they weren't exactly like the movies portray them to be. Some people actually said I was one because I have pale skin and fangs lol.
I'm not sure when my attraction to vampires started...I do know that I am still attracted and sometimes repulsed by them though.
My attraction came back in 2006 when I watched Queen of the Damned for the first time EVER.....
I have been in love with them ever since.
Ever since before I can remember my attraction to vampires has been present. Once old enough I began reading up on them, watching movies documentaries, anything I could do to get a better insight, and always knew the truth behind the stories.
Ever since I was little I had an attraction to all things of the fantasy world. Magic, dragons, vampires, angels... all of it appealed to me, probably because I could see more then those around me. For vampires in particular I don't know exactly when the fixation rested on them, but I remember feeling an affinity for their apparent loneliness, the way they had to isolate themselves from the rest of the world. Their strength, their beauty, the dark and mysterious world they lived in just always seemed to suit me better then my own bright, loud, sunny world.

My interest is on various levels, but my initial attraction on the fictional side was in the 50s. I watched Vampira on a local tv station. I was fascinated by her character and many of the movies she showed included vampires. I liked reading the books but not so much in later times. I read a few Anne Rice but got bored with them after awhile. Historically the information is debateable and colored by superstition. I found the topic appealing for personal reasons and an interest in folklore and myth.
I've always been attracted to Vampires. It got more intense as I got older.
When i was in my early teens. My upbringing was quite strict as to what i was allowed to watch. So when i had a sleep over at a friends house we sat and watched The Lost Boys since then i have been hooked.
>...Well. If I am correct, Humans did not started Loving Vampires, but, Vampires always love Humans because their blood supply. There was no Love, or affection, but fear, when everything started so many years ago. So, the misconception about when the Love for Vampire start is all a Hollywood performance to make money and to create the "friendship" between the Vamp community and the Human race a reality.
I've always been strange and unusual and so Vampiristic things sort of became a second nature.
It started when i was about 7 and i watched the lost boys.My late great grandmother was the one to sneak over the horror films, after expressing my attraction and curiousity for the creatures of the moie did i learn the truth about my family secrets. Once my grandmother told me of her true nature i have been researching ever since. I have always been drawn to the darker side of things, lways prefered to play outside at night and was never afraid. my fasination is for what i believe to be the true vampire no the fictionalized ones on videos
Pinewood Studios in the Uk had a director named Hammer who made some of the best classic vampire films with Christopher Lee. The women vampires were beautiful as well, and presented a very romantic vampire visage as well.
When I was about eight or nine y/o I saw the movie "Dracula" (1931). Later on, I read the Bram Stoker book "Dracula". It was these two moments that gave me a love for all things dealing with Vampires.
After I read Anne Rice's books i was hooked, i read it in the 5th grade and have had an overwhelming desire to learn all i could. since then i've purchased every vampire related piece of media i could get my hands on with the exception of twilight, i borrowed my sisters book read it and weeped, it really hurt my dark little heart.
I think it started for me with the horror movies that my brother used to watch when I was little. I always was interested in darker things being the weird little kid on the school playground reading Tommyknockers or Bram Stoker while the other kid's played.
I read Bram Stoker's Dracula when I was around 7 or 8 and I read just about every book I could my hands on dealing with anything supernatural after that.
I was a small child, AMC still played black and white horror movies on halloween and I saw dracula's daughter (193?) and I felt very sorry for her in that movie.
When I realized she was not like Tv portrayed her.
As with Vlad, she was the victim of lifes cruel twists, and tho she wished for death, she found me instead.
Our negative energies cancelled each other out to Zero.
What got me to fall in love with vampires was the thought of immortality. I really do fear that i won't be able to do all the things i want to do before i die... but if i were to live forever then i know i would be able to do everything i want... i would be able to base jump off the eiffel tower, to climb mount everest, to sleep with japanese twins at the same time... lol... not to mention i would be able to make loved ones immortal as well so i would have so much more time with them... i wouldn't feel as though i lost them too soon...
so in other words you all love hollywoods version of us. if I may actually a lot of it is rather offensive to those who follow vampyrism we are not blood thirsty monsters infact we have a rather large amount of self control.i hope I am not coming across as rude but the hollywood definition is just horrid. actually there is one book I have found that portrays at least the young psy vamps accurately to a point and that is the House Of Night Series
was about 3 or 4
combination of watching Addams Family, Munsters, Dark Shadows and Horror movies my uncle who was 12 years older then me that he watched when had a girlfriend over when he was babysitting me
my love of vampyre started when i was young and a at 16 found out i was a vampyre myself so i understand the fact now that i am older however my granparents are really superstious and i knew i was different even as a child so vampyres have always been part of my life so i think my love for others of my kind has been a blessing in disguise and i've been looking for others of my kind for awhile however it is not easy due to the fact that i have been into vampyes for as long as i can remeber
ive always known i am different than others my siblings included.....and when i was 15 i met a group of people who had a coven and their master tried to do things to scare me and i was never scared of him,the things he did or any of his members i actually felt quite comfortable with all of them....so the coven master was fansinated with me because i wasnt easily scared and i found him to be quite normal.....i have always been drawn to out of the norm and dark unsual things and ideas but there is a calmness i feel when im around vampires.....maybe it was ment to be
Well for starters I am a Vampyre. And being awakened as young as I was means I done remember when I Loved myself and others like me.
I can't recall exactly when, but it intensified while watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Loved the whole genre since I was a toddler watching cheesy Hammer Horror movies. Adore the Hammer Horrors, Countess Dracula, The Vampire Lovers and Christopher Lee's Dracula. The novels that first captivated me were Le Fanu's Carmilla and of course Stokers's Dracula. I was always into mythology and I adore Vampire Folklaw of different Countries.
my dads a very abusive guy and as a kid i always dreamt a vampire cam to protect me
As much as I hate to admit it, back when i was single digits watching Buffy.
when I first watched Bram Stoker's dracula I learned vampires are Satanic creatures of the night and that appealed to me.
As a child growing up i felt like there was somthing missing. ever since i discovered vampires it felt like that was my missing family. like this was where i needed to be.
I awakened when I was thirteen but as far as the fictional side of it I honestly never liked vampire movies other than the movie Interview with a Vampire which came out till I was in my 20s
The mysteriousness and evil that completes them, I would say.
Who isn't attracted to the "darkness" of the human spirit by some form or another?
I mean... Look how many members VR currently has.
I have always been attracted to them ever since I was a little girl. I even dreamt about them.
When I was four or five, I saw the movie "the little vampire" for the first time with my sister. We both fell in love with vampires right then and there. All the kids wouldtease us and belittle us. And all we would do is hiss back in return, knowing they were just too shallow to understand that we had something special. I got sick shortly after, and my sister would always tell me that my blood was just getting sweet, so my vampire prince charming would like it. Then she got sick too, and we just waited, every night as our blood got less and less iron, thinking it was a good sign that the supplements didn't help. We really thought we were turning into vampires. In a way, I suppose we were right
Like most people here, when I was little, they were just cool. Kind of scary, kind of fun. I didn't read/watch any vampire movies/books, I just liked the shroud of the type.
When I came to actually start reading the books, they bored me - and so do most of the movies they've come out with.
It's not that I love them now, it's more that they're a curiosity.
And I mean that entirely in the fantasy sense - because we all know they're not real. ;]
When I was younger I saw Bram Stokers Dracula and it completely changed my views on vampires. Normally I thought them scary and mean but too see a vampire although undead and beatless heart could manage to love period especially a human it completely warpped my world for the better in my opinion and now I welcome the ideas of anything supernatural not as a fear but a curiosity to learn more and to get over any fear I may have.
Ever since I was a small child I have had a yearning to learn and read about these dark creatures. There is so much information and myths and lores that surround there history.
For me it was with Buffy. I was nine when I saw Buffy which made me get into it. My first Vampire crush was on Brad Pitt in Interview With a Vampire but I always and still to this day love Spike. Something about that world had me very attached. Underworld, Queen of the Damned and True Blood is also the other Vampire movies / show that I have respect for. I don't appriciate Twilight but to each their own. I just believe in what I have with vampires when I grew up as a child and not what is out today (which is bullshit). So that is pretty much it.
Wow ok this is a while ago but it was more than likely Elvira and then the soap Dark Shadows I think it was, and Buffy was what really really got me into them.
I remember in my elementary school all the kids saw vampires as monsters but I just adored. The first vamp film I saw was a Dracula film. Was totally into it and watched it several times as a young child.
I guess I was just always drawn to them.
Bram Stoker kindled the interest for me. His portrayal of the tragic Dracula was always a story that hits my inner softy.
I have always loved Vampires.
The very first time I got to pick my costume for Halloween for myself, I chose to be a vampire.
They are just so fascinating!!
They're so far from what society considers 'normal' so they always catch my attention
20 years ago when i was four my grandmother took me to wal-mart and told me to pick out a halloween costume i came back rocking my first pair of fake fangs and holding my first dracula costume i've been hooked ever since :D
I have always loved them always dreamed one came to me and he still does once in awhile to check up on me.
I was at my dads house and we spent a whole day watching the lost boys and tales from the crypt. After that it was an all the time occasion at our house
The power and the mysticism. The possibility that they might be real and there was some magic left in the world.
I have loved them ever since I remember. My favorite character on sesame was, well still is, the count.
I met my husband two years ago.since then i started to like vamps and i realise that they are nothing like on the movies.they are like us but, stronger, faster, more misteryus.they know more of life, more educated and iterested in a lot diferent things.
As a teen I identified with Vampires as being loners, outsiders and yet they have this mystique that I consider very romantic and stealth like.
Actually, I never had much intrest.. untill they
started coming to me. Then I got curious, started
watching movies, then reading out of books and
then once I started reading my fave dark romance
vampire novels.. and becomming friends with them..
when they come around.. My world seem to be more
complete. This was when I was 25 years old.
Seem to have attracted them.. by my sleeper within.
since i was a kid i new i was diferent then humans around me.at age of 13 i had a remenision on my past lives and since then till now i am a vampire
i have always loved vamps. i dream of being one all the time :) i wanna be able to do everything a vamp can do and i find biting someone to be very erotic ;)
started by watching nosferatu thats right the old ass black and white vhs hell yea...since then i watched countless vampire movies and researched into vlad dracula and sent intot he world of darkness through my research.
i kept finding more and more proof that vampires could exsist in the real world...there are vampiric traits in our gene pool that over time could be unlocked.
so vampires are very much real and very much alive and very different from hollywoods perception and awe they make them look out to be..and yes some vampires sparkle..if they are gay and put on freaking body glitter...
I never fell in love with the idea of Vampire, nor did any other real vampire types. It is an empty state of sorrow brought about by unbearable pain. Makes me laugh somebody would want that, really...careful what you wish for...The difference between us and them is they see Le stat and think,...mmm sexy. We recall the death of Vlads wife, kin and men and understand his persecution, anger and his blinding inner wrath.
I'm of Irish background so my family goes way back so in Dublin my family still live and believe in the old ways so before I was born I was picked out really for my first husband as a peace offering so I was trained and raised from age three to accomadate my life to the life of Vampireism and when I was 13 I was marked and when I was 16 I was married to my betroved and he was 16 years older than me and I was taught the nature of what he was and why he was the way he was so for me it really never was a choice it was a way of normal life for me so I have been truly lost sense he died in 1992 so now I am the Mistress of a vampire coven out here and it is just normal everyday life for me as well as all of the coven. Vampire Rave is a nice outlet for me to relax and meet new interesting people and learn there way of life and beliefs as well:)
When I was in 4th grade I did my first real report on Vampires, but it seems as if I have always, as long as I can remember, dreamed of being part of that world. In fact, I remember watching "Dark Shadows* as a very small child.
i feel not very many people understand what it is to be a vampire. Being swamped by visions of grandeur and seduction, i suppose, is an easy way to forget the self-hatred and soul-crushing loneliness.
For me I must say the darkness that surrounds vamps....Just the thought of strenth and eturnal life is what makes me love it a lot more
My interest and then fascination with the Vampire began while professionally researching ancient sexuality that ultimately hit upon the foundational identifier of the descendants of those commonly referred to in Judeo-Christianity as "Fallen Angels"... and then traced them through history to the Central-Eastern European Vampire.
In 1986, during Communism, the subject was banned, still I managed to read about vampires in a collection of fantasy. An article was dedicated to the book of Stoker and the Dracula Society.
And that started my rave.
I had to wait a few years and after the fall of Communism in Romania in 1991 I was able to read the first edition of Dracula by Bram Stoker translated in Romanian (Universe Edition). The book had a strong impact on my adolescence and until today the subject is fascinating for me.
As long as i can remember i have always had a fascination with the paranormal. The unbelievable to me has always been belivable.
I never had a real interest in vampires at all until i had a very interesting psychic encounter with one in a dream. From then on, it grew more into research and learning.
Ever since I knew that the term related to a part of what I am.
since i was raised with the 80's tv, i always liked myths, especially the dark ones and my favorite were vampires, this increased after watching buffy and queen of the damned.
When people around me began to look into the matter and actually display their love and portray the vampire culture. I decided to look into it and see why those around me were so fastinated by it
I've always loved the fantasy genre. In 1993 I bought a comic book that was based off a movie, Bram Stoker's Dracula. Soon after I watched the movie and it's been my favorite ever since.
I was young when I became infatuated with my vampire brothers and sisters. I was 13 in human yrs when I first came into my abilities and the power is incredible. Though, I would not wish it among anyone to choose a life such as this but, it is quite amazing to learn of my pureblood vampiric being I am
Youth I was amazed at the lore in which vampires and other mythical creatures became to our history. Fasinated started reading and watching films or movies which drew me more into the realms of the myths and lores. Yet in some tales or movies some truth lies behind the scences in which we watch/ yet new hollywood has bashed the fables of the stories to get the hipe out of the box office.
hmmm for me
i was always drawn to darker tings since i was young. i loved how they made the vampires scary , i also loved the romantice side to it as well. it also made we try to learn spells and read more into the occult. i was able to do my own style of blood reading.
i also love dark shadows , and the dark shadows book, night world by l.j. smith
Just a fancy that was initiated with a seductive woman who like to bite.
I have to say watching The Lost Boys for the first time since I was a little boy, I've been into obscure things and found vampirism as something I loved. Even tasting my own blood for the first time for chewing my gum too hard I fell in love with it lol
since 1 was 10 old years...
im always love vampire movies
I never had the greatest affinity for the fictional side of vampires, strangely. For one, something always felt off to me. Second, in most fiction the "good" vampire/otherkin is the one that acts like just your average person. Yes, there are many who would choose that, but a fiction that says the monster aspect is necessarily evil has always disturbed and even hurt me. As far as the other side of it all goes, it started to interest me after my very young awakening, when many aspects began to make sense to me either because of the past regressions I'd done or just thinking about it.
My first experience of vampires was probably a movie or cartoon of sometype, however the experience that started the love was the reading of the Darren Shan series, when I was 8, although at this young age I was scared of blood and gore, the books made me see that these "creatures" that I had disliked, where just humans, that had chaged, or be it evolved. From then on I started the childish love that I still have today.
Oh wow - Darren Shan! Thanks for that reminder. Yes, I loved these stories as well. In fact, I don't think I finished the series. Distracted by life and such. Perhaps I should look them up. Did you see the movie that was made, Tragic?
My love of vampires came from an old book I found in a library. At the time I was really shy and all I liked books and just drawing all the time. So I found this one about Dracula and I became hooked. My mom raised me with a love for fantasy which is why I love secret realms vampires werewolves, the works.
I have been in love with vampires since I was lil. I have always been in love with the dark and the tast or sight of blood has never bothered me! I have always felt that my life should have been different that I did not belong around most people. I have always been differnt than everyone else. When I read books or see movies I feel like I am more like them and wishing that I could be should be apart of that world!!
I don't care for much modern portrayal of what a Hollywood production says is a vampire.... however i have love the mythology and the tales from the early and 18 century. Its is quite interesting how different a vampire is from one country to the next. Fascinating.
I honestly wish I could remember. Probably movies on Disney channel when I was a kid. I was always into anything with witches and werewolves and vampires. My all time favorite as a kid was Hocus Pocus. I started writing vampire stories when I was 13 or 14, I believe.
My love has allways been there even in kindergarden when they asked what we wanted to be when we grow up and I answered I wanted to be a vampire.
Well i think it started when i very young. Then in like kindergarden i took a chunk out of some poor child's arm. *chomp* lol ver since then i loved to bite. As i got older the fasanitation got worse. I always read the vampire chronicles! And ithink i read dracula like 100 times lol my mom wld always read a damn gaiety tale or something. Lol that was my fairy tale though!
