Was it good? in what sense?

just express your opinions about it, curious to see what you guys think
thanks cant wait to hear ur responses
Read the book
don't bother with the crappy movie
that is my opinion of it
I loved the movie. I think Stuart is so Hot. I loved the music.
the book is really good, so was the movie. i got the soundtrack....as a matter of fact, i'm listening to it right now.
Ive read the book, seen the movie, and had that soundtrack, but i still think they could've done a better job on the movie.
Im just glad they didnt try and recast tom cruise *shivers* him on stage trying to sing
*chuckle. I don't think I can ever see Tom Cruise again without saying to myself "he looks better as a blonde." I liked the movie, have the book, have the soundtrack...blah blah.
There are some interesting points to bring up regarding the movie however. The special effects were good and brought Anne Rice's vision - always to a point being film - to life. If I were to critic it I would say I had always thought Marius to be a little older. That was the impression I got when reading the book. Also, personally, I think they over did it a bit with the flying scenes. Nice to see it once maybe twice, but it really was over done. Plus they didn't really get into Marius' feelings for Armond. That was definately a point that brought Marius out of the one dimensional reading, it get him those all involved depths characters require. Good in the book, but not so in the movie. Plus it was great to see gabrielle, Lestats mother have a cameo in the book. She's there in the movie, same time same place, but they don't get into details that it's her.
It would've been better if the movie were longer, not edited (butchered) as it was. All in all I would favor the book, but it's amazing to see the characters come to life - or unlife. Whichever. The soundtrack, though, is NOT disappointing. Since the movie was based on music, that is one thing they delivered well on.
Just my two cents.
I think the movie was pretty good for the fact that at the time Alyiaha's plane crashed and they couldnt finish the movie. I am sure it would have been better if she were still around to carry out her role. Her playing the part that she did really impressed me. Her movements, speech and actions were what I had pictured them. I just wish she was still around to make the movie the rest of the way.
Oh now come on the movie is one of the best vampire movies made in a long time. And as for the book Ann Rice has had only one good book and Queen of the Damned is not it!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for showing your compassion for Aaliyah...not alyah...lol
And thank you for posting your comments, appreciate it
I personally liked the book and the movie. They missed a lot of things in the movie and took out some stuff, but it was really good, thats my own opinion.
And I am also a huge fan of aaliyah, loved her a lot, still do, and she should have played more in the movie...it is really sad of her death, its like unbelivable to hear
but life is life...u have to move on and never forget, rip aaliyah
i love the movie. love the stuart guy that played Lestat . i havent read the book yet, but i do own it. i love all the music in the movie it was the best part about the movie.
i have also read the book. I also beleive they could have done better on the movie. Dont get me wrong I thought it was good, and I will say"stuart Townsend did make a goodlooking lestat" The cd however I beleive is one of the most awesome soundtracks anyone could own.
i enjoyed queen of the damned ..unlike some of the other vamp movies i've watched it wasn't a waste of two hours of my life..the sound track is a must have...
I liked it very much, better than most vampire movies and I love the soundtrack
This is one of My favorite books and movies. I like each sperately from each other, each for different reasons.
The book: well thats evident.. its a wonderfully written book and gives an interesting look at the history of vampires.
The movie: althought it is *nothing* like the book it is still wonderful. I think Stuart was a million times better than Tom Cruise, I dont care what anyone says, He was too short. (thats My rant.) It was sultry and the music was amazing and the Lestat was captured perfectly. (I love that devil brat prince.)
On the bad side, they tore apart the plot stuck in stuff that wasnt even in the book and twisted the characters around completely. It should have been called the Vampire Lestat not Queen of the Damned. I do think that Aalliya (however her name is spelt) did amazing (interesting tid bit: some of her voice over was done by her brother.)
Anyways, Ive rambled your.. well eyes out I suppose. :)

the movie is based on the two novels: lestat the vampire and queen of damned, if i good remember....
1st part based on lestat was good (just as the book)
2nd part based on the queen was boring (just as the book).
aaaa... eeee.... I was busy that day, you know, picking souls and smithing evil and all, and I've never seen it but humans say It's good
Ive read the book few times and it's really good
Movie sucks... pity...
The BOOK would always BE the best!
The movie? The special effects..
yeah!
=)
i saw the film a while ago... it was dark... i was alone and i hardly remember it
no comment... :P
Rarely have I have I seen a movie that translated clearly from the writen word to the screen. I guess my imagination makes that translation difficult. I wish I could see a movie before I read the book but it usually the other way around and I hate to be disappointed so, never saw the movie but read the book. My fav book by Rice has got to be the Witching Hour :-)
havent had the pleasure to read the book, loved the movie!
The book was good, and the movie was visualy stunning. But with only a few exciptions, the movie is never as good as the book.
I haven't read the book .. but I did see the film, now I know that there are some people out there that saw the film just becuase it was Aaliyah's last film and that maybe helped to boost the whole "Vampire" scene for the younger crowd, with her passing, but I think most people went to see it to see how it played out against Interview, and the book. Personally I think the music selection was awesome. I really liked the movie over all, but would have to say that I enjoyed that acting better in Interview ... that's my $1.50
loved the book. and stuart....hot as hell. and even better in league of extrordinary gentlemen *sorry for spelling*
your comments are awesome, glad you guys are pondering on this subject
happy you liked the book or the movie or both, glad to hear that
and the cd is damn awesome...the best cd anyone can own on this planet
i would say the best scenes is when he is singing on stage. he looked so hot and his outfit was such a turn on
I have the movie, have the book, and the soundtrack. I love all three of them. The movie's good the book is better and the soundtrack is awesome.
Queen of the Damned really makes you think.. This movies characters play their parts so realisticly it makes me wonder.....
I really could go ON....AND ON... about this movie/book.
LOL
ok, here is my take on it. As a vampire movie, it is one of my favorites ever!! I think stuart was a perfect Lestat for that time period.
as a movie from the Anne Rice book, however, I was veeery disappointed! They got so much wrong it was kinda hard to watch the first time. I came back the second time and thought it was a brilliant vampire movie.
gotta admit the book took you there, the movie was ok .
The only part that i liked was the concert scene.. it was cool, and the characters are ok in the movie.. but i liked the book better.....
yes you guys do have a point, the book will always be better, for a fact, books are always better than the movies made after them
but for someone to look at the movie and not have read the book, then it was a good movie. compared to the book, bad. in general, good
good comments guys, great comments
and teh characters were mezmerizing.
lestat with his rock hard abs lol and rocking hard on the stage, hot, hot ,hot!
akasha with her mistique movements and classic egyptian accent and wonderul acting and beautiful beauty
marius, magnificent playing
all of the characters were wow
the movie was wow too
i saw the movie and loved it, but i have yet to read the book. i am going to do that soon though.
i liked the film to an extent and the actors were cool (espesially the red head ;) but I would still read the book anyway book's are always better than film's
The book is always better then the movie. The book tell more..... But all in all the moive was very good.
I read the book and watched the movie...but they lefted some details out of the movie that were small, but I thought they were important
"Queen of the Damned" was a good movie, I havn't read the book yet but I'm going too. I like it better then "Interview with the vampire" becuase it's about Lastat and more his character. also the Actors were better in them roles then the actors in interview with the vampire. I hope they make a movie for "Memnoch the Devil" that was a great book!
something I was wondering about, I havn't read the book yet so I don't know the details but in the movie there wasn't that much interaction between Lastat and David. I was just wondering why? was there any in the book?
The movie was good........
But the book is even better!
The book and the movie both were good. The book was better because in the making of the movie somethings were lost.
I never read the book
But i didnt like the movie very much
Well I have read most of the books written by Anne Rice and I love them all. I thought Interview with the Vampire was a good movie but I didnt really think all that much of Queen of the Damned.
LOVED the movie(my fav movie)
i have the soundtrack.
best sence was when he came out to akasha(sp?)and he was just now able to be in the sun(...hot body!!ooooo)
and my fav character was of course lastat.
i also read the book...both were great!
The book is always great, and 9 times out of 10 better than the movie. But don't get me wrong I love to see what the director has visualized for the movies.
The thing that I liked most about the movie was the soundtrack...
i have seen the movie, love it,and own it. my favorite characters are lestat and akasha. i can related to those two.
The movie was great, the book was better. And Stuart is very hot, but just like with Interview with the Vampire, the actor is not at all like what I picture Lestat to look like.
Well, this raised a lot of opinions. My mum recently bought this, and we got it through the post today. I haven't watched it yet... should i watch it or wait and get the book - and read that, then watch the film ? :s
Is it good ?
I thought it was cool!
I liked it when The Queen herself came flying up thru the stage floor... And setting that club in fire, not to speak when she is defeated by Maharet and the others...
Ok, I admit it... I'm a sucker for DRAMA, hehe...
I have not seen that movie.I did not read the book either.
I adore both the movie, book and the movie's soundtrack. And yes, Stuart Townsend is absolutely massive droolage. :P
I found it to also be one of my more favourite arousing flicks, out of a very select few.
I agree with Mslefaye, read the book. The movie was very disappointing and too glammed up for my opinion. More of a kids movie. Mmhh I did like one person's acting in that movie.
But Read the book, much better!!
Yes, I Loved the movie. Play the DVD many times. Musics Great. Read the books and yes, the books do tell more. They always do. I do wish that the movie did more with the Ancients. They have sooo much character. Maybe the movie should have been a two parter?
saw the movie, i liked the goth rock style of it, but i hated the staring actor, it was too wanna-look-like-goth, at least for me.
Well, I liked the movie. It was a good movie. However, I read the book and I didn't like the fact that the movie was very misleading. The movie was so totally off from the book. The book was so much better.
i liked the movie. i liked the music and the cast line up.. however the i didnt like that the change who played lastat per in the books her was borderline bi. also the movie was infact to books together. the vampire lastat and queen of the damned. and the fact that the didnt follow ether book very well... the fact that they messed the ending up in interview with the vampire..by what happens to the reporter. they couldnt have him in the queen of the damned take out another caractor in the book
I love the music from QOTD I liked the movie but I must read the book. I liked stuart townsend as lestat better than with cruise. I think it would've been aweful frightning to see Tom Cruise up on stage singing *shutter*
Just my humble opinion.
i loved the book but didnt care for the movie it was so OTT
but i do think lastat is pretty cute
and i liked marious's way of thinking...
Wasn't Queen of the Damned actually a combination of 2 books. At least I think it was. But overall, the movie did loose a few things from the book. But it was a good movie and an awesome book.
I saw the movie and read the book and I enjoyed both of them. The movie is pretty good and I loved the book..I actually love all of Anne Rice's books...
I went to see that movie with my Dad. ^_^ I enjoyed it quite a bit. Very nice movie.
the movie sucked ass.. but somehow, I really don't know why, I’ve watched it at least ten times by now..
i thought it was great. much beter than interview with a vampire
the movie was absolutely horrible. you do better reading the book.
The movie was fine
The Soundtrack is incredible
The book.....well after reading it more than 20 times since Anne Rice published it it's 1 million times better.
i was diapointed with the movie, the sound track was the only good thing to come out of the whole movie deal. Like most people i was lookin to this movie as a sequel to interview with the Vampire, none of the history of the Anne Rice vampires was takin into consideration, the book was a hashing of the vampire lestat an queen of the damnd, an none of the leniage of the Vampires was giving any thought, fist off Marius Created Armand not Lestat, Lestat was sired By Magnus, i dont mean to rant....if you had absolutly no knowledge of the books (Vampire Cronicles) then the movie wasnt bad on its on but shouldnt have carred the names of already known charecters
shit i gorgot that is posted one here already..lol
yeah i liked it alot...
I loved the movie it did the book justice and Akasha was burning hot
i really liked this movie and i really did not have a favorite person for it or a favorite part sorry i liked it all
I thought the movie was lame.... was not as good as interview w/ the vampire.
I read the book once and I thought it was amazing, but the movie was horrible...
If you liked the movie and/or if you haven't read the book yet, you really should try reading it!
It's so much better ^_^
i think that this was one of the best movies i dont really know why its great it just is
i think it all fucking rocked... the boook and the movie... they were all awesome...
watch the movie then read the book, the book is amasing, and ofcourse there's always things left out in movies, except the movie combined two books so there's an insane amount not in there. the movie was cool in its own right definately, but nothing beats the books!
what a disappointment of a movie...however..it is sadly true, if you had never read the books...Queen of the Damned would have been a great movie.
I was one of the poor saps who thought it would be in the style of Interview and I was horrified by the way Hollywood trampled it just to make more money and appeal to a modern aesthete..but i am an old soul and can understand the allure of change...
there were blatant mistakes with who sired who and i generally thought the acting was poor....and the music was just contemporary with our era...nothing profound here....
Read the book and liked the movie.
I found review in which was stated that they believe the character for Aaliyah did not play aig enough part and I sadly greive that they do not take in the fact that she died during filming. I believe my favorite character was Lestat.
...i think the book was fantastic, the movie was really good, but i like the soundtrack alot too! all in all, they are all worth the time in and of themselves. :)
i seen that movie and i was highly disappointed. i only thought that the book must be 4 to 5 star biz. i never read it.
The movie is one of my favorite vampire movies. Though the movie was great the book was definately a lot better. I would watch the movie and than read the book.
I love that mvie. I think the actors that were picked to play the roles of the vampires where very well thought out and I believe that the depictions I read in the book where acurately shown the way I thought they were supposed to be. Overall it was a good movie but it mixed two books in one so I was alittle dissapointed with that.
ive read the book and seen the movie...i liked both...even though i was also disappointed cuz the movie was diff from the book but most movies that are based on books arent as good as the book. but i still liked both plus stuart townstead (i think thats his name, oh well the guy that played lestat) looked really hott hehe
Good book and Movie gotta see if i can find out when its on again
the movie and the book are really good. but the book is always better then the movie.
The movie will never compare to the book, but the movie is good for entertainment value.
Thou mistakes in Interview With The Vampire were made the mistakes in QOTD were BRUTAL...Lestat did not look like Lestat, thou the Armand portrayed in QOTD was better then Interveiw. Jesse wasn't turned in the fight at the end it was at the concert.....It was Mekare not Maharhet.....who is a statue and and Marius making Lestat GOOD GAWD C'MON!!!!!! It was Magnus.....I hated this movie it was brutal.....for a movie never reading the book cool...but er......
ok I'm done...
^%#$!!!!!
I am a Noble by nature, but you may call me Marius.
I dug both of them, but Aliyah made the movie what it is (in my opinion :)
Definitely ...QOTD
scuse me...I hate it when I sneeze and hit the enter button....anyway, I was gonna say that QOTD has to be the best vamp flick of all time. The tub scene with the rose petals was awesome....gave me a warm fuzzy feeling....lol
After reading the book, I decided I would see the movie. WHAT A HACK JOB! i was dissappointed, only redeaming Quality of that movie is the Soundtrack... which is awesome. I am amazed Anne let that get made the way it was. just my own opinion.
Anne Rice had nothing to do with it, unlike Interview With The Vampire. Anne Rice watched the production of Interview but told producers she wanted nothing to do with QOTD. She signed the movie to be made but wasn't involved.
THATS WHY IT SUCKED SO BAD.....
hmm.. no wonder... pitty. Anyone seen her housein New Orleans?
my favorite movie watched 354 times and know every word to it! so when i watch it i repeat the movie out loud lol
i know what you mean if i like a film i watch it over and over again. i thought the queen of the damned was brilliant film
I have my own opionion of that Movie.
The actors were good, but the story line sucks.
I understand that you women love Stuart, but honestly, he does not make the movie; plus where was Louie.
Finally they got Armand looking right for this one, I mean i think Antonio is awesome, but after reading book, i knew that he was wrong.
If you wonder where Armand is in that movie, he the blonde headed blonde with Marthet, check special feature to find out that .
that my opinion do not hate me for it
