Cryptozoology is the study of the lore
concerning legendary creatures-Bigfoot,
Aliens,lake/sea monsters,vampires,ghosts
especially in order to evaluate the
possibility of their existence.
It can, however, be a level headed,
interesting and possibly even scientific
subject, if examined with open minded
skepticsim and a scientific viewpoint.
What are your thoughts?
I also watch the Animal x show on the discovery channel that is about cryptozoology... i would like to actuly study this
I'm like really into in myself
Just find it very down my alley
Alot people dismiss it right away
But i seen your posts before up here
on how some of you have seen ghosts
well i bet at least one has....but not many
will believe you
Kinda sad it's not taken very serious
i have never heard of cryptozoology but this sounds interesting.
i have never heard of it either, but do beleave that some of it is real, after spending time up in washington state and seeing some of the places and sites
well until every other species of animal besides man is wiped from the face of the earth I doubt they will prove one way or the other on the creatures you mention. If they do exist they do a mighty good job of hiding ....
mew mew
would you want to be seen by everyone if you were so differant
actualy i wrote a esay on the existence on
aliens when i was in third grade they put it in a
magazine . but other wise i belive in all mythical
beings cause without the belief the world
would suck
Most community colleges have classes on this........usually called Metascience.
wat would be cool would be to discover the Chupacabra, the latin american mythical monster that is in lame terms a vampire/man/goat thing. would this mean some vampire got really lonely one night and "oh hey here comes a goat" if you catch my drift lol then poof the chupacabra was born. lol
So is it possable that Bigfoot is the missing link ............what would that mean if it was?
i didnt know it was called that, but i knew people studied this...looks interesting
Here is my response to the chupacabras...
Although faintly funny, it is untrue...
Chupacabras have reportedly killed thousands of animals in Puerto Rican and the United States. Dozens of people have claimed to have seen this animal.
Chupacabras are described as about four feet tall when standing errect, have huge red elongated eyes, grey skin that is part fur and part feathers, short arms with claws, legs like a kangaroo, and a line of sharp spikes down the middle of it's back. They are supposedly very powerful animals. Some report that the chupakabras have wings and can fly.
Chupacabras seeks out farm animals including goats, chickens, and horses. It punctures their flesh and literally sucks the blood from their bodies. Internal organs have sometimes been removed.
Chupacabras have also been seen in other countries, some with different description, sometimes with the head of a grey alien. The Chupacabra has been spotted in the southern part of the United States included the desert of southern California.
Often orange balls of lights show up at the same time as the reports of Chupacabras. Many create a link with UFOs' and Chupacabra's based on this
If anyone wants to know more about this
check out
theshadowlands.net
worth the peek
and there is a cool vampire page with links
I havent ever heard about thís thing called Cryptozoology. Its kinda new for me, but thanks much for the site, because it sound rather interesting, and maybe I can learn sth new again =)
I am not so sure about SOME of the creatures they talk about.....However i KNOW ghosts exist.....I live with one..... Can cause quite the fright if you don't expect it.
DeathsDisciple:
If BigFoot was found and proven to be the "Missing Link" in the chain of Human Evolution...
What that would boil down to is a lot of pissed off "Bible Thumpers" scraping little silver fish off the back of their minivans.
Empress:
Good topic, suga'... ;)
Yeah that would be a nice way for the
new Pope to start off
I believe that ghosts exist, but i'm not sure about vamppires... I can believe you if you tell me that lake/sea monsters are real, because we have not explored all the oceans (too deep), but vampiires?...
Just like the unicorn, people think they are mythical creatures when all it takes is the mixing of a wild bull and a horse.
So, in your theory... If I mix a vampire bat and a really hot slavic model (male or female) we'll get a Vampire?
/:)
Most myths have a ring of truth in them. It's up to you to find out of how much of each a myth has.
Khayman if it works will you give the new vampire my number?
LOL
The movie Young Frankenstein is coming to mind...
"Well... 7 always has been my lucky number...."
>:)
But this topic is really groovey though. To dedicate your life in the search of a really big, lake-livin' lizzard and a overly fury fella...
That's a good gig.
LOL
I wonder if they get out much?..
:|
This is a wonderful topic!
Trying to remember the screen name ... Moonshadow? was it?
Questioning the existence of vampires on a vampire site? *grin*
Funny.
As far as "mythological" creatures, or super/preternatural critters go, anything is possible. Absolutely everything is possible, from dragons to sentient dirt devils.
The probability gets ya every time though.
Cryptozoology for a living ... that must be exasperating, fulfilling, wonderfully adventurous and rather frustrating work.
I wanna try it.
You have to think........every continent has myths, many of them similar. There must be a basis of truth behind them, for so many stories and legends to be so similar.
This I have heard of. Yes it sounds interesting and seen it on discovery. I do believe on the creatures mentioned. There is alot more out there that are not known to others. Different cultures have their own supernatural or unexplained beings !!
Cryptozoology is fascinating..... but overall it's just a pretty name for something many of us have been doing already. lol.
kinda like chemistry is just the modern name for alchemy. Or medicine is the new terminology for herbalism.
Gotta make the name sound pretty, otherwise the idiots out there will just think u're an idiot and a freak.
Ghost hunting is much more my thing. And something i am more well versed in, but the lure of finding something previously thaught not to exist, or prove something out of the normal to the "normals" IS particularly inviting.....
overall though, it's the chase thats more satisfying than the success. Finally finding something would be SUCH a rush.... but what do you do when u've found it????
R
Many of us do it anlready, yes.... but not everyone gets PAID for it... /:)
khayman, im begging...please test that theory cuz if it comes out that way...ill give you my number, hold on......lol
Any word on finding a photo of the ever elusive typo-demon??
O_o
yeah, yeah.... i know my posts are full of typo's..... deal with it!!!!
I cant reread my posts, coz if i do, i change them. And change them. and fix them. and by the time i've made something perfect, it doesn't sound like ME anymore....
thus, to preserve my personality, i dont reread anything i type.
plus, i'm still indulging in the nescessity for morning coffee, while dealing with a rambunctious 15 month old and a sick teenager, so cut me some slack.
plus, being a forigner, whe speaks ENGLISH instead of american, sometimes correct spelling confuses "yanks".....
R
That typo thing wasnt for you that was for my typo, honey ;)
i remember a speacial on i believe it was Discovery channel, where they mimic how an acutal dragon would live, it was awesome i thought, because they even showed how they mated which was like that of seaguls, taking flgiht as high as they can and plummeting toward the eart and realeasing eachother just before impact and flying away, the speacial was very good, they tried to make it look as real as possible.
but wouldnt mixing different creatures create a hybrid? meaning..they are steril and cant reproduce...
*hmmm*
interesting...
ps: Khay, can you lend me the hot slavic model? i want to create my own frankenstein @_@ LOL
♥
ooooo boy sushi wants a griffin sushi wants a grifin! that would be awesome if they exist!
*hands sushi harry potter and drives him to the nearest gothic building* Yes, they do exist.
LOL @ DB....
As far as the breeding and sterilization thing goes, you are correct. A mix of different animal would more than likely not take let alone produce an offspring that could reproduce.
Take this for example ;)
Mules are the cross between a male donkey and a female horse. Hinnies are the reverse cross.
Only three times have the resulting breeds (mules/hinnies) actually reproduced.
That, in itself was the genetic defect of that particular case as the chromosome ammount in the parenting animals are different.
Like, but still unlike, humans. If we wind up with an extra chromosome, the result is mental/physical retardation.
Though we are still able (in most cases) to reproduce.
The truely scary thaught is how many humans reproduce, but shouldn't.
sometimes i feel like i'm drowning in an inferior gene pool...... ~grin~
R
Ha!
Indeed!
How 'bout this though? In China... the entire country is short by FIFTY MILLION female.
They families are limited to two children. Considering males are more valuable (they bring in more money for the work the do) the female children are more often than not either killed or neglected to death untill they have all male children.
This is causeing the boys of marrying age (16-25) to marry as close as first cousins. Which is causing an epidemic of birthdefects in the country. Mostly being deafness and blindness.
THERE IT IS AGAIN!!
Damned typo-demon!!!
I got a picture this time, though... >:)
*runs and hides*
that sh*t looks f^%*@ evil!!!!! lmao
about the Chinese....i know a family who has almost all girls...the first was born in the hospital, the rest on the street, hiding from the government...scary thought....
damn chinkie people!!!!!!!
LOL DB ( for the typo demon thing... not the chinese family).
I fear I've derailed Empress' thread.
Sorry, suga'....
Homo floresiensis has proven that little people did exist as in under a meter tall...
Could these be the piks and leprachauns?
k
PICTS.....MsLeFaye....
PICTISH NATION.
:D
Google that one, sister ;)
Very interesting indeed, here on Slovakia we dont have any of these "creatures"
I actually am quite intrested in this I think its a valid study BUT there are many inconsistincies within the actual studies so sometimes it is hard to take it seriously.
I agree, wonderful subject.
This has always been a lil bit of
a fun topic for me.
Any how... good job Empress!
Humans will soon replace all the wilderness with concrete so we will know did any of that kind of creatures existed. I don't think that there is a new species to be found, that can be bigger than a cat, maybe in the water, or in the earth but hardly on the surface.
I admit it khay...it was I who released the typodemon into the world through a failed summoning......
MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
ALL MY FAULT
check this out
http://www.cryptozoology.com/
SciFi channel often has shows on this subject during the day ... about once every two weeks all day long ...
I love female Sasquatch! I'm supprised knowone has mentioned little people, or giants yet! There's a spot not far from me called Anderson, IN there's a park that was once a sacraficial site. The story goes that little cave people exist in the hills of the park and surrounding land. I've seen pictures of huge worms to, Like bigger than humans! Worms eating fish! LMAO I need to start drinking more....
think the picts were mentioned as well as the one meter tall people that have proven to be fact and not fiction at all earlier in thead....
As for Dragons is there not a Saint known for the slaying of dragons?
Dragons do not excist in this dimension. I have seen a dragon thru a druid spiritual portal. Well there is the liviathan, but were not supposed to talk about it's origin on the site so I'll leave that for folks to go on google.
"At the town of Silene, in Libya,
there was a dragon, who was appeased
by being fed two sheep a day; when
these failed, the townsfolk offered by lot
one of their young people. One day the
lot fell on the King's daughter, who
was led out to the sacrifice, dressed in
her wedding gown. George appeared
and transfixed the dragon with his
spear and then using the Princess's
girdle led the bemused dragon into the
town, where it was beheaded."
So apparently dragons still existed still in 1200s CE if someone was sainted over it I highly doubt it was fictional....
i would study it, although the rest of my peers in related studies probably would shun me and review me as a mad man.
Khayman you nut ...
Cryptozoology is just as valid as the study of any myth. Until proven false or true it wont be in the mainstream but really how much of thise world have we as such a young race truely explored ? Time may well have reasons for all these legends and myths that we may never see other than as fossils....
I don't know about other paranormal creatures but the guy who made the legend of bigfoot told on himself before his death in like 2000 something. I was sad to find out it was a fake. But that sounds intresting and especially people who study ghosts
dragons were killed a long time ago because they ate humans too much lol
Cryptozoology wow what a long word hehe!Interesting thread and I believe in some mytical creatures.
I was the one who posted the ghost thread, and ye people judge you as different or mad if you talk about these things. In fact I said what I expirienced only here and to my closest friends.I can't even talk to my family about these things, they would send me in a mental hospital.
Now I'll take a look at the site,it sounds familiar I think I already visited it since my only interests are these things.
:( did anyone read my post that said bigfoot isn't real i know we might choose not to believe it but hes just another santa sad to say. I hope there is a real one somewhere though. :) I'd love to see a laft monkey half man i always had this desire to splice myself with a chimp so i can have their ability LOL i mean if they have ligers for real why not chimpman
bad things happen and some people want to have a monster to blame and others want something tangible and then there are those who want to find the truth but there are too few of them to matter...
I think they'll eventually dig up more stuff and have more questions about things they find but i believe a lot of the things that pass off as myth got it's roots from somewhere......
Master Vampire Elder Daniel has in one
of his journals about a new ape found.
Anyone into cryptozoology might wanna
take a peek at his journal.
Score one for Cryptozoology
Empress honey.... did you actually READ the article?.....
many people study different things...and if they do exsist the ghosts, aliens, or even big-foot then people should be able to study something about them....maybe even learn from them. How many people can honestly say they've seen a mystical being?
don't forget the Kraken was considered a mythical creature untill very recently
