The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

In my attempts to write my own vampire short stories, I've wondered what types of vampires people prefer? The "Blade" vamps? Anne Rice vamps? And so I ask you, forum posters, to please describe the type of vamps you are/prefer: abilities, temperment, society, whatever you deem relevant. I will be at an acting competition all of next week, so if you ask me to post back it probably won't happen till I get back, but I wanted to put this out there and see what I get. Thanks!

On the guy side, i think vampires like Lestat are really hot...On the girl side, vampires (or dhamphirs) like Blood Rayne are very sexy and they kick ass (literally)...

I prefer the Anne Rice style of vampires...The historical, period vampires. Very appealing.

I like the Underworld vamps... it's good to know that all vampires isnt good.. some are Evil and some are the good once... I love the Pale skinn and the light/ice blue eyes... hair color doesnt matter!...

I like the romantiscism and style of the old vamps and I like the edge and style of the new. I think a combination of lestat and blade would be good for a male. It's hard to pinpoint a good female as the media doesn't seem to like the image of female vamps and there's not really a good modern example (except maybe within the rave). I think too many writers forget that some vamps should have been alive for centuries and forget the air of intelligence and mystique that vamps should have.

THe perfect male vampire is Radu Vladislas.ANd for female I would also have to say Vampire Willow.

I'd go with the Anne Rice vamps too...

don't write about vampires that are scared of garlic or a wooden crosss..that's lame, vamps are made out to be gracefull and sexy on screen but i think they'd be more like monsters then sex symbols..

Hmm.. my perfect Vampyress? Twould have to be like Akasha in QotD, but maybe with a more echoey voice. I dont know why, but i love Echos, or rooms that echo heh..

The old hammer horror vixens do it for me. Males; I'd have to say Lestat,, mmhmm.... And David from the lost boys... I don't even know who willow is.... (my bad)...
But on the writing side, it has to come from your soul...... A new breed....

I don't have a "perfect" vampier.. I have so many was at different times that they would look..

I dont know if i have a "perfect" vamp. There are so many I like, its very hard to choose. I love the old fashioned, Anne Rice style vamps, but the newer modern ones are great too. Deacon Frost from Blade was sexy, too bad his ego and quest for power got the best of him. Lost Boys-ah, I love them too! More modern and able to blend in. women vamps-Bloodrayne, Maharet,Vampirella,Gabrielle-strong, sexy kick ass women!!

I think it would be best maybe to try something original? I don't know I get sick of everything being turned into sex symbols and action figures. but hey that's just me.

Hmmmm, to me, one of the most imortant things is a deep stare. Those eyes that entrance you, where you cannot possibly pull away. ;)

Dan and I write vampire stories often. He published his and I have oodles of "someday when I have nerve" stuff. My own opinion is write what moves YOU! Yes some people may not get it, but the others probably will. If you ask what they want, chances are they will ask for something they have already seen. This is something I personally stay away from because of *ahem....copywrite laws. Mind you of that, as I do everytime I sit and write.

What makes me pick up a vampire book, novel, movie, comic, forum, or anything is the potential of seeing something I haven't seen yet, or an unexpected twist.

My 'dust' collection book is a personal look at Lilith. Not the deity, but a soul, a vampire/demon who is warm and loving and severely misunderstood. My fave part that I may write on the back of the book is the first time she inhales life in a human woman, walks outside to feel sunlight on her face and the sensation of a tear running down her cheek.

That's my two bits.

I'd have to say that I am fond of the VtM style vampires. They can have flaws and different ideologies. They are versatile, and there are many. All in all, there's a clan for every type of person. Hence, the perfect vampire style.

I prefer the anne rice vampires, the elegance, the beauty of darkness, they're sophisticated, cruel, cunning, intrueging and morbid. ::sighs:: I adore the way they create beauty in the so-called dirt of darkness...

Seriously though .. I'd have to say for ideal Vampire's in a realistic world ... I envision fora female a woman with Moreish looks, Khayman's kick ass abilities, and Req's attitude

For a man, I'd say, now this is tough, because I haven't quite seen or met anyone here ... so I'm gonna try to put a few together ... Jason's hair, Cancer's build, Daire or Dhampir's face, Radu's attiude ... hmmm and not sure about who's kick ass abilities .... have to get back on that one

Yes very much. there are alot of vampire movies that sound really goo but then I see they turn out like that so I just skip it.

Perfection takes away sincerity.

the vampire must be intelligant. One who can fight, and knows how to use weapons. They must also have to have history. There's nothing fun about some hero who doesnt have a history.
Seductive, and entrancing eyes are a given. Black eyes, because they have no soul. Also NO friggin wishy-washy vamps. if they have a soul fine if they dont they are vicious. They can blend into society easily, but are slightly withdrawn... One last thing BEAUTY!!! All vampires have it ya know, its like a trait.

I would usually base my vampire characters off the Vampire the Masquerade / Requiem game. Usually because a lot of the history and what not is there and I can just read up on it and then use it apart of my stories. With that said, if the story is well written and works along the lines of the White Wolf Staff I could send it in and become a free lance writter for them

my perfect vamp is that castlevania dude Alucard. He's sexy, a protector, fights really well, and did i mention sexy? Plus his dad is Dracula! What more needs said? lol

I'de say a male vampire from the Toreador clan. Using a white wolf clan profile is the easiest way I could think of to describe him.

willow is nice but I have to say its nice to see female vamps. Over the years we have seen so many males vamps. The only problem is you have to try not to be a copy cat.

The best dipiction of a female vamp is without a doubt Akasha. She was more powerful and beautiful than any other vamp, male or female.

Turn Angelina Jolie or the girls From T.a.T.u. into vamps....Mmmm, tasty....*licks lips*....and for a guy....Johnny Deep (as Jack Sparrow) and/or Orlando Bloom (as Legolas, of course)...

I think PhoenixTempest is the perfect vampire.....But that is my opinion...and I'm right!

Lestat is the most wonderful and sexy vampire. But I think what a vampire really has to have is dark hair, green eyes, nice fangs. Uhm a strong personality, in charge, daring, he should believe in a higher power, and try to do something good for the world since he will be spending so much time here. Never should one look gross or demonic, their skin should be flawless.

blade vamps dont really go into detail with the charactors. like they are all the same sort of were as anne rice vampires change from vamp to vamp wich i like. and the fact that you can relate to them and they have more to them then just being the blood suckers of the undead

I like the Anne Rice Vamps. They bring in the old world flair. They are elegant, and yet vicious. Then again the vamps in Underworld kick some major ass. Viktor pretty much mixes the 2 together and pulls it off nicely. So I would say the perfect vamp would be a mix of Anne Rice and Underworld.

The Anne Rice vamps seem so real. Blade is too full of myths and films.

I quite like the whole Nosferatu kind o Vamp ....more like a creature of the night than a human possessed or someone given the abilities of a Vampire ...I like the idea of a Vamp being unable to live around humans and being cast out if you will from any society ..a lonely creature that feeds when necessary and is a scary as hell....however Angel and Spike ....wow!!! ooh yeah and Vamp Willow ....Claudia is the best vamp..so sweet so innocent yet deadly and cruel ...love her.... but creepy Nosferatu ...all shadows and teeth ...xlent ...yay!!!

gotta look good in a leather or pleather for those animal savers entreging eyes and it would be funny to see a 4'11'' lil vamp guy kicking everyones but lol sorry
